I showered and shaved, slathered on my favorite sweet-smelling body lotion, slid into the dress after deciding on a thong and no bra, thanks to the mesh, and curled and teased my hair, giving it body and height that looked kick-ass paired with my outfit.

I also went to town on my makeup job, keeping everything heavy but the kind of heavy that screamed fierce concertgoer and not back alley hooker.

Dark, smoky eyes, false lashes that flared at the ends, and warm cerise lipstick.

I felt pretty. Really pretty.

The kind of pretty a girl had to commemorate with a selfie, and there was only one person in the entire world I wanted to send that selfie to.

I bit my lip while swiping my phone off the bed and pulling up the camera mode.

I was nervous.

Understandably so. This would be the first time Brian was going to see me.

Like ever.

Heavy stuff right there.

I’d thought about sending him pictures before, but got sidetracked with conversation and his sweet as warmed honey voice I wanted to taste, and all thoughts of pictures would slip my mind. Considering he never asked to see a photo of me didn’t help either.

Since he wasn’t bringing it up, I was hardly thinking about it.

But right now, standing in my bedroom with my makeup done up and my hair looking prettier than it had on prom night, sending Brian a picture of me was suddenly all I could think about.

And before I could think or whisper talk myself out of it, I reversed the camera so I could see myself on the screen, held the device out in front of me and off to the right a bit, pursed my stained lips into a kiss, other hand poised at my chin to blow it, and snapped the picture.

Then I attached it to a text and hit Send.

Feeling WILD.

I wanted to put my phone down. Really I did, especially since I had to snap on my studded cuff bracelet and that required use of both hands, furthermore because Tori had given me a fifteen-minute warning close to fifteen minutes ago, but I couldn’t let the damn thing go.

I couldn’t stop looking at it either.

My stomach was clenched. I was biting my fist and pacing the length of the bed, head down and eyes anxiously focused.

But when the little bubbles floated in teasing intervals on my screen and I knew Brian had seen my photo, that’s when the real panic set in.

Would he like how I looked? Would it be how he had imagined and confessed to imagining countless times late at night to me, or better, would my photo exceed the limits of his imagination and paint a more pleasing image in his mind?

Or would he hate it and me for sending it to him, shattering his dreamed-up spank-bank material and ruining every orgasm I ever gave him?

Shit.

Shit!

Which was it and why the hell was he taking so long to type? Didn’t he know this was killing me?

“Hurry up!” I whispered against the screen.

It started ringing in response to my plea, startling me and nearly slipping out of my hand.

Oh, God, he was calling.

J. Daniels has an outstanding start in her new Dirty Deeds series with the release of Four Letter Word. I loved this book!

Sydney Paige suddenly finds herself single again. After being married for several years, she comes home from work only to have her husband declare he is filing for a divorce. She’s shocked numb. That wasn’t in the plan.

Her best friend is also having man troubles. Sydney packs up and moves in with her best friend, who lives on the coast. Rather than taking her anger out on her husband, she jumps to her best friend’s defense and calls her cheating married boyfriend to give him a piece of her mind. After slinging the dirt and using some choice foul names, she realizes that she has dialed the wrong number. The man she is degrading in the worst possible way is not the man she intended to call. Now she has to eat crow and apologize even though he belongs to the despicable male gender.

One wrong number turns into an anonymous friendship through texting and phone calls. They share in depth conversations, troubling crossword puzzles, and silly banter that makes each of their days brighter. They have both had their worlds turned upside down and it’s nice to have a neutral friend.

Friendship starts to lead to feelings that they both know they can’t engage in, They must never cross the line and meet in person.

Fate has a way of stepping in. They are connected in more ways than the phone. Their worlds are colliding. When they finally meet there is no turning back, no matter what secrets are hidden beneath the surface.

I am not going to say much more because this is a book each reader needs to experience for themselves. It was delightful, heartbreaking, and romantic. Sydney and Brian will steal your hearts. Their friends are just as dynamic. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the Dirty Deeds series by J. Daniels.

