The reader gets to experience a part of Jasinda’s beautiful soul in every character. Jasinda not only creates a heartwarming romance, she adds the sensuous chemistry between the characters which burn up the pages and fog the reader’s glasses. Her characters are very easy to identify with and come to life on the pages. Pure JASINDA MAGIC!

Lyre watched Cipher try to get his powers and wings under control for just over twenty-four human hours.

It hadn’t gone well. His wings seemed to have minds of their own and his fallen angel gifts were powerful but unpredictable, like natural disasters spawned by a child’s imagination.

Finally, after he exploded a tree with a superheated stream of blue light and nearly fried himself with the blowback, she called down to him.

“You hungry?” she yelled. “Because I could eat.”

He let out a frustrated shout accompanied by a stomp of his foot, and a crack appeared in the ground under the sole of his boot. A deafening boom and a slow rumble started up, and within seconds the crack lengthened and began to widen as the walls collapsed and chunks of earth tumbled into the fissure.

That couldn’t be good.

“Run!” she shouted

He sprinted toward her, away from the growing gap. And then, suddenly, he spun around and ran toward it.

“Cipher! No!” What the hell was he doing?

She extended her wings, ready to go after him as he leaped across the fissure. He wasn’t going to make it to the other side of the sheer cliff face. Not if his wings wouldn’t work—

His great wings flapped, lifting him easily skyward. He banked and soared in a glorious, elegant arc. A shout of pure joy rang out as he flew toward her, reminding her of the excitement she’d felt the first time she’d tried out her fallen angel wings. Folding her own black leather wings against her shoulders, she watched him come in for a landing, but as he did, one wing went rogue, freezing in a closed position. He clipped a tree and went into an unrecoverable spin before hitting the ground and tumbling to a stop next to her.

She coughed at the resulting cloud of dust. “That was graceful.”

He eyed her from where he lay sprawled in the dirt. “Tell me you got that on video.”

She didn’t want to be charmed, but she laughed anyway. Humor was something she missed since entering Sheoul. No one had a sense of humor here. And those who did seemed to have found it puddled on the floor of a torture chamber.

“No such luck,” she said.

“S’okay. But I’ll bet it would have gone viral.” Wincing, he shoved to his feet and tried to push his left wing into the retraction position. “I don’t get it. I can’t control these things. It’s like they’re fighting me. They don’t feel right.”

They didn’t look right, either. Marred by what seemed to be scars and ragged edges, they weren’t like any newbie wings she’d ever seen.

“Hmm. Maybe they were damaged by the restraints.” She moved around behind him, silently admiring his broad, muscular back. It would look even better with scratch marks from her fingernails after a long, sweaty round of sex.

It’s hard to believe the Demonica Underworld Series is still going strong after eleven years and 21 Books & Novellas. Readers have taken the adventure to the underworld and witnessed the battles between the ruling demonic hierarchy as well as the near end of the world. The Four Horsemen have made their presence known and the Apocalypse almost came to pass. Some of Heaven’s warrior angels and fallen angels are desperately trying to hold the world as we know it together while keeping Satan and his minions at bay. The only positive thing happening within both worlds is the fact that Satan has been imprisoned for over 1000 years in an inter-dimensional prison. There are only three angels who hold the secret key to release him from his prison. Azogoth, the grim reaper, who is in charge of Sheoul-gra is one of those angels. Releasing Satan would be the end of humanity along with the end of the world.

There is a dark sinister plot within the realms of hell and Sheoul-gra to release Satan. Two of Satan’s faithful followers, also fallen angels, are carrying out a plan to bring Azagoth to his knees and force him to surrender the key. They have kidnapped one of his fallen angels to gain access to secret information in order to force Azogoth to surrender to their will.

Cypher is a brilliant fallen angel who works in Sheoul-gra for Azagoth. His job is maintaining records and data within all the realms. Cipher not only writes the computer codes but he can also hack any secret codes available in all realms. Bael and his brother Madoc believe they have the perfect incentive to force Cypher to break Azagoth’s secret files. They have recruited fallen angel Lyre to seduce and break Cypher.

Lyre is a fallen angel for a reason. She wants revenge against certain residents in heaven. Her only hope is working for the evil fallen angels in Sheoul to get what she wants. What she didn’t count on was the goodness radiating off of Cypher. No matter how severe the torture is, he never breaks. She’s starting to rethink her stance and regrets her actions after she fell. The longer she is around Cypher the more she wants to help him. Time is running out. They need to get to Sheoul-gra and warn Azagoth. They need to stop the evil at all costs even if it damns their own souls for eternity.

