Tina’s Review

Novella: about 100 pages. A RARE first-person (MALE) POV.
The cover is mildly misleading, allows you to believe this may be a MC book. Not really. He’s a gear head… owns THROTTLE (garage/shop) and builds, rebuilds, customizes, and fixes bikes. He’s got an “in” with the bikers, but it’s NOT a MC book. Synopsis: Again, a little misleading. You’d think his son is a young child as opposed to a college graduate.
Cynfor (Sin) was a little hellion growing up; always in trouble and pushing the limits. That is, until a newborn is dropped at his parents’ doorstep when he’s only 17 years old. From then, his son, Tyson, had been his sole focus. Now, as a 38-yr old single dad, he finds his son’s college graduate status delivers mixed emotions. He’s hot for the girl on Ty’s arm. Georgia lives a pretty solitary existence with no parents or siblings and only an elderly unwell foster mother. She works numerous jobs to make ends meet and wears baggy second-hand clothes that Sin manages to easily see past which is good because she’s seriously attracted to Sin, despite the fact that he’s Ty’s dad and 14 yrs her senior.
The characters were well created and enjoyable. Dialogue was good, interaction felt natural. The plot flowed well, but was not as full and dynamic as it could have been if it were a full novel length. There’s plenty of sex, mostly Neanderthal worthy. Ms. Lewis is rather descriptive and often remarks on the audible elements of the deed, other than that, it was not overly graphic nor clinical. There were a few issues that were resolved in very human fashion. The characters were allowed to make mistakes, learn from them, and try to earn a second chance. I had Tyson figured out almost immediately, but that did not – in any way – detract from the story. The conclusion was solid, with no cliffhangers. There’s just enough going on at the end of this story that if there were another novel(la) written to follow this one, I’d not be surprised.
Only one spelling error noted, but it was easily over-looked. Overall, it was an enjoyable, quick read.

Synopsis

Caden Carlisle is a world-renowned superstar with good looks, million dollar movie deals and women throwing themselves at him wherever he goes. He has it all… but wants nothing more than a normal life without the paparazzi and glitz.

Brooklyn Holloway is an up and coming starlet with a solid head on her shoulders and her eyes wide open. It’s all about art for her and she isn’t looking to star in blockbuster films. She’s perfectly happy keeping a low profile and doing indie projects with a message.

When fate throws the two of them together on set; both are unprepared for their undeniable connection. Cade is drawn to Brook’s down-to-earth wholesomeness and she can’t help the irresistible pull of his good looks, sense of humor and chivalrous ways… So, when he begins to think he’s in love with her, resisting is next to impossible, despite being committed to someone else.

Only when filming ends and the world’s fascination with celebrity invades their bubble, can they decide if the emotions they felt on set were scripted, or forever.

Excerpt

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from Cade.

I’d risen, and he was trying to rush through the crowd toward me, but was having a hard time making his way around all of the people.  Part of me was thankful for that. I felt trapped, like I’d die an absolute death if I didn’t make an immediate escape.

I needed to get out of there fast, or soon, I was going to be a sobbing mess.  I could feel the misery welling up and threatening to overflow.

I pushed my way through the crowd toward the other end of the bar, toward the entrance and away from Cade.

“Brook!” he called. “Brook, wait, please!”

I kept going, my eyes on Nathan a few yards in front of me.  My vision blurred with tears, but I stumbled through the crowd, pushing my way toward him.

“Brook!  Bloody hell!  Stop!”  Cade was beside me, and grabbed my arm.  “Stop…  Just wait a second, please.”  His voice lowered as he looked at the tears running down my face, his scent enveloped me.  Finally, I had the courage to meet his eyes but my face crumpled, and I cried hard.

“Cade, just please, let me go.  It’s obvious that coming here tonight was a big mistake.” My voice broke, and more tears slipped from my lashes.  I bowed my head when my shoulders began to shake. I couldn’t stop them from doing that, and it felt humiliating to be standing here, in the middle of a bar, in a place I’d never been, with a couple of hundred eyes boring into me… and worse, to witness what I’d just seen.