When you’re father is the president of the United States, people expect you to behave a certain way. Like, maybe not breaking into a lab to free test animals. Or spending all your free time helping at an animal shelter. Or walking around building sites in jeans, sassy tee-shirts, and mud. But Madeleine McGuire isn’t the typical First Daughter. She knows how to play the political game, and does it grudgingly, all while being her off-beat, big-hearted self.

Jake Simmon knows how to play the game, too. When your mother is the current VP, with sights set on becoming the next president, you have to walk the walk. As a wounded warrior, Jake is happy to give back to other veterans, but what he wasn’t counting on was Maddie. Frenemies for as long as they can remember, Jake and Maddie have an edgy sort of relationship. Except, suddenly Jake is looking at Maddie with new eyes, and Maddie is seeing him in a different way, too, and, well, chemistry.

BEDMATES by author Nichole Chase is a sweet, heartwarming, and, yes, sexy read. Although I tend to steer clear of the NA trope these days, there is something refreshing about this one. Maddie is a bit of a wild child, having inherited her free spirit from her mom. Although she tries to toe the line, well, life happens. When Maddie and Jake are forced to work together to promote a housing program for veterans, they have to make nice for the cameras, and, soon enough, find that they’re interested in spending more than just air time together.

Nichole has managed to capture the tenor of a life lived in the public eye, and what it must be like to always have to be ‘on.’ At the same time, she’s written Jake, Maddie, their famous families, and the people that make Washington, D.C., what it is, in a way that makes them more likable and approachable.

I really enjoyed that the storyline involves current events, things that will resonate with many different types of people. The animal rights issues, the wounded warrior issues, the political games, all add up to make a book that I liked very much. I would happily recommend BEDMATES, and rate it 4 stars’ worth of love, laughter, and steaminess, with the added bonus of political celebrity thrown into the mix. Definitely a nice addition to your TBR.

I organised my things and opened my laptop, pulling up the morning’s lesson plan when I heard the friendly chatter quieten down. Glancing up, I saw our new student had arrived, and I had to take a second to catch my breath.

Stuart Cross looked dangerous, in a James Dean, careless male beauty, leather jacket-wearing sort of way. He was tall, with chestnut-brown hair, hazel eyes and dark, expressive brows. He looked like he drank beer straight out of the bottle and drove a motorbike.

Mary placed a hand on her hip and smirked as she looked him up and down in a very ‘I’ve got your number, sonny Jim’ sort of fashion. I imagined she’d eat him for breakfast if he even gave her so much as a hint he was interested in becoming her boy toy.

And I, well, I couldn’t seem to take my eyes off him either. He was just so unexpected. It was like entering Alfie’s bedroom and discovering a newly finished painting. He seemed too much for our ordinary, comfortable little classroom.

He made eye contact with me just as he pulled out a chair in the third row and sat, a whoosh of air capturing my lungs. I rubbed my palms on my skirt and leaned forward, about to introduce myself when a student approached him. It was Harold, a small, bespectacled man in his early fifties, who liked everything to be done just so. In other words, he was set in his ways, and Stuart was currently occupying his usual seat.

“Pardon me, but I sit there,” he said, tapping Stuart on the shoulder.

Stuart rested an elbow on the desk, and slowly turned to look at him. “You what?”

Harold cleared his throat. “This is where I sit. I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to move.”

Stuart let out a quiet chuckle, shook his head and leaned back to spread his legs. “I don’t think so. I’ve just gotten comfortable, mate.”

I frowned and rose from my seat. Making my way past the desks, I felt the others watching as I approached our new student. I stopped just in front of him, briefly placed a reassuring hand on Harold’s shoulder and leveled Stuart with a strict look.

“We actually have a set seating plan. Come with me and I’ll show you where you can sit.

I’m Miss Anderson, by the way. Your teacher.”

Stuart took his time raising his eyes to mine, slicing his teeth across his full bottom lip for a second as he contemplated me. I rested my hands on my hips, trying not to fixate on his mouth as I felt a tiny flicker in some long-neglected part of my body.

“All right then, Miss Anderson. I wouldn’t want to cause a fuss,” said Stuart, standing to his full height and allowing Harold to take his seat. His attitude rubbed me the wrong way, but nevertheless, I led him to the only free seat in the front row. He stepped forward, his chest brushing mine before he sat. I caught my breath for a second; the contact took me by surprise.

