Synopsis

Throw back a shot of pure pleasure.

Vault of Sin, Book 1

Leo Petrova is between a rock and the hard place in his pants. Shot of Sin, the night club he owns with his two best friends, is short one bartender downstairs. The only available replacement is the upstairs bar manager—the one woman Leo knows he can’t take downstairs, can’t have, can’t touch. The one time he gave in to temptation convinced Leo that Shay’s no match for his sexual demands.

Only a select few know Shot of Sin’s guilty secret, that beneath the packed dance floor lies a very private sex club—the Vault. The place Leo can let his sexual proclivities run wild.

Shay Porter is curious as to why her boss, the king of mixed messages, seems almost desperate to keep her from discovering what’s on the other side of the guarded door at the back of the club.

Sliding out of her comfort zone and into Leo’s arms risks everything. Their friendship, the Vault, and most of all, their hearts.

Warning: This sex club does not carry the government’s stamp of approval. Contains devilish debauchery, delightful deviance, and dancing on the edge of the darkest of sexual desires.

Tracey’s Review

What do you get when you combine equal parts sassy bartender, super-alpha club owner and his partners, and said club that is definitely more than meets the eye? You get A Shot of Sin, one ultra-sexy read about a very special club, the people that work there, and what goes on behind closed doors.

This was my first time reading a book by Eden Summers, and, oh, my goodness, what a way to start. I liked Shay Porter right away. Head bartender for the club, she’s been wanting Leo Petrova, one of Shot of Sin’s owners, since she first met him. Leo, though, isn’t about to get involved with a co-worker, especially when his past experiences with relationships have always ended in heartache. These two are absolutely combustible, and I could not turn the pages quickly enough. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the relationship between Shay and Leo heat up, and absolutely loved both T.J. and Brute, Leo’s partners in the club. If you’re reading this, Eden, PLEASE give these awesome guys their books, too!

I give A Shot of Sin 4.5 sizzling stars, and hope that Eden has plans to give us more books about this lively group of characters, ’cause I’ll be first in line to keep reading. Grab this one, guys, get out your fan, and enjoy!

Synopsis

Fans of Jill Shalvis and Molly O’Keefe will love this deeply romantic and uplifting debut novel about losing everything you thought you wanted—and getting exactly what you need.

Sophie Richards has been looking forward to a much-needed girls’ night out: a Rolling Stones tribute-band concert, a few drinks, a distraction from her grueling nursing shifts in acute care. But when her best friend bails, Sophie gets stuck with a blind date.

Although Brett Nicholson may be the hottest carpenter alive, and Sophie may technically be single, she isn’t exactly on the market. Six years ago she found The One. He was everything Sophie dreamed a man could be—and then she lost him. In an instant, her whole life changed, and she forgot all about happily ever after.

But as she gets to know Brett, Sophie starts to wonder about the future for the first time. With a broken heart still clouding her mind, jumping into a new relationship feels impossible. When she’s in his arms, walking away feels even harder. Now Sophie faces an impossible choice: living in the past or choosing love in the here and now.

Tina’s Review

:: DEBUT NOVEL :: First-person, present tense narrative with some flashback windows into the past.
Two not-so social people with common friends agree to go together to a concert. Neither have really dated in years. She’s experienced a tragedy, he grew tired of casual dating. They defy the odds and find they have an easy, immediate connection and chemistry. The reader is provided ample backstory on Sophie, but not a lot on Brett, it’s almost like he’s a secondary character rather than a lead male. The characters are very feel-good and well-written. They are all very likable and the interaction is good. I just really wish there was more depth and background for Brett’s character. The plot is sweet and flows nicely. The main conflict runs through the length of the book and is finally resolved in the last few chapters, which provides enough time to tie all loose ends and provide a solid and satisfactory conclusion. Predictability is virtually non-existent. Overall, this was quite a pleasant debut novel.

Tracey’s Review

Although they’ve agreed to a long-distance relationship, Anna Kirby and Ethan Scott are finding it harder than they’d thought to deal with being separated by 3,000 miles. Having fallen hard and fast for each other, they’re beginning to wonder whether their love will survive the separation. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way, and these two are nothing if not strong-willed…

Oh, yeah, game, set, and match to Louise Bay. If I thought that I could not love Ethan Scott one bit more, well, I was wrong. With NEW YEAR IN MANHATTAN, the third and final installment in the Empire State series, Louise has managed to make me fall in love with these characters all over again. I have so thoroughly enjoyed these books, and could not be happier with this one. Ethan and Anna and their story are delectable; one bit, and I was in for the long haul, unable to stop once I’d begun, until I’d finished each book, and sat waiting impatiently for the next. Their commitment to each other, the absolutely sizzling connection that they have, and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make things work kept me turning the pages, because I was not stopping until I’d finished. With NEW YEAR IN MANHATTAN, Louise continues to write characters that I would absolutely want to hang out with, conversations that had me laughing, worrying a bit, and fanning myself in turn, and sexy scenes that deliver in all the best ways. While I’m sorry that the series has reached its conclusion, I am so glad that I had the chance to read it. These characters and their story are ones that I will happily revisit, and couldn’t recommend more highly. 5.5 swoony and super-satisfied stars for this one.