“Tell me why you’re here,” he commanded softly, his finger lifting my chin so I had to look him in the eyes.  He looked sad and anxious.  “When I saw you, I couldn’t believe my eyes.”  His eyes searched my face, trying to read my mind.  “I felt like the earth opened up to swallow me alive.”

I tried to speak, but nothing came out.  I opened my mouth, closed it, and then shook my head.  “It just… It doesn’t matter now.”  I tried again to pull my arm free.

“Goddamn it, Brooklyn! Tell me why you’re here!” he pleaded, and grabbed my other arm, which completely prevented me from looking away from his face.  We were both breathing hard; standing motionless; as if there was no one else in the room.

Finally, I looked away as I struggled for strength to control the tears in my voice.

Maybe if I tell him the truth, he’ll let me go.

I turned back to him. “I came here to tell you that what you saw in those photos wasn’t real, and that I was ending things with David.  That you are who I want to be with.”  I started to shake, my face crumpled.  Cade took me by the shoulders, and pulled me tightly to his chest.

“But from the looks of things, you’re doing just fine.  It didn’t take you long, did it?”  A small sob escaped, as I resumed in earnest.  “I thought I was going to surprise you for your birthday, but it looks like I’m the one getting the big surprise.”  I was angry and hurt; my heart shattered into a million shards that ripped through my flesh and left me bleeding.  I renewed my struggles to get free of him, but he was too strong.  He moved me away a little to look in my eyes, his brow low over his eyes and his mouth tense.

“Brook, what was I supposed to think?  You never said you were mine.  How was I to know?  Those pictures were like reliving the entire last year as I watched you with him when I wanted you for myself!”

“After the way it was between us… the way it felt!  You saw how my heart was breaking when you left.  After that, how could you doubt me?  You don’t trust me at all.”

Michel’s Review

Famous by Kahlen Aymes is an emotional and angsty beginning for the new series.

The book starts out on the set for the movie featuring the Remembrance Trilogy. Brooklyn Holloway is playing Julia and Caden Carlisle is playing Ryan. Both of the actors are caught up in the powerful love story of the characters they are portraying. They are also realizing that they have an undeniable attraction to one another off the set. They are drawn together in so many ways. But their realities keep them from coming together.

Brooklyn Holloway has a boyfriend. She is also very young. It is her first motion picture. Caden Carlisle is a seasoned actor, he is a superstar, and he is from England.

Not only does their vast differences play against their relationship, their geographical dwellings do too. Add in Hollywood politics, iron tight contracts, and manipulating agents, and it seems this couple is doomed.

Brooklyn and Caden will do anything to be together. They were meant for one another.

Just as things are looking positive, life will rear it’s ugly head. They will have to fight for their love.

Famous was a good start for the new series. At first I was a bit concerned because the first few chapters seem to focus on the Remembrance Trilogy. After that the book takes on a whole new direction. At times the book seemed a bit repetitious and a bit slow. The overall story had good balance and interesting characters.

I am looking forward to the next book with hopes that Brooklyn and Caden will find the happily ever after they are striving for.

Michel’s Review

The Fear That Divides Us by M. N. Forgy is the third full length novel in the Devil’s Dust series. This book can be read as a stand alone or in series order.

The Devil’s Dust MC has had it’s share of violence, betrayal, and trouble. It has also had it’s fair share of good times. They are a strong brotherhood and family unit. They protect their own at all costs.

Bobby has been a member of the Devil’s Dust MC for quite a few years. He has seen it all. The one thing that made a lasting impression on his soul is Jessica, also known as Doc. She captured his attention when he was a recruit. She kept his attention as she healed from her ordeal and became a strong independent woman. Her beauty is more than what the eye sees. Her strength is beyond measure. But she is still holding Bobby at arms length.

