Synopsis

From USA Today Bestselling author Adriane Leigh comes a passionate contemporary romance about giving in to desire so sharp and sweet it threatens to consume…

Georgia Montgomery is desperate for an escape from the life she’s been leading. The perfect job, the perfect apartment, the perfect boyfriend—all are on the cusp of driving her over the edge. On a whim, she buys a beach house on the North Carolina coast, eager to spend a summer with her college friends. She thinks she’s found the perfect balance, until one pleasure-seeking playboy turns her world on its axis. Georgia tries to ignore the tornado of emotion that sweeps through her system whenever Tristan Howell is near, but just like an addiction, one look, one taste, one touch is never enough.

The chemistry is scorching and it isn’t long before the slow burn ignites into a full-blown wildfire that threatens to consume anything in its path. But Georgia and Tristan can’t shelter their love from the outside world, and the moments of exquisite passion they share aren’t enough to sustain the relationship. When scars from the past resurface–will their hearts meld together as one? Or will outside forces tear them apart, leaving an empty shell where love and passion once thrived?

*Note: The characters in Sweet Alibi are real and flawed–they make bad decisions and learn hard lessons. It contains a love triangle, a sweet alpha-male with a broken heart, and a leading lady that doesn’t always know what she wants. If you love a character-driven romance with a hard-fought happily-ever-after, Sweet Alibi is for you. (Formerly The Morning After-Light in Morning duet, now with more than 10,000 words of never-before-published BONUS content!)

Tracey’s Review

***4.5 Steamy, Star-Crossed, Emotional Stars***

So, I have to admit that I’m not always a huge fan of the love triangle. It’s a really fine line between well done and, well, icky, and it takes a really engaging story and well-written characters to make it work for me. Happily, Adriane Leigh has done a great job with all of these things to give us her latest, SWEET ALIBI.

I went into this book knowing that it had some taboo, triangly stuff, but I’ve read and loved Adriane’s books before, so was really excited to see what she’d do here. First off, let me just tell you that I am in love with Tristan Howell. It would have been easy to keep him a one-dimensional sort of guy, the other guy, to make her heroine, Georgia, a girl that ‘just couldn’t help herself.’ Nope. What Adriane has done is taken two characters, ones with baggage and flaws, and allowed them to have the experience of building their own story, regardless of what’s come before. Is it messy? Sometimes. Does it cross lines? Definitely. Did the book edge into the ‘no how, no way’ area? Well, Georgia and Tristan definitely did things differently than I’d like to think that I would, but it was their story to tell, and I could not have loved it more.

I really like that the book is broken into two parts, and is told from both Tristan’s and Georgia’s point of view. Adriane does a wonderful job of developing their story, both individually, and as a couple. As I was reading, I remember thinking, ‘Dang, this book is long!’, but I’m not sure that it could have been any shorter and been as enjoyable or as complete. It was impossible not to become completely immersed and invested in the characters and their stories, and I didn’t stop reading until I hit the last page.

The cast of supporting characters, from the d-bag Kyle, to Georgia’s and Tristan’s best friends Drew, Gavin, and Silas (oh, my gosh, I LOVE Silas! Every girl needs a Silas, I’m telling you…), help make SWEET ALIBI the enjoyable and unputdownable read that it is. I applaud Adriane for combining her THE MORNING AFTER/LIGHT IN THE MORNING duet, and adding bonus material, because this book is now one big wonderful book. If you’re looking for a read to pick you up, draw you in, and not let you out of its amazing hold until you reach THE END, SWEET ALIBI is the one for you. Go ahead and add it to your TBR, but don’t wait too long to dive in, because it is going to be one of your favorite reads lately, I guarantee.

In New York City, an underground society of supernatural beings exists, hidden among everyday humans. They don’t know of our activities or any of our secrets.

The districts of the Works are made up of vampires, wolves, shifters, witches, and I’m in the fifth and arguably most important district, the Patchwork. My father is the leader of our group, and he oversees all of the other factions.

As his only daughter, that makes me the princess of it all. Cool, right? Actually…no. Sure, I live in a mansion and money isn’t an object, but that doesn’t matter because I can’t leave. I have a guard who follows me around 24/7. My father and three older brothers treat me like I’m a fragile piece of glass, never allowed to take an independent step or make any decisions on my own.

