Chelsey Young’s dad was a rock star. Glamorous, right? But late nights, frequent travelling, and watching endless women rub their bodies against Lukas Young’s in a bid for his attention wasn’t exactly how Chelsey planned to spend her senior year of high school.

So when Kye Burke, of the ultra-sexy band Dirty B, sets his sights on Chelsey, she figures the best way to get him off her back is by taking his sexy butt to bed.

But after one night together, Kye has no intention of staying away from Chelsey, especially when she’s kissing him one minute then pushing him away the next. From watching her father, Chelsey knows the rock star lifestyle that Kye leads—being away for long stretches of time, girls throwing themselves at him on the regular, shirtless photos showing up in his inbox ten times a day. She wants no part of it.

Kye is determined for Chelsey to get to know him, the real him behind the rock star persona. But that isn’t so easy when Kye’s schedule will take him away for days, weeks, even a month or two at a time, which is a dealbreaker for Chelsey. Long distance means temptation to stray, and infidelity was the reason her own parents split. She knows it’s not fair to project her own insecurities onto Kye, but some things are unavoidable.

But Kye Burke isn’t Lukas Young.

And, distance or not, he’s going to damn well prove it.

“What,” Chelsey exclaims, “the hell is that?”

With a wide smile spreading across my face, I shove my hands in my pockets like a teenage boy and look at her. “A Christmas tree.”

“Are those . . . penises?”

“Technically, dildos.”

“Like real ones?” She jerks her alarmed gaze to me.

“No. Just plastic.”

She flicks her tongue across her lips. “Uh-huh. Why do you have penises across your Christmas tree?”

“Because he’s an immature little bastard,” Leila answers for me.

“You didn’t stop me,” I shoot back.

“Hell no I didn’t. I cannot wait to see Mom’s face when she sees this!”

“When she sees what?” Mom’s voice creeps through the house ominously, and the close of the door after her sounds like the signal that I should run away.

“Uh . . . I’m just gonna go . . .to the store. . . .” I shuffle toward the door that connects the front room with the kitchen.

Chelsey lifts her eyebrows in amusement, and Dad grabs the back of my shirt so I can’t escape.

You wouldn’t think I was twenty-four. For numerous reasons, obviously.

“Kye Burke, why are there tiny penises on my Christmas tree?”

Her voice is calm. Really calm. I’m even more convinced that I should run. “Merry Cock-mas?”

Mom’s expression is somewhere between insane amusement and extreme frustration.

“I’m just gonna come back later . . .” Chelsey whispers, edging toward the living room door. “When there are less . . . cocks.”

“Good idea! I’ll come with you.” I wrestle out of Dad’s grip and dart behind him, through the kitchen, and into the hall.

Chelsey laughs and grabs my arm, dragging me back into the room. “I said I was going. I didn’t say you were escaping this cock-up.”

“Great choice of words,” Dad chuckles.

Mom pinches the bridge of her nose. “I should have known that when three boys left, one boy would have to make the impression of three,” she says, mostly to herself. “I should have known that the one who never left his little peep alone at two would one day decorate my tree in cocks.”

“Mom! What the hell?” I sputter.

“I should have known that his ball-hoarding obsession at six was a sign of things to come,” she sighs heavily and drops her hand. “After all, there’s one in every boyband. I thought I was ready for this.” Then, she turns to me. “Kye, son, we love you anyway, but I have to ask. Are you gay?”

Chelsey lets go of me, and laughter rips from her. Leila laughs, too, her book falling to the floor. Dad covers his face with his hands, and Mom just stands there in the middle of the room, her eyes wide. Her hands are now clasped in front of her sympathetically, and the tiny upturn of the right side of her mouth explains it all.

“Well played, Mother,” I say reluctantly, walking back toward the front door. “Well. Played.”

 4.5 StarTracey’s Review

Chelsey Young has seen what it’s like to be involved with a rockstar. As the daughter of one herself, she’s experienced first hand what the long-distance, fame, and endless temptation can do to a marriage, and she wants none of it. Kye Burke, one fourth of the band the Dirty B.’s, understands why Chelsey’s gun shy about getting involved with him, but he’s up to the task of showing her just how different he is.

“Know that if you fight this, it’s futile. I know you love me, and I’m so…in love with you that the idea of letting you go is a…fairy tale. I don’t do fairy tales. I do real life, and you’re my real life. I’m gonna fight for this, for you, until your feel the same as I do.”

DIRTY TRICKS is the fourth book in Emma Hart’s The Burke Brothers series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Because of the heartbreak she’s dealt with at the hands of her famous father, Chelsey has perfected the tough cookie facade. One night of letting her guard down, of giving in to the heat between her and Kye, though, and it’s all she can do to keep her head when he’s around. As for Kye, he’s wanted Chelsey for as long as he can remember, and he’s not giving up. I really loved watching these two interact, laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Their dialogue is wonderful, and Emma has created a whole cast of characters that are absolutely engaging, and a treat to read. Although this was my first time reading this series, I can’t wait to go back and read all the other books. 4.5 sexy, smart-alecky, heartwarming stars, and a recommendation to add the entire series to your TBR.

The Burke Brothers – Book 2

By Emma Hart

On the heels of Dirty Secret, here is a sizzling hot romance featuring another Burke brother and the girl he can’t resist, from the New York Times bestselling author of the Game series.

Walking out on my wedding wasn’t my best idea.

Neither was throwing my cell in the lake and taking a job as PA for Dirty B, America’s favorite rock band, complete with every teen girl’s dream man, the eldest of the Burke brothers.

Tate Burke is pure sex. Women actually throw their panties at him during shows. And Ella Dawson is the lucky little thing that gets to escort their fangirling butts out when he’s done with them.

Yay.

He’s a cocky son of a bitch, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. Every now and then Ella gets a rare glimpse of the Tate behind the “bad boy” act, and it attracts her in the most annoying way. The most annoying, heart-thumping, panty-wetting way.

When her abusive ex turns up at the hotel room Ella and Tate are sharing, raging mad, she knows she’ll need more than just a little protection. Tate sees red, and Ella can’t help but lean on him, despite his bad-boy ways.

And now? Now, he’s in a whole lot of trouble.

Aidan Burke is the perfect rebound guy for Jessie Law after she catches her asshole ex-boyfriend with his hands down some other girl’s pants. The world-famous drummer of Dirty B isn’t shy about his preference for no-strings-attached relationships, so when she meets him on a night out, she takes him up on his simple proposal: One night of fun. Hot sex. Zero expectations.