Bobby has and will do anything for Jessica. He has killed for her. He has cried for her. He will protect her at all costs. Although they hook up occasionally, he wants more. He wants her to be his old lady. Her past and fears are holding her back. It will be up to him to show her how strong she really is. It will be up to her to let the past go.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am planning to read the previous books. This book doesn’t particularly revolve around the Devil’s Dust MC and their club business. This book focuses on the couple itself and the problems they are facing behind the closed doors. It was well written with very strong charismatic characters. The backdrop of the MC added an interesting dimension in their relationship.

I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. M. N. Forgy has created an MC world readers will love. I highly recommend The Fear That Divides Us.Boo

Synopsis

He’ll keep her safe…but who will protect her from him?

Fixer Sara Reaver is in serious trouble. She’s stepped on the wrong toes, and now her uncle is sending her out of the city in an effort to keep her safe—and he’s assigning her a glorified babysitter. The last person she expects to show up is the gorgeous Z, or for him to tempt her and then reject her in the space of a single night. Twice. Now she’s out to prove to him just how good they’d fit up together in every way imaginable.

Mercenary Z Loreto hates protection jobs, but he’s willing to make an exception for his best friend’s little sister. The only problem is she calls up things he’s been doing his damnedest to keep under wraps for the last seven years. But when she pushes him too far, it all comes rushing to the fore, and the fact she’s willing to submit to his every desire only makes the loss of control sweeter.

Sara and Z have a boatload of issues between them, but they’re sure they can make things work if they take it one day at a time… Right up until things spiral beyond their control. Now Z’s playing for keeps in a big way, and Sara’s got to decide if a chance at true happiness is worth the risk of repeating history.

Tracey’s Review

Sara Reaver is a fixer. She cleans up messes of the illicit sort, getting her hands dirty so that others don’t have to. But when one of her former marks has Sara in his crosshairs, she finds herself in need of protection. Enter Zebadiah ‘Z’ Loreto, best friend of Sara’s brother. Hot and alpha, Z. knows that he should keep things strictly professional with Sara, but once the fires start burning, it’s hard to control them.

I have one word for Protecting Fate: HOT. This book started off with a bang, and just got better and steamier. Sara is a strong woman. She works hard and plays hard, and she’s not in the market for a relationship. When circumstance put her under Z.’s watchful eye, sparks fly, because the one place that Sara yields power is in the bedroom, and Z. is as alpha as they come. Try as they might, they are too drawn to each other to keep things all business, and it’s not long before they give in to their passion.

I love Sara’s feistiness. She knows what she wants, and how she wants it. Having watched her parents’ marriage fall apart, she is determined to stay far away from love, and to keep things casual. Z. has been burned by love, too, when he opened himself up and showed who he truly was. Afraid of driving Sara away, he’s willing to stick to the physical side of things, until he can’t.

This is a fast-paced and steamy read, and while there was a little bit of insta-love going on, Katee Robert was able to make the story believable for me. In all, I enjoyed Protecting Fate, enough that I would like to go back and read both Will’s and Garrett’s books, and that I gladly give it 4 steamy and sexy stars.

Michel’s Review

Captive Films: Season One is the complete collection of six episodes in the new explosive series by Jillian Dodd.

The Captive Films series is a spin off of the Keatyn Chronicles series by Jillian Dodd. The Keatyn Chronicles was a mature YA and NA series. It was based around an elite group of friends attending Eastbrooke Academy. Although the Keatyn Chronicles primarily focused on Keatyn (a famous young actress), it introduced some very interesting and strong secondary characters that caught the reader’s attention. The reader’s embraced these secondary characters and fell in love with them. Each one had a story to tell.

