Attractive couple is cooking on kitchen. Looking on each other and smiling.

High school parking lots are one of the most dangerous places on earth. I don’t have statistics to back that up…but I know it’s true.

I pull into the school parking lot Monday morning in my Dad’s giant, newly repaired mint-green Buick, with Back in Black by AC/DC blasting from the speakers. I feel tough, powerful—like I’m driving a tank.

I’m a badass teacher—I’ll run you down even if you’re a student—I’ve got twenty-nine more in class just like you.

The outfit helps too—leather boots, blue jeans, a starched white blouse and a black leather jacket. It’s my armor. The morning air is cool and crisp today, but I barely feel it. I’m locked and loaded and ready to roll.

As I march towards the main entrance, I spot Garrett and Dean and Alison Bellinger outside the doors. They pause when they see me, waiting.

“Damn,” Dean chuckles. “Callie’s got her shit-kickers on. Did you dig them out of a mosh pit from 1993?”

Garrett crosses his arms. “Somebody’s channeling Michelle Pfiefer in Dangerous Minds.”

He looks fantastic. His hair is tousled from the breeze and kisses his brow, and he’s wearing a dark blue sweater that’s snug around his biceps and soft, worn, light blue jeans. I remember his arms around me yesterday on my parent’s porch. The wonder and exhilaration of the moment.

Of him.

The intensity in his eyes, the desire and possessiveness in the grasp of his hands. The scorching feel of his mouth, his wet talented tongue that made my stomach swirl and my head spin.

So much for not complicating things.

But I’m not going to play head games with myself or Garrett—we’re too old for that shit.

I have feelings for him—I always have—our break-up had nothing to do with either of us not wanting each other desperately. But these aren’t just leftover echoes of a sweet, first love—this is something new. A throbbing, breathless attraction to the amazing man he’s become. I want to be near him. I want to know him, inside and out, all over again.

And he feels the same way. Garrett wants this version of me as much as he always did—maybe even more. I heard it in his whispered words and felt it in his kiss.

Although school is officially out summer, Emma Chase is holding classes and assigning homework her devoted readers will be excited to do. The first thing on the summer reading list is her new book Getting Schooled. Her latest book is guaranteed to earn an A+.

Getting Schooled immediately draws the reader into Garrett Riley’s world during his routine jog in his small town, Lakeside, New Jersey. The reader gets a colorful description of the town, a humorous introduction to the residents, and a heartwarming, comedic impression of it all through Garrett’s eyes. Every time I read an Emma Chase book it is a delightful experience from page one to the very end. Everything about those precious reading hours is joyful, thought provoking, and entertaining. Emma has a way of blending humor, romance, and life issues without losing balance. Her characters come to life and become very dear to the readers hearts. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Lakeside, New Jersey. There’s a certain math teacher that needs to learn some new equations.

Chapter One

Cross

“Where have you been in that thing?” Machlan shouts.

The roar of his muscle car’s engine winds down and he clicks the transmission into park. The purplish-black paint shines in the early afternoon sun.

Having just backed out of a parking spot onto Main Street, I check my rearview mirror. No one is coming. “Bluebird Hill,” I tell him. “After all that rain last night, I figured I’d test the new tires Walker put on my truck last week.”

“You’re a fuckin’ kid.” He laughs.

“Says the man driving that,” I tease, pointing at his ride.

“I’m not sure what your point is. This car is the baddest thing in town.” He punches the gas, the motor roaring like a banshee.

Glancing around at Doc Burns’ office with two cars in the parking lot and the Linton County History Museum across the street that only opens for the Water Festival once a year, I grin. “That’s not saying much.”

“Go to Hell.” His hand slips through his dark hair and over his chin. The amusement in his features evaporates as I watch … and cringe.

I know this look. I know all of his looks, actually, a by-product of being his best friend as long as I can remember. Many of them concern me and a lot of them worry me. But this one? It’s a flashing red sign with Vegas-inspired lights.