Author Bio:

I write sexy, contemporary romance novels – the kind I like to read. My books Faithful and Hopeful are stand-alone novels although there are some overlapping characters. The Empire State Series of novellas starts with A Week in New York.

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the eighties, I love all things romantic. There’s not enough of it in real life so I’ll settle for books and films.

I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don’t have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

“It’s raining,” Stacey said out loud all of sudden.

Rain splashed on us, only it wasn’t rain.

“Did you see me, Hendrix?” a deep, manly voice asked, causing all sorts of tingles in me just from the sound of his voice.

“Ugh.” Hendrix wiped his face and gave each of us a towel. “Must you flip your hair and shake like a dog? No, I didn’t see you.” He sounded annoyed, then softened his tone when he turned to us. “I was too busy staring at these two beautiful ladies in front of me. One that is off limits and the other one that needs a lot of hands on.”

Stacey blushed and giggled like a schoolgirl. Since my back was to this stranger, my face didn’t get as wet as theirs, but when I peered up after I wiped myself off … holy shit! It was the guy from the swimming pool.

Our eyes locked for the first time, but neither of us looked away. In fact, his dark chocolate eyes grew, and small dimples appeared on both of his cheeks when his lips curled wider. His stare was so strong and intense that he might as well have fucked me with it. All sorts of butterflies fluttered in my stomach and spread to every nerve in my body, sending electrifying tingles everywhere. And seeing stubble along his strong jawline produced another shudder within me.

“Hi there.” His grin got wider and hotter. “Sorry about that.” He sounded sincere. When he leaned closer to my ear, my heart drummed faster, and I lost my breath. Heat infused through me, and I was trying really hard to compose myself. Before I could move away, he whispered slowly and sensually, “Did I make you wet? I can fix that for you.” His words came out hot and playful, intended only for me to hear, each word accentuated with warm puffs in my ear.

Michel’s Review

Something Amazing by M. Clarke was a fun and fluffy kind of romance.  What starts out as a vacation fling evolves into deeper feelings.  Jax and Rachel find a love that could be the once in a lifetime.  They live on separate sides of the country.  They are on different paths in life.  Jax has been mysterious about his career and life commitments.  Rachel is at crossroads.  Her career in New York is going nowhere.  She has just gotten out a long term relationship after she realizes that she was just settling rather than waiting for that “once in a lifetime” experience.  She may have found it on vacation but vacations don’t last forever.

Fate brings Rachel and Jax together again in California.  Jax’s secrets are revealed.  Can Rachel accept Jax for the man he is and the life he leads?  Her heart says yes but her head says no.

Together they will have to find a way to make their love work.  This time the vacation is over and now they have a real chance at Something Amazing.

I enjoyed this book.  It was a nice but predictable romance.  It is the perfect kind of book when you just want to shut down and experience a happily ever after romance.

Exceprt

I’ve been seated among the dozens of other passengers for the past two hours, watching the gate times change a number of times before I see the plane actually arrive. Just as I’m powering my phone down, preparing to board, an awful stench burns my nose from a few inches away. A middle-aged man with greasy black hair and a thick lip-covering mustache who smells exactly like the inside of a port-a-potty has found a reason to sit directly beside me in a row of empty seats. When my eyes unfortunately meet his, he takes the opportunity to speak to me. “Heading to Boston?” he asks. I raise my eyebrows and force a tightlipped smile. I simply follow that with a nod and give him a no shit look. “I heard winter’s coming early this year,” he continues.

“Cool,” I mumble with a sigh. I pull a magazine out of my bag and open it in front of my face, hoping to block my vision of the man’s blackened-stained grin. But it’s only seconds before I’m taken back when his finger sweeps down the bare skin of my collarbone.

“What does that mean?” he asks, pointing to my tattoo.

With a smooth motion, I lay my magazine down onto my lap and place my hand over his, giving him the false notion that I’m a gentle person. I take the opportunity to offer him a slight smile before I twist his forefinger backwards as far as it will go before the expectant snap. “I’m sorry,” I say sweetly. “Did I tell you it was okay to touch me?” I pull down a little harder, and he smiles in response to the pain. But as I hold my hand there, I see the smile begin to fade.

“It’s a free country, chicky,” he sputters as his tongue knocks around between his bare gums.

“Why would you think it’s okay to touch me?” I ask again, keeping my voice calm, yet stern. He licks his lips and looks me up and down, responding with only a look. “Do you go around touching girls half your age because you feel it’s okay?”