Captive Films is a fast forward to ten years later. The characters from the Keatyn Chronicles are now close to thirty, entangled in their perspective careers, building their own families, and struggling to keep it all in the right perspective. They are no longer teens with a carefree spirit. They are adults with real responsibilities. Their choices will not only affect their lives but also those around them. They are still struggling to keep the right kind of balance in their lives. To top it off, they have chosen a cut throat competitive industry to work in. They have built Captive Films into a monstrous film studio in the movie industry. Their lives are anything but dull. Welcome to Tinsel Town. Hollywood has a new group of players.

The Captive Films series is delivered by the season , in episodes. It is a serial. Each episode can be read within a short amount of time. It is the perfect kind of story to get involved with when your time is limited. An episode can be read on a lunch break. Each episode features the all the characters in the cast. Each of these characters has their own story going on that blends perfectly into the overall story.

The reader will meet movie stars, producers, rock stars, event planners, lawyers, and many more types of characters. The old cast will be present and new characters will be introduced. The scenery will vary from Hollywood landmarks to Napa Valley wineries. The book plays out like a television reality / soap opera series.

Captive Films can be read without reading the Keatyn Chronicles. The author gives a good background and description of all of the characters.  She ties their connections to one another past and present in a seamless way.  It is easy to connect the dots.

Captive Films: Season One has the right beginning to allure the reader and keep them fascinated with the overall story. The cliffhanger ending will have the reader’s staying tuned in for the Season Two.

Imagine being in love with the same girl since you were ten years old, only to have her fall for your twin instead. This story is rocky.
It will rip you apart and possibly put you back together again.
I know this because it’s my story.
The pain and anguish experienced in this is what it was like to hold onto hope that some day we’d find each other again. I won’t sugar coat the details of what I went through to have her, nor will I apologize for any actions that led me right back into her life.
Sometimes love isn’t enough.
Sometimes it takes a little fate.

EXCERPT

I can’t help but wonder about my own broken heart. Why am I holding onto some hope that I’ll have her in my arms again? It makes no sense, and that’s the reason I won’t share my feelings about it with anyone. They’ll just laugh at me for loving her so much. When I close my eyes we’re together. She’s running through a field of tall grasses, while beams of sun are shining down, highlighting her brown wavy hair. The smile on her face makes me beam, and I stand there, arms open, waiting to catch her when she comes into my reach. I want to lay there in that field with her until the sun sets, and even after. It’s no longer about making love. In that moment I know she’s mine, and nothing can tear us apart again.
I just wish I could talk to her. I want to tell her that I miss her. I need to know she’s okay.
I need to know she’s still alive.

 4 StarMichel’s Review

Love Survives by Jennifer Foor is the second book in the Love Suicide series.  I have read the first book in this series, Love’s Suicide.  It is from the heroine’s POV.  The second book is from the hero’s POV.  Love Survives can be read as a stand alone romance.

Out of the two books in this series, each from a different characters POV, I have to say I liked Love Survives better.  Love Survives is from Brook’s POV.  In my opinion, he was the main focus in this series.  He is the one that was loyal to those he loved.  He made great sacrifices that led his life in a direction he really didn’t want.  He didn’t want to be a soldier.  He wanted to build a life with Katy.  He left his family and his ruined relationship with his brother behind. Although he was physically absent, his heart and mind still belonged to Katy. His life in the military was miserable.  He witnessed horrific acts of war, watched friends die, and disconnected himself from the people that surrounded him.  And then the letters from Katy started coming.  She gave him hope again.

When he is injured and has to return stateside, he does everything in his power to be stationed near Katy.  When his endeavors finally lead him to Katy, he will find that his hopes were all for nothing.  Katy has once again deceived and betrayed him.  It may have been for what seemed like the right reasons but it was the final straw that finally broke him. Now it is up to Brook to chose his future for himself.  Is it with Katy?  Or can he finally move on?

When I read the first book, Katy irritated me.  When I read the second book, I absolutely hated Katy to the very end.  No matter what her reasons were, good or bad, she was a self absorbed individual.  She never really proved that she gave her heart completely.  She couldn’t make constructive decisions.  The decisions she made hurt the one man that would always love her.  She about destroyed his family as well.  And then her final betrayal was appalling.  As a woman, I could not forgive or respect her.  I could not understand how Brook could forgive her.  She was weak and only truly cared about how she would come out of all the messed up situations.  I have to honestly say that she is one of my most hated female characters.

