Verity_Amazon_iBooks.jpg

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity likely didn’t intend for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

VERITY TEASER THREE.jpg

Excerpt:

“What are you wearing?” Corey is staring down at my shirt, perplexed, just now noticing it despite having spent the last fifteen minutes with me.

I look down at my oversized shirt. For a moment, I forgot how ridiculous I look. “I spilled coffee on my other shirt this morning and had to change.”

“Whose shirt is that?”

I shrug. “Probably yours. It was in my closet.”

“You left your house in that? There wasn’t something else you could have worn?”

“It doesn’t look high fashion?” I’m being sarcastic, but he doesn’t catch it.

He makes a face. “No. Is it supposed to?”

Such an ass. But he’s good in bed, like most assholes.

I’m actually relieved when the conference room door opens and a woman walks in. She’s followed, almost comically, by an older man walking so closely behind her, he bumps into the back of her when she stops.

“Goddammit, Barron,” I hear her mumble.

I almost smile at the idea of Goddammit Barron actually being his name.

Jeremy enters last. He gives me a small nod that goes unnoticed by everyone else.

The woman is dressed more appropriately than I am on my best day, with short black hair and lipstick so red, it’s a little jarring at nine thirty in the morning. She seems to be the one in charge as she reaches for Corey’s hand, and then mine, while Goddammit Barron looks on. “Amanda Thomas,” she says. “I’m an editor with Pantem Press. This is Barron Stephens, our lawyer, and Jeremy Crawford, our client.”

Jeremy and I shake hands, and he does a good job of pretending we didn’t share an extremely bizarre morning. He quietly takes the seat across from me. I try not to look at him, but it’s the only place my eyes seem to want to travel. I have no idea why I’m more curious about him than I am about this meeting.

Amanda pulls folders out of her briefcase and slides them in front of Corey and me.

“Thank you for meeting with us,” she says. “We don’t want to waste your time, so I’ll cut right to the chase. One of our authors is unable to fulfill a contract due to medical reasons, and we’re in search of a writer with experience in the same genre who may be interested in completing the three remaining books in her series.”

I glance at Jeremy, but his stoic expression doesn’t hint at his role in this meeting.

“Who is the author?” Corey asks.

“We’re happy to go over the details and terms with you, but we do ask that you sign the non-disclosure agreement. We would like to keep our author’s current situation out of the media.”

“Of course,” Corey says.

I acquiesce, but I say nothing as we both look over the forms and then sign them. Corey slides them back to Amanda.

“Her name is Verity Crawford,” she says. “I’m sure you’re familiar with her work.”

Corey stiffens as soon as they mention Verity’s name. Of course we’re familiar with her work. Everyone is. I hazard a glance in Jeremy’s direction. Is Verity his wife? They share a last name. He said downstairs that his wife is a writer. But why would he be in a meeting about her? A meeting she isn’t even here for?

“We’re familiar with the name,” Corey says, holding his cards close.

“Verity has a very successful series we would hate to see go unfinished,” Amanda continues. “Our goal is to bring in a writer who is willing to step in, finish the series, complete the book tours, press releases, and whatever else is normally required of Verity. We plan to put out a press release introducing the new co-writer while also preserving as much of Verity’s privacy as possible.”

Release Blitz + 6 Star Review: All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

All Your Perfects

By Colleen Hoover

Buy: Amazon

Synopsis:

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us—whose writing is “emotionally wrenching and utterly original” (Sarah Shepard, New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars series)—delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.

Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover is one of those novels that touches the soul in some way. I think every reader will be touched by Quinn and Graham’s story. Although many of us will never know the kind of pain that nearly destroyed them both, it will make us aware of others in that situation and become more sympathetic.

Quinn and Graham met in unusual circumstances but it was evident fate meant for them to be together. Their love was a fairytale until the happily ever after turned sour. Their perceptions of a perfect relationship and perfect family evolve into an obsessive and destructive obstacle that is destroying their lives.

Without saying more… I will say this is a must read and will leave a lasting impact. Once again Colleen Hoover delivered an emotional novel with all the imperfections that make it perfect. Life is anything but imperfect, imperfection makes it worth every moment.