But Dirty B’s tour is over, and they’re back in South Carolina—which means running into Aidan more often than Jessie would like.

When Aidan saves Jessie from her ex-boyfriend by insisting the two are dating, the band’s manager convinces them to keep up the charade in the hopes of re-inventing Dirty B’s image as lovable bad boys, as opposed to d-bags. Now all Aidan and Jessie have to do is put on a very obvious, very public show to convince everyone their affection is real.
But pretending to be in a relationship is harder than it seems. Aidan’s hordes of jealous fans have no problem bombarding Jessie with threatening messages online—and worse. And things only get more complicated when Jessie realizes her feelings for Aidan may not be so fake after all. Can Jessie live with the risks? And is Aidan willing to let her?

A girl walks into a bar…

What happens when an Uptown Girl connects with a man from the other side of the tracks? Pure chemistry, plain and simple. Samantha Jamieson has never wanted for anything. Living a life of privilege, she’s never lacked anything, except unconditional love and the chance to live life on her terms. Clay Kincaid’s childhood is the stuff of nightmares, but he’s finally put his past behind him, creating a life that he can be happy with. When Samantha, running from a fate that she can’t abide, finds herself in Clay’s bar, it isn’t long before ‘Saint’ Clay comes riding to the rescue, and life as they know it takes a most interesting detour.

I have long been a fan of both Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde, so imagine my delight in finding out that these two fabulous ladies were collaborating on a sexy new series. DIRTY SEXY SAINT takes the best of both of these authors and gives readers a brand new set of characters to get to know and love. Samantha is the kind of heroine that I love to read. She’s sassy, spunky, and, although her nickname may be Cupcake, she very quickly learns to hold her own. Clay is one heck of a hot alpha, but he’s more than a stereotype. With a childhood fraught with abuse and desperation, he’s locked down emotionally, although he’s a sucker for a lost cause. He hasn’t earned the nickname of ‘Saint’ for nothing, and it isn’t long before he’s helping Sam figure out her life, while she helps him in ways that he never anticipated.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. There is heat galore, intrigue, drama, and the kind of characters that you want more of. I can’t wait to get to know Clay’s brothers, Mason and Levi, better, and am thrilled that they will each get their own book. 4.5 dirty, sexy, sweet, naughty stars for DIRTY SEXY SAINT. Add this one to your TBR and thank me later.

***About Erika Wilde***

Erika Wilde (aka Janelle Denison) is the USA Today bestselling author of over 50 contemporary romances for multiple print publishers.

So, why the new pen name?

As Janelle Denison I’ve always written sexy books, but lately my writing has taken on more erotic elements that I wanted to keep separate for readers because not everyone likes their reading material on the spicier, kinkier side of romance. However, please be assured that even as Erika Wilde, you will still get an emotionally layered story with characters you’ll care about and fall in love with. That is always my goal, whether I’m writing straight contemporary romances, or more erotically charged stories.

Currently, I’m working on The Marriage Diaries and making sure that Dean and Jillian enjoy exploring the more erotic side to their marriage. The series will be on-going, with no foreseeable ending as of right now, for as long as readers want to be voyeurs to Dean and Jillian’s sizzling new relationship.

I’m also planning a spin-off series in the future, featuring the hot military men that work security for Dean at Noble and Associates.

SNEAK PEEK AT XAVIER COLD

“You tired?” he asks.

It doesn’t hit me until he mentions being tired on how exhausted I actually am. Tonight’s been stressful, and I’m sure, if I allow myself to close my eyes for even the briefest time, I’d fall asleep on the spot.

But I refuse to let go of Xavier. When I thought they would lock him up and throw away the key, the opportunity to hold him against me anytime I wanted felt like it was quickly being ripped away. So, for now, I choose to stay here, in his presence, breathing him in as much as I possibly can.

I tilt my head up and stare into his light-blue eyes. “I’m ready for bed, but I don’t want to sleep just yet.”

For the first time since the chaos of the day began, Xavier smiles, but it’s not just any smile. It’s the heart-stopping one-sided smirk that drives me out of my ever-loving mind.

“Have I turned my good girl naughty?”

I give him my best wicked grin. “Afraid so. I can’t seem to get enough of you.”

His large hands cradle my face. “Glad to hear it because I’m fucking addicted to you.”

His lips press on mine, and I’m immediately lost in his kiss. The stubble on his face scratches my fingertips as I trace his jawline.

“I need you.”

A wicked gleam is in his eyes. “Is that so?”

Xavier bends down and nips my lower lip. “You don’t know how much it turns me on when you ask for it. It takes every ounce of willpower in my body to stop myself from throwing you down on that bed and ravaging every inch of your body for my pleasure.”

At the very thought of what that would be like, my pulse races under my skin. “What’s stopping you?”

“You’re too sweet for that.” He leans in and runs his nose along my cheek, causing my entire body to quiver with anticipation. “And because you’re not ready to go there— to allow me to have full control— yet.”

“How do you know?”

Tracey’s Review

“What are you doing to me, beautiful? You’re changing me in ways I never thought possible.”

Author Michelle Valentine left readers with one whopper of a cliffhanger in PHENOMENAL X, the kind that has you staring at the page thinking ‘What the HECK just happened? Are you kidding me? I have to wait HOW long to find out what’s next?!’ Yeah, that kind of a cliffhanger. Suffice to say that XAVIER COLD, the second book in Michelle’s Hard Knocks series, was heavily anticipated by fans of the first book, and well worth the wait.

The rivalry between Xavier Cold and Rex ‘The Assassin’ Risen, wrestlers for the Tension group, has reached an all-time high. Having lost control in the ring, Xavier finds himself banned from all things Tension for three months. Determined to keep his suspension from destroying their relationship, Xavier and Anna return to Detroit, X’s childhood home, and the dwelling place of all of his personal demons. But the road to happily ever after is not an easy one, and these two have their work cut out for them.

Where PHENOMENAL X is the story of the beginning of Anna’s and Xavier’s relationship, this book is about overcoming the things that keep us from being the best version of ourselves, and creating our own reality. It’s about their love for each other, and the freedom that this kind of love offers. And, finally, it’s about the redemption that comes through such unconditional love.

I could not read this book quickly enough. It’s full of grittiness and intrigue, secrets that are jaw-dropping, and the kind of love that completely changes the landscape of lives. 5 phenomenal stars for XAVIER COLD, and kudos to Michelle Valentine for another awesome read.

