It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Vi Keeland’s books. I have loved every book I have read by her. Her latest release, Throb, has left the same kind of impression on me. It is a fresh, creative, and steamy. I was captivated by the plot and the characters.

Two brothers, two sibling rivalries, one hot rock star, several woman competing for the same man, and one woman that has all of these men’s attention. What do you have? One hot mess or a train wreck waiting to happen. Actually you have a tv reality show.

Rules will be broken. Brothers will betray each other. One brother is the most powerful man in Hollywood. The other brother is vying to be the king of tv reality shows. One rock star can have his choice of any woman he wants but wants the one he can’t have. Several women want to claw this woman’s eyes out. The one woman wants to get through the game and win. She needs the prize money.

Can she win this game and come out winner? Or will she come out shredded.

There are many players in this game. There can only be one winner. Or are the rules of the game going to change once again.

I absolutely loved this book. I was mesmerized from page one to the very end. The excitement, the pacing, the competition, and outcome was not clear until the very end. Not only did the reader get to experience tv reality behind the scenes, the reader got to watch a love bloom off the set and away from the camera’s.

I highly recommend Throb by Vi Keeland. It will not disappoint.

“Look at me, Elle,” he says, using the deliciously low demanding voice that once made my toes curl and my eyes roll back, and I have no choice but to tilt my head to give him my attention. “Forget those lame guys you’re dating.

My heart, if possible, spikes further in my chest, overriding all warning of the impending chaos that’s sure to come. I try turning my attention to the poster hanging beside me, but the kissing couple makes me look back at him and the deep green eyes that are burning into mine. My stomach does a flip-flop, the way it always does when he looks at me that way and I try to take my hands back because these feelings are too scary for me to deal with right now, but he holds them tighter, bringing them up to his mouth and kissing the tip of my ring finger. Why did he pick that finger to kiss? I pull harder and he finally lets my hand drop.

“I can’t,” I say, my voice coming out hoarse.

A myriad of emotions flash in his eyes before they settle on determination and I’m forced to take a step back, away from his scent, away from his warmth, and into the cold closet behind me.

“Why not?”

I sigh, finally looking away, back down to his naked feet. “I just can’t.” He knows why not. He shouldn’t ask me that question. “What’s Vic doing, anyway?”

His body moves into mine so quickly that I don’t have time to react to his large hands clutching my arms or his face dropping until we’re nose to nose. I just stare, wide eyed, waiting for his lips to fall over mine, but they don’t. He just looks at me, breathes on me, lets me breathe on him, and he groans. And that fucking groan travels from his body into mine and crawls into the core of me, draping over every fiber inside of me.

“What do you want, Oliver?” I whisper against his lips. “What do you want from me? You want to kiss me? You want to fuck me? You want to come into my life like the hurricane that you are and tear down everything I’ve rebuilt and disappear just as quickly?”

His lips brush slightly against mine, just a breath of a touch as he stands there, crowding me like he’s about to devour me. But he won’t. He never goes in for the kill. He just lures me, casts me, reels me in and pulls away. His hands drop and his face leaves mine with the same quickness and I feel a pang deep inside me that I wish wasn’t there.

“I’m sorry,” he says quietly, shaking his head in a movement that makes his hair sway back and forth. His eyes are soft on mine now and I can almost hear his thoughts: I should have never kissed her. I should have never—

My brows rise in surprise at the apology, though. There are so many things I can say to him, but the sudden defeated look in his eyes keeps my mouth shut. Finally, I exhale and push off the wall, standing in front of him, with enough distance between us that we can’t reach out and touch each other.

“It’s okay just… don’t do it again. The kiss the other day was a mistake…” I stop talking and walk past him, putting my bra away and sorting through my underwear drawer like it has some sort of hidden treasure or something. This time when I feel him come up behind me, I drop my head and exhale. He really needs to stop sneaking up behind me.

“Oli—“ I start and gasp when I feel his lips on the back of my neck, soft and warm. My heart thunders and my hands begin to shake inside the drawer so I close my eyes and focus on breathing. He drops another kiss right beside that spot. I never knew the back of my neck was so sensitive. The feeling sends a ripple of sensation down my arms and through my body.

“It wasn’t a mistake,” he says in a husky whisper that makes my flesh break out in goose bumps. “You’ve never been a mistake. You want me to tell your brother that I want to take you out? Is that what it would take?”

Don’t Deny Me Serial- a novel split in three parts by Megan Hart is one of those serials you don’t want to miss. It is a story of uninhibited passion, emotional depth, honest insights into the human psyche, and the perfect portrayal of what the true meaning of love is.

I have read all three parts to the Don’t Deny Me serial and can honestly say it was quite an emotional reading experience. Megan Hart has a true gift of creating characters that are very real and easy for the reader to relate to. Her writing is flawless and flows with a very effortless smooth transition in each passage. She has the gift of digging deep into the minds and emotions of her characters and presents their whole persona to the readers without causing the reader to instant love or hate them. She gives them a natural balance that all readers can understand and grasp.