Love is the only thing that makes makes hell bearable. Love is the only thing that will give them the strength to escape.

Escaping is only a reprieve… the war is coming. Evil may try to defeat Azagoth but they don’t call him the grim reaper for nothing. No one messes with Azagoth or those under his care!

Larissa Ione has kept the Demonica Underworld fresh and exciting. Every time I think this series is close to an end she throws in a whole new twist that makes the Demonica world expand. This complex series has dynamic characters that are intense, charismatic, sexy, humorous, and downright scary. I can’t wait for Reaper to unleash on October 15, 2019. Everything we thought we knew about Azagoth is just a blip on our radar. He is coming to claim our hearts and souls. I am not running… he can take me down his fiery path.

The Wind Dragons MC Series by Chantal Fernando has gone full circle. EXCERPT:

“Amnesia,” he mutters for about the hundredth time. Usually, ‘fuck’, ‘shit’, or some blasphemy follows that statement. This time, however, there’s nothing. Maybe he’s finally getting used to the idea.

I sit on the opposite side of the booth, inspecting the cocktail menu. It’s as gross and sticky as the table.

“Can I get you guys something else?” asks the waiter with a practiced smile.

“I’ll have a piña colada.”

“You hate coconut,” Ed Larsen informs me, slumped back in his seat.

“Oh.”

“Try a margarita.”

“What he said,” I tell the waiter, who presumably thinks we have some kinky dom-sub thing going on.

Ed orders another lite beer, watching me the entire time. I don’t know if his blatant examination is better or worse than my sister’s furtive looks. He’d suggested going back to his place to talk. I declined. I don’t know the guy, and it didn’t feel safe. So instead we came here. The bar is dark and mostly empty, given it’s the middle of the afternoon, but at least it’s public.

“How old are you?” I ask.

In response, he pulls his wallet out of his back pocket and passes me his driver’s license.

“Thank you.” Information is good. More definites. “You’re seven years older than me.”

“Yeah.”

“How serious were we? Did we stay together for long?”

He licks his lips, turns away. “Don’t you have someone else you can ask about all this? Your sister?”

I just look at him.

He frowns, but then sighs. “We saw each other for about half a year before moving in together. That lasted eight months.”

“Pretty serious.”

“If you say so.” His face isn’t happy. But I need to know.

“Did I cheat on you?”

Now the frown comes with a glare.

Despite his don’t-fuck-with-me vibes, it’s hard not to smile. The man is blessed in the DNA department. He’s so pretty. Masculine pretty. I’m not used to being attracted to people, and he’s giving me a heart-beating-harder, tingles-in-the-pants kind of sensation, which is a lot new and a little overwhelming. Makes me want to giggle and flip my hair at him like some vapid idiot.

But I don’t. “It’s just that I’m getting some distinct vibes that somehow I’m the bad guy in all this.”

“No, you didn’t cheat on me,” he growls. “And I didn’t cheat on you either, no matter what you might have thought.”

My brows jump. “Huh. So that’s why we broke up?”

“This is fucked. Actually, it was fucked the first time.” He turns away and finishes the last of his beer. “Jesus.”

I just keep quiet, waiting.

“You have no memories, no feelings about me whatsoever?”

“No, nothing.”

A muscle jumps in his jaw, his hands sitting fisted on the table.

“It’s called traumatic retrograde amnesia,” I say, trying to explain. “What they call my ‘episodic memory’ is gone—all my memories of events and people and history. Personal facts. But I can still make a cup of coffee, read a book, or drive a car. Stuff like that. Things that were done repetitively, you know? Not that I’m allowed to drive at the moment. My car’s sitting outside my sister’s house gathering dust. They said to give it some time before I got behind the wheel again, make sure I’m okay. Also, apparently the part of my brain in charge of inhibitions and social restrictors, et cetera, is a bit messed up, so I don’t always react right, or at least not necessarily how you’d expect me to behave based on previous me.”

“Previous you?”

I shrug. “It’s as good a label for her as any.”

“She’s you. You’re her.”

“Maybe. But she’s still a complete stranger to me.”

“Christ,” he mutters.