Without Merit

By Colleen Hoover

Buy: Amazon / B & N / IBooks / Kobo

Synopsis

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us and November 9 comes a moving and haunting novel of family, love, and the power of the truth.

“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.”

The Voss family is anything but normal. They live in a repurposed church, newly baptized Dollar Voss. The once cancer-stricken mother lives in the basement, the father is married to the mother’s former nurse, the little half-brother isn’t allowed to do or eat anything fun, and the eldest siblings are irritatingly perfect. Then, there’s Merit.

Merit Voss collects trophies she hasn’t earned and secrets her family forces her to keep. While browsing the local antiques shop for her next trophy, she finds Sagan. His wit and unapologetic idealism disarm and spark renewed life into her—until she discovers that he’s completely unavailable. Merit retreats deeper into herself, watching her family from the sidelines, when she learns a secret that no trophy in the world can fix.

Fed up with the lies, Merit decides to shatter the happy family illusion that she’s never been a part of before leaving them behind for good. When her escape plan fails, Merit is forced to deal with the staggering consequences of telling the truth and losing the one boy she loves.

Poignant and powerful, Without Merit explores the layers of lies that tie a family together and the power of love and truth.

Robin’s Review

Author Colleen Hoover touches on a very important topic in her new novel titled Without Merit. Her distinctive wit and humor dance around the subject of mental health. Readers will find comfort in her familiar writing voice but will also notice Without Merit is a bit different from anything she has ever written. Packed with unconventional characters and intense family drama, this book was nearly impossible for me to put down!

Our primary character, Merit Voss, lives in a re-purposed church building located in a small Texas town. Dubbed Dollar Voss, the church building is now the home to seven Voss family members. Merit is the self-proclaimed keeper of Voss family secrets. From her point of view, her family is embarrassing and completely dysfunctional. She harbors pent up anger towards family members, resents her eccentric living circumstances, and blames both of these reasons for her lack of a social life.

We’ve all heard some of these questions asked – how do you know if your family is normal? Which human behaviors are considered dysfunctional? Is there even such thing as a normal family? While I was reading this novel, I found myself focusing on questions such as these. Without Merit forced me to consider my own family dynamics and other important themes such as perspective, judgement, and resentment.

From the viewpoint of a teenage girl, the behaviors or makeup of a family unit can be traumatic, even embarrassing and frustrating. Colleen Hoover was very clever as she penned Merit’s passive-aggressive point-of-view. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but throughout this story I had this sense that we were building towards something important. It was subtle at first, barely there, and then it became more gradual. But it was there – I felt this impending sense that something climactic was coming.

Without Merit has solid character development, creativity, romantic tension, and eccentric secondary characters – all the characteristics we love to see in a top Colleen Hoover novel. Hoover took a step away from the new adult genre with this novel – something that I was delighted to see! This fiction novel falls soundly into the young adult age group, with a lean toward the coming of age genre.

Without Merit is a fantastic read, but the truth is, this story has the potential to touch people’s lives. At the very minimum, it will open the eyes of readers to the importance of mental health. I am sure of this. I highly recommend Without Merit. I’m giving this book a 5-star rating and will be adding it to my list of 2017 favorites!

*****

Michel’s Review

Without Merit by Colleen Hoover is one of those unique novels that doesn’t quite fit in any specific genre.  It is the type of novel that will appeal to readers of all ages and all backgrounds.

Without Merit features a dysfunctional family seen through a teenager’s perspective.  Like most modern day families, the Voss family structure is based upon busy schedules, individual agendas and poor communications. It is their normal until it no longer works. When one family member disrupts the cogs in their wheels, it’s the beginning of the breakdown of their family unit until they find a better way to function as a unit rather than a bunch of individuals living under one roof.