The thing is, I can’t just ignore it. When this look comes, so does the topic of my sister and, even though I love the both of them, I wouldn’t mind seeing them in a padded room until they fix whatever it is between them that is so broken.

With a sigh, I jam my truck into park too. “Yes,” I say, answering the question he’s yet to ask. “Hadley called and isn’t coming home this weekend. She said maybe next week.”

His jaw works back and forth as he stares down the street. “Why?”

That single word is spit with a lifetime of emotion. Machlan has loved my sister since the day she moved to Linton with our father and me when our mother died. She was fourteen and innocent and he was fifteen and infatuated. Through the years, they were off and on and together and not—at least officially. Everyone knew Machlan and Hadley were one and the same.

I’m not sure why she moved away from here. Being both her brother and hisbest friend precluded me from certain information, which is for the best. They both drive me nuts without having the details.

“Not sure,” I reply. “She left a voicemail last night saying she wouldn’t be home today. She didn’t pick up when I called her back.”

He flips his gaze to me. “You didn’t talk to her after that?”

“She’s a big girl, Mach,” I mock. “I’m sure she had shit to do.”

“Yeah.” His fingers regrip the steering wheel as his jaw goes back to work again.

“I’m gonna go wash this before I head back to the gym—”

“She’s all right, though. Right?” he interrupts. His face is stone-cold sober. “I mean …”

“She’s fine.”

He waits. Blinks. Re-grips the wheel again. “That’s it?”

Popping my truck into drive, I blow out a breath. “Yeah, that’s it. You want to know more? Call her. What a fucking amazing concept.”

“Yeah. I’ll get right on that,” he snips back.

“You should. Then you could quit this whole thing.”

“Got nothin’ to quit, man. Just being a decent guy.”

A decent guy. It’s my turn to turn my knuckles white on the steering wheel.

Machlan isn’t a decent guy. He’s a fucking great one … much better than the guy Hadley is seeing now. A guy I haven’t mentioned to Mach since I got home a couple of weeks ago from visiting her. I’m not mentioning him, either. I’ll save the boyfriend an ER bill and myself the bail money.

I can’t blame him. It has to be hard to see Hadley with another guy when, in Machlan’s mind, she’s his girl.

My stomach twists like it always does when my mind goes down this road. At least my girl didn’t bring other guys back with her. Hell, she didn’t even come back at all.

“Here comes Kip,” Machlan says, bringing me out of my reverie. Nodding toward the road in front of him, he laughs. “I’m not moving.”

I twist in my seat to see the sheriff coming toward us. He blares the siren twice as if to get us to move. We don’t.

Machlan pokes his head out of the window. “Need somethin’?” he shouts.

Laughing, I watch Kip’s car slide carefully between Machlan’s and the curb on the other side.

“You can’t park in the street!” Kip yells.

“What are ya gonna do about it?” I holler.

“Take ya both in.”

“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” Machlan asks. “Someone to protect and serve? Or service, if I know you?”

Kip shakes his head as Machlan flips him the bird. The sirens come on again before Kip hits the gas and speeds off down the street and vanishes over the hill.

When I look back at Machlan, his attention is on his phone.

“What?” I ask, curious about the smile on his face.

He looks at me and laughs. Sticking the phone in the cup holder, he shrugs. “Nothing. But can you do me a favor?”

“No.”

“I need help moving a couple of things at Crave. Come help me. Just for a few.”

“What’s in it for me?” I ask.

“A beer?”

Throwing the truck in neutral, I rev the engine. It barely sounds before his is screaming over top of mine and we jet off in opposite directions. I get to a stop sign at the end of the street and do a quick one-eighty to head to Crave.

Second-chance romance in the land of the Gibson Boys? Yes, please. CROSS takes place not long before CRANK, Addy’s most recent release, and the first in her Gibson Boys series. So, we get to see many of the characters that we already know and love, PLUS, one sexy boxer named Cross Jacobs.