This is awkward. “I’m upsetting you. I’m sorry. But there are things I need to know, and I’m hoping you can help me out with some of them.”

Michel’s Review

The Cursed Series by Rebecca Donovan is one readers don’t want to miss. The release of Part 1 and Part 2 are taking the reading and blogger world by storm. All who have read the book are praising the series and begging for the next two installments, myself included. This series grabbed my attention within the first few pages and held me captive through both parts. Although this series is considered mature YA geared for the 16 and up age group, I think this series steps out of it’s “specified genre”.  It will appeal to all readers because of it’s mature content mixed with intrigue, mystery, and romance while still capturing the freshness of youthful optimism. The writing is superb. The plot is delivered in an interesting and subtle way by blending two worlds together in an unique way. The main characters are defined by their strongest virtue which is also their biggest weakness and flaw.  Their personal curse is what propels and defines each of their roles within this story.

Pay attention to the headers at the beginning of each chapter in both Part One and Part Two.  Part One is the perspective from Lana’s grandmother. Part two is from a fairytale story. All of these chapter headers propel the story in a new direction.

Part One – If I’d Known

The readers are introduced to Lana, the narrator of The Cursed series. Lana has been brought up to believe that virtues are the curses that destroy lives. She’s the only child of a single mother who conceived her at a young age. They were abandoned by the baby daddy before she was born. Her mother has spent her life searching for love and happily ever after. Her search has left Lana somewhat emotionally neglected. Lana was mostly raised by her grandmother until she passed away.

Her life experiences have taught her that virtues are the downfall for everyone she has loved. She has witnessed Belief, Trust, Kindness, and Boldness destroy those she holds dear.

Lana has been brought up in the rougher side of a small city in Massachusetts. It’s obvious that Lana and her friends have had to grow up fast and learn street smarts in order to survive. Although they are one step away from crossing the line to the darker side, they have each other’s backs and protect each other no matter what. In a sense they all know they will cross the line at some point. It’s just a matter of when or how. Loyalty to each other is how they survive  in their world.

Lana’s biggest problem is her virtue. Her virtue is absolute “HONESTY”. She cannot lie no matter how much it can hurt someone else or herself. This is what leads her to her demise ( Part 2) when she is in the wrong place at the wrong time and very bad, unspeakable things happen that could destroy them all. Rather than lie about what happened she chooses silence and takes the punishment.

Part Two – Knowing You

Instead of being convicted and sent to Juvenile Detention, Lana is sent to Blackwood,an exclusive correctional boarding school for troubled rich kids. Rather than punishing the troubled students, they are managed and guided to make better life choices. The students are cut off from social media, technology, and the outside world. Their time is managed to fit their personal needs for improvement in all aspects of their lives including academic weaknesses to personality flaws. They are all required to work to pay back restitution for the  damages  they have done prior to coming to Blackwood.

Lana arrived at Blackwood at the beginning of the summer session. There are very few students on campus. The students that are attending quickly become her tribe although she doesn’t really trust any of them. They all work at the local country club and socialize with the other kids from town working there. Lana quickly realizes that although these kids are from privileged backgrounds they are all basically the same. They are all defined by their Virtue.

Lana becomes a part of the Blackwood life even though she misses her friends from her old life. She is learning that people are people no matter where she goes. There are good and bad things everywhere. She still doesn’t trust easily but she is also learning life lessons about the true meaning of love and friendship. Things seem good on the surface but she is getting threatening notes that are escalating into something sinister and dangerous. As the threats escalate it becomes apparent that her past world is connected to her new world. It may not be the VIRTUE that destroys her. Two worlds are colliding. Virtues are colliding. Her life is spiraling out of control.

CLIFFHANGER!

Wow… I have been waiting for a romantic suspense thriller that would keep me glued to the pages. Swim Deep by Beth Kery held me captive. What I loved most is the element of supernatural blended in with page turning suspense. This book kept me guessing. I loved the ending because it wasn’t the typical happily ever after but rather an empowering and believable conclusion. Well done Beth Kery!

There’s nothing quite like the guilty pleasure of following the rich and famous, and author Natasha Madison allows us to do just that in HOLLYWOOD PLAYBOY, the first book in her Hollywood Royalty series.

