Oh, my goodness, flames. Flames are shooting out of my e-reader, and I’m down for the count. Author Meghan March has proven time and again that she can bring the heat, and she has done an excellent job of it in REAL DIRTY, the first book in her new Real Dirty Duet.

But, wait, there’s more. Because not only are Boone and Ripley hotter than all heck together. The sass, the snark, the sarcasm, the humor, all of the things that Meghan does so well, are here and in fine form, as well, and watching the interactions between the two of them is truly entertaining, as well as downright combustible.

The intensity between Ripley and Boone is off the charts hot, and they have their hands full with each other, because they are both headstrong to the nth degree. This just serves to draw them to each other all the more, because what guy doesn’t want a woman that can swing a Louisville Slugger like a boss? And what strong woman doesn’t want a guy that will lighten her burden and make her feel like a goddess once in a while? See, match made in Heaven…

The groundwork has been laid for one heck of a follow-up in REAL SEXY, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it when it comes out. In the meantime, REAL DIRTY is, without a doubt, one of my most favorite reads recently, and is an easy 5+ stars for me. You’re going to want to meet Ripley and Boone yourselves, so do yourself a favor and snap this one up, like, stat.

On the surface, Dr. Elle McCray has it all together. Professional, successful, she’s happy on her own, not needing the friendships or relationships that would require any real emotional investment. Lane Cannon knows what it’s like to be on the outside, and he knows how to read people. Try as she might to make him feel ‘less than,’ Lane can feel the current running between them, and knows that Elle does, too. Lane’s not about to miss the opportunity to find out what makes her tick, and knows just how to do it.

I read a lot of books by a lot of different authors, and while there are some that hit a home run for me each time, it’s likely that I will enjoy some books more than others. With author Roni Loren, though, I know exactly what I’m going to be getting, and that I will love it, every.single.time. I’ve inhaled everything from Roni’s Loving On the Edge series to her standalone reads, and all of them just blow me away. BY THE HOUR, the second book in her Pleasure Principle series, is no exception.

Having dealt with betrayal at the most intimate level, it’s easy to understand why Elle keeps others at a distance. Her holier-than-thou, I don’t need anyone attitude, though, is like catnip for Lane. Living the life he has, he’s pretty much a master at reading people’s tells, and he knows that there’s much more to Elle than meets the eye. What starts out as a sort of one-upsmanship between the two evolves almost immediately into something much hotter, much more intense, than either one was expecting.

It can be difficult to successfully navigate the line between an uncomfortable versus an intensely charged interaction, but Roni writes sexy, emotional scenes with finesse and an eye to detail that draws me in every single time. Seeing Lane and Elle work through the impediments from their respective pasts to get to a place of trust, and to do so with respect, admiration, and finally, love for each other made this one of the best things I’ve read lately.

If you’re looking for a book that features smart, self-aware characters I highly recommend BY THE HOUR. This is an easy 5-star read for me. I can’t wait to see what’s next in Roni’s world, and suggest that you add any and all of her books to your TBR.

