Whoo, y’all, this family. I tell you, they have been put through the wringer, and that’s the truth. After the sweet but angsty start to the Soul Sister series in WILD CHILD, author Audrey Carlan keeps bringing the suspense, the sizzle, and the action in WILD BEAUTY, the second book in the series.

Audrey has done a great job of world building with these books, giving her characters diverse and definitive personalities that come together to make the best kind of family, the one that is created not necessarily by blood, but by choice. The action and suspense are off the charts, and kept me guessing what was coming next, and although I am not typically a fan of insta-love, the romance piece is done quite nicely, and I am totally here for it.

The next sister to get her story is pepper pot Liliana, with WILD SPIRIT, and I can only imagine that the sass will be strong with that one, and I cannot wait. In the meantime, if romantic suspense is your jam (and even if it isn’t, because these books are absolutely readable page-turners), you must dig in and meet this WILD BEAUTY. ❤️

Well, it’s happened. I have read my most favorite K. Bromberg book of all, and that’s saying something, given my rekindled love for Kristy and her writing. Yep, Gunner and Chase totally owned me, and I have nothing but love for their story, HARD TO LOSE.

I read a lot of books, and there are plenty that I really like, and that stay with me, and among them there are the ones that dazzle me, that just really resonate for one reason or another. When it comes time for my yearly list of ‘Favorite Reads,’ it’s not so hard to pull one together, because they are the books that I am still thinking about long after I’ve read them. When I make the list for this year, there’s no doubt that HARD TO LOSE will be on it, because I am so in love with this book.

Ryan ‘Gunner’ Camden stole my heart in every single way, not the least of which is the way that he loved Chase Kinkade. For someone that has experienced so much pain and loss, his heart, whether he believes it or not, is wide open, and full of so much love and care for others. And for Chase, driven, self-sufficient, successful Chase, Gunner is just the person that she needs, whether she knows it or not. The two of them together smooth out all of the broken, jagged edges, and make the most beautiful whole.

Look, I could obviously go on and on, because this book touched me very much. I have loved the whole Play Hard series, but this book is the one. It’s sexy and sweet and redemptive and healing, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Do yourself a favor and make this a must-read-soon addition to your TBR. ❤️

Tracey’s Review

When choosing to read a book by a new-to-me author, blurbs are fairly important. At the very least, I want to have general knowledge of the story that I’m about to immerse myself (or not) in. When I read the synopsis for MAD ABOUT EWE by Susannah Nix, there was no question that this one was going on my TBR. As a proud child of the 70’s and 80’s, the description appealed right away, and the fact that it was part of the Smartypants Romance lineup was an added bonus.

So, in I dove, and from the very first, I loved everything about this book. The characters are my generation, which is a definite plus, because as a woman of a certain age, peers in romance novels are fairly few and far between. Both Dawn and Mike have lived full and varied lives since they first knew each other in high school, making their reunion much more interesting to me.

Pop references, realistically adult conversations, and characters that know who they are made this one a hit for me. Not only could I relate to Dawn and Mike, I wouldn’t mind hanging out with them, and would be more than happy to see more of them. All of this adds up to a success, as far as I’m concerned.

I’m hoping that Susannah will be bringing more of her talent for storytelling to future books in this series, and look forward to seeing what’s in store for the Common Threads world. A definitive thumbs-up for MAD ABOUT EWE, a book that gets my ‘absolutely would recommend’ seal of approval. ❤️

Okay, so, I’m not a huge fan of mafia romances…BUT…I am a huge fan of author Kristen Proby, and her With Me In Seattle series, and she’s written some mafia books that are interconnected with the Seattle series. Am I going to read them, love them, and ask for more? I don’t want to be swimming with the fishes, so you bet the heck I am.

So, UNDERBOSS. If I could have envisioned the perfect mob couple, Carmine Martinelli and Nadia Tarkenov are it. Carmine is 100 percent alpha, in control, “family” man to the core. Nadia’s not taking any, erm, stuff from anyone, and can handle the business like a pro. These two are a match made in mafia heaven…savvy, sexy, strong, and getting things done.

Once I started UNDERBOSS, I could not put it down, and when I got to the end, I wanted more. More Carmine and Nadia, to be sure, but also more Shane, more Rocco, just more. Luckily for us, the other Martinelli brothers have stories of their own coming our way, and they promise to be just as full of intrigue, passion, and action as UNDERBOSS.
