joanswan-skyejordan_headshotSometimes fun. Sometimes naughty. Always romantic.

I am a New York Times Bestselling Author writing under the pseudonym Skye Jordan for my more … sexually heated … works.

My Skye Jordan novels are all about enjoying that little wild streak we all have, but probably don’t let out often enough. About those fantasies we usually don’t get the opportunity to indulge. About stretching limits, checking out the dark side, playing naughty and maybe even acting a little wicked. They’re about escape and fun and pleasure and romance.

And, yes, even love. Because even as Skye Jordan I’m just a happily ever after kinda gal.  Thanks for reading!

Chapter One Excerpt:

Chapter 1

Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.
—Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group

When her sister and brother-in-law said they wanted to talk to her at the diner Monday evening, Megan Kane assumed they were going to tell her they were finally expecting the niece or nephew she’d wanted for as long as they’d been married. But the words that came from Brett and Nina in stuttering, halting sentences had nothing to do with babies.

“Moving overseas.”

“Selling the diner.”

“So sorry to do this to you.”

“It was an amazing opportunity.”

“We couldn’t say no.”

“You can come with us.” Nina seemed crushed to be delivering this news to her “baby” sister, who was almost twenty-eight and hardly a baby anymore. “I’d love that. We could run around and explore together while Brett is at work. It would be so fun.”

Megan shook off the shock and found her voice. “No. You’ve been taking care of me since you were twenty-two, Neen. It’s time to go live your life. I’ll be fine.”

“We really do mean it when we say you should come with us,” Brett said. He was always so kind to her, never once in all these years acting as if her tight bond with his wife was a problem for him.

“I can’t do that. I can’t crash your party. I’ve been around your necks long enough as it is.”

“You’re hardly around our necks, Megan,” Nina said. “We could have so much fun! Would you think about it before you automatically say no? Please?”

“Fine.” Megan said what her sister needed to hear. “I’ll think about it.”

“Great!” Nina said, beaming with pleasure at the small victory.

“If you decide to stay here, we’ll help you find another job,” Brett said. “Maybe the new owners of the diner would want to keep you on. They’d be crazy not to.”

He’d been a terrific brother-in-law to her since he married her sister nine years ago. A teacher at a nearby boys’ prep school, he’d apparently applied for overseas positions in the past but they’d never materialized until now.

Work at Nina’s Diner without Nina? Unthinkable. “I’ll figure something out. You guys don’t need to worry about me.”

“Of course we’ll worry about you, Meg.” Nina reached for her sister’s hand across the table. “I don’t know how not to worry about you.”

“It’s probably time I got a life of my own.” Megan tried to stay calm even as she panicked on the inside. Not see Nina every day? Unbearable. “Mom and Dad would be horrified if they knew I was still living in the garage apartment.”

“They’d be proud of you.”

“No, they’d be proud of you, but you deserve it. You’ve created such a wonderful business here, and now you have this fantastic opportunity to travel. I’d never hold you guys back from doing what you want.”

Brett’s relief was so visible he practically sagged under the weight of it. Obviously, they’d worried about telling her their news. “You really can come with us if you want to, Megan,” he said. “It would be great to have you in France.”

“I’d love to come visit while you’re there, but this is home.” In reality, Nina was home to her, not Butler or the house where they’d once lived with their parents, but Megan kept those thoughts to herself.

“You said you’d think about it!” Nina said.

“Neen, I can’t just go traipsing off to France, as fun as that sounds. I need to figure out my life and what I’m going to do with it. I can’t do that in France. I don’t want either of you to worry about me. I swear I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?” Nina asked tearfully. “You’d tell me if you didn’t mean that, wouldn’t you?”

“I’m very sure.” Megan kept her emotions out of it—for now anyway. “This could turn out to be a good thing for me. It’ll give me the kick in the butt I’ve needed to move on.” Megan had been marching in place for more than ten years, since the snowy night they lost their parents in a car crash during her senior year of high school.

Nina had been her rock ever since, acting as mother, father and big sister all rolled into one. The sisters had held on to each other for all these years, and the thought of everyday life without Nina was unfathomable to Megan.

“If you agree, we’re going to rent the house,” Brett said, “but the garage apartment is all yours for as long as you want or need it. We told the rental agent the garage wasn’t part of the deal.”

“Of course I agree. No sense the house sitting vacant when you could be making some money.” Her brother-in-law’s sweetness nearly broke her emotional dam, but she refused to cry in front of them. Since there were going to be tears—and lots of them—she had to get out of there immediately. No way would she make them feel bad about something they were so excited about. Knowing she was on borrowed time where the tears were concerned, Megan gathered up her belongings and stood. “I’ll see you guys in the morning.”

“Let me drive you home,” Nina said.

“That’s okay. I could use the fresh air after being inside all afternoon.” They’d used their afternoon and evening “off” to do their monthly deep clean of the diner.

“You’re sure you’re all right?” Nina asked.

Megan bent to kiss her sister’s cheek. “I’m fine, and I’m thrilled for both of you.”

Nina held her tight for a minute. “Love you, Meggie.”

Megan couldn’t remember the last time Nina had called her by her childhood nickname. “Love you, too.”

Feeling as if she’d been set adrift, untethered from the one sure thing in her life, Megan stepped out of the diner, taking a moment to breathe in the fresh, clean early-autumn air. The tears she’d managed to contain in front of Nina and Brett broke loose in sobs that had her looking for a place to hide until the storm passed.

She crossed the street and ducked behind the Green Mountain Country Store, planning to hide out until Brett and Nina left for home.