In fact, it almost felt like he’d done it on purpose.

Yep, I was definitely going to have to keep an eye on this one.

Author L. H. Cosway is now releasing the fifth book of the Hearts series. I’ve read and reviewed each book to date – Six of Hearts, Hearts of Fire, King of Hearts, and Hearts of Blue – all have Cosway’s unique, artistic flare that stands out in a sea of contemporary romance. Each novel of the Hearts series is loosely related to a previous novel in the series, but all can be read as standalones. This time, Cosway focuses on Stuart Cross, brother to Hearts of Blue male lead Lee Cross and the oldest of the Cross brothers.

Andrea Anderson teaches adults who are seeking to return to college, helping them brush up on reading, writing, and other necessary skills prior to applying to a university. A widow at the age of 28, Andrea has had little interest in men since her husband passed away, but when Stuart Cross enters her classroom, she’s momentarily stunned. He’s tall and handsome with a dangerous edge. Stu appears to be exactly what he is – a criminal, just released from prison, who’s attending her class as a requirement of his parole. So when Stu begins flirting with Andrea, she’s flustered. And when he’s coming on to her hard, she rightfully feels skeptical.

Early in this novel, I struggled with the developing relationship between Stu and Andrea. Thief of Hearts is written from Andrea’s point of view, and for me, the attraction she felt for Stu wasn’t exactly jumping off of the pages. Having read Hearts of Blue, I was familiar with Stu’s background before I began reading. His gestures towards Andrea didn’t feel organic, and even when she began warming up to Stu, Andrea was still hesitant to give him her full heart.

But then we have the second half of this story; in my opinion, this is where the strength of this story lies. Cosway throws in a couple of interesting plot twists – the kind that had me sitting up at attention! Suddenly, Thief of Hearts became MUCH more interesting to me. The story became gritty, emotional, and this is where Andrea and Stu began experiencing all kinds of character growth. Growing closer under circumstances that weren’t ideal, Stu and Andrea developed real, deep feelings for each other. Now here is the magic I was expecting! The second half of Thief of Hearts REALLY packs a punch!

Thief of Hearts is a strong novel. It’s well-written, and as usual, Cosway’s writing flows nicely. I enjoyed the primary and secondary characters in this story. The Cross brothers were already on my radar from when I read Hearts of Blue, so I was pleased to read more about Lee and Karla, their family unit and to finally learn more about Stuart Cross. The plot of Thief of Hearts is unique, and it obviously required some thought and creativity to develop. Reading about the heist was very entertaining.

As I neared the climax of the novel, the author really pulled on my emotional strings. I felt empathy for Stu and Andrea as they struggled to cope with their mixed-up feelings. I just LOVE the way L. H. Cosway chose to resolve the story for these characters. I feel like I read two novels instead of one, which was a pleasant surprise! The strong second half of Stu and Andrea’s story increased my overall rating of Thief of Hearts to 4.5 stars!

Tracey’s Review

Six words. Just six little words. That’s all that it takes for Honey Carmichael to convince Blake Dempsey to help her with her little problem. Six words, one night, then done. No re-dos, no regrets. Or so they think…

I have never read a book by Marie Force that I did not love. I mean, her books are all typically 5-star reads for me. So I’m a little bit sad to have say that her latest, SEX MACHINE, was just not my favorite book of hers.

I didn’t dislike the characters or the story per se, but I just never reached the point that I usually do with Marie’s books where everything just clicks. Don’t get me wrong, Blake’s past was certainly enough to mess anyone up, but I got a little bit impatient with his inability to move on, and his tendency to relegate everything to the physical. The relationship that develops between him and Honey is much more than that, and that he can so easily waffle when things get tough irked me. Part of the problem, I think, is that I’m used to seeing Marie write characters that are a little bit more mature, and ones that approach difficulties with a desire to work through them, rather then just throw up their hands and give up.

So, while I love Marie, and will continue to read any and everything that she writes, I have to say that this book just did not resonate with me the way that I had hoped and expected. And although I am giving SEX MACHINE 3.5 stars, I look forward to Marie’s next books, because she rocks.