Megan Hart is a pioneer author in angsty, emotional, and extremely erotic books. She was giving us the “true grit” , “emotional angst”, and “sinfully steamy romances” long before the 50 Shades of Grey frenzy took readers by storm and made them want more than a fluffy romance. Megan Hart is a superb writer and a master of her craft.

Don’t Deny Me- Part One begins with Alice going for a weekend anniversary party of old time friends. She has not seen her friends in ten years. After her toxic breakup with Mick, she couldn’t bear to be around their old friends or him. She dropped out of their social circles and moved on in her life. She figures that ten years has gone by and she has come to terms with how her life has progressed. She has led a pretty fulfilling and happy life. She has had more than enough time to heal and forgive. She’s ready to reconnect with her old friends once again. A weekend anniversary party is the perfect way to reconnect. She knows that Mick will be attending the party as well. She feels that time has given her maturity, wisdom, self respect, insightfulness, compassion, and the gift of learning how to forgive. This was a very raw and emotional read. Don’t Deny Me – Part Two will be out in one week. There is not a long wait for the next part of Alice and Mick’s story.

There’s fire, and I’m walkin’ through it naked. Angel’s somewhere in the flames, and I’m lookin’ for her. I can feel the flames against my skin but they don’t hurt. Then I see her. She’s screamin’. Burnin’ up. I run to her, and cover her with my body, to protect her. The flames start hurtin’ now. I can feel my flesh getting’ hot. I can feel my skin begin to peel, I scream in pain…

“Hey, you ok?”

I wake up feelin’ like I just slammed into a fuckin’ wall. My body’s hot, my blood pumpin’.

Angel puts a cool hand against my face, and it feels good against my hot, sweaty skin.

I look at her. Seein’ her face next to me calms me down a little, makes me feel a little fuckin’ cooler, but I feel a whole new sense of frustration and edginess lookin’ at her.

“I need a drink,” I say, getting’ out of bed and walkin’ to the kitchen. I feel like somethin’ is pullin’ at me. A naggin’ feelin’ in my gut that somethin’ needs to be done. Soon.

I turn on the tap and put my head under it, gulpin’ down water into my dry throat. I splash some on my face. Angel walks into the kitchen.

“Coffee?” she asks. I nod.

I can’t be near her. I can’t look at her. I go to the bathroom, lock the door, and sit on the toilet, my head in my hands. Today. I have to do somethin’ today.

“Coffee’s done,” Angel calls from the other side of the bathroom door. I realize I’ve been sittin’ in there for a full ten minutes, just losin’ my mind, barely able to think. I have to get my shit together. Maybe coffee will help.

I join Angel in the room. There’s a little table by the window, and Angel has the cups there. She’s opened the shutters. I sit opposite her, lookin’ out of them, avoidin’ those eyes…

“Is there something…” Angel trails off. Maybe she sees the fire burnin’ inside me, the ragin’ fuckin’ forces that are beatin’ the shit out of each other, with me in the middle. I gulp my coffee.

“I feel a lot better,” Angel says.

I turn away from the window to look at her.

“Am I supposed to care?”

“I just thought–”

“You thought wrong, bitch. You don’t think at all when you’re with me, ok?”

Angel stiffens and looks at me, her eyes wide.

“O-ok.”

“Good,” I say. The frustration is fillin’ up in me, burstin’ to get out, and she’s close enough to feel it.

I can’t let myself get close to her. I can’t let her inside. She’s already under my skin. Makin’ me feel things I don’t wanna feel, think things that I don’t wanna be thinkin’.

I want to begin by expressing my appreciation for the opportunity to review an advanced reader copy of Never Never on behalf of Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews.

Colleen Hoover recently shared on a blog post how a writing partnership was formed between herself and Tarryn Fisher. Colleen began by explaining she had an idea she had been considering for a novel. She shared her idea with Tarryn. Tarryn loved the idea and encouraged Colleen to begin writing the story. Colleen remained busy with other commitments, so Tarryn decided to write a first chapter and email it to Colleen. Colleen enjoyed reading the chapter so much that she decided to write a second chapter and sent it back to Tarryn. New chapters continued to be written. They were enjoying themselves. All I can say is thank goodness they decided to publish this story!

This review will not contain spoilers beyond what the authors have previously chosen to share. But I will share a glimpse of how this special story begins. Imagine you suddenly become aware of your surroundings. You remember nothing of the moment before. You don’t know your name or what you look like or where you are. You have no recollection of your past. Silas Nash and Charlie Wynwood both experience this in Never Never. It doesn’t take long for Silas and Charlie to meet and realize they are both in the same predicament. Why did this happen to them? How do they remember? And what do they mean to each other?

Here are some details I feel comfortable sharing about this story. The events of Never Never take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our main characters are in high school. The chapters for the male protagonist, Silas Nash, are written by Colleen Hoover. The chapters for the female protagonist, Charlie Wynwood, are written by Tarryn Fisher. It’s young adult fiction. It’s a drama full of mystery and intrigue, where every answer they uncover leads to more questions. It’s thrilling. Romantic. There is even a paranormal aspect to this story, although I haven’t quite figured that part out. That’s because the story is not quite finished. Colleen confirmed there is more of the story to be written on her recent blog post.