It’s beyond frustrating—especially since my father essentially runs my life. He says what I do, when I do it, how I do it, and all that jazz. He tests his formulas and new techniques on me. I’m a walking science experiment.

I hate it.

I hate my life here.

But then he comes along: Killian.

He’s just some vampire…or so I thought.

But you’ll have to read my story to find out what I mean. To know my secrets. Until then, though, allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Rebecca von Stein.

And I’m a descendant of Dr. Frankenstein.

Welcome to the Works.

Michel’s Review

Are you afraid of monsters?  Are you afraid of things that go bump in the night?  You should be,  there’s a secret underground society of supernatural beings ready to send chills down your spine.

In today’s modern society monsters are still a very real thing.  The difference is that they try to stick within their complex underground world known as the Works.  Within the Works, there are the vampires, the witches, the shifters, the wolves, and the Patchworks. Inter marriage between the factions is forbidden. Arranged marriages are the norm.  Rebellion is death…even if you are immortal.

The Patchworks are decedents of Dr. Frankenstein, and the most powerful district within the Works.  They are immortals and very powerful because they possess the secret formula for immortality as well as healing formulas/ solutions which could enhance longevity among the non immortals in the Works.  Each faction is vying for the power the Stein family has over the Works.  The shifters want immortality and are willing to do anything to get it, including kidnapping  Rebecca von Stein.  Alliances are being formed and the Works is in an uproar.

The Von Stein family is on high alert.  Rebecca von Stein is the only female in the family and highly valued.  They will do anything to protect her, including imprisoning her within her family home.  Rebecca has a secret that the Von Stein family wants to keep hidden.  They will go to any lengths including murdering innocents, imprisoning members of the Works, and arranging marriages.  Their ruthlessness to protect Rebecca is appalling.  Rebecca is trying to survive her own home in order to break free and become the being she was truly meant to be.  Her family destroyed her love.  Her family is destroying every part of her life.  Her father is the worst monster of them all. He’s breaking her piece by piece… Run Rebecca Run!

T. Aleo wrote a truly authentic and original paranormal that left me reeling.  The complex world of the Works was intriguing, frightening, and interesting.  The characters were strong and dynamic in their own individual ways.  I am looking forward to more from this new unique paranormal series.

Synopsis

EVERYTHING

Music was was part of my DNA, pumping hard through my veins, resonating deep within my bones. Not surprising, considering my dad was a global rock star and my mom had the voice of a fallen angel.

With my twin sister by my side in our indie-rock duo, Singed Wings, we were ready to finally see our name in lights when we opened for the hottest act to sell out stadiums – Jobu’s Rum Summer Reunion Tour.

The life I’d always wanted was finally within my reach. All I had left to do was finish out my last semester of high school.

But there was one problem: Ms. Sloan, the new art history teacher.

The same Ms. Sloan I’d met as Belle, the sexy little pixie who’d captivated me at a New Year’s Eve concert last year.

The same Ms. Sloan who’d owned nearly every one of my thoughts since that night.

The same Ms. Sloan whose class I was in danger of failing.

With my dream gig dangling just on the other side of that cap and gown, all of my focus should’ve been on my school work and improving my music as I prepared for my big shot to rock the world…

But I never expected her to rock mine first… and to change everything.

“I-I-I’m Ms. Sloan,” I managed to squeak out, “the new Art History teacher here.”

Staggering backward a few steps, she gaped at me in disbelief as all of the color drained from her face. “Say what?”

I nodded and pointed over to my car, where the faculty parking tag hung from my rearview mirror. “Yeah, that’s my car. I was leaving for the day and realized I’d forgotten my phone upstairs,” I explained, lifting my cell up in the air.

“Oh, fuck me,” she mumbled, squeezing her eyes shut and covering her face with her hands. “I’m so sorry. I thought you were someone else, and I tend to get a little overprotective when it comes to my brother, and—”

“It’s okay,” I assured her, reaching out to touch her arm so she’d stop and look at me. “Seriously, no harm, no foul. We can just pretend this never happened.”

Tilting her head slightly to the side, she studied me for a couple of seconds, and then a brilliant smile lit up her pretty face. “But you are her, aren’t you?” she whispered.