If wealth doesn’t attract her, I hope I’m not shit out of luck when it comes to getting an invitation up to her room.

Apparently, I’m transparent because she asks, “Not impressed?”

“Quite the opposite. I’m worried you won’t have a reason to be impressed with me.” Now I’m the one who can’t believe how honest I’m being.

“It’s a valid worry,” she says after a beat, and I can’t tell if she’s teasing or being blunt. Can’t tell if I should prepare for gut-wrenching disappointment or dive into another round of sexy banter.

I concentrate on my driving instead, speeding up before slipping expertly into a tight opening in the adjacent lane.

I’ll admit I’m showing off.

“Smashing,” she says with a tone that vibrates through my body like I’m a tuning fork.

Then, abruptly, she laughs, and I turn my head toward her, alarmed at the source of her amusement.

“I still can’t believe you drive a Bugatti in the city. I can’t decide if that makes you brilliant or as mad as a bag of ferrets.”

“Brilliant, of course.” Though, with her so close, I feel more like I’m going crazy. “What can I say? I like things that are fast.”

“Of course you do.”

“You don’t?” I raise a questioning brow. “Maybe you don’t understand how awesome fast can be.” I put my foot on the gas and race down the next block to prove my point.

The traffic light turns red as I approach the intersection, and I ease the brakes. “See? Fast is fun.”

“The problem with fast is it’s over too quickly.”

Is that innuendo? Her gaze pierces into me, and the air around us feels tight and charged, and I’m suddenly certain that I will die if I don’t get to taste her tonight.

Even if she didn’t mean anything more when she made her statement, I certainly do when I say, “Don’t worry. I know when to take my time.”

She exhales, slowly, and I swear I can feel it. As though she’s already in my arms and her breath is grazing every inch of my bare skin. No matter what happens after this, I know she at least feels this…this attraction. Or whatever it is.

Her voice is low and sultry when she replies. “You’re not talking about cars anymore. But do you really take your time? I’d guess you bolt the minute you’re finished.” She’s so blunt, so direct, and I don’t know if it’s a her thing or an English thing, but I like it.

I also like this conversation we’re having. Because we’re drawing the lines, and that means the potential for tonight is high. So I answer with a nod, making sure she understands that she’s correct in thinking I’ll bolt. Because I will.

***5 swoony, steamy, laugh-out-loud stars***

Well, if you’re wondering whether author Laurelin Paige could possibly give us another Pierce brother that we would love as much as Hudson, the answer is a resounding YES! Chandler Pierce is sexy, self-confident, and full of swagger, and he stole my heart from the very first page.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book by Laurelin Paige, but when I saw that CHANDLER was next on her list, I couldn’t say yes quickly enough. First off, I love all of her books, and, secondly, he’s a Pierce. Yep, of that Pierce family, so you know that things are going to be interesting. Well, let me just say, she has nailed it with this book, and written a character and a story that I couldn’t get enough of.

Chandler Pierce has never wanted for anything. His siblings call him spoiled, but, hey, he knows what he wants, and he goes for it. Never having wanted for attention from the fairer sex, Chandler is a little bit thrown for a loop when he meets Genevieve Fasbender. Chandler is captivated from their first encounter, but, Genevieve, eh, not so much, even going so far as to let him know that, despite their steamy night together, well, she’s just not that into him. Chandler knows, though, he just knows that he can change her mind, and so it begins.

I love absolutely everything about this book. Chandler is full of himself, but also unsure at times, which endeared him to me no end. He’s pretty straightforward, and his inner dialogue had me cracking up. Sexy and funny, how can that not be a winner? And Genevieve, or Genny, as Chandler calls her, is a perfect match for Chandler, because she puts him through all of the paces, and awakens a side of him that he never knew existed. Did I say hot? Yep…

Once I picked up this book, I could not put it down. It was a speed read for me because I loved it that much. And, while CHANDLER has plenty (hint: that means a LOT) of sexy time, what I really enjoyed was the dynamic between Chandler and Genny. Watching a ladies’ man with no interest in a relationship meet his match is one of my favorites, and that it is done with such humor and affection makes CHANDLER one of my favorite reads of 2016. And, bonus, we get to visit with the one and only Hudson Pierce and his family, including his daughter Mina, who steals several scenes, as well Chandler’s heart. Although the characters from the earlier books are part of this one, CHANDLER can easily be read as a standalone. Whether you’re a long-time fan of new to Laurelin’s books, you’ll want to get started on this one ASAP.