Tracey’s Review

Leo Chapel’s life has gotten very strange very quickly. Odd visions, ending up in times and places that seem impossible, and some very scary and very sexy creatures have him wondering if he’s losing it. When truth becomes stranger than fiction, Leo will have to think on his feet if he wants to stay among the living.

When I heard that Ella Frank was writing a book about a hot vampire, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I mean, given her uber-steamy and very romantic Temptation series, and her way with words, it was a given that ALASDAIR would be sexy and action-packed, and unlike anything else she’d written. Well, this book is everything that I could have anticipated and more.

In ALASDAIR, Ella has nailed the mystery and sensuality so necessary to make a paranormal read a success. The characters are dark, equal parts cruelty and attraction, the epitome of the predator that we just can turn away from. When Alasdair makes Leo a part of his world, everyone involved is in for a surprise, because Leo is not your typical human. Endowed with abilities that tie him to Alasdair and the rest of the vampire family, Leo is as much a puzzle to them as they are a mystery to him.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a fresh take on the vampire mythology, revolving, as it does, around the attraction between Leo and Alasdair. And, Ella has left us with lots of unanswered questions as this story ends, so I am already impatiently awaiting the next book in the Masters Among Monsters series. 4.5 creepy, sexy, hot-as-heck stars for ALASDAIR. Keep these books coming, Ella; you’ve got a winner here.

With no more than a flash of thought, he was inside the man’s room and standing at the foot of a large bed.

Locks. Such a useless human defense.

He cocked his head to the side and examined the book splayed open on the man’s naked chest. It looked as though it had fallen there when he’d drifted off to sleep, his fingers still resting against the glossy cover.

Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths.

Now that is an unlikely coincidence.

A sinister smile morphed Alasdair’s lips, and he touched the tip of his tongue to the fangs elongating from his upper gums. The familiar surge of adrenaline caused his skin to come alive with awareness as his body prepared itself to do what it had been created for.

Raising his hand, he flicked his wrist and the covers whisked back. The man beneath was no more aware of the action than a slight shift in the air as a low sigh escaped him and he stretched his body, turning his head on the pillow.

The sight that greeted Alasdair made the hours he’d spent tracking well worth the time. When the human took a breath, the knotted drawstring tie of his linen lounge pants caught his attention. Fuck, that made him want to indulge his carnal side first.

Maybe this was the root of his current obsession. In fact, that thought was followed by one truer to his perverse nature. How long would it take to have him clutching those covers from lust if I wanted it? And as Alasdair continued to observe the human, he realized just how much he wanted it.

The chest where the book was lying was covered in a light dusting of blond hair. It trailed a path along the center of the man’s sternum to his stomach, which looked as hard as his own. However, unlike his own abdomen, this man’s skin would be warm to the touch.

Perhaps he could take a moment or two and… No, he didn’t have the time, and that really was a shame. A meeting had been called this evening, and he was due at the Assembly Hall soon. The last thing he wanted to do was piss off the Ancients by being late.

So, with the speed and the stealth only his kind possessed, he was on the bed and stretched out above the man, and his mouth hovered over the ear closest to him.

He threw the book, which landed with a loud thump on the floor, and couldn’t stop himself from slipping one of his hands beneath those thin pants to curl his fingers around the flaccid cock he found inside. When a soft groan left the human, Alasdair used his other hand to capture his captive’s wrists like iron shackles and pin them above his head. Before the man had a chance to wake, he delved inside his head and projected an image of where this hunt would finally end.

Melissa

I’m trapped beneath him, tears filling my eyes, uncertain what all of this means or what happens now. He saw what I am, but he didn’t pull away. He held me down, watching me writhe in agony and desire, as if he knew what was coming.

Oh, god. A wave of dread tightens my stomach at the thought. He knew what was coming. He knows what I am.

His head is down on his forearm, but he’s still inside me. I wait until he finally lifts it, again looking straight into my eyes. He’s so beautifully mouth-watering. Sweat mingles with the rain on his cheek, and a little drop runs down into his beard.

Without having to see, I know my eyes darken. A whimper escapes my chest as the irresistible hunger burns in my throat.

His brow lowers. “You want to drink me?”

My eyes squeeze closed as a flood of fresh tears fills them, spilling out of the corners and down my cheeks. I take a shuddering breath, unable to deny the truth.

“Can you control it?” His voice has changed. The anger is replaced by curiosity.

Opening my eyes slowly, I study his expression, still stern, trying to understand. I don’t answer. I only watch him, my hunger aching in my gums.

His steel eyes hold mine with such determination. “Do what you have to do, but only for a moment.”

I’m confused by his permission, but I’m too weak to resist him. His grip on my wrists relaxes, and I slowly lift my hands to his broad, muscled shoulders, holding his eyes with mine as I carefully rise to lick the little bead of sweat off his cheek.

A noise rumbles in his throat, and inside me his erection returns. My breath picks up as the flavor of him spreads through my mouth. Rising higher, I press my nose against his heated skin, inhaling fresh rainwater mixed with his delicious woodsy man-scent.

I’m on fire. My moan is matched by his low growl as I trace my tongue along the line of his jaw to the ridge of muscle in his neck. I’m acting by instinct, grazing my razor-sharp teeth lightly across his skin, touching him gently with my tongue. His hips begin to move, thrusting again, and I feel the muscles in his shoulders tightening as his orgasm builds.

At last I’ve found it—the place from before, the little pin pricks. Like before, it’s so easy, a knife in warm butter. I penetrate him, and the hot, thick warmth of his life spills into my mouth.

Instantly, we’re plunged into that orgasmic plane, tumbling down the rabbit hole, lost in a whirlpool of giving and taking inexorable ecstasy.

“Fuck!” He groans as he comes inside me, pulsing long and hard, over and over.

My eyes are closed, my mouth attached firmly to his skin as I drown in the tsunami of pleasure, life flowing into me from all sides.

It’s harder to stop this time. I want more of him, more and more of this. He seems unable to pull away as well. He’s still in me, throbbing and gripping my hips so hard, I think they’ll break.

I might have kept going. I might have… but a beacon of light cuts through the quick thud of his heart beating strong in his chest.

STOP! The voice I recognize as mine echoes through my transformed state. It reminds me what I want. I want this man to live. I don’t want to drain his life and doom myself to living alone as a monster. I want to live with him in the light.

It takes all the strength I possess to pull out. I break my seal with a moan of regret, licking my lips to be sure none of him is wasted.

Dropping my head back onto the bed, I close my eyes to savor the sensation of him swirling inside me. Derek… so strong… my fighter… my hunter…

Only like before, the strange, foreign element is back. It burns longer this time before ultimately disappearing into my bloodstream.