Brook was an incredible person.  His heart was pure.  He was loyal to the ones he loved. When he made mistakes and betrayed his brother, he paid for it in more ways than the heart.  He always forgave Katy even though she didn’t deserve it.  When he finally had enough I was rejoicing for him.  He stayed true to himself and never intentionally hurt anyone.  He was a stand up guy.

Jennifer Foor aptly named this series Loves Suicide.  It was an angsty story that was heartbreaking and infuriating.  The book is well written and takes the reader on an emotional ride.  I would recommend reading this book.

Get the beginning of the story with Love Survives
My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.
Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known.
That’s where my story should have ended.
Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart.
The only question was…
Would I give it to him
I’m Katy Michaels and this is my story.

Rock Kiss Series – Book 2

By Nalini Singh

Release Date : March 10, 2015

Buy: Amazon / Barnes and Noble / ITunes

Synopsis

In New York Times Bestselling author Nalini Singh’s newest contemporary romance, passion ignites between a gorgeous, sinfully sexy man who built himself up from nothing and a shy woman who has a terrible secret in her past…

Wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop rules the boardroom with the same determination and ruthlessness that made him a rock star on the rugby field. He knows what he wants, and he’ll go after it no-holds-barred.

And what he wants is Charlotte Baird.

Charlotte knows she’s a mouse. Emotionally scarred and painfully shy, she just wants to do her job and remain as invisible as possible. But the new CEO—a brilliant, broad-shouldered T-Rex of a man who growls and storms through the office, leaving carnage in his wake—clearly has other plans. Plans that may be equal parts business and bedroom.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.

EXCERPT

Charlotte arrived at work at seven thirty the next morning to find Gabriel Bishop’s office door open, but no carnivorous predator inside. A fresh suit was hanging on the back of his door, however, which meant he’d been in already.

Deciding to catch up on e-mails that had come in overnight from international suppliers as well as stores involved in a stock take, she was typing a reply when a sweaty Gabriel arrived fifteen minutes later. He was dressed in black running shorts and a faded University of Auckland T-shirt that was currently sticking to his body.

She’d known he was in shape, but now she realized none of it was an illusion created by his well-cut suits. Okay, she’d already known that, but seeing his muscled body in the flesh was a whole different ball game. He was built like a tank, hard and powerful.

Each of his thighs was thicker than both of hers put together, his biceps toned, his shoulders appearing even wider than usual. Everything about him was big. Civilized clothing didn’t make him look better, she realized—it toned down his intense masculinity. Out of his suits, with the ink on the upper part of his left arm exposed, as well as that on his opposing thigh and…

Her skin hot and lower body clenching, she just nodded in response to his “Good morning.”

Disappearing into his office, he returned with his suit pants and a fresh shirt slung over his arm, along with a sports bag. “Push the meeting with Sales to nine, will you, Ms. Baird? I need to talk to HR about something before then.”

“Yes, sir,” Charlotte said almost soundlessly, but he was already gone, heading toward the employee shower one floor down.

The thigh tattoo went all the way around, the design intricate.

Heart rate a rapid stutter, Charlotte got up after he disappeared and decided to go grab him a coffee. He’d bought her one yesterday after all. She was just being nice. “Oh, shut up, Charlotte,” she muttered once she was in the elevator, and slumped her face into an upraised hand.

The truth was she was running away. Only for a few minutes, but that’s what this was: strategic retreat. Gabriel Bishop was overwhelming. Once, before she’d ever met him and under the influence of cocktails, she’d told Molly she wanted to rip off his shirt and sink her teeth into his pecs.