A smile played on his lips. Finally making her his in the physical sense surpassed his wildest dreams. She was simply perfect for him. So responsive and sensual. Shy, yet not so much that she didn’t let him know what she wanted. He always knew it would be good with her, he just wasn’t prepared to be blown out of his damned mind. And he knew it was because his emotions were already involved.

Fuck. He’d nearly blurted what was in his heart. Good thing he’d caught himself. Though he knew he was falling in love with her, he hadn’t said those words to anyone since his ex-fiancée all those years ago. He wanted to be sure it was the lasting kind of love this time and not some infatuation or heat-of-the-moment words driven by his dick. Besides, Cassie was annoyingly skittish when it came to discussing their relationship. She hated labels, and he thought he was cracking through her damned armor and then yesterday happened.

His attention circled back to the bubbling batter as he flipped the pancakes. Though Cassie was surrounded by complex situations, he was finding out his woman had simple needs. For example: food. He relished watching her eat, though he was worried she was eating too much diner food. Thankfully, Millie seemed concerned with the twin’s health and would occasionally shove some less greasy fare their way. “Hmm…pancakes and sausage.” Arms circled his torso as soft breasts pressed against his back. His cock jerked happily as if Trent had not worn that fucker out.

He covered the linked fingers on his abs with his free hand and craned his neck slightly to kiss the top of Cassie’s head. “These will be ready in a sec. Why don’t you set the table? Plates are in the last cabinet to my right, utensils in the drawer right below it.”

Trent hated to lose her touch but was also relieved in a way. Cassie was affecting him too much. A little distance would help if there was a prayer of ever getting breakfast on the table. As much as he wanted to drop her delectable ass on the counter and eat her pussy for breakfast, they had things to clear up. Fucking each other’s brains out as a means to block out the problems surrounding them was not an option if he wanted a fighting chance at making their relationship work. No more secrets.

Zelda Wilder has made a mistake. She knows better than to let anything get in the way of her con, but he did. McCallum Lockwood Tate slipped right through her defenses, and now Zelda is not only running from the people that want her dead, she’s running from her feelings for Cal.

Every single interaction between Zelda and Cal is sizzling. Cal knows now what Zee is all about, and, although he’s angry that she played him, stole his heart, and ran, he can’t stay away. Zelda is torn, knowing that she and Cal are completely wrong for each other, but unable to forget him. I love the interactions between the two of them, and watching them fall, in typical Tia Louise fashion, when they know that they shouldn’t.

The action in A PLAYER FOR A PRINCESS flows right from the ending of THE PRINCE AND THE PLAYER, so reading them in order is a great idea. 4.5 hot, suspenseful, uber-sexy stars for this one. They will grab you and suck you in, and, before you know it, you’ll have fallen love with Tia all over again.

“I’m sorry, Noelle. I’m really sorry.” I don’t know what I’m apologizing for. The fact that I don’t believe her weak lie or because I kissed her. No. I’m not sorry for either.

“It’s okay. Really. Thanks for caring. And thank you for my birthday gift.” She pauses and brushes her pinkie finger against mine. “You made my birthday really special, and I’ll never forget it.”

Without thinking, I loop my pinkie finger around hers, linking them together. Linking us together. We walk to her window like this and I break our connection reluctantly, bringing my hand up to her bruised cheek. “Please be careful,” I beg, and I’m not sure what I’m even begging her to be careful of. I’m just so worried about her.

“I will,” she whispers. “Catch a couple fireflies on the way home.”

Author Trudy Stiles has outshined all of her previous novels with her newly released story titled Epic Love! Epic Love is the third novel of the Epic Fail series, a series of new adult novels written about each member of the wildly popular rock band Epic Fail. This time, Stiles writes about lead singer Heath Strickland and his first love, Noelle Durand, in a novel that CAN be read as a standalone. Epic Fail is an incredibly sweet, second-chance romance that begins with two children who bond over a game of Wiffle Ball.