It’s not him. It’s something else. What have you done, my hunter?

Tracey’s Review

A vampire hunter on a mission, two hot shifters, and a woman caught between the worlds of day and night. Worlds collide, passions ignite, and lives are changed forever.

Leave it to Tia Louise to re-imagine her awesome book ONE TO HOLD as a paranormal read. Genius, I tell you. Her alpha men make the transition to their ONE IMMORTAL alter egos seamlessly, and the ladies rock it. This telling of Derek and Melissa’s story is captivating in a whole new way, full of all the passion and intrigue of the original, with the twist of otherworldliness to make a fresh new experience, and I absolutely devoured it.

I’m a huge fan of paranormal romance, so I was super-excited to get my hands on this book. Tia very successfully intertwined the world of legend and reality that had me from the first few lines. Every single character was written so creatively, and I couldn’t wait to see where the story was going. ONE IMMORTAL is a solid 4.5-star read for me, and I highly recommend it as a must-read for fans of this series.

All I Want

Chapter 1

Zoe Stone had tried on everything in her closet and not only did her room now look like an explosion in a mattress factory, not one single item of clothing had worked for her.
She was still standing there eyeing the carnage when her sister, Darcy, appeared in the doorway, arms loaded with clothing. “Got your 911 freak-out text. Here’s all the stuff I’ve ever borrowed from you.”

“You mean stolen?”

“Tomayto, tomahto.” Darcy dumped the entire pile of loot in the only space available—on top of the slightly tubby Bernese mountain dog snoring in the center of Zoe’s bed.

“The pretty little black dress of yours is in there,” Darcy said. “You should absolutely be wearing that for your date instead of the granny dress you’ve got on. Seriously, how old are you, eighty-five?”

She’d just had the first anniversary of turning thirty, thank you very much, but Zoe looked down at herself. Her floral print dress was soft and clingy, fell to just past her knees, and hid a multitude of sins—such as the fact that she’d been stress-eating her feels all week. “It’s not that bad.”

“Zoe, you could walk into any Denny’s before five o’clock and get a discount.”

“I like this dress,” Zoe said, “and so does Oreo.”

Oreo, the aforementioned Bernese mountain dog, cracked open an eye and looked up at Zoe with love and adoration. “See?” she said, ruffling the dog’s big head. “And not that I have time to change anyway, but I don’t see what’s wrong with this outfit.”

“Absolutely nothing,” Darcy said, “assuming that you don’t care if you ever get laid again. And for God’s sake, stop taking fashion advice from a dog who rolls in bear poo and thinks he smells good.”

Panting happily, Oreo smiled up at the both of them.

Through the open window came the sound of a vehicle pulling up. Darcy moved to the second-story window and peered out. “Looks like your blind date’s here. What’s his name again?”

“Newman Taylor.”

“Well, Newman’s in a black Jeep with the top off. Not his top, the Jeep’s top, but still very nice—Whoa.”

“What?”

Darcy’s nose was glued to the window now. “Holy crap on a stick—he’s hot for a guy named Newman. Way too hot for that dress you’re wearing. Quick,” she said, waving a hand at Zoe. “Exchange it for the LBD.”

“I’m fine in this,” Zoe said. Maybe because she couldn’t wear the LBD; she hadn’t shaved her thighs—her own little insurance policy against making any rash decisions tonight such as getting naked. No way would she be tempted knowing she had hairy thighs. “And get away from there and stop spying on him.” But then she moved to the window next to her sister and sucked in a breath because Darcy was right, Norman was hot. Dark hair, a little wavy, a lot wind tousled. Black shirt that fit him well enough to define broad shoulders. Dark jeans. An easy gait that said confident male.

Butterflies took flight low in her belly and she pressed a hand to it. “Oh boy.”

“And I bet he’s got a six-pack, too,” Darcy whispered. “Maybe even an eight-pack. I’m going to need you to remember every detail for me.”

For Darcy, abs were a requirement in a man.

But Zoe had learned a lot for a woman who’d just had her thirtieth birthday—again. She had a completely different list of requirements. Honesty and kindness. That was it. Easy to remember and simple. But she’d also learned that nothing about men was simple.

“I wonder what color his eyes are—” Darcy broke off as the guy stopped on the path to the house and unerringly looked up at the window where the two of them stood staring at him.

With a commingled squeak, they dropped to the floor.

Afraid he was missing some fun new game, Oreo barked happily and leapt off the bed and right on top of them.

“Oomph.” Darcy pulled the silly dog in for a hug. “You big lug. You need a diet.”

Zoe pushed Oreo’s tail out of her face. “Think he saw us?” she asked, panicked.

“Nah,” Darcy said.

Zoe let out a relieved breath. “Really?”

“No.” Darcy grinned and sat up. “He totally saw us.”

Oh for God’s sake. The guy’s a dentist, she reminded herself. By definition, that meant he most likely was a people person, right? Right, she decided. And him being a people person was a good thing since one of them needed to know what they were doing.

She and Darcy—and Oreo—crawled away from the window and stood.

“Feels a little like old times, doesn’t it?” Darcy asked, dusting herself off. “Remember when we sneaked out of the house to do that midnight full moon climb up White Eagle with the Connelly brothers? We climbed out the window and got caught by Grandpa and were grounded for the rest of the summer.”

“That was you and Wyatt,” Zoe said. Their brother had always been able to find trouble. “I never got grounded.”

“That’s right. Wyatt was way more fun than you.”

Zoe slipped into a pair of flats and Darcy rolled her eyes.

“What’s wrong with the flats?” Zoe asked. “You wear flats all the time.”

“Yes, because I have a spinal injury that makes me want to drop to the floor and curl up in a ball whenever I wear heels,” Darcy pointed out. “You don’t have such an excuse. Plus you have legs a mile long that look amazing in heels, which makes me hate you just a little bit.”

“Flats,” Zoe insisted.

“Fine. So what do we know about this guy?”

“He’s a dentist from Hennessey Flats,” Zoe said. “Karen set me up with him, he’s her neighbor.”

“The Karen who does your hair, the Karen who’s been married and divorced three times?” Darcy asked.

“Yeah, so?”

“Sooooooo,” Darcy said, “don’t you think if her neighbor was hot, she’d date him herself, if not make him husband number four?”

Well, crap. She hadn’t thought of that.

“Plus . . . a dentist?” Darcy asked doubtfully.