He clears his throat and looks around to see who’s watching or listening, but I don’t move my eyes from his. “Why not?” he says, shrugging his bony shoulders. “Besides, you’re definitely asking for it.”

He thinks I’m asking for it? I’m wearing a fucking scoop neck, black long sleeve shirt, jeans, and combat boots. “The only reason it’s okay, is because no one has ever probably told you no. But it occurs to me that after I snap your finger off your hand, you won’t be able to touch people inappropriately anymore, will you?”

He hoots with laughter, dragging in attention he probably shouldn’t want. “You think you could break my finger, little chicklette?”

I pull his finger a little further, and his smile grows. “Ow, stop. You’re hurting me,” he puckers his lips and winks at me.

“Oh, look, it’s your right hand. You a righty?” I turn his hand over and see deep callouses bubbling on his palm. “Yes, you are. So, if I rip this thing off, you wouldn’t miss it, right?” I turn his hand back over and glare into his beady eyes. He’s questioning my words. He’s unsure of my capabilities. And that’s fine. “Sound okay to you? Or are you going to leave and stop touching people?” His smile fades and his eyes widen. I release his hand and offer him a smart-ass smile. “Oh, and the tattoo means death. It’s a Maori Warrior symbol. They used to eat their enemies once they slaughtered them. Cool, huh?”

I see his Adam’s apple struggle to move. He lifts his bag from the ground and nearly trips over his own feet, darting away.

I reopen my magazine to the page I was reading and refocus my attention on an article as I hear a soft chuckle coming from the other side of me. I turn to see who was enjoying the free entertainment and I’m faced with a man who looks to be either a wrestler or in the military–black shaven hair, stiff jaw and bulging muscles on every inch of his arms. His eyes are currently focused on a book, and I suppose he could have been laughing at that, rather than me. But as I question it, his large shamrock green eyes lift and look right at me. A slight grin tugs on the corner of his lips, and he winks so quickly I’m questioning whether it was me who might have blinked. Before I can react, he stands up and walks away.

I swallow hard and refocus my attention on the magazine once more. Stupid attractive man causing a moment of feebleness. I didn’t react, though. He winked at me. I think. And I didn’t make a snide comment or scowl. Weakness.

I let out a few short breaths, regaining my composure. He’s gone. It’s fine.

Michel’s Review

TAG is the first book that I have read by Shari J. Ryan.  I was given an ARC to review for this sale promotion.  I was intrigued by the synopsis and by the fact that it combined two of my favorite genres to read.

TAG starts off on a pulsing fast pace.  The very first chapter has your heart racing and mind intrigued.  From there the reader is completely engaged in the story.  It has an original plot, strong characters, sexual tension, climatic moments, and emotional passages that have the reader close to tears.  The plight of these two people are on very different paths that merge together and lead them down the same road.  For each of the them the outcome could be very different.  For each the them it could be life changing.  For each of them it is their only chance of survival.  What they find along the way are some very rare gifts that neither thought they would ever have.  They find the love that only happens once in a lifetime.  They also find the one thing neither of them has in their lives.  They find hope.

TAG is a very moving story.  The intense storyline, the fast paced action, and emotional elements will have your adrenaline high and heart racing.

Shari J. Ryan’s writing is crisp, fresh, and engaging.  She created charismatic characters and gave them life.  Their story grabs the reader’s attention and their personalities grab the readers hearts.

I highly recommend TAG.  It is a story that you will not forget.

Robin’s Review

I want to begin by expressing my appreciation for the opportunity to review an advanced reader copy of Never Never on behalf of Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews.

Colleen Hoover recently shared on a blog post how a writing partnership was formed between herself and Tarryn Fisher. Colleen began by explaining she had an idea she had been considering for a novel. She shared her idea with Tarryn. Tarryn loved the idea and encouraged Colleen to begin writing the story. Colleen remained busy with other commitments, so Tarryn decided to write a first chapter and email it to Colleen. Colleen enjoyed reading the chapter so much that she decided to write a second chapter and sent it back to Tarryn. New chapters continued to be written. They were enjoying themselves. All I can say is thank goodness they decided to publish this story!

This review will not contain spoilers beyond what the authors have previously chosen to share. But I will share a glimpse of how this special story begins. Imagine you suddenly become aware of your surroundings. You remember nothing of the moment before. You don’t know your name or what you look like or where you are. You have no recollection of your past. Silas Nash and Charlie Wynwood both experience this in Never Never. It doesn’t take long for Silas and Charlie to meet and realize they are both in the same predicament. Why did this happen to them? How do they remember? And what do they mean to each other?

