“It’s been telling me that you and I are becoming friends,” I say, but my tone isn’t entirely friendly.

Her lips curve up. “Is that so? We’re friends?”

“Feels that way.” But it actually feels like we’re in Tahiti again. And tonight is its own separate night, apart from time and space and reason.

“It does feel that way,” she agrees softly. “Do you think we found that alternate universe you mentioned?”

I inch closer. “I’d like to spend a night in that alternate universe.”

She licks her lips. “Everything’s different there.”

“Nothing’s off-limits there.”

“Maybe that’s where we are.” The words come out a little husky, a lot sexy, and I know what’s changing.

The reminder of who she is, how we’re connected, isn’t keeping me away.

The barrier isn’t strong enough tonight.

No matter how much we talk.

No matter how hard we try to be friends or colleagues or business partners.

The wall can’t hold.

The kind of chemistry we have doesn’t disappear with the snap of your fingers or the flip of a switch.

I set a hand on her leg, spreading my palm over the fabric covering her thigh. She trembles under my touch. “There’s something I’ve been wondering,” I say, my fingers playing with her dress.

I don’t take my eyes off her. Traveling along her body, I wrap my hand around her hip, tightening my grip. The feel of her is intoxicating.

I move my hand to her face, cupping her cheek, sliding my thumb over her lip. “I can’t stop wondering if you taste like champagne.”

Her eyes are etched with desire, blazing with heat. “Why don’t you find out?”

It’s in my head, and it’s all mine.

And, honestly, it’s probably connected straight to my libido, since that voice has the tendency to override everything else in moments like this.

Like, for instance, good judgment.

Like warnings from business partners too.

I dip my face to hers, savoring every sliver of a second. Her glossy pink lips part the slightest bit, an invitation.

I take my time, because I want to experience every moment of kissing her again. I dust my thumb over the corner of her lips and seal my mouth to hers, capturing her kiss.

Seven long years unfurl. The moment on the street the other week was a mere snapshot. A five-second trailer to tease the audience, to leave them wanting more. This is the opening credits. The start of the whole story, unfolding on screen.

Her lips part, welcoming me. Roping her arms around my neck, she brings herself closer as I sweep my lips over hers.

Tracey’s Review

Okay, so I loved Sons of Anarchy as much as the next gal, but I have to admit, I’m not much for the MC reads. Until now, that is. Because I just finished F-BOMB, the ninth book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series by author Lani Lynn Vale, and I am totally hooked.

Let me preface this by saying that I’m fairly certain that this series is not representative of the typical motorcycle club read. This book is quirky, funny, and with just enough suspense to keep things interesting. Yes, there is a club, but the Bear Bottom men, and the women that love them, are all about doing good, and about making their little piece of Texas safer, kinder, and gentler for the people that they help.

Harleigh’s and Slate’s story had me from the get-go, and totally invested until the last page. I just loved them both, and the interchanges between them were laugh-out-loud funny, and sometimes downright steamy, but these two characters clearly belong together.

It’s not often that I pick up a series part way through, because I am a fan of starting at the beginning and working forward, but Lani Lynn has such an avid following, and is so prolific, that I decided to take the plunge. I can absolutely say that I can’t wait to go back to the earlier books and get all caught up, because F-BOMB is just that enjoyable. 4 stars makes this one a definite thumbs-up for me, and me a happy member of the LLV club. Grab it for yourself and enjoy.

“Hello, Starla.”

“Well, shit.”

My eyes soak her in from head to toe. How did she get more beautiful than before? Her auburn hair is pulled up in a knot on top of her head, and she’s in a cropped T-shirt with a pair of skin-tight shorts.

“Wh-what are you doing here?”

“I was over at Wyatt’s house.” I point across the street. “And he said you were staying here.”

“So, is the tour over?” I ask.

“Yes, and I’m on vacation.” She frowns slightly, staring down at her water. “Forced vacation.”

“Why?”

She blinks up at me. “Because I was exhausted, and the doctor insisted.”

I narrow my eyes again, pissed that she worked herself into exhaustion. “Starla—”

“I’m fine,” she insists. “And I’m already feeling better. Also, I owe you an apology.”

That stops me short. “No, you don’t.”

“Oh, I do.” She takes another sip, then sets the bottle aside and leans on the island. I get a great view of her cleavage.

She’s too sexy for her own damn good.

“I’m sorry I didn’t reply to your messages, Levi.”

“Why didn’t you?”

She blows out a breath. “Because I was a little overwhelmed. The sex was—”

“Damn incredible.”

“Yeah. It was. Intense is also a good word for it, and I get the feeling that you’re an intense man.”

I nod once. “If I hurt you or scared you—”

“No, it’s not that at all,” she hurries to assure me. “I didn’t do anything that I didn’t want or enjoy. I’m sorry if I gave you that impression. I hadn’t been with a man in a long time, and we have some powerful chemistry.”

The Lying Hours by Sara Ney is another fantastic addition to her How To Date A Douchebag Series. This rom-com new adult series has become one of my favorites.

Unlike Sara’s Douchey heroes in the previous books of this series, her new hero, Abe Davis is not. He’s a good guy that would do anything for his friends and there lies the problem. He has been recruited by his best friend JB (the real douchebag) to find him a new girlfriend/ slash hookup after JB finds himself dumped by his last girlfriend. Abe has joined the school dating app trying to find JB the perfect girlfriend or at least one who likes sex and is not annoying. It’s his job to vet the women before JB dates them. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.