“What’s wrong with him being a dentist? At least he’s gainfully employed.”

“Nothing’s wrong with it at all,” Darcy said reasonably. “If you want to sleep with a guy whose hands have been inside other people’s mouths all day long. Do you know how many germs that is? A million. A million trillion.”

Zoe shuddered. “Great. Thanks for that. Don’t you have somewhere to be?”

“Yep,” Darcy said, but moved back to the window. “You got a reprieve; he stopped to take a call.”

Zoe grabbed her purse and turned to Oreo. “Hold down the fort for Mommy, okay?”

Darcy snorted. “If a bad guy showed up, he’d hide in your closet.”

This was probably true but the big, goofy dog was the only home security system she had right now. In the past few months both Wyatt and Darcy had moved out, Wyatt to live with his fiancée, Emily, and Darcy to live with her boyfriend, AJ.

Zoe had told herself she was good with that. Sure, she missed bossing them around as she’d been doing since the dawn of time because one, their foreign diplomat parents had never seemed to notice that they’d had children, and two, well, Zoe kind of just loved to boss people around. But she wasn’t going to complain. Not when she’d seen just about every corner of the world and knew exactly how good she really had it right here in Sunshine, Idaho, alone or not.

Besides, with her newfound freedom she had a lot planned for herself. She wanted to fix up the house, although she admittedly had very little talent in that area. She wanted to learn to bake, even though she had even less talent in that realm. She wanted to date—where she had absolutely zero talent.

It might seem silly, but to a woman who’d been uniquely unlucky in her love life, Zoe had never gotten the hang of dipping her toes into the wading pool, especially with the audience of her siblings.

But now, with the house empty, it seemed like a perfect time.

Hence blind date number one. And she was ready. She wanted this. She totally almost did.

“He’s off the phone,” Darcy reported, back at the window.

Oh God. “I changed my mind,” Zoe whispered.

Darcy turned to her. “No.”

“Yes!”

“Then why did you tell everyone to set you up with blind dates so that you could get laid?”

“I never said that! I really wish you’d stop saying it.”

“What?” Zoe asked. “That you want to get laid?”

Zoe shot Darcy a look that went completely ignored. “And that’s not why I wanted to go out, I just wanted . . .” She trailed off, because what she wanted was much more complicated than her short list of man requirements.

She had a job she loved: being both a pilot-for-hire and giving flying lessons out of the small regional Sunshine Airport. Sunshine was a sleepy ranching town at the base of the heart-stopping Bitterroot Mountains and didn’t see a lot of action, but she managed to keep busy enough to eek out a living.

She had Wyatt and Darcy, whom she loved fiercely even though on any given day she felt like strangling and/or smothering them, but she was working on that.

And then there was the ancient—and some might argue dilapidated—150-year-old Victorian house that her grandparents had left the three of them, which she loved with the same fierceness with which she loved her annoying siblings.

Not to mention Oreo, whom she’d rescued not all that long ago and who’d quickly become her favorite family member.

So yeah, her life was good and she was happy, blah blah blah.

But something had been missing for a while now.

Fun.

She’d never given that particular emotion much thought before. She’d always been too busy keeping things together. But now that she had an empty nest, so to speak, she’d decided she was due. Past due—

At the knock on the front door downstairs, she nearly leapt out of her skin.

Startled, Oreo gave a loud bark and farted at the same time, and then as he did every single time this happened, he whipped his big head around to stare at his own hind end in surprise.

Darcy grinned. “Killer protective instincts, this one.” She rumpled Oreo’s fur. “I’m going to sneak out the back door, okay?” At the door, she blew Zoe a quick kiss and then smacked her own forehead. “Oh, almost forgot! Wyatt told me to remind you that his friend Parker could be showing up any time over the next few days. And change your dress and shoes!”

“I’m not going to change!”

Darcy sighed the put-upon sigh of a sister who thought she knew everything. “Fine. But do me a favor?”

“Anything if you’ll leave.”

“For once,” Darcy said, “just once, act spontaneously, okay?”

“Spontaneously?”

“Yeah, like if when you open the door and he’s even hotter up close, step outside your comfort zone and kiss him. Right up front, you know? Set the mood.”

Zoe just stared at her. “Are you completely nuts?”

“Well, obviously,” Darcy said. “But what does that have to do with anything?” She laughed, but then her smile faded. “Listen, most people spend a first date filled with anxiety, obsessing over the good-night kiss. Will there be one, won’t there be one . . .”

“I don’t obsess,” Zoe said.

“Are you kidding? You’re the queen of obsessing. So just get it out of the way, okay? Act spontaneously. And then relax and go with the flow.”

“I always go with the flow,” Zoe said.

Darcy laughed. “You go with the flow never. Try it my way? Just this once? Trust me, if there are sparks, you’ll thank me.”

“And if there aren’t?” Zoe asked.

“Then you don’t need to worry that that dress makes you look like a grandma.”

And then the whirlwind that was Darcy was gone.

Zoe took one last look at herself in the mirror. Okay, so maybe the dress didn’t scream sex, but that was okay. She wanted a guy to want her for her, right?

Right.

The knock came again. Solid. Firm. And the butterflies in her belly once again took flight.

Oreo’s, too, given that he gave another ear-piercing bark and scrambled to hide under her bed. All he could fit under there was his big, fat head, which left the rest of him sticking out.
She thought about joining him, but she’d never been much for hiding her head under the bed. So she made her way down the creaky stairs, her dress catching on her legs. Dammit. Darcy was making her doubt the choice, but it was too late now. Still, if the dress wasn’t going to make a statement, then she’d have to make do with her personality.

No pressure or anything . . .

Oreo followed her, hiding behind her legs as she opened the front door and got her first look at her blind date and . . . stopped breathing.

Damn. He was even better looking up close. Tall, and that leanly muscled build of his spoke of a man who worked with his body, not a guy who sat on a stool with his hands inside his patients’ mouths all day. He had sharp, light green eyes that crinkled in the corners, like maybe he spent a lot of time in the sun or, better yet, smiled a lot. A scar bisected his left eyebrow, giving him a dark and mysterious air. His square jaw had a slight shadow of growth, shown off when his mouth curved at her scrutiny, and this time her heart kicked hard because he also had a killer smile.

“Hey,” he said in a deep, warm masculine voice.

“Hey,” she mirrored back as Darcy’s words flashed in her head. Act spontaneously. Step outside your comfort zone.

Kiss him.

Heart pounding, Zoe let out a breath and moved forward, having to go up on her tiptoes to brush her mouth across his.