My lack of an answer confirmed what she already knew and she started bouncing up and down on her toes, clapping excitedly. “Oh wow! This is so exciting, a forbidden romance. I knew when Everett finally did it, he’d do it big.”

I wasn’t sure how to take the last part of her comment, but I chose to ignore it for the time being and focus on the first part. “No, there is nothing exciting, no romance,” I stressed. “I’m his teacher and he is my student. That’s it. Nothing more.”

“Okay, Ms. Sloan. I hear ya… nothing more.” She smirked sassily, as if she didn’t believe anything I was saying. “And my lips are sealed. Promise.”

She pretended like she zipped up her mouth and threw away the key then sauntered off toward a flashy silver Mercedes, waving bye to me before she lowered herself onto the driver’s seat. I peered down at the phone in my hands. 4:08. Shit. Now, I was late.

By the time I found the restaurant and joined my coworkers at the bar, I wasn’t sure if the restaurant had enough tequila for the amount I needed to drink.

Michel’s Review

Do you love rock star romances?  Do you love teacher / student romances?  Do you love Cougar romances?  If the answer is yes to any of the above questions, Everything by Erin Noelle is the book to read.  It is quite different from all of the above romance themes and can stand on it’s own merit.  A teenage boy (almost 18) falling for an older woman, a woman that is his teacher.

When Belle Sloan accepted a temporary teaching job in Houston, TX, she saw this as a new beginning.  She’s finally has her masters degree, has moved on from a bad relationship, and is starting a new career.  She never anticipated that she would meet someone the first few days in town.  She never expected to become mesmerized by the lead singer of Singed Wings.  Finally cupid is shooting in her favor, or so she thought.  A fun night on New Year’s Eve with a smokin hot rocker leads to a very bad new year.  The following Tuesday she starts her job as a high school art history teacher.  To  her great surprise and utter dismay, her rocker hottie is her student.  Now she could be facing the loss of her career before it even began and just might face prison time.  She has to put this mistake behind her and make sure it’s kept quiet.

Everett Templeton is rock and roll royalty. He’s learned to be cautious, selective, and private in his life.  Unlike his twin sister, he is reserved, mature, and wise beyond his years. When he meets a woman at his New Year’s Eve gig, he’s finally ready to throw caution to the wind.  She’s his perfection.  When she disappears that night, he’s hoping he will see her again at his next show.  He didn’t realize he would see her when he went back to school.  It doesn’t matter that he is almost eighteen.  It doesn’t matter that he only has one semester before he graduates.  Belle is beyond his reach.

The heart wants what it wants.  Cupid’s arrow has struck both Belle and Everett.  They are going to have a difficult journey but the rewards are worth it.  The heart wants what it wants.

Erin Noelle did an excellent job writing this book.  I was a bit leary of it because I am a mother of a teenage boy.  On a daily basis I see the immaturity that most teenage boys possess.  Being in a relationship with an older woman would not work.  Everett was unique and an old soul.  Erin handled the relationship with the utmost care and sensitivity.

What do you get when you mix a bachelorette party, the queen of dating disasters, and a stripper so hot he was forged from the fires of hell? Screwed. You get screwed….

Cocky. Commanding. Powerful. Relentless.

Those four words all summed up West Rykman perfectly.

So did filthy, dirty, sexy, and addictive.

He was supposed to be my one night stand…not my new marketing client.

He was definitely not supposed to be back inside my pants, not that anybody told him that.

I knew one thing: What West Rykman wanted, West Rykman got.

And he wanted me.

What happens in Vegas… might just make you stay.

“You should have come and got me when that prick made you uncomfortable.”

I turned to face him. “Are you seriously telling me off?”

We paused as the traffic stopped, and he cut his gaze to me. “I couldn’t see you. I told you it wasn’t safe for you to go alone.”

I rolled my eyes. “He was only there for two minutes. I would have stabbed him with my stiletto before he could do anything.”

“And I believe you, but it doesn’t change the fact that he made you uncomfortable.”

We turned a corner.

“I don’t want anything to happen to you just because you’re determined to do market research.”

“Nothing happened to me.”

“Mia, it doesn’t change the fact that it couldn’t. He only left because I showed up. I watched the entire fucking thing.”

“And you only came in at the end? Gee, thanks, West. Knight in fucking shining armor right there, aren’t you?” I ran my fingers through my hair and looked away. The light curls were still in place, although they were more of a lazy wave, and I stared at my reflection in the side mirror. “We should probably not do this again.”