The last thing she wanted was for them to see her crying, and nothing short of a miracle would help her keep it together tonight.

After another twelve-hour marathon in front of the computer, Hunter Abbott stood and stretched out the kinks in his shoulders and back. As the chief financial officer for the Green Mountain Country Store and other Abbott family businesses, Hunter worked pretty much all the time. If it weren’t for the pressing need for food that his body demanded every few hours, he’d probably work around the clock.

It wasn’t like he had anything better to do. And wasn’t that a sad, pathetic fact of his life?

His stomach let out an unholy growl that had him checking the time on his computer. Nine ten. With the diner closed today, that left pizza as his only option in town at this hour. He dialed the number to Kingdom Pizza from memory and ordered a small veggie and a salad. If he was resorting to eating junk, at least it was somewhat healthy. Before his twin sister, Hannah, had remarried over the summer, Hunter might’ve headed for her house to bum some dinner and conversation. But with Nolan now living with Hannah and the two of them in starry-eyed newly wedded bliss, Hunter steered clear.

He turned off his computer and glanced at the stack of files still awaiting his attention. Bring them home or leave them for tomorrow? After a brief internal debate, he shut off the light and left them. His tank was running on empty, and tomorrow would bring more of the same.

In the outer office, he was surprised to find the light still on in his sister Ella’s office. He went over to knock on her door. “You’re working late.”

“As are you.”

“Except I always do. What’s your excuse?”

“Getting some new products entered into the system, and dealing with a pile of paperwork that never seems to get smaller no matter what I do.”

“I hear you there. So much for being self-employed, huh?”

She smiled at him, but he noted a hint of sadness in her eyes that caught him by surprise. Ella was one of the most joyful people he’d ever known—always happy and upbeat.

“Everything okay?”

“Sure. Why do you ask?”

“You just seemed . . . I don’t know . . . sad or something for a second there.”

“I’m fine. No need to worry.”

“Okay then.” Hunter took a step back, planning to leave, but there it was again—the sadness he’d seen before. “You know if there’s anything wrong, you can come to me, right? We may see each other a thousand times a day, but I’m right over there if you need me. No matter what it is.”

“Thank you, Hunter. That’s very sweet of you. I know you want to take care of everything for all of us, but some things . . . Well, some things can’t be managed. They are what they are.”

More confused than ever, Hunter wasn’t sure whether he should stay and try to force the issue or give her some space to deal with whatever was bothering her. “I’m here, El. I’m right here. Don’t suffer in silence.”

Her smile softened her face. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Do you want me to wait for you so you’re not here alone?”

“No. I’ve got another hour or so, and I can lock up.”

“Give me a quick call to let me know you got home okay.”

“Hunter . . .”

“What? You’ll always be my little sister, so call me.”

“I’m only four years younger than you.”

“And I vividly remember the day you were born.”

“Freak.”

Hunter chuckled at the predictable comment. His family teased him every day about his photographic memory and ability to recall facts and figures from years ago that should’ve been impossible to remember. Sometimes he wished he could forget some of the crap that rattled around in his brain, but it was his lot in life to be a walking, talking data warehouse. “See you in the morning.”

“Have a good night.”

“Call me.”

“Go!”

Hunter went down the stairs thinking about what Ella had said about him wanting to take care of things for everyone. Perhaps it was also his lot in life as the oldest of the ten Abbott siblings, but he wanted the people he loved to be happy and their problems to be few, even if that meant taking on more than his share of the load.

Hannah had been after him recently to work less and play more. If only he could think of something he’d rather do than work.

Totally pathetic. He knew it, but damn if he could figure out how to snap out of the rut he’d fallen into. When had he become an all-work, no-play stick in the mud? If he were being honest with himself, he’d been in the rut for a long time, probably since he graduated from college and joined the family business full time. College had been the last time he’d been truly free of responsibility and obligation.

Thinking about the blissful college days had him remembering his late brother-in-law Caleb, Hannah’s first husband, who’d died in Iraq seven years ago. If he came back to life and saw how ridiculously out of balance Hunter’s life had become, he’d raise holy hell.

Raising holy hell was on Hunter’s mind as he stepped into the cool darkness and waited for the motion-sensitive light to come on. Once it did, he turned to lock the door behind him. Ella would see to setting the alarm system. Leaving her alone at the store made him anxious, but he would check on her if she didn’t remember to call him.

A sound to his left had him stopping to listen. Was that sniffling? “Who’s there?”

“It’s me, Megan. I’m sorry to scare you.”

That voice . . . It cut through him like a knife slicing butter. Every nerve ending in his body stood up to take note of her nearness, which happened every damned time he came into any kind of contact with her. “Megan,” he said in a voice that was barely a whisper. “What’re you doing here in the dark?”

“Hiding out.”

“Why? Are you hurt? What’s wrong?” True to form, he wanted to make things right for her, no matter what it took. His heart beat quickly, as if he’d been running for miles, and his hands were suddenly sweaty and clammy. He’d never understand why this particular woman provoked such a strong reaction in him every time he laid eyes on her—or in this case, heard tears in her voice as she spoke in the dark.

“Nothing’s wrong. I just needed a minute. Sorry to trespass on your property. I’ll get out of your way.”

“Wait. Don’t go.” The words came out sounding far more desperate than he’d intended. “At least let me drive you home.”

“That’s all right. I can walk.”

“I wouldn’t mind at all.”

She stepped into the light, and the sight of her tear-ravaged face broke his heart. What could possibly be so wrong?

“It’s out of your way.”