That desire hadn’t waned even now that she knew he was a T-Rex. Of course, the desire was all strictly in her imagination. The idea of actually handling him in real life? So impossible as to be laughable. Charlie-mouse was not about to play with a predator who could eat her alive and not even notice the bones. The good news was that she could admire him in relative safety—there was no chance in hell he’d ever notice her as a woman.

Getting the coffee from a nearby café, she took it back upstairs. He was in his office when she entered, the striped dark gray of his tie hanging around his neck and his damp hair roughly combed. The scent of clean, fresh soap over warm skin permeated the office. Shooting her a smile that turned him from gorgeous to flat-out devastating, he flipped up the collar of his white shirt to get the tie in place. “Thank you, Ms. Baird.”

Nodding, Charlotte escaped, though she really wanted to stay. She’d never realized how erotic it was to watch a man dress until this precise moment. And she shouldn’t be having these thoughts about her boss—especially since she couldn’t keep from quivering like a rabbit in his presence. Sometimes she just annoyed herself.

“Get to work,” she muttered and knuckled down.

Gabriel was fine for the first hour, but then he began barking orders even a six-armed woman with a split personality would have had trouble handling.

Finally, pushed to the edge, Charlotte snapped. “I’m going as fast as I can!” she yelled when he asked her for something a minute after he’d asked her to complete another task.

He scowled and held out a file. “This is a priority.”

Grabbing it from his hand, she said, “Fine,” and slapped it down on her desk.

It was over an hour later that he disappeared for ten minutes. When he returned, it was to put a small bakery box on her desk. “I think you need something to sweeten your mood today, Ms. Baird.”

What she needed was for the T-Rex who was her boss to stop snarling and growling, she thought as he returned to his office. Not opening the box until her curiosity had almost killed her, she found it held a slice of decadent chocolate cake with a white-chocolate ganache topped with curls of both white and milk chocolate. “I cannot be bribed with cake,” she muttered, eating a bite nonetheless.

Michel’s Review

T-Rex is hunting his prey. Charlotte, the sweet meek little mouse, is hiding from the predator. It may not be pre-historic times. Cavemen may not exist openly in modern times. The one thing that never changes is the law of the universe. There will always be an Alpha. He will claim what is his. He will own it, protect it, love it, and keep it. It is his.

We first met Charlotte in the first full novel in the Rock Kiss series. She is Molly’s timid and quiet best friend. She is easily intimidated. She is terrified of her new domineering boss. She has nicknamed him T-Rex. He was always stomping through the company, chewing up people, and spitting them out left and right. He is a demanding boss and he has promoted Charlotte to be his PA.

Gabriel Bishop is a former rugby player that had to retire due to injuries. His career has changed from being an aggressive player to aggressive businessman. He saves companies that are going under and turns them around. When he takes on a new company he knows that he has a battle in front of him. He has to be hard on the workers, rigid with his policies, and ruthless in the business world. That is what it takes to turn a company around. Weed out the weak and fortify the strong. What he didn’t expect was to be attacked by a stapler wielded by a mouse. Quickly that mouse turns out to be more than a timid little creature. Charlotte Baird is smart, witty, and determined. She may be shy but she is not a doormat. She has a warrior heart underneath it all. When he promotes Charlotte to be his PA, he will get more than a valuable assistant.

Gabriel knows that he will have to tread lightly and go slow with Charlotte. He senses that there is more to her shyness and timid personality. He wants her to be completely his. He wants her to know she’s valued just the way she is. He may have to go T-Rex at times, but catching his little mouse will be more delicious than he anticipated. T-Rex is going to learn some lessons from the little mouse.

I really liked Rock Hard. Gabriel and Charlotte were a very entertaining couple. I love books where complete opposites attract. I love when they bring out the best in each other. I am glad that Nalini brought these characters to life.

Tracey’s Review

Zoey Barnes has been in love with Blake Callahan for as long as she can remember. Her knight in shining armor, Blake helped Zoey to believe that she was important, that things would get better, that she could make her life whatever she wanted it to be. To Blake, though, Zoey is just his sister Tegan’s best friend, another little sister and part of his family. Convincing him that she’s so much more will be Zoey’s biggest challenge yet.

