“I don’t.” I shake my head vigorously while running my hands across his chest again. Really really nice chest hair.

“Glad to hear it.”

“Would it have been a deal-killer if I had?” I press. Why in the hell am I asking? Now I’m laughing too. At myself.

“I think we could have worked something out.” Teddy manages to say this like he means it, which is rather nice of him.

“Thanks.”

“Do you have any others?”

“Fetishes?” I perk up. I don’t actually, but it’s nice to be asked, isn’t it? Maybe I can develop one. A really good one I can use to establish my street cred on the kink scene in Reindeer Falls.

As if Reindeer Falls has a kink scene.

I start laughing again.

“Bad Christmas jokes,” Teddy clarifies with an amused grin.

“Oh, those. For sure.”

“You’re a lot of fun, Noel.”

“Agreed,” I say with a straight face.

“A half-naked woman telling bad Christmas jokes is every man’s fantasy, am I right? Wait, unless…” I drag out the pause, a dramatic frown covering my face. “Unless bad Christmas jokes are your fetish?”

“Did you have any siblings?” he asked.

She shook her head. “Just me and endless aunts and uncles of the theater.”

“When did you finally get to pursue your own dream of college?”

“I left them when I was nineteen. Took my GED, applied to the local community college, and got a job working as a secretary. I taught myself to type and did the bills at home and for the current theater project they were involved in, so I had some skills. The rest was easy.”

Meg is still willing to put herself out there and try again while Mac is good with staying unattached and single. They are both scarred from their past. While they both have undeniable chemistry it is evident they want very different things in life. We all know opposites attract!

“Why should I sleep with you?” I cross-examined the witness. It was the only way to manage Byron.

He considered his cup as if committing to his goal, then studied the way my finger tapped the counter as if choosing a strategy, then pondered my face as he decided on his tactic.

“Because you’re wet already,” he said with a deep knowledge of what aroused women looked like. “Because you want what I can give you. Your head hasn’t even acknowledged it, but your body knows.”

“That’s—” I was going to end in a denial, but my nipples were hard. “—not relevant. You and I don’t make sense.”

“That’s correct.” He gulped tea. I left my cup on the counter, refusing the challenge. “We are a disaster. You despise me too much to want a relationship and just enough to turn you on. And from what I can tell, you don’t want to get involved enough to force an ethical quandary. So, if you agree in principal, I have a proposal.”

Agreeing in principle meant revealing how badly my body ached for him.

Disagreeing meant never satisfying that ache.

“I agree in principal.”

“My proposal is one night. One full night…”

I could commit to that, and I was about to when he continued.

“…where I own your body.”

“Wait.”

“You let me own you when we fuck. You come when I say. You obey me without hesitating. That’s what you want and you know it.”

CD Reiss has done it again with her latest release, Iron Crowne. She delivered a sizzling enemies to lovers romance with complex characters. She brings her characters to life through thoughtful descriptions, creative dialogue, and well constructed pacing. She allows her readers to experience all of her characters emotions, drives, and personal growth as they find love with one another.

Olivia Monroe is a smart woman who knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to get it. She’s obsessively independent and has the confidence to chase her dreams. She’s even trying to make her own family without a man. She wants a baby and is taking steps to make that happen. As an environmental lawyer she finds herself up against one of the most powerful developers, Byron Crowne. Although she hates everything he stands for professionally she finds herself drawn to him on another level.

Byron Crowne is one of the most powerful developers in the area. His business practices are not always ethical and questionably on the edge of being legal. His success is due to his ruthless business practices, his need for absolute control, and egotistical personality. He will stop at nothing to ensure his project will go through, not even the beautiful environmental lawyer, Olivia Monroe, can stand in his way. Once he puts his plans into action he finds his need to dominate and control Olivia are taking him into unfamiliar territory.