“I’ve got nowhere to be.” He watched her expressive face as she pondered his offer. Her lips pursed, which brought her cheekbones into sharper relief against the pale skin on her face. Exquisite was the word that came to mind whenever he looked at her, which was as often as he could. Until recently she’d had a major crush on his brother Will, but that had no bearing whatsoever on how he felt about her. He looked at her, and he wanted. It was that simple.

Except she barely knew he was alive, which was a problem.

“If you’re sure you don’t mind,” she said after an impossibly long pause.

“I really don’t.”

“Thank you.”

She walked with him to his silver Lincoln Navigator and stood by his side as he held the passenger door and waited for her to get settled.

As he got into the driver’s side, his growling stomach reminded him of the take-out order. “Have you had dinner?” The words were out before he could take the time to overanalyze the situation.

“Not yet.”

“I have a pizza and salad on order. I’d be happy to share.”

“I don’t know if I could eat.”

“Come along and keep me company?”

“Um, sure. Okay.” She reached into her purse, withdrew a tissue and wiped her eyes.

“Are you going to tell me why you were crying?”

“Do I have to?”

“Of course not.” He was surprised that she would think he’d try to force it out of her. “But I’m told I’m a good listener.”

She had no reply to that, so he turned the key to start the engine, lowering the windows a bit to get some air.

“I probably stink from cleaning the diner,” she said.

“No, you don’t.” As he drove, he thought of a thousand things he’d like to say to her, but none were the sort of things a guy blurted out when he finally had a moment alone with the woman he desired.

How exactly did you tell a woman who barely knew you were alive that you thought about her constantly? That seeing her upset killed you. That wanting her kept you awake at night. How did you tell her it didn’t matter if she had once been obsessed with your brother? That there was nothing you wouldn’t do to see her smile, to see her pale blue eyes light up with joy?

How could he say any of that and not sound like a total creep?

He couldn’t, so he kept his mouth shut and hoped he wouldn’t do something embarrassing like hyperventilate from the overwhelming effort it took not to say all of it.

Tracey’s Review

Being the oldest of the ten Abbott children, Hunter Abbott has always been the stable one, the level-headed one, the one that everyone can count on to keep things on an even keel. But still waters run deep, and Hunter is about to shake things up. Megan Kane has not had an easy life, but is happy with the way things are. When life as she knows it gets turned upside-down yet again, having a safe harbor is just what she needs.

Reading a book by Marie Force is always such a pleasure for me. Her characters feel like old friends, and seeing what they’re up to is like coming home. Her Green Mountain series has quickly become one of my favorites, and I couldn’t recommend them any more highly. I liked Hunter in the previous books in this series, but fell in love with him in And I Love Her. He may seem like a sedate sort of guy, but there’s a lot simmering below the surface, and it’s sexy as all get-out. His take-charge attitude when it comes to Megan is hot, sweet, and endearing, all at the same time. He knows what he wants and is finally reaching out to take it. Megan lets him know on more than one occasion that she isn’t relationship material, and that she’s not looking for a permanent thing, but she doesn’t stand a chance against him once he steps up his game, seeing her fear for what it is, and wasting no time showing her that love is worth the risks.

I have to mention, too, how much I adore Hunter’s whole family. His grandfather Elmer, his parents, and all of his siblings, cannot help but butt into this poor man’s business. The love that they feel for each other is evident in every conversation, and it just makes the story that much more heartwarming.

Marie and her books just keep getting better and better, and I will happily read anything that she puts out. I highly recommend both this book and the whole series, and look forward to reading It’s Only Love (Book 5) when it releases. 5 couldn’t-be-lovelier stars for Hunter and Megan and the whole Abbott crew.

‘I’ve left my keys downstairs,’ she said. ‘There’s a spare in your

set.’

He frowned, fishing his keys out of his jeans. ‘I havea key to

your door?’

‘You did, until now,’ she corrected. ‘I’ll have it back, please.’

‘Do you have one for my door?’

Genie sighed. ‘Yes.’

‘Then you can have yours back when I have mine.’

He really was a world class wind-up, and her temper

flared. ‘Stop being a dick and give me my key, Abel.’

He flicked through the keys and identified the one for Genie’s

door, then stepped forward and slid it into the lock.

‘Don’t call me names when I’m helping you out,’ he admonished her silkily.

She half laughed at the absurdity of his statement. ‘You’re not helping me. You’re trying to take everything I have. Believe me, I’ve called you far, far worse in my head. Be glad you only heard dick and liar.

’‘I haven’t lied to you, Beauty,’ he said, after a heartbeat, his hand still on the keys in the door. ‘Not once.’

‘You’re lying to yourself too if you believe that, Abel,’ she said,

her words softened by his term of endearment. ‘I sawyou the first

time you came here. You were turned on watching me onstage.

And again, watching me tonight.’

‘You’re dead wrong,’ he muttered, his eyes nailed to her door.He was close to her, and she could almost feel the anger contained in his taut body.

She wasn’t wrong and she knew it, and she sensed that

this went to the core of him. Reaching out, she placed a hand on his chest and saw him close his eyes in silent resistance.

‘Is it so bad to be turned on by me like this, Abel?’ she said,

feeling his heart beating hard against her palm.

‘Don’t fuck with me, Genie,’ he ground out, pushing her door

open. ‘I mean it.’

It was one of those moments when sense goes out the window

and instinct takes over. Genie tugged at the belt of her robe and

shrugged it off, letting it fall to the floor in one fluid motion,

revealing her body in nothing but the nipple tassels and tiny crystal

g-string she’d left the stage wearing.

‘Is it so bad to want me when I look like this, Abel?’

He turned towards her and dropped his eyes, his palms scrubbing over his jaw as if he didn’t trust his hands if they weren’t occupied.