When the Durand family moves into the estate next door, Heath has no idea what Noelle will come to mean to him. To everyone on the outside, Noelle seems to have a perfect life, but it doesn’t take long for Heath to figure out something bad is going on with his new best friend. Over time, their close friendship evolves into something more special, and Heath realizes he would give up everything he owns to protect Noelle – to bring her happiness and keep her safe. One day, Noelle just vanishes, and although she is presumed dead, Heath never gives up hope that she will someday resurface.

Epic Love is written in a fashion that is typical for Trudy Stiles. The author narrates her story from the first person perspective of both Heath and Noelle, while also alternating between past and present chapters. Stiles cleverly arranged the novel content, commingling storyline from past and present with perfect precision. The first half of Epic Love has a greater focus on the past, as a friends-to-lovers relationship develops between our main characters during their teenage years. Then, after a 12-year separation, I really enjoyed how our characters become reacquainted in the latter half of the novel!

I experienced a wide range of emotions while reading Epic Love. Anger. Confusion. Heartbreak. Sadness. Hope. Relief. Happiness. Some chapters had me smiling with joy, others left me feeling distress for the characters. I think the reason I felt so much is that I truly cared about these characters. I love reading young adult novels, and although Epic Love is definitely not a YA novel, a portion of the story is about Heath and Noelle during their late childhood and teenage years. Young adults just feel so deeply, and with her writing, Stiles expressed their young emotions perfectly.

I’ve followed Stiles’ writing career from the beginning, and she doesn’t hesitate to write about controversial topics. Although I don’t want to give away spoilers, I do think it’s important to warn readers that there are some very dark, abusive scenes in Epic Love. That being said, I think these scenes were very well written. I felt anxiety and horror while reading them. In fact, as an objective reader, I believe that I felt everything Stiles wanted her readers to feel. Throughout the story, I thought the writing flowed beautifully, and I enjoyed the uniqueness of Stiles’ plot.

Overall, Epic Love is just a beautiful story of love and healing. If you have never had a chance to read a novel written by Trudy Stiles, I highly recommend you consider picking up a copy of Epic Love! I’m including this 5-star novel as one of my 2016 favorites!

I laughed under my breath and banged the back of my head against the wood. “Praying?”

“Can I come in?”

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are the Dream Team of the Romance World. This dynamic duo has written another highly entertaining and emotional book that left me with goosebumps. Their characters are fun, dynamic people with personalities larger than life. Each book is original with different situations leading the characters down the happily ever after road.

Captain Carter Clynes and Kendall Sparks are on different paths in life when their paths cross in an airport bar. Carter is a pilot for an international airlines. He’s rarely in the same country more than a few days. His globe trotting career is ideal for a guy who never wanted to settle down.

Kendall Sparks is facing a life decision. Rather than facing the decision she decides to run away and give herself some time. When she meets a sexy pilot that convinces her she should head to Brazil, it seems like a good reprieve from her life.

A few fun days in Brazil leads to a scary adventure in Dubai to a erotic adventure in Amsterdam. From there these two head to Boca Raton, Florida and find another adventure within a retirement community. Along their fun filled journey they are finding something neither were looking for. They find love. First they have to deal with their real lives and the reasons they are taking to the sky.

Carter has been running from his past. He has some skeletons in his closet that have influenced the way he is today. His playboy ways have also caught up with him in a monumental way.

Kendall has to choose her future. She can continue to be a rich and privileged woman as long as she pays the price that is demanded of her by her family. She doesn’t think she is brave enough to walk away from the money, but she also isn’t brave enough to give into the demands made by her family.

Both Carter and Kendall will find out what truly matters in life. The answer is in the sky.

There are some cameo appearances by our favorite Aussie and the beloved Pixy. It makes a very entertaining moment in the monotony of the lines at the airport.

The Playboy Pilot was a fun globetrotting adventure that led Carter and Kendall home. A home full of love and happiness.

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward were the perfect creators for this adventure in the sky.