Second-chance love stories are some of my favorite, and when it’s got characters that I know and love, and is written by an author that is one of of my go-tos, I know that I’m going to love what I’m reading. Addy has the ability to craft stories that always draw me in, and Kallie’s and Cross’s story is no exception. Having read CRANK, I was already completely invested in the folks on Linton, Illinois, and getting to go back for another visit was a treat. Kallie and Cross are two people that are just meant to be together, and, once they start to communicate and appreciate what they have in each other, there’s no keeping them apart.

CROSS is a n easy 4.5 star read for me, and I am happy to recommend it, and the reset of the books in Adriana’s Gibson Boys series as well.

“Hello?” Phoebe called out.
“In here!” a masculine voice said, sounding like it came from the far side of the house.
She followed the sound and noticed a man talking on the phone, his back to her. He was tall, well built, muscles defined, as she took him in from behind. And what a behind he had, a tight ass in his faded jeans.
She ogled the sight shamelessly, her gaze traveling up his lean waist and broad shoulders. His dark hair was short and the jet-black color she preferred on a man. He wore a light blue button-down, sleeves rolled up, revealing sexy forearms.

My heart rose higher in my throat with every pound on the wood. It was as if an accelerant had been poured directly into my blood.
It was close to two in the morning.
Someone showing up at this time of night—in the middle of a downpour, no less—should make me cautious.

I have become a huge fan of author Claudia Burgoa. She has a gift of creating an interesting and emotional story with very compelling characters. Her gift of tapping into the emotional reservoir makes her stories more personal for every reader. I was excited to review My One Regret.

The first chapter of the book completely captured my attention. I became engaged with Sadie’s predicament. My heart was breaking right along with her even though I didn’t know the back story or the emotional journey that led to that moment. I just knew she was beyond hurt, she was crushed. The one thing I also knew is that she was going to survive the heartbreak because she was a strong woman and her core values would be her strength.

The story begins with a heartbreak but evolves back to the beginning when their love was new and fresh. From the moment they met to the moment they parted both Sadie and Kade were deeply connected and committed to one another. They gave each other their hearts completely. Sometimes romantic love is not enough. As human beings we are not meant to love just one person. There are different kinds of love, different kinds of relationships, and different responsibilities that go along with each relationship. Kade already had a family. His children were his first priority. His professional lifestyle had almost destroyed his relationship with his daughters and contributed to the breakup of their family unit. He has worked hard to become a responsible and supportive parent. When he’s forced to choose between his daughters and the love of his life, he makes the impossible decision. Now he has to live with his choice.

When he gets the horrific phone call and has to face the possibility that he may lose Sadie forever he begins to re-evaluate his life. Kade is in for a real eye opener and may end up living with regrets.

Claudia Burgoa once again held me captive. I love her intuitive sense of what readers want in a love story. A love story is more than about romance, it’s about life and the people who surround us daily. It’s about give and take, sacrifice and acceptance, and most of surrendering our hearts to someone else regardless of the outcome. Claudia Burgoa truly understands love.

“Today meant nothing,” I say. “Our past is in the past.”

“Totally in the past. But when I’m working with you…”

I feel myself inch closer to him. “… what?”

“Sometimes I can’t tell where we leave off and our characters begin.” Is he sitting nearer than he was a few seconds ago?

“I know. I feel the same way,” I confess, and then I’m definitely moving closer to him. Definitely staring at his lips. We’re like two magnets. Simply telling them to stay apart never stops the pull.

“But that’s the job, right?” he says, and his eyes are on my mouth now.

I nod. “We have to put everything aside and just focus on the work.”

“Right. Yes. I can do that.” He’s so close we’re almost touching. Then he reaches his hand out and places it on my thigh. I feel a chill run up my body, and I close my eyes. The warm, heavy feeling of his hand is so familiar and so exciting at once. “Can you do that?”

The honest answer is that I don’t know. I open my eyes and find him staring at me. I get lost in his stare. For a moment, we hesitate.

Then the next thing I know, my lips are pressed against his and his tongue is finding its way inside my mouth. I don’t know who started it, but neither of us can deny this is what we both want in this moment. Have wanted since this afternoon. Maybe since we first saw each other outside craft services two weeks ago.