Merit Voss feels invisible amongst her family members and permanent house guests. Her family is dysfunctional in every way.  Her mother lives in the basement while her father’s new wife is running the house.  Her siblings are busy with their involvement in school activities and extra curricular activities.  They each have their own quirks that add to the family dysfunction.  Her twin sister’s boyfriend has moved in with them and she finds herself falling for him.  The last thing she needs is to deal with the guilt of coveting her sister’s boyfriend.  When her stepmom’s crazy younger brother joins the family home it disrupts the family dynamics all the more.  His crazy antics and insightful observations add to the chaos.

One fateful moment brings clarity to the family. One dog bonds them together in an unusual way.  Things have to change because no matter what happens, they love one another.

Colleen Hoover touched upon so many issues that plague the modern day family. Not only was the family dysfunctional, every person in the household had their own issues they were dealing with.  Colleen added her quirky sense of humor to all of the characters and gave them individual traits that were easy to love. This lightened the heaviness of the subject matter in this book.  She also showed that whether it’s blood or by choice, family is the foundation that made each individual strong in their own way.  The family bond is what healed them all and led them on the path of healthier lives.

I would highly recommend Without Merit by Colleen Hoover.

It Ends With Us

By Colleen Hoover

Buy: Amazon / B & N / ITunes / Kobo

Synopsis

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

Spoiler Free Review

The newest novel from author Colleen Hoover is romantic and sweet. Heartbreaking and suspenseful. Hopeful and healing. Exhilarating and profound. Eye-opening. “Deeply personal” for the woman who wrote it. I heard whispers that this story would be different from anything Colleen Hoover had previously written. It’s true. It Ends With Us is far from her norm, and I strongly believe it may be her best work yet.

It Ends With Us is a story where past and present collide. It’s a refreshingly honest novel that stars a cast of three characters: Lily Bloom, Ryle Kincaid and Atlas Corrigan. Instead of giving a broad summary of what this story entails, I strongly encourage that you experience it without expectations of what you’ll be reading. Stay away from Facebook and other social media. Go in blind. Put your trust in Colleen Hoover and read It Ends With Us the way it is meant to be read. Like so many readers before me, I did, and I’m extremely grateful for my reading experience!

Colleen Hoover is a gifted author. She writes romance novels, but her stories are about so much more than love. Her novels are about characters who face difficult circumstances. It Ends With Us is a novel that has everything a seasoned reader loves to find in a quality new adult novel. Strong character growth. A powerful, emotionally charged plot. Romantic chemistry that will put you on the edge of your seat. Outstanding character dialogue and flawless writing. At times while I was reading, my heart felt bruised, but in the end, I found this story completely fulfilling.

For all these reasons, I’m giving Colleen Hoover a 6-star rating. This 2016 favorite is inspiring, and I honestly expect it will be life-changing for many readers. You won’t want to miss this novel. Please be sure to read It Ends With Us!

Spoiler Free Review

After reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover I was at wits end on how to review this book.  There are just not the right kind of words to describe this reading experience without giving away spoilers.  It’s a novel that each reader needs to experience themselves.  The only word I could use to accurately describe this novel is PROFOUND.

It Ends With Us is not the typical romance.  I wouldn’t even put this novel in the romance genre.  It is more like a contemporary fiction novel or womens fiction novel.

I would suggest that readers stay away from social media and sites where spoilers and in depth reviews are posted .  This type of influence could give the readers the wrong perceptions going in. I highly recommend going into this novel “blind”, free of any influence from the outside world.

Colleen Hoover is a gifted writer that delivers a unique reading experience with every one of her novels.  It Ends With Us has layers upon layers within the overall plot of the story.  Each and everyone of her characters are multi dimensional.  There are so many shades of gray within this novel.  Colleen colors these shades of gray and gives the reader a completely different perspective.  As this novel progresses, the colors change in value and tone, very much like a kaleidoscope .  In the end the reader walks away with new perceptions, a deeper understanding of these life circumstances, and hopefully a more tolerable opinion.

Each character in this novel was shaped by their pasts.  There were cracks in their entire being.  They were both good and bad, loving and hateful, and lastly broken but not beyond salvation.  They were who they were and had to choose how to proceed in their future lives.  They all had to choose the path they wanted to take in their future that would illuminate rather than darken their lives.

This novel touched me on so many different emotional and physical levels.  I walked away with a different perspective.  In no way do I condone some of the issues but I will not be quick to judge people in these life situations.

The writing was beyond superb.  It delivered a very profound message.  It was a real portrayal of life, love, relationships, and family.  It was enlightening.  The overall message was positive.

Robin’s Review

I’ve found a new favorite novel from author Colleen Hoover! This one is special, friends, and although I’ve seen a couple differing opinions, it’s just a beautiful love story. In my opinion, November 9 has it all. It’s warm and fuzzy. It’s full of emotion-driven angst, twists and turns we’ve come to expect from Colleen Hoover, and characters who dare you to fall in love with them. November 9 is one of the most satisfying novels that I have read in a very long time, and I have HUGE hangover after reading it!

On the day she’s supposed to move from Los Angeles to New York, Fallon O’Neil meets Benton James Kessler. It’s rotten luck that Fallon the transient should meet Ben the writer on that day – not only are they attracted to each other, but the two of them have an immediate connection. Fallon has a fiery personality, and although she lacks self-confidence, she is full of life. Ben is an aspiring novelist. He’s handsome, charming and thoughtful – characteristics that I love to see in a Colleen Hoover male lead character.

After spending the most amazing day together, Fallon and Ben know they have to part ways, but not before they decide to make future plans. At the age of eighteen, Fallon knows she doesn’t want a boyfriend until she’s at least 23, so the two of them decide on a compromise: they plan to meet on the same date, November 9, at the same time and place, each year until they are both 23. No phone numbers are to be exchanged, and no contact is allowed in-between. In the meantime, Ben now has the creative inspiration he needs to begin writing his novel.

If it’s a story written by Colleen Hoover, there’s a good chance I’ll fall in love with the male lead character, and that’s exactly what happened. I’m tickled pink about my love for Ben! I’m pretty sure it surpasses my love for Ridge, the male lead character of Maybe Someday. Hoover immediately grabbed my attention with the compelling interaction between Fallon and Ben. It’s every woman’s dream to meet someone like Ben, and I fell in love hard with this couple.

I found myself intrigued with each new visit, curious to learn what Fallon and Ben had experienced during the previous year. It was exciting for me to read where each new visit would take them as a couple, especially when you factor in real life experiences. I was impressed by the character growth that Fallon and Ben show over the arc of the novel. Of course, Colleen Hoover is a master at weaving plot twists. If you’ve read any of her other novels, you probably already know to expect one when you read November 9. All I can tell everyone is to hold on tight while Hoover takes you for a ride! My emotions were literally up and down, all over the place, while I followed Ben and Fallon on their relationship journey.

Colleen Hoover gets a 6-star rating for November 9! It was absolutely perfect for me, and I am bursting with excitement to share my love for this novel with anyone who will listen! In a year where we have seen so many talented authors release outstanding novels, November 9 is a strong contender for my book of the year!

Michel’s Review

November 9 by Colleen Hoover has made my 2015 Favorites list.  This is a book you don’t want to miss!

Colleen Hoover has a special gift of creating a story that is flawless, effortless, and compelling.  Her characters take on a life of their own.  Their story reaches out and keeps you captive until the very last word.  As the story unfolds the reader becomes a part of the story and is falling in love as well.  But an epic love story is not the complete story.  Colleen adds a plot that sneaks up on the reader and smacks them in the face before they have a chance to see it coming.  The reader is so involved with the characters themselves and enraptured by their personalities that they don’t look for the hidden plot that is evolving.

Out of all of Colleen’s books I think November 9 is my favorite.  Ben and Fallon are both dynamic characters in completely different ways.  Their personalities complement each other and bring out the best in one another.  I loved seeing the personal growth between these two as individuals and as a couple as they were evolving into adulthood.  Both had their crosses to carry in life but let that one day each year become their magical moment where the only thing that existed in the world was each other. It was their time of acceptance, healing, and loving unconditionally.

For five years Ben and Fallon met on November 9.  Each year was a life altering moment in their lives.  They learned to love, to hurt, to ache, to accept, and to forgive.  Their journey began on November 9 and came to a full circle on November 9.  Several years of their lives were tied up in that one day, those precious moments that made the rest of their lives credible and worthwhile.

Colleen Hoover delivered an emotional story that will forever remain in my heart.

During their senior year at NYU, Grace and Matt struck up a friendship over Jeff Buckley, Pearl Jam, and the Ramones. She was going to be a world-class cellist and he was going to be a famous photographer, their paths destined to diverge after graduation.

Even after an afternoon pub crawl ended in their drunken, spontaneous wedding, their visions for the future never overlapped enough for them to be together. The summer after college, he left his “ex-wife” on good terms and went to Brazil to work for National Geographic. They vowed to stay in touch and see each other soon.

They never did.

Fifteen years later, back in New York City, Matt sees Grace as she boards the J train. They’re both different in a hundred ways, and yet they’re still the same. But just as they recognize each other, just as he understands what he left behind all those years ago, the train pulls away. His only recourse is to send a missed connections letter out into the world, and hope she remembers where to look.

Robin’s Review

Colleen Hoover is well-known for including innovative and artistic features in her novels. Whether she is collaborating with a musician or artist, writing poetry or writing in the lyrical style, Hoover’s creativity makes her stories unique and special. In the past, she successfully collaborated with recording artist Griffin Peterson for Maybe Someday. Peterson wrote and recorded several songs that are included in the story. I found that listening to each of the songs while I was reading Maybe Someday greatly enhanced my reading experience.

Colleen Hoover has now collaborated with artist Danny O’Conner to create paintings that are included in Confess. Hoover also asked her readers to submit anonymous confessions – real confessions – some of which were chosen to be included in Confess. In this story, anonymous confessions are left at the door of artist Owen Gentry, and he uses these confessions as inspiration for his paintings. Pictures of Danny O’Conner’s paintings are found throughout the novel.

Confess is a deeply moving story about two individuals who each have a past shrouded in mystery. Twenty-year-old cosmetologist Auburn Reed recently moved from Portland, Oregon to Dallas, Texas. She needs a second job so she can afford to hire an attorney. Twenty-one-year-old Owen Gentry is desperately in need of an assistant to help in his art studio. Auburn notices the “HELP WANTED” sign in the window of the art studio first. Then she notices a sign that reads CONFESS. Finally, she notices a multitude of confessions – each written in different handwriting – which cover the windows of the studio. When Owen opens the door of his art studio to find Auburn reading the confessions, it felt like fate was throwing these two characters together.

Colleen Hoover’s writing is top-notch in Confess. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to weave an unforgettable story, and Confess is unforgettable in the best kind of way! Owen Gentry and Auburn Reed both have their own secrets. In fact, there is a lot of mystery surrounding the main and secondary characters. It didn’t take long for me to realize this, and if you are anything like me, your head will be full of questions as you read this novel. If you didn’t already know this about Colleen Hoover, you will find out she is an expert at slowly unwinding her story, giving readers small bits of information until you finally have the full picture at the end of the novel.

Confess was not easy for me to read. I have read every novel Colleen Hoover has published, and Confess has a darker feel to it than most of her previous novels. My emotions were all over the place while I read this story. Parts of Confess left me feeling very sad. I felt anger. Angst. But I also felt hope, and there were plenty of moments where I caught myself smiling, laughing and feeling joy. There are huge reveals in Confess. Twists in the storyline. I am still intrigued by the confessions submitted by real people like you and me – most of them are profound and heartbreaking. And O’Conner’s paintings are incredible. Confess is a very special novel that is well-deserving of 5 stars. You won’t want to miss reading this latest novel from author Colleen Hoover!

5starredMichel’s Review

Colleen Hoover has once again delivered a compelling novel that touches more than the reader’s mind.  She incorporates their senses as well as their imagination.  She taps into their emotional realm and touches their soul.  She engages the reader’s complete attention.

Colleen is known for her collaboration with other types of artists to bring her stories to life. She collaborated with musician Griffin Peterson in her novel Maybe Someday and brought music to her story.  This time around in her latest release she has collaborated with artist Danny O’Connor to bring color and visual emotions to the reader.  She has also incorporated some of her readers by using their confessions to inspire her writing and the artist’s paintings.  This monumental collaboration resulted in the truly touching novel Confess.

Confess has a bit of a darker undertone than most of Colleen’s novels.  It starts out with despair and heartache.  The kind of heartache that will never go away and be forgotten.  Time does heal the deep rooted pain to a dull ache that remains in the soul.  Time also gives back a new kind of balance that helps alleviate the pain.  Time gives us new things to focus on, new things to love and cherish.  It teaches us that it’s okay to move on and live again.  It teaches us that is okay to have regrets, remorse, heartache, and rebellion.  It also teaches us that it is okay to be happy, live life to it’s fullest, and that love is the greatest gift.  The one thing about life is that it is going to be no matter what.  That is where confessions come into play.  They can be good or bad.  They can be mean or pleasant.  They can be beautiful or ugly.  They are parts of ourselves that validate our lives.

Owen Gentry is a gifted artist that uses anonymous confessions as inspirations for his work.  He lets they confessions touch his soul and guide his brush.  He has witnessed life at it’s ugliest and knows that others have had their own personal crosses to bear.  When he places a help wanted sign in his studio window he is unaware that is the first footstep to a new journey in his life.  It has opened the door to his destiny and fate.

Auburn Reed has come to Texas with a purpose.  She is young and broke.  She needs money to bring her purpose into action.  Her job as a cosmetologist isn’t going to get it done.  She needs another job.  When she stops at a storefront window and begins to read confessions pasted all over the windows, she is mesmerized.  When she spies the help wanted sign in the window, she knows fate has led her down this path.  When she meets the charismatic artist, Owen Gentry, she knows her destiny is somehow intwined with his.

Auburn and Owen’s lives have been fated for a long time.  Their history is intertwined in a very odd and mysterious way.  The other people in their lives are dictating the path their lives are on at this time.  It will be up to Owen and Auburn to make their own path and let destiny guide them.  They will have to let go of the secrets in their souls.  They will have to confess.

Colleen Hoover delivers a powerful message throughout Confess.  She not only delivers an entertaining novel, she gives her readers food for thought.  Then she adds an extra layer of icing by giving her readers another way to experience her story.  She gives them a visual with the artwork by Danny O’ Connor.

Danny O’ Connor’s contribution was breathtaking.  Each of the paintings captured that one moment and monumental emotions of that moment.  He looked into the soul of the characters and gave them more than a face.  He painted their souls.

Confess is a consuming reading and visual experience.  Thank you Colleen Hoover and Danny O’ Connor for this experience.

About Danny O’Connor

DOC-profile-pic-01My name is Danny O’Connor I’m an artist from Liverpool UK and I studied Graphic Arts at Liverpool John Moores Art School.

My work is a celebration of contrasts focusing mainly on portraits and figures with a prevalence of opposing artistic influences. My inspiration walks a tightrope between high and lowbrow sources as diverse as Comics, Illustration, Character Design, Tattoo art and Graffiti to Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, Futurism, Art Noveau, Modernism and Constructivism all pulled together to create hyper stylised and abstracted works. Contrasts play a big role in what I do, it’s probably the most resounding feature throughout all of my work in one way or another. I like to mix natural flowing lines with harsh diagonals. Clean crisp areas of colour with layered messy splashes of paint. I’m trying to achieve something that appears both modern and almost futuristic whilst retaining a raw traditional aesthetic.

The paintings are built up in layer upon layer of paint which give the pieces great depth of field. They are created with an arsenal of tools that doesn’t settle with convention. As well as the more widely acknowledged paint and brush I use all manner of mediums such as, Correction Fluid, Spray Paint, Ink, Paint Markers, Texture Pastes, Charcoal, Graphite, Oil sticks and Collage. All applied in an equally diverse manner using brushes, fingers, paint rollers, sticks, paper and cardboard to drip, splash, spray, print and stroke the paint onto the surface.

About Colleen Hoover

Colleen HooverColleen Hoover’s love for writing began in 1985 when she was five years old. Her first story was titled “Mystery Bob” and was a huge hit with her mother, who was really good at faking interest.
Colleen continued to write short stories for friends and family until December of 2011, when she decided to write a long story she titled, “Slammed.” She self-published SLAMMED to Amazon in January, 2012 and it hit the NYT’s bestsellers list in May, 2012. She has since signed with Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, and now has six NYT’s bestsellers. Colleen prefers to be called a writer, as the term “author” still terrifies her and makes this feel like a job with expectations. She doesn’t work well under pressure and hopes writing will always remain fun and exciting.
Colleen’s newest novel, UGLY LOVE, releases August 5th, 2014. She is currently working on a new novel, CONFESS, which she is writing as fast as she can before she wakes up from this crazy dream.

You can follow Colleen on Instagram and Twitter @colleenhoover. You can also find her on her blog at http://www.colleenhoover.com where she holds a daily book-a-day giveaway, or on her very active Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/authorcolleenhoover where she loves to give away more free stuff when her husband isn’t looking.

Colleen also wants the world to know that writing short biographies in third person is incredibly awkward.

Robin’s Review

I want to begin by expressing my appreciation for the opportunity to review an advanced reader copy of Never Never on behalf of Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews.

Colleen Hoover recently shared on a blog post how a writing partnership was formed between herself and Tarryn Fisher. Colleen began by explaining she had an idea she had been considering for a novel. She shared her idea with Tarryn. Tarryn loved the idea and encouraged Colleen to begin writing the story. Colleen remained busy with other commitments, so Tarryn decided to write a first chapter and email it to Colleen. Colleen enjoyed reading the chapter so much that she decided to write a second chapter and sent it back to Tarryn. New chapters continued to be written. They were enjoying themselves. All I can say is thank goodness they decided to publish this story!

This review will not contain spoilers beyond what the authors have previously chosen to share. But I will share a glimpse of how this special story begins. Imagine you suddenly become aware of your surroundings. You remember nothing of the moment before. You don’t know your name or what you look like or where you are. You have no recollection of your past. Silas Nash and Charlie Wynwood both experience this in Never Never. It doesn’t take long for Silas and Charlie to meet and realize they are both in the same predicament. Why did this happen to them? How do they remember? And what do they mean to each other?

Here are some details I feel comfortable sharing about this story. The events of Never Never take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our main characters are in high school. The chapters for the male protagonist, Silas Nash, are written by Colleen Hoover. The chapters for the female protagonist, Charlie Wynwood, are written by Tarryn Fisher. It’s young adult fiction. It’s a drama full of mystery and intrigue, where every answer they uncover leads to more questions. It’s thrilling. Romantic. There is even a paranormal aspect to this story, although I haven’t quite figured that part out. That’s because the story is not quite finished. Colleen confirmed there is more of the story to be written on her recent blog post.

Even though this novel has been written by two authors, I feel the story flowed seamlessly. Any differences in writing style felt completely natural to me. After all, Silas and Charlie have different personalities.  I immediately felt an affinity for Silas and Charlie. I guess you could say that I fell in love with these characters. I’m pretty sure I feel this way because Silas and Charlie bear a distinct resemblance to two of my favorite fictional characters.  And Charlie also reminds me of one of my favorite authors.

I love mystery mixed with my romance.  I love piecing together puzzles. But this novel left me reeling! I was wide awake into the night considering all of the possibilities for this story. What could possibly be happening to Silas and Charlie? What clues have I missed?  I promise that I have lost sleep over this novel, and I could probably discuss theories for days!

Parts of this story are seriously funny! I laughed out loud on many occasions, and I’m pretty sure I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading Never Never. I found myself on a collision course with the last page of the novel. I devoured each page with gusto. It’s like Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover wrote the perfect novel for me. They have me hoping for a fairytale outcome for Silas and Charlie. The sequel to Never Never has become my most anticipated novel for this year. Congratulations go out to Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher for this epic 6-star novel!