Even though this novel has been written by two authors, I feel the story flowed seamlessly. Any differences in writing style felt completely natural to me. After all, Silas and Charlie have different personalities. I immediately felt an affinity for Silas and Charlie. I guess you could say that I fell in love with these characters. I’m pretty sure I feel this way because Silas and Charlie bear a distinct resemblance to two of my favorite fictional characters. And Charlie also reminds me of one of my favorite authors.

I love mystery mixed with my romance. I love piecing together puzzles. But this novel left me reeling! I was wide awake into the night considering all of the possibilities for this story. What could possibly be happening to Silas and Charlie? What clues have I missed? I promise that I have lost sleep over this novel, and I could probably discuss theories for days!

Parts of this story are seriously funny! I laughed out loud on many occasions, and I’m pretty sure I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading Never Never. I found myself on a collision course with the last page of the novel. I devoured each page with gusto. It’s like Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover wrote the perfect novel for me. They have me hoping for a fairytale outcome for Silas and Charlie. The sequel to Never Never has become my most anticipated novel for this year. Congratulations go out to Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher for this epic 6-star novel!

Bradan had no idea what he was doing there. He had no time for volunteering and he wasn’t really all that much into animals except the ones that ended up in his kitchen. Although he was always deeply respectful of the sacrifice those animals had made. But he had to admit the pets all did have a certain appeal, and so did the sexy blonde who was showing him around.

Today she wore a tiny gray T-shirt, jeans that were rolled up in a deep cuff above her delicate ankles and pink Converse. Those pink Converse fascinated him, for some reason. She definitely had her own unique style. She’d tried to tame that wild mane of blonde waves in some kind of bun thing, but strands kept sliding out and hanging in her face. It was sexy as hell. As was her ass, when she turned to lead him down the hall.

“We’ll go do some laundry,” she said. “Sorry, it’s not the sexiest task here.”

“What’s sexier than laundry?” he asked dryly.

She laughed. “Most people who volunteer want to work directly with the animals, but there’s so much else that needs to be done, too. These things are just as important.”

“How long have you been volunteering here?”

“A couple of years. I love animals and I wish I could have a pet but I’m not allowed pets in my apartment building…well…” Her voice lowered conspiratorially. “I actually have a secret pet. Don’t tell anyone.”

He watched her with amusement. “What kind of secret pet?”

“A rat.”

“A…rat?” His hands paused, full of towels he was removing from the dryer.

“Yes. His name is Amos.”

“A rat.”

She nodded. “Yes. He’s very gentle and affectionate. He loves being with people.”

He arched an eyebrow. “You’re bullshitting me, aren’t you?”

“No!” Her eyes widened. “I’m serious! Rats make great pets. They’re very domesticated. Amos is super sweet.”

“Fuck me.” He shook his head. As a chef, a rat was absofuckinglutely the last animal he ever wanted to see. “This I gotta see.” The words came out of his mouth with honest innocence—he really did want to see Amos the rat and to see Mirelle with him. But she immediately got all cool and closed up again. He sighed, carrying the laundry over to a table to fluff and fold it.

When she forgot herself, she was sweet and funny, her upbeat personality and easy smile so sexy and appealing. When she remembered who he was, she got all tight and serious and rigid. Damn. He tried to focus on what she was showing him and telling him.

“I’ll show you where to put the towels.”

When he eventually pulled out his cell phone to check the time, he cursed inside. He had to get back to the restaurant. He’d been missing in action too many nights this past week with Paco picking up the slack, but dammit, he didn’t want to leave.

“I have to go,” he said regretfully.

“Yeah, I’m about to leave, too.”

“D’you need a ride home?”

“No, I have my car. I just have to say goodbye to Monty.”

He watched her find the dog he’d seen her with when he’d arrived, crouching down to hug him, letting him lick her chin. Monty gazed up at her adoringly and she rubbed him with such a fierce look of affection on her face, Bradan’s heart turned over.

Damn. He wasn’t into dog kisses, but he found himself wishing she was holding him that tightly, looking at him with such profound love, letting him lick her all over. When she straightened, the emotion on her face had his heart squeezing. She was really sad to be leaving the dog. He recognized the deep sensitivity in her but she smiled at him with determined cheer as she grabbed a hooded sweatshirt and her purse from a locker. Today her bright-colored purse appeared to be constructed of…Kool-Aid packages. Whoa.

“We could get a cup of coffee,” he said, following her out.

She turned and looked at him. “You said you had to go.”

“I…yeah.” Jesus! This was not how things went for him with women! He rubbed his face. He had to get a grip here or risk making a fool of himself over her.

About a year ago, I lost my virginity to Evan, but standing here, watching Ryler sign sex while sucking on his lip ring, makes me feel like a virgin again.

“Oh,” is all I manage to get out of my mouth.

I only breathe normally again when he releases the metal from his teeth and drops his cigarette to the ground.

“So, about the party.” He gestures at the door. “Do you want to come in for a while? They’re playing cards and there are drinks and snacks and stuff. Plus, your papers are in there.” His lips quirk to a half grin and my stomach somersaults.