His lips were warm, firm, and yet somehow giving at the same time. She could have easily lost herself in him, but sanity returned and stepped back.

His smile got a whole lot warmer, but he didn’t speak.

“Thought I’d get that out of the way,” she managed. “It’s nice to meet you. I’ve never met a dentist without having to be in a dentist’s chair.” Great, and now she was rambling. She bit her tongue to keep it from running off with the last of her good sense.

“Nice to meet you, too,” he said. “Who’s the dentist?”

Zoe’s smile congealed and her heart stopped, just completely stopped. “Uh . . . you,” she said, “You’re the dentist.”

Still smiling, he shook his head. “Not me.”

Oh God. “You’re not Newman Tyler,” she whispered in horror.

“No,” he said. “But if your next guess is Parker James, you’d be right.”

Oh God. Wyatt’s friend, to whom she’d agreed to rent a room for the few weeks he was in town. She’d had mixed feelings about it, but Wyatt had vouched for the guy, and Zoe could really use the money for some desperately needed renovations. “You’re my brother’s old friend.”

“Not all that old, really,” he said, and looked at her mouth.

The mouth she’d kissed him with. Good God, I kissed him.

He grinned.

And . . . she’d said that out loud. Perfect. She covered her face. “I’m sorry, I—”

“Don’t be sorry,” he said. “That kiss was the best thing to happen to me all week.”

Behind her fingers she moaned a little, and he laughed at her. “Wyatt didn’t mention the welcoming committee,” he said. “He did say you might be grumpy. I like this better.”

She was going to have to kill her brother, but since he was out of town for the weekend at a vet conference, that pleasure would have to wait.

Maybe she could just move to Iceland. Iceland might be far enough to escape the humiliation, but probably not. Dammit. She’d kissed a perfect stranger, just accosted him on her doorstep. And . . . now her chest hurt. Maybe an impending heart attack would explain her behavior. Still holding her chest, she used her other hand to point at him to stay. “I just need a minute,” she said.

And then slammed the door in his face.

Behind her, in the living room, a brick fell from the ancient old fireplace. It did that every time she slammed the door. She’d tried to get someone out here to fix it but the contractor had wanted her to promise her firstborn, so she’d just decided not to slam the door anymore.

But she kept forgetting. Note to self: Stop kissing strangers, and stop slamming the door. She ran to the kitchen, where she’d left her cell phone, and pounded out her brother’s number.

“Yo,” Wyatt said in greeting. “Hear you’re going out with some dentist guy tonight. Watch where he puts his hands. You don’t know where they’ve been.”

Oh, for God’s sake. Her siblings gossiped like a pair of old ladies. “You’re a veterinarian,” she pointed out. “God knows how many worse places your hands are all day long. Maybe I should tell

Emily to watch where you put your hands.”

Wyatt just laughed. Since Emily—the love of his life—was also a vet, it had been an idle threat and they both knew it.

Zoe sucked in a deep breath. “Listen, about your friend, the one who’s coming to stay—”

“Yeah, Darcy told you he’s coming early?”

“Uh-huh,” she said with what she thought was a perfectly even voice.

But Wyatt had been seeing right through her for years. He was the only one who could. “Zoe,” he said in his most annoying brother voice. “You’re going to be nice. You promised. At least until I get back to Sunshine.”

“Yeah,” she said, and grimaced. “About that . . .” She closed her eyes. “I might be a little short on nice as it turns out.” Try hoochie-mama on for size . . .

“Shit, Zoe. He’s there already? What did you do?”

“Hey, I didn’t do anything.” Well, except kiss him.

And then slam the door on his nose . . .

Crap. “So . . . just how good a friend is this guy again?”

“Very,” Wyatt said. “We met in college when we were bartenders at the same place. On my first night, we got jumped at closing by five drunk assholes. Parker saved my ass. Haven’t gotten to see him in years, though, so don’t chase him away before I get home.”

She grimaced again. “Gotta go.”

“Zoe—”

She disconnected. “Ooops,” she said. “My bad.” She glanced at herself in the microwave glass door. “Go make nice,” she told her reflection. She turned to do just that, stopping to grab one of the cooling chocolate chip cookies she’d baked earlier. She was a great cook but she’d never been much of a baker. Determined to change that, she’d used one of her grandma’s recipes—Zoe’s first-ever batch that wasn’t from the grocery store’s frozen aisle. She took a bite . . . and nearly gagged. They tasted like baking soda.

She spit the disgusting thing out in the sink and rinsed it down. Okay, so her baking needed a lot more work.

And maybe your attitude.

Brushing the crumbs from her hands, she went back to the living room. She let out a heavy breath and once again opened the front door.

Parker was crouched low, chuckling over Oreo, who’d stayed outside with her new roommate and was sniffing at the guy’s proffered hand.

“He’s not much for new people,” Zoe warned. “And especially not much for men. He’s a rescue and—”

And nothing because Oreo jumped up onto his two hind legs and licked Parker’s chin.

Traitor.

Parker winced, but the pained expression vanished so fast Zoe wasn’t sure if she’d imagined it. “Are you hurt?”

“Cracked a few ribs a couple of weeks ago,” he said lightly. “Still a little sore, that’s all.”

“How did you do that?”

“Wrangling some big-game poachers.”

She stared at him. “Is that code for none of your business?”

“I don’t talk in code.” Mr. Mysterious rose to his feet, Oreo in his arms like he weighed nothing instead of one hundred pounds of tubby Bernese mountain dog.

“Careful,” she said. “You’ll hurt those ribs.”

“I’m fine.”

The statement was so alpha male to the core that she laughed. “Of course, you’re fine. You’re a man. Good to know you’re all equally pigheaded.”

Not insulted in the least, he grinned. “You have us all figured out, then?”

“Not that much to figure out,” she said.

Those sharp green eyes held hers. “Maybe I’ll surprise you.”

The words brought a quiver to her long-neglected lady parts, but she was pretty confident he couldn’t surprise her. But then he let Oreo lick his face again.

“A real watchdog you’ve got here,” he said fondly, and set Oreo down with one last body rub.

Well, damn, she thought reluctantly. She had to give him at least a few brownie points for loving up on her big old silly dog. “Yeah,” she said. “He’s a real killer.” She slid the killer a long look.

Oreo pretended not to see it, which only served to prove her point about men. . . .

“So,” Parker said straightening. “Can I come in yet or do you want to slam the door on my nose again?”

She felt her cheeks flush but met his gaze.

He held it prisoner with his warm, patient one and waited her out.