‘I told you not to fuck with me, Beauty,’ he breathed, almost

agonised, and she saw the exact, dangerous moment that his resolve snapped.

He shoved the keys into his pocket and then his hands were on her waist, lifting her up onto the hallway table, sending the lamp flying as he parted her thighs with his hip to let him in between them. Genie gasped when he tipped her chin back with his hand and dipped his head to her throat, the erotic drag of his hot and open mouth down her skin. The clean, aromatic scent of his hair surrounded her, dark silk falling over his brow as a

low, animalistic growl rattled through his chest.

Genie put her hands on either side of his stubbled jaw and lifted

his head to hers, desperate for his kiss yet still shocked by the

intensity of it when he finally gave it to her. Hard enough to bruise,

designed to punish, profoundly sexy. She gulped down air and

dragged his head down again when he lifted it, his crotch hard in

hers as he clamped her against him with his hand splayed on her

back, his other hand cupping the back of her neck. He held her as a

man holds a woman he adores, and he kissed her as a man kisses a

woman he needs to fuck more than he needs to breathe.

Her hands moved under the bottom of his tee shirt, and he

broke off for the briefest of seconds to drag it over his head before

pulling her into him again, skin to skin. The sensation blindsided

her; the heat and the beauty of him. Tanned deep bronze in the

way that only a man who spends his life out in the sunshine can be,

with a fine trail of dark hair traced on his midriff that she wanted to

follow all the way down into his jeans. His hands move to cover and

cup her breasts, making her moan into his mouth.

‘I warned you not to fuck with me…’ he muttered again, still

angry even as his mouth gentled over her jaw, grazing the skin

beneath her ear, drifted over her collarbones to the swell

of her breasts in his hands, somehow lewder for the scant cover provided by the crystal tassels than if she’d been naked.

‘You’re covered in fucking glitter,’ he spoke against her skin as

he dragged her hips forward to the edge of the table and trailed his

tongue over the top curves of her breasts. ‘You too,’ she whispered,

smoothing her fingers over the gold dust that had transferred itself

onto his shoulders, his cheekbones, his abs.

She drew in a shuddering breath when Abel lowered his head

and licked around the edges of the sequinned tassels. No man had

ever touched her in costume like this before. Having his mouth slide

around the tassels was just about the sexiest thing she’d ever seen

or felt, and her body screamed for his tongue over her nipples.

‘Take these off,’ he said, tugging lightly on the tasselled ends,

his restless mouth roaming the curves her breasts. ‘Ineed to taste

all of you.’

Genie groaned with frustration, wanting him to see her too.

‘They don’t come off easily.’

Abel grumbled low in his chest, like an animal denied

his dinner. Genie understood; she wanted him to feast on her just

as much.

‘And this?’ he said, bending to kiss his way down her

stomach and lick along the top edge of the crystal g-string. ‘Is this welded on too?’

She shook her head, although he hadn’t waited for her

reply in any case. He’d already dropped to his haunches, his

fingers splayed on her inner thighs, holding her open. His hands wer

e firm and tanned against the smooth ivory of her skin. He move

d the barely- there barrier of her g-string aside with one finger and studied her, intent and intense, his lips parted just enough for Genie to be able

to feel the warmth of his breath between her legs.

Genie’s heart stopped beating for a few seconds. She’d thought

that she’d wanted him to touch her in the lift, but nowhere near as

much as she wanted him to put his mouth on her now. And then he

did, slow, warm and sure, the sweep of his eyelashes dark on his

cheek, his earlier restlessness replaced by unhurried sensuousness;

pure gold. Watching him, she smoothed her fingers over his hair, saw each stroke of his tongue a second before the sensation hit her

flesh.

The first orgasm Abel had given her had been urgent and extreme, driven by the need for speed. Tonight he took his sweet time, paying attention to her reactions, licking her slowly, circling his tongue harder when it made her fingers grab into his hair to rock herself onto his mouth for more. She lost focus when he laughed, low and sexy, then eased his fingers inside

her, drawing her clitoris into his mouth. He had her and he knew it, holding her in his mouth as her muscles jerked and she dug her fingernails into the smooth bulk of his warm, sports-star shoulders.

His breathing was almost as shallow as hers for a few seconds,

and he turned his face to drift barely there kisses a long her inner

thigh before rising to his feet. His cock strained hard against his

jeans, but he caught hold of her hand when she reached down to

release him.

‘Go to bed, Beauty.’

‘Come with me?’ she asked, quiet, wanting him, wanti

ng to give to him as he’d given to her.

Abel shook his head, and Genie could feel him retreating

even though he was as standing as close as he could possibly be.

‘That’s not how this is gonna go.’

Confusion clouded her mind. She couldn’t get the measu

re of him. He wanted sex with her really, really badly. He might not have

said it with words, but his cock couldn’t lie.

‘How is it going to go then, Abel? You get to help yourself to my

body but I don’t get yours?’

‘Don’t pretend you didn’t like it,’ he said. ‘You were the one who

took your clothes off, lady. I took it that you needed servicing.’

‘Needed servicing?’ she said, repeating his dumb insult because

it took her by surprise so much.

‘You heard me right.’ He scooped her forwards off the

table with his warm hands on her ass and set her down on her feet. ‘And now you’ve been serviced, so we can both go and get some sleep.’

Genie hated that the sound that left her lungs sounded like a

strangled cat, but it was all she could manage, to articulate the rage

and frustration and loathing that formed in her chest as Abel

touched his fingers to his brow in mock salute and disappeared into

his apartment without glancing back.