“On the contrary, I was having fun until the end. I don’t have fun much.”

“Looking out for me was fun? Yeah, okay.”

“I told you,” he said, pulling up outside my apartment block, which was really more of a converted three-story house. “I don’t want anything to happen to you. I’d feel bad.”

“Well, thanks. I’m gonna look over these notes in the morning and I’ll e-mail you. Okay?” I paused with my hand on the door and glanced back at him.

He was out of the fucking car.

Why was he out of the fucking car?

“Why are you out of the car?”

He smirked. Damn that smirk. “I’m taking you up.”

“Like hell you are.” I slammed the door and walked around the sleek Audi to stand right in front of him. I looked up at him and caught his gaze. “I can make it in and out of an elevator.”

“I’m sure you can. But I’m still taking you up.”

“No. You’re not!”

“All right, then.” He grabbed my waist and lifted me.

A shriek escaped between my lips as he swung me upward and over his shoulder. I scrambled to keep hold of my purse, but he ignored me as he carried me inside and pushed the elevator button.

“West! Put me down right now!”

He ignored me again and tightened his grip around my thighs when I tried to wriggle down. His strength was crazy. I was stuck there.

“Put me down! Now!”

He shook his head, this time acknowledging my words. But that was it. A fucking head shake.

“This is hardly professional!” I yelled, my voice echoing off walls of the metal box that was the elevator. I couldn’t believe he’d slung me over his shoulder like some kind of caveman.

Yo, Wilma, Betty? Fred and Barney escaped. I found one of them.

“West Rykman, I swear to a god I don’t believe in that, if you don’t put me down right this goddamn second, I’m going to tear your balls off with my bare hands and shove them up your ass!”

The elevators doors opened, and he took the few steps toward my door before finally, slowly, lowering me back down to the ground.

“Ugh!” As soon as my feet hit the floor, I stepped back and glared at him. “How dare you manhandle me?”

He fixed his bright, Caribbean-blue eyes on mine and curved his lips. “I told you I was taking you upstairs. I didn’t tell you I was walking you up.”

“You’re an animal.”

“You weren’t coming up alone. I was raised a gentleman.”

That made me stop rummaging for my keys and raise my eyebrows in disbelief. “You take off your clothes for a living, and the first time we met, you flexed your cock against my face.”

He grabbed my waist for a second time tonight and spun me against my door. I dropped my purse in my shock, but I couldn’t reach for it because he’d cupped my chin and forced me to look at him.

“And the second time we met,” he said in a low voice, “you flexed my cock against the back of your throat. What point are you trying to make, angel?”

“That you’re no more a gentleman than I am a lady,” I shot back. “Now, let me go so I can go inside and consider how we continue this professional relationship.”

West searched my eyes for a long moment before dropping his hand. He took half a step back, and I went to reach for my purse, but he changed his mind.

He smoothly spun back to me, and no sooner had I met the flash of his blue eyes than he had his mouth on mine. I let out a quiet moan when he swept his tongue across the seam of my lips and wrapped one arm around my waist. He pulled our bodies together, my shoulders pressing into the door, and kissed me deeply.

My head swam. I couldn’t make head or tails of this, and although it was wrong, so wrong, I couldn’t stop.

The kiss was hot—oh god, so hot—and my whole body felt like it was on fire as I wound my fingers in the collar of his shirt and held him closer to me. His fingers twitched against my back as one of his hands slid down and cupped my ass. He squeezed, pulling my hips to his. His erection was obvious, pushing into me, and I whimpered into his mouth.

God, I wanted him.

He pulled away from me as abruptly as he’d kissed me, but he didn’t move. His mouth eased its way across my jaw to my ear, and his hot breath skittered across my skin when he paused there.

“I might call you angel, but I have a feeling you’re going to be my own personal sin, Mia O’Halloran.”

He kissed the tender spot just beneath my ear, making me shiver, and released me. I struggled to control my breathing as I watched him walk away toward the stairwell. He paused at the top, and I sank my teeth into my bottom lip.

He turned.

Dropped his gaze to my mouth.

Met my eyes.

Disappeared.