Visiting the community of Beachwood Bay and its residents is always a lovely experience for me. From the small-town closeness of Beachwood Bay to the extended and intertwined cast of characters, I know that I will love each story, and Unwritten is no different. I was excited to read this book, having previously been introduced to Zoey and Blake. Zoey is absolutely adorable. She speaks to a part of each of us, that part that is unsure, that is trying to find our place in the world, that wants something so badly that she will do whatever it takes to get it. Seeing her step out in faith to go after Blake is sometimes painfully awkward, but I couldn’t help but root for her. And Blake, Blake has had to be the consummate actor for a very long time, the Callahan that smooths out all the edges, that makes everyone feel better, even when he’s falling apart himself. In Melody Grace’s usual fashion, she has brought together two people that have suffered more than their fair share in their young lives, but whose resilience allows them to rise above their pasts. Separately, Zoey and Blake are getting through life just fine, but together they make each other shine, and be the best that they can be.

I love that Melody continues to give updates on everyone, so that it really seems as though we’re a part of their stories. That she is able to flow effortlessly from one book to the other, and not lose any of the depth of character, or punch of emotion, is a testament to her success as one of the currently reigning voices in contemporary romance. I am looking very forward to reading UNFORGETTABLE, Ash’s story, and give Unwritten 5 emotional and sexy stars.

Tina’s Review

Quick fore-notes: Although this is the seventh book in the series, I’ve not read any of the previous ones, nor have I ever read anything my Melody Grace until now. While I am NOT a fan of the awkward looking cover, I was intrigued by the minimalistic approach to the synopsis.
The story is written in a first-person POV, most often being Zoey’s but later it alternates more between her and Blake. All switches are clearly defined and the transitions are made smoothly. The prologue begins on New Year’s Eve, but then picks up months later. Throughout, there are flashbacks over the past six years. The timeline is clearly marked and easy to keep track of.
Zoey’s had a secret crush on her best friend Tegan’s older brother, Blake, for years. But being four years younger than him, she was always seen more like another kid sister. Now, both adults, she’s home from a stint in Paris and she’s determined to make him see her for the woman she is. A New Year’s Resolution, hers, coupled by a steamy kiss is the only validation she needs to pursue her attraction to him. All of the characters, whether good, bad or ugly, are well-written with diverse personas creating a rich, full cast. The dialogue and interaction between them is believable and feels fairly natural. There is enough dynamics and drama to keep the plot from feeling flat or listless and plenty of conflicts that needed to be worked through, some more maturely that others – but that is to be expected when the characters are early- to mid- 20-year olds. There was not a lot of predictability. The conclusion was solid and felt complete.
A final word: You know how you have a favorite snack, like a can of chips or a pint of ice cream? It’s a yummy treat that you enjoy devouring, but then you look down and it’s gone? You kind of feel guilty because you consumed it in one sitting and now there’s none left to savor and enjoy? That is how I felt with this book. Ms. Grace has a fluidity to her writing that made it entirely too possible to devour the book in a binge read.

