About Kristen Proby:

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

Okay, I knew from the very beginning of this series that Shiloh’s book was going to be the one, and, boy, the lovely and talented Catherine Cowles did not disappoint. I was all in with FRACTURED SKY from the first page, and I am still feeling it, weeks after I reached THE END.

I went into the Tattered & Torn series having read nothing at all that Catherine has written and I can now say that she is, without a doubt, one of my most favorite go-to romance authors. Her characters, their stories, the sense of family and home, she incorporates all of these things beautifully, and, if I was going to recommend one series this year, this would be the one.

Shiloh and Ramsey are perfect for each other, because they really have a strong sense of who they are themselves, who each other are, and what they need to move forward in their lives. Their connection is right on, and the chemistry, although somewhat of a slow burn, is off the charts.

I could not put FRACTURED SKY down, and I am already jonesing for another book by Catherine. Happily enough, the Lost & Found series is headed our way in the new year, and these books are already high atop my TBR. In the meantime, y’all, if you haven’t read the books in the Tattered & Torn series, now is the time for a binge, because they truly are all that. Go, read, fall in love. ❤️

Oh, my goodness, it’s official…THE BRAWL is my absolute favorite of the books in the Calamity, Montana series by author Willa Nash. I’ve likely said it with each consecutive book, but, oh, my word, this is THE ONE.

It’s no secret that I am all about the town of Calamity and the folks that call it home. Like all of the places that Willa (or Devney) write about, the beauty of the place, as well as the people, resonates with me. And let me just say that Willa has outdone herself with this book, because Ronan Thatcher and his love for Larke and Wren Hale have got me all up in my feels. He had me from the first ‘Mama,’ and my love for him, for his deep feelings, for his commitment to the people that he loves and the causes that he believes in, knows no bounds. And as for Larke, well, she’s what I’ve come to expect from Willa’s heroines. Strong even when she’s shaken, committed to family and a part of her home town down to her very depths.

Besides my love for Ronan and Larke, there is so much to recommend this book. All of the characters, especially Gerty, Wren, and Ember, the secondary plotline interwoven with, but no less important than, the love story between Ronan and Larke, the emphasis placed on family and home, all come together to create a story that I could not put down. THE BRAWL can be read as a standalone, so definitely snap this one up immediately because it is swoony and awesome, but do yourself a solid and read the whole series, because I guarantee that you will love them all. ❤️

Just in time for spooky season, author Kristen Proby has released HALLOWS END, the first book in her new The Curse of the Blood Moon series. Set in Salem, Massachusetts, and revolving around a family of magical women, HALLOWS END has proven to be a lovely entree into this new world.

Salem has been home to Lucy Finch and her ancestors for centuries. They’ve lived, thrived, and practiced their craft in the town for as long as anyone can remember. Unbeknownst to Lucy, there is another town, another world, just beyond her own. When circumstance leads Lucy to encounter Jonas Morley, a man from this nearby place, life as she and her family know it are in for some strange happenings.

Author Catherine Cowles continues to both break me and lift me up with the books in her Tattered & Torn series. SHATTERED SEA, the fourth book in the series, is a testament to Catherine’s ability to craft a story that evokes emotion that is both painful and beautiful.

Having met Laiken in the earlier books of the series, paired with the fact that every single story has blown me away, I was certain that I would love SHATTERED SEA, and I was not wrong. Both Laiken and Boden have great back stories, ones that have made them the strong people that they are because of the pain that they’ve suffered. They see something in each other, that something that draws them together despite any reservations that they may have.

Each book in the Tattered & Torn series makes me fall more in love with Catherine’s writing, with her skills as a storyteller, and with a place and its people. I absolutely cannot wait for FRACTURED SKY, Shiloh’s and Ramsey’s story, because the build to see Shiloh get her HEA has been tremendous. I can honestly say that this is one of my top series ever, and wish that every single fan of angsty suspenseful romance would snap these books up and binge them. They are amazing, and you will love them. ❤️

There’s something special about seeing a beloved series carry on, which is part of the reason that the Single In Seattle series by Kristen Proby is of of my current favorites. Having absolutely loved the world that Kristen created in her With Me in Seattle series, revolving around the big beautiful Montgomery family, getting to see how life is shaping up for the kids of those characters makes my heart happy.

The stars of THE SCANDAL are Stella McKenna and Gray Sterling, and the story could not have been sexier, steamier, or more satisfying. Stella is a firecracker, and Gray definitely has his work cut out for him. I myself would not really consider this an age gap romance, because the two of them are so in sync for most of the story that I truly forgot. That being said, there are moments that the difference becomes more clear, and, while Gray is the older, more experienced person in this couple, he still has some things to learn. To his credit, he rises to the occasion, which made me like him all the more.

One of my favorite things about these books, of course, is getting to spend time with all of the parents, the OG Seattle folks. Getting a glimpse into how Nate and Jules have matured, what their lives look like now, is the icing on the romantic cake, and just makes me more eager for the next installment.

THE SCANDAL is an easy, enjoyable read, especially for longtime fans of Kristen and her books. But even if this world is new to you, snap these books up, because I guarantee that you will fall in love. ❤️

It wasn’t enough for me. It never would be. But I admired how Addie could view her past. I struggled not to hold her too tightly. The urge to burn the world down around me was too strong. I wasn’t good the way Addie was. I still wanted to start with Allen.

“Beckett,” she whispered against my ear. “I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt. The skin is ugly but—”

I reared back. “Nothing about you is ugly.”

Her cheeks flamed. “It is. It’s just facts. I don’t care. There are so many more important things.”

“Show me.” I was already climbing to my feet.

“W-what?”

“Show me.”

Addie stood shakily. “I don’t want you to see it.”

My gaze locked with hers. I poured everything I was feeling into that one look. “Please.”

She didn’t say anything for a moment, searching my face for something. Then she nodded and turned around. Slowly, so painfully slowly, she unbuttoned her blouse. When she was done, she simply stood there, not lowering the shirt. Her ribs expanded and contracted in ragged breaths. Then she let the fabric fall to the floor.

I slowly swept my thumb across a patch of raised skin. Then I bent forward, my lips going to the worst of the scars. I ghosted them over the flesh that had been torn apart but had come back together stronger than it had been before.

Tracey’s Review

Like our children, the books in our favorite series have separate and different things that endear them to us, and, like with our kids, you just can’t pick a favorite. That being said, while I have loved each book in the Tattered & Torn series by author Catherine Cowles, HIDDEN WATERS just resonated with me. I love a slow burn, Catherine gave Addie and Beckett just that. Addie’s innocence, coupled with her desire to be self-sufficient, paired with Beckett’s need to take care of her, had me falling more in love with them and their story with each page.

As with the other books in the series, there is just the right amount of suspense to go along with the love story, and it played out just perfectly. And watching both Addie’s and Beckett’s growth as they let go of the past and find their future with and in each other, made HIDDEN WATERS a most special read. If you haven’t met the characters in the Tattered & Torn series, now is the time. Because next up is SHATTERED SEA, Laiken’s story, and I cannot wait. ❤️