I sank back against my door. I could still feel his touch. His taste lingered on my lips, and although it wasn’t anything incredibly specific, he was there, teasing me without being near me. I brushed hair from my face, picked my purse up, and dug for my key. I found it and let myself into the dark apartment.

I locked the door behind me and walked to my bed. I’d barely undressed and retrieved my phone with its alarm before I buried myself beneath the sheets.

Shit.

Tracey’s Review

***5+ Oh, My, Goodness, I’m In Love Stars***

Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh, Emma Hart, you’re killing me.

I have only fairly recently come to know Emma Hart’s books, but, I am telling you, she is freaking awesome. There is not one book of hers that I have not devoured within hours of picking it up. She writes dialogue like nobody’s business, storylines that pull you in from word 1, and characters that you a) want to spend time with yourself, and b) are sexy, funny, snarky, and, oh, did I say sexy?

STRIPPED BARE, Emma’s most recent book, had me from the first scene. I’m all about a good ‘girlfriends hanging out together and shaking things up’ scenario, and this book started out with a bang. Mia and her friends are funny, no-holds-barred, tell it like it is, ladies. They’ve known each other forever, and, so, to celebrate their friend Allie’s upcoming nuptials, have gone to, where else, Vegas, to, what else, a male strip club. But not just any male strip club. Rock Solid boasts some of the hottest dancers around, and when the tables are turned and Mia gets a taste of her own medicine, she gets to see just how hot up close and personal.

West Rykman. Oh.My.Gosh. Let me just tell you, if this man was shaking his moneymaker at me, all bets would be off. And Mia obviously feels the same way, because, yeah. Suffice to say that much action ensues, and it is blisteringly hot. And, while they say that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, maybe not so much…

I cannot really express how much I loved STRIPPED BARE. It is a dirty sexy romp of a story, but there is much more to it. There are many layers to both Mia and West, and it is a pure delight to watch them discover together that they might just have to take a risk and go all in to get to where they are meant to be. And, the cast of characters helping them along, from Mia’s girls, to her mom (oh, my gosh, her mom!), to Beck (I’m a little bit in love with Beckett Cruz, y’all), all of them help make this book all that it is.

If you haven’t guessed yet, I LOVE this book. STRIPPED BARE is one of my favorite reads this year, and that’s saying something. I cannot recommend it any more highly, and happily give it 5+ stars. Don’t just add this one to your TBR, get out there and read this book now. Do it. You can thank me later.

When Cameron and Maya’s destination wedding takes her out of the office for a much-needed break, she finds herself struggling to resist her attraction to the best man. Tracey’s Review

Phew, is it hot in here, or what?! Excuse me while I fan myself, because, oh, my goodness, this book is pretty darned steamy.

As a fan of the Hacker series by author Meredith Wild, I was interested to see what the Bridge series would be like. Although INTO THE FIRE is the second book of the three, it is the first that I have read. Let me tell you two things about this newer set of books that I have discovered so far: 1) Although the characters carry over, I didn’t feel like I had to have read the first book, ON MY KNEES, to follow the storyline in INTO THE FIRE, and 2) This book is just as hot, just as tightly written, as the other books that I’ve read and enjoyed by Meredith.

Darren Bridge is the player of the three Bridge siblings. He’s a hardworking firefighter, but, when it’s playtime, he’s all in. I don’t think that Darren has met many women that he doesn’t like, and he’s sampled his fair share. But when Vanessa Hawkins comes comes onto the scene, it’s different. Longing to leave her smalltown past behind, Vanessa is trying to make her way in the big city, working crazy hours at a thankless job for a domineering boss. There’s just something about Vanessa that calls to Darren, and it isn’t long before things are getting, um, hot and heavy between them.

I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of the insta-love scenario, but, although things move pretty quickly between Darren and Vanessa, the fact that they’ve known each other before the start of this story makes it more believable for me. The chemistry between these two is off-the-charts hot, and Darren is absolutely persuasive. How’s a girl to say no?

I also enjoyed the backstory involving Vanessa and her jerkwad of a boss. I mean, seriously, David Reilly is one heck of a guy, and not in a good way. Meredith had me completely engrossed in the goings-on involving him and his shenanigans, adding a nice twist to the whole story. Capping the book off with the sweet epilogue involving Cam and Maya ended the book in just the right way, and brought everything full circle.

