About the ELEMENTS OF FIVE series

One thousand years ago, there was one realm of magic. The Maison Realm. It held five kingdoms with five kings or queens, who worked together to keep the Maison people safe and ensure the balance of magic. Over the last five hundred years following the Fall, the great war that began the fracture, many of the kingdoms’ inhabitants intermated, and the magics soon became tied to one another in pairs. Except for the Spirit Wielders. The two remaining kingdoms are now converging, and the veil between the two is fading. Only the human realm lies between the two, and no one there knows there is a war surrounding them.

Over time, certain children of the Fall began to leave their respective kingdoms to venture into the human realm in search of the prophesied Spirit Priestess who is said to wield the Elements of Five and bring the two fractured kingdoms together. New adult paranormal romantic suspense. A mouthful, but it nicely sums up RISE, the first book in the Spelldrift: Coven of Fire series by author Sierra Cross. I am a big fan of the paranormal genre, especially if it has some contemporary romance and suspense thrown in, so this read was really right up my alley.

Sierra has created a world that exists right here in our own, a side, or underside, of Seattle that few but the magical can see. Although from a magical bloodline herself, Alix has always operated under the assumption that she just doesn’t have it, the spark, the power that made her mother such a strong witch. But Alix, along with her hunky Guardian Matt, are in for some major surprises, and they start coming more quickly than either one is expecting.

I like Alix. Even before her gifts become more evident, she’s a strong, kick-butt sort of woman. She’s been just fine taking care of herself, so it’s a bit of a challenge to accept Matt’s new role in her life. But their chemistry is right on, and they make a good team, taking on the task of ensuring that the good people of Seattle will continue thrive, unaware and unharmed by the evil that surrounds them.

The backstory is well-developed, and Sierra has done a fine job of blending the real and the mystical so that this story is entertaining and engrossing enough to make me want to read more. RISE is a solid 4-star read for me, and I am very much looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Fans of new adult romance with less angst and a solid paranormal bent will enjoy RISE, should definitely have it on their TBRs.

Intelligent and Seductive…Urban Fantasy at its Finest.

I was seduced the second I read the first page and could not put this book down until I finished it.

“Zoey.” Dev breathed in my ear, his voice the sweetest of seductions. His hands moved across my skin and despite the fact that we’d made love earlier, I responded to him immediately. Everywhere he touched, my skin seemed to flare to life. “I sincerely apologize. I have treated you poorly.” I smiled because I knew what was coming next. “I disagree, Dev. I was treated incredibly well. At least three times.”

Steal the Day picks up at the end of Steal the Light with Zoey questioning her relationships. She was tricked into a marriage with a vampire who, before he changed, was her whole entire life. She loved Danny, but he was not the same person now. He left her behind with no explanation, or communication, for four months. She moved on with her life during that time, and fell in love with a Faery Prince named Devinshea Quinn. Dev is a stunning sex god (literally) and his mission is to give her ultimate pleasure. She needed a distraction and Dev is a very sensual and pleasurable distraction. Zoey is planning to enter Hell to steal her friend Sarah back from an awful demon that snatched her during their last heist. Sarah was part of Zoey’s team of thieves, and Zoey never left anyone behind.

So, what happens when Zoey’s plan to go to hell, goes to hell, and all hell breaks loose…

Lexi Blake once again writes a story with fascinating characters. Each character sucks you into their world where you can feel their emotions. I cried when it was time for Chad to go, laughed at Dev’s many requests to check off sex in various states and planes, and was left hot at bothered by the sinfully sexy Nex Apparatus. Yes it finally happens for all of you that have read Steal the Light. Steal the Day is much more provocative and sensual then its predecessor, which, has made it my best-loved Urban Fantasy thus far. I am impatiently waiting the arrival of Steal the Moon in January.