Riley pointed at the plate
between us. “These are my favorite pretzel bites in the city. Try
some.”
I shot him a sharp look.
“Are you just trying to get me in a good mood?” I asked. “I did eat lunch today.”
“Oh yeah?” he
asked, dipping two pretzels in the accompanying sauce. “What did you have?
Based on you yelling at me about noticing your shoes, I’d say it was an iced
venti skinny latte.”
“Almonds,” I
replied. And an iced venti skinny latte but I wasn’t copping to that just yet.
Riley tried to fight a
laugh, and failed. “Almonds?” he repeated.
“Chocolate covered
almonds, yes.” I folded my arms across my chest. “It was an
appropriate amount of calories, fat, protein, and carbs.”
He shook his head and ate
another pretzel. “I don’t want to live in a world where a few
almonds—chocolate or otherwise—are lunch.” He pointed to the plate and
pushed his beer toward me. “Eat. Drink. Please.” 
I glared at the pilsner
and pretzels. I hated being told what to do. Just fucking hated it. But then my
stomach growled—goddamn it—and Riley
shot me a pointed glance.
“People think that a
rumbling stomach is the sign of hunger,” I said, reaching for his glass. I
drained the beer and then selected a pretzel for dipping. “It is not.”
Riley gazed at me, his
expression flat. It gave me a moment to study him while choosing another
pretzel. He was wearing jeans, a tailored shirt with the cuffs rolled up to his
elbows, and a pinstriped vest, and his hair was a wreck. It looked like he’d
been tugging the dark strands in every conceivable direction. His eyes were
rimmed with a bit of red and his lids heavy, as if he’d been rubbing them or
hadn’t gotten much sleep. Perhaps both. There was a small notebook beside his
phone, and a mechanical pencil tucked into the spiral binding.
And he was still more
attractive than I knew how to handle. Even tired and irritable, and ordering me
to eat his pretzels and drink his beer, he was hot as fuck. I bit into another
pretzel and offered him a small smile.
“Would you say the
chip on your shoulder is massive or epic?” he asked. There was no hint of
amusement in his tone, and he was staring at me with more ice than I’d believed
he could muster. It didn’t feel like we were sniping at each other anymore.
“It might be semantics to you but I’m trying to get a feel for what I’m
dealing with here.”
But then one of his big
hands found my leg under the table. He squeezed and rubbed his thumb along the
hollow of my knee, and I started to believe I’d been all wrong about this man.
There was the player and there was the overgrown kid, but there was so much
more than that.

After reading Sex In The Sticks by Sawyer Bennett, I’m ready to pack my bags and head to Alaska, the last frontier in America.  I’m willing to wrestle bears, eat wild game, fish in cold waters to be around real men by the dozens.  So what if I freeze my rear end off and don’t have internet.  There’s plenty of entertainment.  Smoking hot men.  Did I say men by the dozens?  Some sacrifices are worth the effort.

In Sawyer Bennett’s latest release, Sex In The Sticks, the reader gets to experience wilds of Alaska seen through the eyes of a rich New York socialite. Unlike other stories with this kind of theme, Sawyer added her own special flare and created a unique set of circumstances in the plot.  She gave the story a character larger than life.  She gave the readers Valentine French. A woman to be admired because of everything she is rather than everything she should be.  When it comes to Valentine French, expect the unexpected.

Valentine French was tired of dating the metrosexual men in New York City.  They are a dime a dozen.  There is nothing extraordinary about them.  In fact they are extremely ordinary, predictable, and self absorbed.  She’s looking for the kind of man that can be orgasm inducing just by being who he is.  She’s not looking for love or happily ever after, she’s happy and completely comfortable with the life she has built for herself. She’s intensely curious if there are men out there that are different from the norm.  When her cousin suggest a trip to the wilds of Alaska, where men are abundant, Valentine is ready for a new adventure.  She’s going to conduct a social experiment for her blog, Valentine’s Couch,to find out if the untamed men of Alaska are better than the polished men of New York City.

The moment she steps foot in Alaska she quickly realizes she has stepped in unchartered waters.  Rather than tucking tail and running, she embraces everything the wilds of Alaska has to offer.  One of those things is the men.  One man in particular stands out among the pack, Sherriff Logan Burke.  By the time Valentine’s sexual adventure comes to an end, she will know what a true orgasm inducing man is.  Along the way she may get lost in the woods, her dog may almost become bear food, she will have to trade her Prada shoes for sturdy hiking boots, she may get thrown in jail, and compete in the Wild Wilderness Woman contest.  Bring it on, Valentine is ready to take it on.  What she wasn’t ready for was finding love with a real man.  A man who gives his whole heart not only while inducing orgasms but also at every moment of the day. I want to be Valentine French.  I loved everything about this extraordinary woman.  Sawyer created a heroine worthy of admiration.  Her hero isn’t too shabby either, after all he is orgasm inducing.