Great, he was also a man who knew the value of silence. She’d never met anyone like him, that was for sure. “Okay,” she said, deciding to pretend that the past few moments had never happened, hoping that he’d already forgotten it.

Denial wasn’t just a river in Egypt. . . .

Tracey’s Review

Zoe Stone has always been the one to keep things running smoothly. A lifetime of her parents being off doing their thing has made her the solid one, the one that made sure that her younger siblings had what they needed, that life looked somewhat normal. But now that her brother and sister are out on their own, Zoe’s ready for a life reboot. Parker James has always wanted to be the opposite of his parents, to live a life different from the one mapped out for him. An agent for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, he’s happy to go wherever the job takes him. There’s no room in his life for settling down…

Any time that Jill Shalvis releases something new, it’s an automatic top of the TBR for me. I will shuffle things around just so that I can read her books, because I love them so much. Having met and loved Zoe in previous books in Jill’s Animal Magnetism series, I was excited to see what was in store for her. As the eldest of three kids that have spent their lives in far-flung corners of the world due to their foreign service parents, Zoe has found that she loves being back home in Sunshine, Idaho. She’s finally found a rhythm to her life, a steadiness that makes her happy. When Parker shows up, that equilibrium is more than upset, and it isn’t long before her life is turned upside down.

Oh God. “You’re not Newman Taylor,” she whispered in horror.
“No,” he said. “But if your next guess is Parker James, you’d be right.”
Oh God. Wyatt’s friend, to whom she’d agreed to rent a room for the few weeks he was in town…
“You’re my brother’s old friend.”
“Not all that old, really,” he said, and looked at her mouth.
The mouth she’d kissed him with. Good God, I kissed him.
He grinned.
And…she’d said that out loud. Perfect. She covered her face. “I’m sorry, I-”
“Don’t be sorry,” he said. “That kiss was the best thing to happen to me all week.”

I love these two. Determined not to get involved, it isn’t long, of course, before good intentions are rethought, and all kinds of sizzle ensues. And, when I say sizzle, I mean hot as all heck. The chemistry between Zoe and Parker is the swoon-inducing, fan yourself type, and there is plenty of it.

One of my favorite things about reading one of Jill’s books is the sense of community, the family ties, the knowledge that the places she writes about are home, in the realest sense of the word. ALL I WANT has all of this, along with the suspense of the back story surrounding Parker and the requisite wonderful cast of supporting characters, making for an absorbing, can’t put it down read. 5+ stars, and a recommendation to grab this one, settle in, and enjoy.

Tracey’s Review

Now that Ashleigh and Luke’s relationship has taken a very different direction, things are starting to change. While Luke couldn’t be more thrilled and sure that everything is just as it should be, Ash is in retreat and reconsider mode.

Let me be clear about this: I am in love with this series. I fall a little bit harder for Louise Bay’s writing with each book of hers that I read. Luke has won my heart, and Ash, although she’s making me crazy, makes me want to grab her and hug her and reassure her that everything will work out. If CALLING ME BACK was the build-up of the evolution of the relationship between Luke and Ash, CALLING ME AWAY is the dip, the sort of ‘oh, my goodness, NOW what do we do?!’ part of the story. It’s that part that makes me, as a reader, feel all angsty and unsure, just wishing that these two could get back on the same page and get together already. With all of that said, though, this story just makes the anticipation of CALLING ME HOME, the third and final book in this series, that much sweeter. Getting to see more of Haven, Jake (who I am loving even more the more that I see of him), and Beth is an added bonus. 5 angsty, nail-biting, impatient yet hopeful stars for CALLING ME AWAY. Book 3 can’t come soon enough!

Tracey’s Review

Absence doesn’t always make the heart grow fonder. When you’ve made someone’s life a living hell, they’re usually not happy when you turn up again…

Once an angry kid bent on making everyone else as unhappy as he was, Simon is now a professional footballer (rugby player). Embarrassed by his treatment of his step-sister, and more than a little enamored of her, he’s returned home to make amends. But when Emilia learns who the benefactor of the community youth center is, she wants no part of him. It’s taken years for Emilia to put aside Simon’s callous treatment of her, and only now is she secure in who she is and what she’s doing with her life. She’s not about to forgive and forget so that Simon can feel better about himself. But this is not the Simon that she remembers and dislikes. Determined to change her mind, he is set on making her see that he’s changed, and sparks are soon flying between them.

I enjoy reads about forbidden or secret relationships, so HOOKED worked for me. I actually liked Simon, and could appreciate how important it was to show Emilia how much he had grown and how much he cared for her. Not only was he super-hot and a genuinely nice guy now, he was pretty darned philanthropic. Once her initial lingering dislike was dealt with, Emilia was able to see Simon for how he was now, and to form a new relationship with him.

This was a steady read, with plenty of heat and heart. It’s an easy 3.5 stars for me, and I would recommend it for fans of sports and/or ‘secret love’ books. I look forward to reading more by Iris Parker in the future.

Synopsis

From the New York Times bestselling author of Stepbrother Dearest, comes a new forbidden STANDALONE romance.

What happens when the one you want is the only one you can’t have?

My name is Sevin.

Homeschooled and sheltered by my ultra-religious family, I was always taught that lust was a sin.

Elle was the girl who’d been carefully chosen for me.

After a long-distance courtship, I’d be moving into her family’s guesthouse so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding.

Boundaries were set: no inappropriate touching, no kissing, no sex before marriage.

I’d accepted those rules and my fate.

Until I met the one I wanted to sin with.

That was when restraint became a problem…especially since the one wasn’t Elle.

It was her sister, Evangeline.

You know what they say about best laid plans.

My name is Sevin, and I have sinned.

Told in alternating points of view, Sins of Sevin is a full-length standalone novel. Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. Only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.

Excerpt

As he gulped down the water, I watched his Adam’s apple moving up and down. I used the opportunity to glance over his sweaty body up close. The top of his underwear was sticking out of his jeans. The smell of him was intoxicating, a mix of cut wood, sweat and cologne. I thought about our talk the other night, how he’d confessed his sexual history. As much as it disturbed me, knowing he’d used that body to give a woman pleasure made me weak with desire. I could only imagine what that would feel like with him.

Elle would find out.

I was still looking down at his abs when he said, “Thank you.” My eyes immediately shot up to meet his incendiary stare.

He’d caught me checking him out.

“You’re welcome.”

His mouth curved into a smile as he handed me back the glass. “How have you been? I haven’t seen you much this week.”