I really enjoyed INTO THE FIRE, and look forward to reading more about Olivia Bridge, the coolly mysterious Bridge sibling, in OVER THE EDGE. If you’re a fan of Meredith’s books, but haven’t picked up this series yet, do it. You will not be sorry.

Excerpt

I leaned down to her level then skimmed the tip of my nose along her jawline, inhaling her intoxicating scent. “But you are out with him? Like together, on a date?”

With a soft moan, her head lolled to the side, granting me access to the smooth, creamy skin of her neck. “Not together,” she rasped, her eyelids fluttering closed. “Friends… we’re just friends. I promise.”

Her words immediately erased most of the anger jetting through my veins. I still wasn’t happy she was out with him, because I knew damned well Mr. Carroll wasn’t interested in being “just friends.” But that was his fucking problem.

“And us?” I asked, as my mouth grazed from her throat to her hairline. “Are we just friends too, beautiful Belle?”

“We’re not friends,” she hissed when I caught her earlobe between my teeth and flicked my tongue over it. “And we shouldn’t… we can’t do this again. I’m your teacher.”

She made no attempt to open her eyes or to move away despite her claim, and I had no intention of stopping until she explicitly told me to. As she fought her own inner battle of right versus wrong, mind against body, I planned on showing her every reason we absolutely should and could do it again. And again and again.

“Indeed you are, Ms. Sloan,” I murmured against her delicate flesh, ghosting kisses from her ear to her barely-parted lips. “But right now, I think it’s time you learn a little lesson of your own.”

My mouth slammed down on hers, swallowing whatever her response was going to be. The lesson I had in mind involved a lot of doing, and not much talking. The question and answer portion came after the hands-on demonstration.

I swept my tongue across her lips, and she opened up for me without any resistance. My dick throbbed and twitched against my zipper as her hands fisted my shirt and tugged me closer. Our tongues melted together, the intensity of the kiss building deeper and deeper until I had to break free.

“Everett,” she breathed, reaching for me as I drew back. God, the sound of my name on her lips, full of desperate need, was like a direct hit of lightning between my legs. Instantly, I was rock-fucking-hard.

Belle Sloan awakened the untamed, possessive animal that lurked inside me. One I never knew existed before her. And there was no way of putting him back in his cage now.

Synopsis

When my husband Oliver died, my life ended. My purpose, my passion, my everything bled out with him on the side of the Pacific Coast Highway.

Ollie was an organ donor. His eyes, his brain, his lungs, his heart…parts of my Ollie went out and saved lives.

Then his heart, beating in another man’s chest, found its way back to me, and I found myself faced with an impossible choice: hold on to the pain and beauty of the past and the memory of the man I loved, or reach for a bold new future, knowing each heartbeat will be a reminder of all I’ve lost.

* * *

I wasn’t supposed to live past thirty.

My grandfather died at forty-five. Heart failure.

My father died at thirty-eight. Heart failure.

The doctors told me my whole life that I wouldn’t see my thirty-first birthday. My heart was going to give out. It was just a matter of time: a rare blood type and an unusually large heart meant essentially zero chance of a transplant.

I proved them all wrong…by dying on my thirty-first birthday.

And then I woke up, alive, with another man’s heart inside my chest, and his widow on my conscience.

I spent my whole life preparing for death, and now I have to learn how to live. Only, as I soon discovered, living is the easy part.

Loving, and allowing myself to be loved…well, that’s a whole lot harder.
This is a standalone second chance romance like you’ve never read before.

Michel’s Review

We’ve all seen movies and read books where the heart plant patient finds the donor’s loved one and realizes their new heart still belongs to them.  These gut wrenching stories never fail to have me in tears and emotionally wrapped up in the characters lives.  It’s the same story told by different storytellers that always touches a piece of my heart.  Jasinda Wilder put her own spin on the story.  She gave here characters more than a second chance at life, love, and happiness.  She made them earn their happiness.  She took them both on a journey long after their hearts began beating once again. It wasn’t the physical rhythms that enabled their hearts but rather the metaphysical beats that defined their souls.  This book was not an instal-love or my heart only belongs to you sort of story. It’s a story of two people brought together because of one heart and staying together because of two hearts.  It’s the true gift of giving your heart and soul to another and trusting them to cherish it.