Inside his front door, Abel kicked the nearest chair so hard it flew across the room and made for the shower. Again.

Inside her front door, Genie heard the smash. Half of her wanted to

go and force him to take what he so obviously needed. The other

half of her wanted to smash something herself, preferably

something heavy over Abel Kingdom’s stupid, beautiful head.

Seconds after hearing the click of the front door shutting, his mouth was at her ear. His fingers slipped beneath the straps on her shoulder, lifting the dress above her head and tossing it on the end of the bed.

Spikes of sensual energy gathered between them. Reed nuzzled the rasp of his stubble into the sensitive spot on her neck and her skin came to life beneath his firm yet gentle touch. Tremors chased down her spine and desire ached between her thighs. Never in her life had JC been so completely in tune with the bodily forces filling her physically and emotionally.

A slight giggle dissolved into a soft gasp as one arm crossed beneath her breast, pulling her closer. Gooseflesh covered her body as his lips traversed the slope of her neck and shoulder, revisiting receptive areas he’d pursued the night before.

“I don’t understand,” she murmured. Reed pressed the shape of him, rearing and stiff, against the small of her back. Her head listed back against his chest, followed a soft ambiguous cry of need. “How do you do that to me?”

He turned her to face him, cupping the tender curve of her breast. “Darlin’, in few minutes, you’re not gonna give a damn.”

Heat.

Heat spread everywhere, engulfing her senses in flames of desire. Draping her wrists over his shoulder, she raised on her tippy-toes, searching for his lips. Reed resisted her fervent urges, pulling back, not allowing her the passionate kiss she yearned for. He stared into her eyes, capturing her spirit with his ice blue eyes. Zings of pleasure chased though her and JC feared she might melt before they even started.

Unspoken words drifted between them.

Reed’s unconditional acceptance disarmed her. He accepted her commitment phobias, occasional neurotic tendencies, her fears of love, her mishaps in life and bad judgments. He understood her implicitly and appreciated her exactly as she was.

Her heart pounded. Excitement and nervousness mingled through her emotions. Her eyes drifted shut as she leaned into his chest and his hands played over her slowly, tortuously igniting a new passion within. She quivered and stumbled, falling onto the chaise behind her.

He started toward her hungrily, but she shook her head.

“No?” he asked with a questioning grin.

“No.” She shook her head again. “This isn’t exactly how I pictured this. You make me too damn nervous.” She pointed toward the bathroom. “Can you please give me two minutes?”

He bent, securing her to the hide with his thigh between her legs, possessing her mouth with long, intimate licks of his tongue. “I’ll give you three,” he assured, releasing her from his kiss and sauntering into the bathroom.

JC leapt to her feet, pacing in circles in nothing more than her white cheeky panties. “What the hell is wrong with me?” Stopping midstride, she shook out her trembling limbs. “You can do this! Pull yourself together.”

She took a few deep breaths, trying to ward off the tension looming close the surface of her thoughts. Her limbs felt weighted and encumbering, restricting her body from its natural rhythmic flow of sensual language. He’s just a man. I’ve kissed dozens of men! You’ve already had sex with him. Don’t be chicken!

She bent over, tousling her hair through her fingers and flipped her head back, letting the long caramel layers cascade down her back in sexy loose pieces.

JC plopped onto the chaise, strumming her fingers on the hide. Yeah, but damn what a man!

Nestling back into the hide, she draped her hands above her head. Unable to find the right position, she fidgeted awkwardly. “This is not comfortable,” she grumbled. “Oh, my God. What is wrong with me?”

Irritated by her own anxiety and gracelessness, she flopped to the opposite end of the chaise. Her long legs and feet dangled over the arched back and her head hung over the foot of the lounge.

Sunbeams pushing through the glass door swept across her body. Her eyes drifted shut and she drew in a deep, full breath of air and then another. The scent of his skin lingered with the warmth of the sun, caressing her senses and calming her nerves.

She startled when Reed gently placed his hand on the outside of her thigh. His naked hip brushed against her skin when he sat beside her. Her eyes remained closed as the coolness from his hand slid along her waist to her breast, resting on top of her heart.

“I know…” she panted breathily. JC placed her hand over his. “Just feel you in here.”

“That’s right, darlin’”

“I don’t know why you make me so nervous.”

“Just relax.”

Feeling his avid stare burning through closed lids and the weight of his hand dip to her breast, she slipped her tongue across her lips sensually.

“You make me nervous too,”—his breath fractured—“JC.”

Her eyes opened when he called her by name.

“We’ll figure it out together.”

Feelings of passion and adoration flourished, stringing tightly around her heart. She nodded.

“Goddess,” he hummed, wiggling his brow. The back of his hand traced lazily over her jaw and earlobe. He leaned closer, nearly kissing her before halting. “You’re beautiful. Inside and out.”

Excerpt

Oh the joys of watching the man you love get ready to take another woman home … especially when she’s one bad dye job away from being an Oompa-Loompa.

Here’s a little snippet from CHANGING EVERYTHING for y’all! Enjoy!

 “Pay!”

“Oh no,” I breathed, and looked at Kristen to act like I hadn’t heard Eli. “If he makes me play pool with him while he makes out with another girl again, I will lose it!”

“He’s smiling, at least he didn’t see you moping—and he’s walking over here. With her. Right now. He’s—”

“Pay, we’re gonna head out, were you ready to leave?”

I turned to look at them with a smile plastered on my face, but it was entirely possible I looked like I was grimacing. “Well … ” I began, but the girl in Eli’s arms held up her hand.