“Yeah. I’ve been busy.”

“I have something for you,” he blurted out in a way that indicated he was anxiously waiting to say it.

“For me?”

“Yeah. Wait here, okay?”

Sevin ran over to where his truck was parked and grabbed something out of the open window.

He returned to where I was standing and handed me a CD.

“What is it?”

“If you like the Smiths, you’ll like some of the songs on here. I included a few Smiths songs—the ones from your favorite album, but there’s also The Lemonheads, The Pixies…and Pulp.”

“You made this?”

“Yeah. I made it for myself and burned you a copy.”

“Thanks.”

He looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Number ten is my favorite.” Then, he walked away.

I immediately took it back to my room and dusted off my old portable CD player.

Lying down on my bed with the sun streaming in, I drowned out the world and listened to every song. When it got to number ten, I paid special attention, knowing he’d specifically called that one out.

The name of the song was Like a Friend. I later found out it was by Pulp. With each lyric, my eyes became heavier until they welled up in tears. The words described to a tee exactly how I’d been feeling about him. The singer was shouting out all his feelings about his friend, that she was everything he shouldn’t want, everything that was bad for him, but yet he couldn’t stop wanting her. He’d take what he could get even if that just meant being friends. Every single line spoke to me. It was the first time I realized that maybe I wasn’t alone in my torment. This situation—whatever was happening between us—was taking a toll on him, too.

I must have listened to the song five times before I went over to the window and looked down at him. At one point, he finally looked up and noticed me. He squinted his eyes to see me through the glare of the sun. I still had my headphones on. He knew I had heard number ten. The look on his face when our eyes locked only confirmed that number ten wasn’t just a song. It was his way of speaking to me.

Tracey’s Review

When Sevin Montgomery is offered the chance to trade in his less-than-perfect life for a new beginning in Dodge City, KS, there’s not much to think about. The only condition? He’ll have to marry the daughter of the man making the offer. Desperate for change, an agreement is struck, and Sevin prepares for his new role: husband. Too bad his bride-to-be is the wrong daughter.

When I start a book by Penelope Ward, it’s always with the understanding that I will not be stopping until I have finished every single page, and SINS OF SEVIN was no different. I love a forbidden romance, and this book has it in spades. Sevin has not lived a saintly life. Rebelling against the strict moral code imposed by his stepmother, he has done things that he isn’t very proud of. When he’s offered the chance to move to Kansas and court Elle, he knows that he’ll have to toe the line in order to respect the rules of her family. And he’s ready to do that, until, that is, he meets Evangeline. From the moment that these two lay eyes on each other, there is a connection that nothing, not his engagement, not the social mores of her family, not time and distance, can break.

Penelope has done her usual job of creating a story and characters that grab your heart and don’t let go. I was invested in Sevin, Evangeline, and the rest of the gang from page 1. Addie, Luke, Rose, and all the other members of Sevin’s and Evie’s ‘family’ are wonderful foils that round things out. There is joy, angst, bite-your-fingernails tension, and, ultimately, happiness here, and I could not recommend this book more. No surprise that this is a 5-star read, and one of my favorites this year. Add this one to your TBR; you will not be able to put it down.

Excerpt

“SO LET ME get this straight.” Dr. Glover lifted the end of his pen to his lips as his eyes narrowed on Evan over the top of his glasses. “The woman we’ve been discussing over the past few weeks finally shows you that she wants more, and you left her in an emotional heap in her office. Did I get that right?”

Evan stretched his long legs out in front of him. She thinks I fucked a prostitute the day after I left her apartment, so, yeah, that’s about right. Sighing, he leaned back into the worn leather couch. “You left out the part about her being a liar. And not someone I met in the last few weeks. She had an agenda.”

“So did you.”

“And what the hell was that?”

“You wanted to fuck her.”

“Jesus, you get right to the point, don’t you?”

“Well, that’s what you do. Isn’t it?”

I thought it was until I became obsessed with a leggy fucking blonde. Evan glared at the man whose eyes he swore fucking twinkled. “Even if it is, what therapist talks like you do? I’m positive they don’t teach you that in Patient-Client Relations 101.”

“I’ve always been a firm believer in no bullshit. I told you that the day you walked in and tried to lie to me. We aren’t going to make any progress if you don’t trust me and I don’t trust you.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re just—”

“Yes, Evan?”

Evan waved him off. “Nothing. I guess I’m still trying to process the fact that Reagan is that little girl from so long ago. A whole fucking life ago. It’s… I don’t know,” he said, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. “It’s disconcerting. She knew me before.”

“And that bothers you.”

“Fuck yes, it bothers me. I was ten years old the last time I saw her. Innocent. And now I’m…this.”

“You’re awfully hard on yourself. I wonder if you’re upset over what you’re saying or over Reagan thinking bad of you.”

And there it was. The truth he didn’t want to admit. Reagan accusing him of being with anyone hours after he’d been with her had infuriated him. Which was ridiculous, because he knew what he was. The demons he’d been trying to fight. Why would she assume anything but the worst? But with that anger came embarrassment and shame. He hated that she’d seen him on that corner. Hated that she’d seen him with Layla. But how the fuck could he ever convince her otherwise? And why would he even want to?

“She’s a liar,” he said.

“And you’re a sex addict. Fantastic pairing.”

Tracey’s Review

Feeling betrayed after learning the truth about who Reagan really is, Evan is angry. And, while appearances can be deceiving, actions speak louder than words, and Reagan just knows that she can’t trust Evan at all. The more things change, the more they don’t…

Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine have made me love Evan and Reagan and their story more with each installment of this series. Both Evan and Reagan are intent on protecting themselves and holding onto their anger, but these two couldn’t stay away from each other if their lives depended on it. All of the heat that was present from their very first meeting, coupled with the bond that they’d begun to form just will not go away, and nothing is going to change that.

I really enjoyed this entire book, but seeing their relationship beyond the physical made it that much more special for me. The lengths that both Evan and Reagan were willing to go to to show their support for each other made me smile again and again, and the awesome epilogue was just the wrap-up I needed to continue the 5-star love for this story. I highly recommend A Desperate Man (all three volumes!), and look forward to reading more from both Ella and Brooke.

About the Authors

Brooke Blaine

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

Her first solo novel, a romantic comedy, is due out in early 2015, but first, she thought she’d write a raunchy story with her best friend that would scar her conservative southern family for life.

If you’d like to get in touch with her, she’s easy to find – just keep an ear out for the Rick Astley ringtone that’s dominated her cell phone for ten years.