Lachlan Montgomery had only one goal in life.  His goal was to make it to his thirty first birthday.  He lived his life waiting to die.  Rather than making the most of his short life, a life that would leave his legacy behind, he chose to live life on the edge, flirting with death daily.  He selfishly abused each moment he was gifted.  He carelessly philandered his precious moments with booze, women, and adrenaline highs.  Why not… he was never meant to live after thirty.  He was supposed to die.  He did die.  A miracle happened that changed everything he’s ever known, hoped for, or desired.  Now he’s hopelessly lost.  He doesn’t know who Lock Montgomery is or who he should be.  His new life leads him on a journey to find out about the heart that beats within his chest.  He never imagined that journey would lead him to finding his true heart, the one that was always hidden by the defective one that beat in his chest.

Niall James died the same day her husband died in the horrible car accident.  Her body was still alive but her soul was dead.  She’s existing but not living until she meets Lock Montgomery.  Something about the man calls to the soul she thought died.  When she’s finally coming to life she finds out Lock’s horrible secret.  He has her husband’s heart.  The heart that chose her.  Can she accept Lock for the man he is or is she just trying to hang on to her dead husband?

Lock’s secret is the easy part for both of them.  Learning to live is the most difficult journey they both will take.  It will take soul searching, trials and tribulations, self truths, and sheer determination to find what really makes their hearts tick.

Jasinda Wilder added so many layers to this story.  She took her characters on a journey of self discovery.  She gave them each their own crosses to bear and their own moments of truth.  What made this story stand out besides the romantic side was the journey they traveled.  They had to earn their gift of living full, complete lives.

Read Yours by Jasinda Wilder!

good starLis Review

I must admit, I’m not a big fan of science fiction. Too much effort is needed to picture the world and I really have to read the details, sometimes over and over, to get that picture to form. I’m sure you know what I mean.. there’s satellites, and spaceships with weird names and all the jargon for ordinary items that if they just called a gun a gun it would be so much easier. Yes.. I guess that means I’m a lazy reader.

However, Elusive Radiance was such an easy read and the characters’ personalities jumped right out that I didn’t mind reading all the details of the world in which they live. Aidee Ladnier made the terminology fade into the background and in my opinion that makes this a good story.

We meet Security Officer Anais and Delegate Savea Blackmum as they first meet, just before Savea has to represent her planet for the first time at a major trade conference. Savea needs to make a good impression, and fortunately for her Anais is not only well trained to be a bodyguard but has studied the business of the different delegates at this conference so is able to help Savea navigate the negotiation process to get to the best contacts. The attraction between them is instantaneous and neither one lets the difference in their status or class keep them apart. Anais is smart as well as skillful. Savea is more than just a delegate and does what she feels is right at the end to enable Anais to gain her freedom and travel wherever she wants to go. Their time together is short but they make the most of it in order to be able to even consider a future together.

The story was compact as one would expect for a story of only 41 pages, but there was a lot of detail that brought all the scenes to life. This story was like the tip of the iceberg of the relationship between Anais and Savea. I wish we had more of a chance to explore their relationship. Perhaps this author will expand on their story in a future book.

Tracey’s Review

The unlikely love story between Jenny Roscoe and Drake ‘Doomsday’ Davenport began at age 10, when they recognized each other as a safe place, each accepting the other for who and what they were. Against all odds, and across years, the love that they felt for each other was tested, time and again, until their differences proved to be too much. But as two halves of a whole, Jenny and Drake prove that time and distance is no barrier to true love.

When given the opportunity to read DOOMSDAY LOVE by author Shanora Williams, I jumped right in. I am a sucker for books about MMA/fighters, and this one seemed to be a perfect fit. Let me begin by saying that, while I appreciate the appeal of the New Adult genre, I am not their biggest fan, mostly because I am rather far beyond the age range covered. That being said, I have to say that Shanora has done a fine job of writing a book that will appeal to a variety of readers.

While the ‘Past’ part of the story was important for background, I especially enjoyed the ‘Present’ part of the book, and felt more connected with the characters once they’d had a chance to grow into themselves, and find themselves as individuals. Drake, especially, emerged as a man that has learned from his past, and is willing to continue to evolve in order to be better in every way.

If you’re a fan of second-chance romances interwoven with redemption, forgiveness, and new beginnings, DOOMSDAY LOVE is for you. Don’t wait to add it to your TBR.