Tina’s Review

Sam’s returned to Sanctuary Island, looking to Jo Ellen to house a racehorse in desperate need of TLC; one that he may just have rescued in less-than-legal ways. Andie believes in a black and white letter of the law. She does not believe there is a grey area to it at all. Caitlin’s the surprise 8-yr old niece that is delivered to Andie. She only has minutes to prepare after receiving a phone call from Owen, her military brother that she’s not heard from in years. She’s distrustful of adult females and seems to have taken a liking to Sam and the horses of Jo’s rehab center. It’s a treacherous line they’ll walk to find a healthy balance.
Sam’s past makes him a bit more impulsive when protection is needed. It also makes him more perceptive to like souls. Andie’s past has made he stronger and more independent that she’s almost unreachable in some things. Although these two were less enjoyable and a little more difficult to connect with, for me, they were still well written. The introduction of a few new characters along with many of the past round out the cast to the story. As usual, the dialogue and interactions are believable and natural feeling. The plot has just enough “uh-oh” drama to keep you on the edge of your seat and enough sub-plot to keep hoping for more. Plenty depth and dynamics in a smooth-flowing, full plot. There were several conflicts layered and interwoven throughout the story, all of which are resolved in a timely manner with very little predictability. The conclusion was sold, wrapping up all of loose ends of the main story and the sub-plot while the epilogue gave the readers an exciting glimpse into what to expect from the next book.
Once again, Ms. Everett has provided the readers a fantastic story about second chances, renewed hope and finding love and trust.

Excerpt

Oh the joys of watching the man you love get ready to take another woman home … especially when she’s one bad dye job away from being an Oompa-Loompa.

Here’s a little snippet from CHANGING EVERYTHING for y’all! Enjoy!

 “Pay!”

“Oh no,” I breathed, and looked at Kristen to act like I hadn’t heard Eli. “If he makes me play pool with him while he makes out with another girl again, I will lose it!”

“He’s smiling, at least he didn’t see you moping—and he’s walking over here. With her. Right now. He’s—”

“Pay, we’re gonna head out, were you ready to leave?”

I turned to look at them with a smile plastered on my face, but it was entirely possible I looked like I was grimacing. “Well … ” I began, but the girl in Eli’s arms held up her hand.

She made a sickened face as her head jerked up to look at Eli, then back at me. Long seconds passed as she looked me up and down with her lips parted in disgust. “Um … ew! I’m, like, not really into that whole threesome thing. So gross. Yano?”

I wanted to remind her that “you” and “know” were two separate words … but with the way she looked, I was surprised she knew that Eli plus her plus me equaled three and not the color burrito, so I kept that to myself.

Eli’s face pinched together like he’d eaten something sour, and before he said something that would inevitably crush me even more tonight, I tried to speak his latest pick’s language.

“Ohmigod, like, ew, right?”

Kristen’s hand flew to her mouth as beer sprayed out, and Eli’s lack-of-amused expression let me know that he knew what I was doing.

At least I didn’t feel like I was going to throw up anymore.

“Threesomes are so way gross,” I continued, not like I’d know. But the girl nodded her head and pursed her lips.

“So, like, is she gonna watch?” she asked, and it took everything in me not to shoot Eli a look that said: Really? This is what you want?

Michel’s Review

Molly McAdams delivered another emotional novella. Changing Everything had a different tone than most of her books. It did not have the heart wrenching angst and anguished characters. It was a book that is close to being a realistic situation that many have found themselves in.

Paisley Morro has been in love with her best friend, Eli Jenkins. They have done everything together, made traditions, and depended on each other. The problem is Paisley. Her unrequitted love has finally reached it’s limits. She cannot stand by and watch Eli’s many conquests. She cannot be his excuse to escape the women after he is finished with them. She has had enough of being alone and waiting for that moment when Eli will notice her love. When she finally meets a guy that could be a game changer , she decides it’s time to let go of her hopes of a relationship with Eli. She makes one last ditch effort and finally tells Eli how she feels. He is shocked. He does not feel the same way. It’s time for her to move on.

Eli didn’t realize what he had with Paisley. Now that she has moved on and he is no longer the most important person in her life he is struck with remorse and shame. He realizes that Paisley is part of his soul. She is the only woman he could ever truly love. He has lost her to another man. It’s time to tell her the truth about how he feels.

Eli is going to have the challenge of his life. He is going to have to win Paisley’s heart. He has to prove that she can trust her heart with him and that he will always cherish it.

Changing Everything was emotional without being overly angsty. The dynamics in Paisley and Eli’s relationship is heartwarming. It is clear that they were meant to be together.

This novella will not disappoint. It is a charming romance.