He cradles my face between his hands and shifts me closer, as though afraid I’ll break our connection.

But I’m not going anywhere. I want more. I swing my leg over to straddle him, so I can press my hips into his pelvis. I groan when I feel how hard he is, groan with the need that’s already built up unbearably between my thighs. I rock back and forth, desperate. Only a few scraps of cloth stand between us, but they’re enough to frustrate me.

He stands up, me still astride him, then he tosses me onto my back in front of him. He kneels on the ground, and I’m lying on the couch of my trailer looking up at the ceiling, and a part of me is wondering how the hell this happened again. But a much louder part of me doesn’t want it to end before we’re both naked and screaming out all our unresolved anger in orgasm.

Before I have time to register what’s happening, I feel Tanner’s fingers creep up my thighs and under my panties. He plays with me, teasing before he plunges two fingers inside my body.

I gasp in surprise and delight.

This. This is what I need.

I let my thighs fall farther apart, giving him all the access he wants. Tanner dances and swirls his fingers around, first deep inside me and then up to brush my clit. I grip the couch, nearly paralyzed in anticipation. My legs begin to shake, and I can’t remember my own name anymore. All I can think about is how incredible this feels, and how, improbably, he’s become even more talented at touching a woman over the years. Holy shit.

His free hand covers my mouth, but that doesn’t help. It isn’t until he stills that I quiet, although my hips are still rocking greedily, trying to get what I want from his fingers.

“Sshh,” he says, “Someone might still be around.”

“I don’t care,” I moan, and, in the moment, I swear I don’t. Let everyone hear how glorious this is. Tanner grins as he presses his fingers back inside me, bending them and twisting them, showing off more moves that get my body pulsing and my pussy soaking wet.

I’m going to come. I’m so close. “Fuck, Tanner, yes…”

“Yes,” he growls, and that’s all it takes to send me flying over the edge into ecstasy.

Jenna and Tanner were the couple back in the day. Heck, they even had the combo name to show for it. But youth, gossip, and the machinations of Hollywood sent them their separate ways, very publicly and very unhappily. Fast forward ten years, and they’re together again. And, action!

I adore author Laurelin Paige. Her books are sexy, smart, steamy, and romantic, and I can’t get enough of them. ONE MORE TIME is probably one of my favorite of hers to date, with its second-chance love, strong sassy heroine, and a leading man with a heart of gold. The chemistry between Jenna and Tanner still burns white-hot, and, in typical Laurelin fashion, these two are dynamite. I loved not only the steamy parts, but the banter, the humor, the genuine affection that couldn’t be denied.

While I don’t always love coming of age stories, ONE MORE TIME is an exception, and one that I happily recommend for fans of contemporary romance. 4.5 heartwarmingly sexy second-chance stars for this one. And, while you’re clicking, the audiobook of this story is fantastic, with top-notch performances that make the story even more enjoyable. Whether you’re reading or listening (or both!), don’t miss ONE MORE TIME.

The Reaper’s MC are back and riding strong. Joanna Wylde has just released the eighth story/ novella, Rome’s Chance, in the Reaper’s MC series.

Randi Whitaker is back in town for her high school reunion and to see her family. She knows things have been tough for her younger siblings and mother but didn’t realize just how bad they had gotten. She left town eight years ago because the wild fires forced her to evacuate and start life over in a new town. She wasn’t expecting to run into Rome McGuire, a guy she had only dated once before she was forced to  leave town. He was the one guy who inspired her to try the wild side of life on the back of his bike. Rome isn’t the kind of guy she needs in her life now. He’s a member of the Reaper’s MC. It doesn’t matter that he has a good job, owns his home, and has a stable life. She’s in town to help her family and that should be all that matters.

Rome is thrilled when he runs into Randi Whitaker. The sweet girl he remembers has grown into a beautiful woman. He is determined to get to know her once again. His life has changed and he’s ready to look for something more permanent. His brothers are all settling down, getting married, and starting families. He’s ready for the same thing and now that Randi is back in town, he’s taking his chance.

Meet Kristen:
