Tracey’s Review

Finally, FINALLY, Ashleigh and Luke have found their way back to each other. And, really, these two are just wonderful together. Although Ashleigh accepts what Luke has said and known all along, that they belong together, she wants to take things slowly, and Luke is happy to make her happy. It doesn’t take long, though, for them to end up just where they’re meant to be, HEA and everything.

CALLING ME HOME is the perfect ending to this series. Seeing Ash and Luke come to the conclusions that we had known all along is wonderful. Their love story is so romantic, and I loved seeing them come full circle. Having Haven, Jake, and Beth along for the ride makes everything much more fun, and like a visit from old friends. The epilogue is the icing on the cake, as I always want a nice wrap-up, and Louise has done a lovely job of tying things up here.

Reading one of Louise’s books is always a treat for me, and this book and series is no exception. I enjoyed and recommend each book in the Calling Me series, and can’t wait for Beth to get her happily ever after. 5 happy, romantic, couldn’t be sweeter stars for this one.

Tracey’s Review

Now that Ashleigh and Luke’s relationship has taken a very different direction, things are starting to change. While Luke couldn’t be more thrilled and sure that everything is just as it should be, Ash is in retreat and reconsider mode.

Let me be clear about this: I am in love with this series. I fall a little bit harder for Louise Bay’s writing with each book of hers that I read. Luke has won my heart, and Ash, although she’s making me crazy, makes me want to grab her and hug her and reassure her that everything will work out. If CALLING ME BACK was the build-up of the evolution of the relationship between Luke and Ash, CALLING ME AWAY is the dip, the sort of ‘oh, my goodness, NOW what do we do?!’ part of the story. It’s that part that makes me, as a reader, feel all angsty and unsure, just wishing that these two could get back on the same page and get together already. With all of that said, though, this story just makes the anticipation of CALLING ME HOME, the third and final book in this series, that much sweeter. Getting to see more of Haven, Jake (who I am loving even more the more that I see of him), and Beth is an added bonus. 5 angsty, nail-biting, impatient yet hopeful stars for CALLING ME AWAY. Book 3 can’t come soon enough!

Tracey’s Review

Ashleigh Franklin has been in love with Luke Daniels for as long as she can remember. She even knows the exact moment when her heart became his. But Luke has always seen Ash as another little sister, a member of his family. Lately things seem to have changed, though, and now Ash doesn’t know quite what to make of it.

I met and loved Ash in WHAT THE LIGHTNING SEES, Haven and Jake’s story. As the crazy best friend and third member of the trio made up of Haven and her brother, Jake, Ash constantly had me laughing with her snark and sass. In this book, we see another side of Ash. We see her vulnerability, her utter and absolute love for Luke, and how torn she is between wishing him well in his current relationship and wishing that he could be hers.

Luke has always seen Ash as an extension of his family, always just there and much loved. He can’t imagine a life without Ash in it, even as he comes to the realization that he may not feel the same way about Emma, his girlfriend of three years. When life changes occur, it’s Ash that’s uppermost in Luke’s thoughts, and life as they knew it changes drastically.

I love the characters that Louise Bay writes. I’ve always said that they are just the type of people that I would want to be friends with, and I feel exactly the same about this book. CALLING ME BACK is a book that captured me from the first page, and I could not put it down until I’d reached the end, all too soon, I might add. Delighted about the way that things played out in this book, I was left just…waiting. As this is the first book in a trilogy, I fully expected the cliffhanger, and Louise delivered in a fashion that has me waiting impatiently to get my hands on CALLING ME AWAY (Book 2). 5 lovely, sexy, romantic, oh, finally! stars for CALLING ME BACK.

Tracey’s Review

This second book in the What the Lightning Sees trilogy picks up immediately following the action in Part 1.

Now that she and Jake are no longer together, Haven is doing her best to get back to life as she does it best, focusing on furthering her career and spending time with her brother and best friend. Jake, missing Haven, but unable to get through to her, is prepared to throw himself into his next business venture, one that will take him away from London, and from Haven.

I have been waiting for this book since I read ‘The End’ in the first book in the series. Waiting to see how Louise would bring us back from the ‘Oh, my goodness, she didn’t!’ ending. Waiting to see where Haven and Jake could go from how things left off. Well, Louise is awesome, and has seamlessly crafted a second installment that answers all of my questions. Haven, by her own account, is no good at relationships, having learned early on not to get too attached to people. And Jake, as his sister Beth so eloquently points out, is no pro at commitment. But what is true about both Haven and Jake is that they desperately want each other, and just have no idea as to how to go about it. I loved seeing them work their way back to each other, despite all their quirks and snark, finally ending up where they want to be.

Now, the hardest part: waiting for Part 3 after another doozy of a cliffhanger, one that surpasses the ‘Are you kidding me?!’ ending in Part 1. In the meantime, I can only say again how much I am loving Haven’s and Jake’s story, and give this book 5 sexy, steamy, ‘oh, my gosh, you’re killing me’ stars.

Tracey’s Review

Haven Daniels is all work and no-nonsense, dedicated to proving that she has what it takes to be the next deputy editor at Rallegra, the high end magazine where she works. When Jake ‘Harry’ Harrison arrives on the scene, Haven believes that he is an entitled rich boy, and is less than thrilled to have him on the team. Jake is a self-made man, full-time entrepreneur and part-time photographer. Coming to Rallegra to help an old friend, he is certainly not expecting to meet someone like Haven.

When I heard that Louise Bay was writing a new serial trilogy, I could not have been more excited. As a long-time fan of Louise, I have read and loved her books. What the Lightning Sees: Part One did not disappoint. Haven is quirky and unique; she’s got an offbeat sense of humor, and is almost socially awkward at times. Jake is self-assured and smooth, so it takes a little bit of time for them to appreciate each other. When they do, though, it’s classic Louise Bay sizzle, and it couldn’t be sexier or more entertaining.

Louise’s ability to create great characters, people that you’d really like to spend time with, is a hallmark of her writing. With Haven, Jake, Luke, Ash, and Beth she’s given us a whole new group of friends to enjoy, and I look forward to seeing more of them in the next books. This book does end on a cliffhanger, but this only makes me more eager to get my hands on Part 2. 5 sexy and entertaining, hurry up with the next book stars for What the Lightning Sees: Part One. Get it, read it, fall in love with it. You will not be sorry!

Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She’s tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she’s a magnet for men who don’t deserve her.

Tracey’s Review

Although they’ve agreed to a long-distance relationship, Anna Kirby and Ethan Scott are finding it harder than they’d thought to deal with being separated by 3,000 miles. Having fallen hard and fast for each other, they’re beginning to wonder whether their love will survive the separation. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way, and these two are nothing if not strong-willed…

Oh, yeah, game, set, and match to Louise Bay. If I thought that I could not love Ethan Scott one bit more, well, I was wrong. With NEW YEAR IN MANHATTAN, the third and final installment in the Empire State series, Louise has managed to make me fall in love with these characters all over again. I have so thoroughly enjoyed these books, and could not be happier with this one. Ethan and Anna and their story are delectable; one bit, and I was in for the long haul, unable to stop once I’d begun, until I’d finished each book, and sat waiting impatiently for the next. Their commitment to each other, the absolutely sizzling connection that they have, and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make things work kept me turning the pages, because I was not stopping until I’d finished. With NEW YEAR IN MANHATTAN, Louise continues to write characters that I would absolutely want to hang out with, conversations that had me laughing, worrying a bit, and fanning myself in turn, and sexy scenes that deliver in all the best ways. While I’m sorry that the series has reached its conclusion, I am so glad that I had the chance to read it. These characters and their story are ones that I will happily revisit, and couldn’t recommend more highly. 5.5 swoony and super-satisfied stars for this one.

Author Bio:

I write sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind I like to read. My books Faithful and Hopeful are stand-alone novels although there are some overlapping characters. The Empire State Series of novellas starts with A Week in New York.

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, I love all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so I’ll settle for books and films.

I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don’t have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

5 starTracey’s Review

Life post-Ethan Scott is less than perfect for Anna Kirby. Their week in New York was supposed to be about just sex, but became much more. Scared by her past failed relationships, Anna has made sure that she wouldn’t be able to prolong her experience with Ethan, and stepped right back into business as usual at home in London, doing her best to forget him.

Headed to London to spearhead the takeover of a rival law firm, all Ethan can think about is that he and Anna will be in the same city once again. He’s been unable to forget her or the way that she made him feel during their week together, and it’s been a game-changer for him. But, in a city of eight million people, with no way to contact her, what are the chances that their paths will cross again?

My first experience of Louise’s writing was her book HOPEFUL, and I have been a fan ever since. I have been waiting for AUTUMN IN LONDON since absolutely devouring A WEEK IN NEW YORK when it came out, and have to admit to being completely enamored by Anna and Ethan. These two characters, with pasts that spell relationship failure, are defying odds all around, capturing each others’ hearts, as well as mine. Watching them figure out that some rules are meant to be broken, and that taking a leap of faith is sometimes all that it takes (well, that and some super-HOT sexy time!) made this second book in the series a wonderful continuation of the story. Louise’s great dialogue and her mastery of the art of the supporting characters (I love the repartee between Ethan and his sister Jessica), are the icing on the cake, making her books all the more enjoyable. Now, the hard part: waiting until January to see how this story plays out. Five-plus stars for this hot, sexy, and romantic read.

A Week in New York_final-1A Week In New York – Book 1

Anna Kirby is sick of dating. She’s tired of heartbreak. Despite being smart, sexy, and funny, she’s a magnet for men who don’t deserve her.

A week’s vacation in New York is the ultimate distraction from her most recent break-up, as well as a great place to meet a stranger and have some summer fun. But to protect her still-bruised heart, fun comes with rules. There will be no sharing stories, no swapping numbers, and no real names. Just one night of uncomplicated fun.

Super-successful serial seducer Ethan Scott has some rules of his own. He doesn’t date, he doesn’t stay the night, and he doesn’t make any promises.

It should be a match made in heaven. But rules are made to be broken.