She made a sickened face as her head jerked up to look at Eli, then back at me. Long seconds passed as she looked me up and down with her lips parted in disgust. “Um … ew! I’m, like, not really into that whole threesome thing. So gross. Yano?”

I wanted to remind her that “you” and “know” were two separate words … but with the way she looked, I was surprised she knew that Eli plus her plus me equaled three and not the color burrito, so I kept that to myself.

Eli’s face pinched together like he’d eaten something sour, and before he said something that would inevitably crush me even more tonight, I tried to speak his latest pick’s language.

“Ohmigod, like, ew, right?”

Kristen’s hand flew to her mouth as beer sprayed out, and Eli’s lack-of-amused expression let me know that he knew what I was doing.

At least I didn’t feel like I was going to throw up anymore.

“Threesomes are so way gross,” I continued, not like I’d know. But the girl nodded her head and pursed her lips.

“So, like, is she gonna watch?” she asked, and it took everything in me not to shoot Eli a look that said: Really? This is what you want?

Michel’s Review

Molly McAdams delivered another emotional novella. Changing Everything had a different tone than most of her books. It did not have the heart wrenching angst and anguished characters. It was a book that is close to being a realistic situation that many have found themselves in.

Paisley Morro has been in love with her best friend, Eli Jenkins. They have done everything together, made traditions, and depended on each other. The problem is Paisley. Her unrequitted love has finally reached it’s limits. She cannot stand by and watch Eli’s many conquests. She cannot be his excuse to escape the women after he is finished with them. She has had enough of being alone and waiting for that moment when Eli will notice her love. When she finally meets a guy that could be a game changer , she decides it’s time to let go of her hopes of a relationship with Eli. She makes one last ditch effort and finally tells Eli how she feels. He is shocked. He does not feel the same way. It’s time for her to move on.

Eli didn’t realize what he had with Paisley. Now that she has moved on and he is no longer the most important person in her life he is struck with remorse and shame. He realizes that Paisley is part of his soul. She is the only woman he could ever truly love. He has lost her to another man. It’s time to tell her the truth about how he feels.

Eli is going to have the challenge of his life. He is going to have to win Paisley’s heart. He has to prove that she can trust her heart with him and that he will always cherish it.

Changing Everything was emotional without being overly angsty. The dynamics in Paisley and Eli’s relationship is heartwarming. It is clear that they were meant to be together.

This novella will not disappoint. It is a charming romance.

Prologue

Violet

“Fairy dust is not real. This I know.” —from the journal of Violet St. Lyons

Boom!

I, Violet St. Lyons, who once believed herself the luckiest girl in the world, was born on the same day that the Violette–Sells comet was discovered. My parents, two avid stargazers, said it was a sign of how special I was and promptly named me Violet. They claimed my life had been blessed with fairy dust.

At the very least, comet residue.

I’d foolishly believed it for eighteen years, until the moment of my death.

Which was now.

Boom! Another explosion rocked the plane and metal ripped away as a section of the aircraft to my right vanished. Luggage flew through the air. People disappeared. The mom with the baby who’d sat in the aisle across from us—gone. The redheaded flight attendant who’d been collecting trash—gone. Disembodied screams echoed from the surrounding passengers as my own scream took up most of the space in my head. Air sucked at us viciously from the outside as a tornado of people banged around the space and one by one got pulled out into the swirling abyss.

I watched, helplessly transfixed, as I sat between my parents, gripping each of their hands as the plane we’d boarded six hours earlier for Dublin spiraled toward the Atlantic Ocean. I was going to die. My mother was already dead, a twisted piece of shrapnel sticking grotesquely from her chest as her head lolled around her neck. Blood had already soaked her shirt, yet I refused to let go of her hand. She’d be okay. We were always okay. We were the St. Lyons family of Manhattan, an icon of old money wealth with deep political ties. Page six of the New York Times featured pictures of us on a monthly basis. We couldn’t die on a plane.

Reality dawned as we plummeted. The yellow breathing apparatus dropped and dangled in my face, taunting me with its pointlessness. Fire and black smoke boiled in front of us where the cockpit had been, and my mind recognized that the pilots had to be dead. Just a few minutes ago, they’d come over the intercom and announced that the plane was making its descent into Dublin Airport exactly on schedule.

Then the first explosion had gone off.

Bits of debris flew around, narrowly missing me. My elderly father grabbed my hand and squeezed, his face drawn back in a horrible grimace. Fear and then horror flickered across his face as he saw Mother, but there was no time to comfort him.

Paralyzed in my seat, we spun like a drunken top, and a part of my brain noticed the sun was rising, its pink tinge lending a soft glow, catching the reflection of clouds and making them silver-lined. The rocky coast of Ireland glittered in the distance. Mocking me. We’d been headed there to celebrate my eighteenth birthday.

Just then my violin case flew past my head from the overhead compartment and crashed against the wall of the plane. Shards flew. I shuddered and wanted to vomit. God, help us. We were here because of me. Our deaths were my fault. I spared a glance at the diamond promise ring Geoff had given me before we’d left. Would the Mayor of New York’s son go on without me?

The air was turbulent yet thin, and my chest tightened as dizziness pulled at me. I resisted. Had to stay awake. Had to be with my dad. I was younger, stronger, faster. My eyes went to the gaping hole in the plane. Had to think ahead. Plan. Water would fill up the plane on impact, ensuring we’d sink rapidly.

My fear escalated as the ocean rushed at us, its surface choppy and ominous. I took in a giant breath and braced myself. We hit at an angle, the plane a torpedo as it sliced into the sea. Daddy disappeared, ejected by the impact, and I yanked on my seat belt, unclicking it to go after him. Heart thundering, I sent a final look at my mother. I wanted to take her with me, but she was gone.

