My hands landed on my hips. “You can’t set up a mobile office in my bakery.”

“I have to work, Miss Smacker, and I am a paying customer.”

Lip Smacker is the first book I have read by Alison G. Bailey. I found this book utterly delightful with the perfect mixture of southern charm and sizzling hot romance. This book had all the “feel good” moments as well as an emotional story.

Elipheleta ( Lip ) Smacker and her grandmother Wavy co-own a bakery specializing in cupcakes in the Charleston business district. Their bakery has been struggling and could use a boost in business. They need to revamp the decor and get new customers in the door. All the other small business owners on the block have sold out to the developer building an upscale hotel. When they send a representative, Logan Heath, known as the “The Closer”, to try to negotiate the fun begins.

Logan and Lip went to the same high school and she had a secret crush on him. Not that they are both adults they are finding their attraction is very different from casual dating. As they get to know each other they are doing more than negotiating for prime property. They are negotiating for their hearts. Their romance is as delicious as the cupcakes in the bakery!

I thoroughly enjoyed Lip Smacker by Alison G. Bailey. It was a charming romance that has the right amount of angst and red hot romance.

My phone dinged loudly. I fumbled around my bed, finally finding the damn thing under a pillow. Wiping the sleep off my face, I rolled onto my back and read the text that had pulled me out of a pleasant sleep. I smiled. It was just so … Parker. Settling in, I answered her.

RhysThis: Don’t have to tell me who you are. Your number is programmed on my phone. What do you want?

AngryTink: Well, good morning to you too, Happy Pants.

Excerpt:

“Did you have any siblings?” he asked.

She shook her head. “Just me and endless aunts and uncles of the theater.”

“When did you finally get to pursue your own dream of college?”

“I left them when I was nineteen. Took my GED, applied to the local community college, and got a job working as a secretary. I taught myself to type and did the bills at home and for the current theater project they were involved in, so I had some skills. The rest was easy.”

She sipped at the wine, taking her time with the balance and flavor as she let it settle over her tongue and slip down her throat. He shifted in the chair, the heat suddenly strangling him. She was so damn sexy and had no clue. It made it so much harder not to touch her.

“How easy?” he asked.

“I got As, scored a scholarship to Cornell, then came to the city for a more interesting career.”

“Do you see your parents often?”

He wondered when she’d stop answering his questions. He was greedy for anything she’d share, but for now, she seemed open to talking. “No, but we chat on the phone, and when they came here last year for an off-off-Broadway play, they stayed with me for a week. We’re happier when we’re apart. Our personalities just never matched, but we love each other. We’re family.”

Her simple acceptance of her life humbled him. He knew she was no whiner, but it was more than that. She seemed to know who she was to the core and made no apologies—even to her parents. He blinked, caught off guard. “Wait, what did I say wrong? And you know it pisses me off when you don’t use my name.”

The dynamic rom-com tag team, Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby are back with another laugh out loud book in the Man Hands series. Man Cuffed is the fourth book in the series and can be read as a stand alone novel. This fantastic new release with have the readers laughing out loud in pure delight while also fanning themselves from the sizzling hot romance.

Mac Maguire and Meg Matthews are neighbors. They have both had bad experiences in past relationships. Meg is still willing to put herself out there and try again while Mac is good with staying unattached and single. They are both scarred from their past. While they both have undeniable chemistry it is evident they want very different things in life. We all know opposites attract!

It all begins with a hilarious and very embarrassing meeting. As neighbors they begin to build a very good friendship. When Mac needs a fake girlfriend he finds that Meg is the perfect choice. She’s an actress and can easily pull it off. What neither realizes is their hearts and their heads are not on the same page. They have real feelings for one another and their chemistry is undeniable. One kiss changes it all and takes their relationship to a whole new level and the real fun begins!