Celebrity reporter Jessica Hawthorn can’t tell you why she doesn’t like Hollywood darling Tyler Beckett. She just…doesn’t, and the feeling is all too mutual. So when a 30-day press junket is scheduled to follow Tyler on his latest PR campaign, no one is more surprised than Jessica to hear that she’ll be part of it. There is absolutely nothing that she likes about him, and she’s pretty sure that being in close quarters won’t change her mind one bit.

Tyler sees reporters as necessary evils, part of the price of fame. He’d rather anyone than Jessica accompany him on the press tour, but there’s no getting around having her there. HOLLYWOOD PLAYBOY is my first book by Natasha Madison, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jessica and Tyler are perfectly matched, and their sparring and sparking kept me turning pages, eager to see where they would end up. The support characters really lend a nice element to the story, adding a humanity and depth to both Jessica and Tyler that might otherwise not be there.

This book is pure entertainment, and a great start to the series. Having met Kellie, Jessica’s bestie, and the star of the next book, I can’t wait to get my hands on HOLLYWOOD PRINCESS. In the meantime, fans of the intrigue and shenanigans that make Hollywood all that it is will enjoy HOLLYWOOD PLAYBOY, an easy recommendation from me.

 

 

 

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…

Oh, my goodness, people. Prepare yourselves, because our Meghan March has outdone herself. You might think that you’ve seen her most alpha, her most mysterious, her most ‘y’all, where in the world did I put my fan?!’ hero. But, if you haven’t yet met Jericho Forge, well, you haven’t, not by a long stretch.

Longtime fans will remember the glimpse we got of Mr. Forge at the end of REVELING IN SIN (Sin Trilogy Book 3). I was intrigued, and couldn’t wait to see more of him, and, y’all, Meghan did not disappoint. DEAL WITH THE DEVIL is full of Meghan’s signature mystery, intrigue, and sizzle. Oh, Lord, the sizzle. There was practically steam coming from my phone, friends, and it was fantastic.

I was lucky enough to listen to the audiobook of DEAL WITH THE DEVIL, and, besides the fact that I couldn’t get enough as things played out between Jericho and India, let me just tell you what an absolutely awesome job narrators Joe Arden and Erin Mallon did with the story and the characters. Their performance allowed me to see the story play out in my mind, and, yes, it was fantastic.

In typical Meghan fashion, there is a humdinger of a cliffie here, but that only means that I get more of Jericho and India, and gives me something to look forward to. This is absolutely a 5 star experience, both the story and the performances, and if you’re a fan of Meghan March, then it should be either on your TBR or queued up for your listening pleasure. Either way, make sure that you meet Jericho Forge. You will not be sorry.

Like a goddamn ray of sunshine, light streaming behind her from the window, a halo shining above her pretty head.

“Yeah. You.” I know she can’t hear me, but I say it anyway—and if she’s any good at reading lips, she’ll haul her ass over here right quick.

Her cup is passed. Skirt gets smoothed out. Chin tilts high.

“Follow me,” I order her when we’re on the outskirts of the room. When we’re clear across the office common area, I pivot to face her.

She’s shorter, even in heels, so I have to dip my head to glare at her. “Want to tell me exactly what the fuck is going on in there?”

A self-made man, Rome Blackburn definitely needs to lighten up. I mean, all work and no play, well, we know how that ends up, and Rome is in definite need of an attitude adjustment. Enter Rome’s employee Peyton, and her hidden unrequited lust. With the help of lots of alcohol and a tech-savvy friend, her secret’s out, except…not exactly.

Oh, my goodness, this book. I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from LOVE, SINCERELY YOURS, but I absolutely loved it! From start to finish, authors Meghan Quinn and Sara Ney had me laughing out loud as I followed the goings-on of Rome and Peyton and their unconventional office romance. The back and forth between them, the slow steamy build-up, made for one of the most enjoyable rom-coms I’ve come across lately.

I think that one of things that really worked for me was the way that Rome, a guy that you really just wanted to punch in the throat at the beginning of the story, changes and evolves. Peyton is full of sass and isn’t afraid to use it, along with her business smarts, to help Rome see what he’s missing, both in the office and out.

LOVE, SINCERELY, YOURS will have you snickering, smiling, doing all of the laughing, and should most certainly be on your TBR. As an addendum, I will say that I listened to the audiobook, and narrators Ava Erickson and Alexander Cendese nailed these characters, making the story that much more fun. Grab this 4-5 star gem now, and thank me later.
