Author Kristen Proby has a whole new world for us, and I couldn’t be happier. LIGHTHOUSE WAY, the first book in Kristen’s new Huckleberry Bay series, is just what I would expect from Kristen, and absolutely what I wanted. Friends to lovers, small town, a touch of the paranormal, LIGHTHOUSE WAY is the first in a series of stories that show that you absolutely can go home again, and that it’s probably going to be even better the second time around.

That Luna is a strong woman all on her own., and that she is more than willing to let Wolfe know just what she needs, is wonderful. It’s refreshing to have characters that are just as capable solo as they are as a couple. Luna and Wolfe are friends that have lived fulfilling lives separately, and are able to come together now, knowing what they they want. It will be wonderful seeing them in upcoming stories, as their lives continue to evolve.

I already love Luna and her girl gang, as well as Wolfe and the guys. Kristen’s ability to write friend groups that draw readers in and make them feel like they’re part of the fun is well-established, and she’s in her element here. The love and familiarity between Luna, June, and Sarah, along with new friends, are going to, I know, make for some fun times and great conversations as the series goes on.

Fans of Kristen’s books will fall immediately in love with this small town and the folks that live there. Put a visit to Huckleberry Bay on your to-do list. You’ll be happy that you did. ❤️

Never let it be said that Nana Malone cannot bring it. BROKEN BRIDGE, the final book in the Speak No Evil Trilogy, satisfied in every single way, and, dang it, left me wanting more, all at the same time.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, from Bridge and the Lords to Emma to Darcy to the mums, do their part to bring this story full circle, through all of the twists and turns, to an OMG conclusion. Questions are answered, hearts mended, and the whole gang does what they do best to put all of the pieces together and get the bad guys.

There is still, of course, all of the passion and secret society intrigue that makes this story unmistakably Nana’s, as well as visits from old friends that had me grinning. All in all, I can’t think of a better way to have ended this ride, other than to have it go on and on and on…you get what I’m saying. If you still haven’t met the London Lords and all of their cohort, stop messing around and read these books! You will love every page. ❤️

After reading and loving TATTERED STARS, I couldn’t wait to read FALLING EMBERS, the second book in the Tattered & Torn series by author Catherine Cowles. It’s often a difficult thing to follow up an absolutely fantastic book, but Catherine has done a good job of capturing the emotion and angst that were so present in the first book.

The events that make up the backstory for this whole series are nothing short of unimaginable, and it’s no wonder that every member of the Easton family is still dealing with the fallout years afterwards. When all that Calder has been through is added to the mix, that he and Hadley can push past everything and find their way back to each other is nothing short of fate.

Catherine weaves an engrossing story, full of action, suspense, and passion, and gave Hadley and Cruz the story that I was hoping for. I have to be honest and say that Sage and Birdie are the absolute stars of this book for me, and I hope that they’ll make many appearances in the books to come. I’m super-excited to see what Catherine has in store for us with the rest of the series, and can’t wait to get my hands on HIDDEN WATERS, because Beckett Easton has got me more than intrigued. These books are a definite ‘must read’ for lovers of family saga and suspense as only Catherine can write. Make sure that they’re on your TBR, and enjoy. ❤️

I’m that reader that loves the epilogues, the bonus scenes, the ‘6 months later’ add-ons. So it only stands to reason that when I heard that Kristen Proby was ready to start giving us books about the kids of her Seattle folks, I was over the moon. I mean, the beloved characters from a beloved series, and we get MORE?! Yes, please! THE SECRET is the first book in the Single in Seattle series, books that follow the kids of the Montgomery clan, one of my all-time faves, and I could not be happier.

It makes perfect sense that any daughter of Luke Williams and Natalie Conner Williams is going to be strong, confident, and a lovely person inside and out. Olivia is all of that and more, a success in her own right, refusing to ride the coattails of her famous dad.

Vaughn Barrymore is entertainment royalty, the heir apparent of a family famous for their position both in the movie business and in the news. All of these things also mean that he’s off limits for Olivia, but following that rule is harder than she ever expected.

THE SECRET is the perfect segue into this next chapter of Kristen’s Seattle universe, and I absolutely loved it. It’s been a minute since I’ve read a book by Shayla Black, but I jumped right in to WICKED AS SEDUCTION: TREES & LAILA PART 1 without realizing that theirs is a story that has been building as part of the backstory in prior books in the Wicked & Devoted series. Even so, I had no trouble reading this solely as the first part of their complicated, steamy, thrill-packed story, and can’t wait to see what’s next.

It was nice to see such a spitfire of a heroine in Laila, one that kept Trees on his toes and then some. I’m really hoping that Part Two of their story continues in the same vein, because it really did add something. I mean, it’s nice to have a (sometimes) gentle giant around to save the day, but where’s the fun if there’s no spark?

If romantic suspense with an, ahem, dominant side is your bag, this is definitely the book for you. I would suggest starting with the first books and working your way through, but, as said, if you just want Laila and Trees, this book can be read as a standalone, and as the first part of a two-book package. Shayla seals the deal with a cliffy that will definitely have you (and me!) coming back for more, and Part 2 can’t get here quickly enough. ❤️

4.5 “Love to Hate You” Stars

The entire relationship between Cal Stark and Nellie Rivera is one of push and pull. Enemies, sort of, from the time that they met, they’ve got the love/hate thing down. But if that were the end of the story, there would be no story, and Devney Perry, writing as Willa Nash, is never going to leave us hanging like that.

At first glance, Cal Stark, former football star and new resident of Calamity, Montana, is pretty much a jerk. Cocky, rude, conceited, Cal is the living epitome of everything that Nellie has come to expect from him. BUT…there’s something more, something about Cal, than appears to the world, and that’s the thing that keeps Nellie coming back for more.

Nellie has never forgotten the hell that Cal and others like him caused her. As the scholarship kid at an exclusive high school, she’d had to work harder, be better, and just blend in. And now that they’re all grown up, even with the success she’s gained, Nellie’s not over things. And the small town of Calamity is nowhere big enough for both her and Cal.

It’s no surprise that I really enjoyed THE BULLY, as Devney/Willa has not written a book that wasn’t a win for me. The sparks, the steam, the back and forth between Cal and Nellie, make for an engaging read and a welcome addition to the Calamity, Montana series. Being back in this small town, with characters that we’ve come to know and love, was a pleasure, and seeing Nellie and Cal be brought into the fold just makes a favorite series even better. I’d happily read new books about Calamity for as long as Devney is writing them, and look forward to Larke’s story in THE BRAWL. In the meantime, check out THE BULLY, and find out why Calamity, Montana, is one of my favorite places ever. ❤️