Water everywhere, bubbling and gurgling as it filled up the plane. Salt water stung my eyes. People floated by, some alive as they floundered for the opening. I kept my gaze off the dead ones. Focus. Get out. Only seconds left.

I swam from my seat and fought my way out of the large hole in the plane, lungs exploding. Burning. I’d been under too long.

Daddy! I caught a glimpse of his red shirt above me and kicked harder.

Up, up, up. Must get up. My arms moved. My legs kicked. Excruciating pain. Ignore it. Almost there. So close that I could see the daylight breaking through the water.

The hottest fire I’ve ever known lit in my chest. Scorching.

Air. Just want to breathe. Just get to the top. Please.

My body rebelled and I inhaled and swallowed water, the burn racing down my throat making it spasm as I tried to cough it out. I struggled but took in more and more, the cold liquid filling my lungs.

Dark spots filled my eyes. This was drowning.

Exhausted.

Done.

My body twitched. I grew disoriented.

I let go of the fight. My hands floated in front of me.

Oblivion.

Darkness.

No bright lights, no tunnel.

No heaven, no mother, no father.

No comets.

No fairy dust.

Michel’s Review

Very Twisted Things by Ilsa Madden- Mills is the third full length novel in the Briarcrest Academy Series.  It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.  Either way, it is a book that will keep the reader glued to the pages.

Violet St. Lyons is not your ordinary young woman.  She is a prodigy.  She has also lived through one of the most horrific tragedies to happen in the world.  She was the sole survivor of a plane crash caused by a terrorist bombing.  She lost her family and her fairytale life.  She may have been the only survivor but she is not really living.  The emotional and mental scars have inconpacitated her life.  She is no longer attending college, no longer performing, and no longer interacting with others. She left her home in New York and moved to LA to escape the memories. She has closed herself off and become a recluse.

Sebastian Tate has moved to LA.  His huge success with his band, Vital Rejects, has put him in the limelight.  He wants to further his career and pursue an acting career.  Moving to LA, being seen with the right people, and being a part of tinsel town is exactly what he needs to land the coveted role for an upcoming movie project.  He has to tone down his rock star reputation and prove that he is a stable person.

When he spies his beautiful neighbor playing her violin in the moonlight he is mesmerized.  Her moonlight serenades have captivated a part of his soul that he locked away.  She is bringing his soul back to life.

When these two finally meet, the one on one interaction is intense.  Their attraction for one another is undeniable.

Their lives are on very different paths.  Violet has to learn to live in the real world again.  She will have to chose how she wants to live the new life she is building.  Will Sebastian be her future or will she go back and claim the stardom she left behind.  Sebastian will have to figure out what is more important in his life, his career or a chance with Violet.

The sparks fly.  The passion is intense.  Their worlds are tilted on an axis.  Will these moonlight serenades make them or break them?

Ilsa Madden-Mills has delivered another fantastic book to her highly successful Briarcrest Series.  She has created characters that pull at your heart strings.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  It had the right amount of angst, emotional moments, humor, and romance.  The love scenes were smoldering. The book was fantastic.

Read Very Twisted Things.

Excerpt

Shiori moved to his other ear. One hand gripped his hair while

the other clamped onto his ass cheek. “The other choice is you on

your knees with that pouty mouth all over my pussy.”

“Look at me,” she said softly.

His lust-clouded

eyes met hers.

“Make me come so hard my knees give out. Then pick me up

and do it again.”

“A man like you?”

“A man who finds beauty in a woman secondary to her strength.

You have both in equal measure. So you tempt me beyond anything

I’ve ever experienced.”

“I changed my mind. I don’t give a damn about your sexual

past when you’re responding to my touch so beautifully.” She blew

in his ear. “A cliché for sure, but your body is my wonderland.”.

Shiori’s palms smoothed over his cheeks, and she tipped his

head back to look at him. “You did well.”

“It was all for you.”

“Now it’s your turn.” She brushed her lips across his. “Ask me.”

“Please, Nushi, let me come.”

“Come for me now.”

I’ve never craved a woman like I do you.” He groaned

and briefly closed his eyes. “I’m sitting here on my knees, my ass

stinging, knowing I’ve got more punishment in store, and my dick

is getting hard just imagining being with you again.”

The man worshipped her body with every caress, every

kiss, every stuttered breath. And yet he gave her total control. He

didn’t rock his hips or thrust up into her. He let her fuck him. That

surrender made this connection all the more powerful.

Warm lips trailed down her spine, and strong hands dug into

her hips. “One of these days I’m gonna map every muscle in your

back with my mouth. You’re so strong, and that is so fucking sexy.”

Lightning fast she wrapped her hand beneath his jaw and jerked

his face up. “Taking care of you is my responsibility, Knox. That

includes commanding you to get turned on, getting you off, cleaning

you up, and making sure you don’t do something stupid in the

aftermath.”

“Come into my lair, my sweet,” she murmured

against his lips, “and we’ll have us some kinky fun.”

You are alive and here with me, and

there’s no way I’ll ever be able to let you go. Not because you’re my

Mistress, but because you’re the woman I love. The woman I’ve

waited for my entire life.”

Shiori trapped his face in her hands and kissed him. “I didn’t

think I could love you more than I already do, but I was wrong.”

Another kiss. “Please get off your knees and hold me.”

6+Michel’s Review

The Mastered Series by Lorelei James is sensational! The latest release, Unraveled, blew me away. This book was emotional, raw, gritty, and very complex. It had an intense love story that was very realistic. The push and pull of their relationship in and out of the bedroom kept the reader glued to the pages. Their story is more than your typical BDSM romance. It was a story of pure passion. Both Shiori and Knox were learning more about themselves as individuals, as sexual partners, as lovers, as professionals, and social status. They were learning to satisfy their needs, feed their desires, and how to succeed in a romantic relationship.

I have read many BDSM books, long before Fifty Shades of Grey hit the scene. I have found that this romance theme borders the line with a love/ hate reactions. Most of these themed type of books have one extremely strong character and one character that appears to be strong but can be easily manipulated. I have read some that come across as harsh and somewhat abusive. Others I have read I found  to only dabble in the BDSM world.

The one thing should be clear in all of these books based upon this romantic theme is the roles in the relationship. The dominant may be the one that controls the relationship, but it is with permission from the submissive. It is their responsibility to fulfill their needs, satisfy their desires, reward with their directives, and physically care for them at all times. They are responsible for reading their submissive’s feelings and reactions at all times. They have been given a great deal of power and trust. The submissive is the one that truly holds the power. They are the ones that are surrendering their trust and lack of power. They are the ones that can stop the exchange at any time, no matter how the dominant is feeling. They are the ones that are strong enough to let go of complete control and step outside of their ego.

As in most of the books, the female takes the submissive role and the male takes the dominant role. After all most romance readers want an Alpha male as the leading man in the story. It is unusual for the male to be the submissive. In most of the books with the male being the sub, it failed i epic proportions. The man appeared to be weak and wishy -washy outside of the bedroom. He didn’t have the backbone that was needed to be convincing in a romantic relationship. Lorelei James took a huge risk making her leading man a submissive and her leading lady a dominatrix. Knox was a pure alpha male that was strong willed, extremely protective, and in control at all times. Shiori is a strong, smart woman that grew up in a powerful world where strength of character is the most important value one can possess. She did not come across as an emotional female with power issues. She did not have gender issues.

Unraveling was exactly as the title implied. Both Knox and Shiori are at crossroads in their lives. When they first met, they seemed to but heads. It was more than their rankings within the Dojo that spurred their hostilities. It was the sense of change, the intrigue of something forbidden, and the overwhelming attraction to one another. When they finally come together it is explosive. They are both learning to open their hearts. They are learning new things about themselves that makes them stronger. They are learning that there is more than a sub and dom relationship at hand. They are learning that a real relationship is give and take. It is about learning when to let go and when to hang on. One is not stronger than the other. The true strength lies in being together.

This series is more than a Dojo full of characters with kinky preferences. The dynamics of this Dojo world intermixing with the  MMA fighting world moves this series along. The relationships among all the characters makes their world a family. This family is larger than life and captures the reader’s heart.

Lorelei James wrote a powerful story with complex characters. Both of these characters stood out and were easy to embrace. Their relationship in the bedroom and outside of the bedroom was explosive. Their story was anything but predictable. The surprises that came at the end shook the series world without leaving it with a cliffhanger. It left the reader eager for the next book. Deacon has a story and a place in the Mastered world.

Unraveled truly earned a six star rating. It is my favorite release in the Mastered Series, It has become a 2015 Favorite.

The Mastered Series

91YucSAukOL._SL1500_Bound

In the new Mastered series by New York Times bestselling author Lorelei James, a woman’s desire to shatter her inhibitions leaves her unprepared for where that erotic journey will take her….

CHASING ME by Jennifer Probst

BOOK TRAILER:

BOOK SUMMARY:

Quinn and James’ Story Continues in Chasing Me…
It was supposed to be a love story….

I knew she was out of my league but I didn’t care. Looking back, I wonder if I hadn’t pursued her, would things have turned out differently? Is it Fate that determines our choices in life? God? Free will? Or just plain old innate selfishness?
I got her, of course. There hadn’t been a girl I wasn’t able to seduce. Problem was she seduced me right back, body, mind, and soul. She possessed me, tormented me, and showed me a world that was so bright and pure I was almost blinded.
Didn’t she know after such a drug I could never settle for less? Didn’t she realize no matter how many times I screwed up, or broke her heart, or bent her to my will, I’d never be able to let her go?
If I hadn’t known such intensity existed, would it have been better for both of us?
True love, the real kind, isn’t nice and sweet and pure. No, it’s dirty, and sinful, and messy. It’s like ripping a chunk of flesh from your body and watching yourself bleed out in slow, helpless intervals until you thankfully pass out.

This isn’t a love story. But it’s the only story I got.

Someone has to pick up the pieces…

Mackenzie Forbes was everything I ever wanted and the one person I didn’t deserve. When a past mistake costs me the girl I love, I’ll do everything I can to get her back. We both have demanding careers and family secrets darkening our pasts, but I need Mackenzie in my future.

Sometimes everything you have to give just isn’t enough…

FindingYou

FINDING YOU by Jenna Bennett

BOOK SUMMARY:

Sex on the Beach, the do-over.
I had a simple plan for what to do in Key West the second time around.

Testify at the trial of the rapist I helped catch last year.
Make sure he gets locked away for the rest of his natural life, so he can never, ever hurt another girl.
Wait for my BFFs to get to town, so we can celebrate.
And stay far away from Ty Connor, because three months after breaking up with him, I still don’t know whether being with him is worse than being without him.

Spring Break, take two.
All of the above? Out the window.
Turns out testifying is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
Not only is the rapist I helped catch last year not locked away for the rest of his life, he’s on the loose and looking for me.
Oh yeah, and it’s definitely harder being without Ty than being with him, especially when I have to watch him with someone else.
Welcome to my world.