Here are some details I feel comfortable sharing about this story. The events of Never Never take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our main characters are in high school. The chapters for the male protagonist, Silas Nash, are written by Colleen Hoover. The chapters for the female protagonist, Charlie Wynwood, are written by Tarryn Fisher. It’s young adult fiction. It’s a drama full of mystery and intrigue, where every answer they uncover leads to more questions. It’s thrilling. Romantic. There is even a paranormal aspect to this story, although I haven’t quite figured that part out. That’s because the story is not quite finished. Colleen confirmed there is more of the story to be written on her recent blog post.

Even though this novel has been written by two authors, I feel the story flowed seamlessly. Any differences in writing style felt completely natural to me. After all, Silas and Charlie have different personalities.  I immediately felt an affinity for Silas and Charlie. I guess you could say that I fell in love with these characters. I’m pretty sure I feel this way because Silas and Charlie bear a distinct resemblance to two of my favorite fictional characters.  And Charlie also reminds me of one of my favorite authors.

I love mystery mixed with my romance.  I love piecing together puzzles. But this novel left me reeling! I was wide awake into the night considering all of the possibilities for this story. What could possibly be happening to Silas and Charlie? What clues have I missed?  I promise that I have lost sleep over this novel, and I could probably discuss theories for days!

Parts of this story are seriously funny! I laughed out loud on many occasions, and I’m pretty sure I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading Never Never. I found myself on a collision course with the last page of the novel. I devoured each page with gusto. It’s like Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover wrote the perfect novel for me. They have me hoping for a fairytale outcome for Silas and Charlie. The sequel to Never Never has become my most anticipated novel for this year. Congratulations go out to Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher for this epic 6-star novel!

One of my goals for 2015 was to read books that I had purchased in 2014 but did not have time to get to.  Take Me For Granted by K.A. Linde was one of those books.  With the upcoming release of Take Me With You coming out on January 27, 2015, I made this book a priority to read.

I absolutely love bad boy rock star books.  Take Me For Granted is one of those books that shines in this category.  Grant McDermott is the front man for the popular rising band Contriband.  Their band is one of the favorites among the Princeton community.  Grant is your typical bad boy manwhore.   He takes full advantage of his popularity among the Princeton ladies.  Women are easy come, easy go until he meets the one girl that is not taken by his bad boy charms.  Her snarky personality and sass has him intrigued. Her rejection has him on the chase for the first time in his life.  Her intelligence tests his wits.  She is the one girl he is not going to let get away.  What starts out as a quest to get Aribel into his bed turns into a whole different kind of challenge.  Grant has finally met a girl that he wants to be in a relationship with.  Can he give up his bad boy ways and become a better man, a man that is worthy of Aribel or will he blow the one thing that can really make his life better?

Aribel is a young woman that has her goals in life set.  Her education and academic career is the most important agenda.  She doesn’t have time for dating and frivolous college life.  Her goals have held her back and made her socially inept .  When her roommates force her to go out for a fun night on the town , her life is changed.  She meets the kind of guy she absolutely despises.  She meets the lead singer of the local band that has all the girls from school vying to get into his bed.  She is not immune to Grant’s charismatic personality.  She is not as unaffected as she wants to be.

Grant and Aribel both have challenges in their relationship.  Neither of them has ever been in a successful relationship. They both are polar opposites with very different goals in life.  Somehow the two of them recognize that what they have is more than a college fling, it is something that could last a lifetime.  They will have to get past their own personal obstacles , get past their friends expectations, and find a way to blend their very different lives together.

Just as everything is finally rolling along on a smooth path in their relationship, Grant’s band is gaining recognition.  They are on the brink of signing a recording contract.  Can their relationship survive the fame and the rockstar lifestyle?

This book ends on a cliffhanger and has the reader biting at the bits for the upcoming book, Take Me With You.

The characters and their story was highly entertaining.  K.A. Linde delivered the sexy and thrilling romance she has come to be known for.  This book had the right amount of angst and the right amount of fluff.

I highly recommend this book and series.

Kelley’s Review

Swoony, sexy, and sinfully delicious…

Tia spins a sexy tale that is emotionally gripping as our hero battles the serious demons of addiction and our heroine does everything she can to set him free.

When he spoke, his voice was tight. “Don’t set your sites on me Mariska.” Hazel eyes burned into mine,  “When the time comes, I will leave.”

This story is not just about Stuart and Mariska.  The story begins with Nikki and the fact that she had one amazing night with Stuart before he left for active duty and she is looking forward to adding many more nights when she picks him up from the airport.  You can only imagine her heartbreak when Stuart makes it clear that he is not interested.  She will not give him up without a fight though and we get to see Nikki’s true colors towards the end of this read.  Tia may very well end up writing “one” amazing story about Nikki someday that will have all of us looking at her in a different light.

Stuart is trying to get his head on straight and flush his system of all the pain killers he has been taking because of a career ending injury.  He is a Marine and needs to get back in the line of duty even if it means private security in the Middle East.  He plans to leave as soon as he possible can.

Mariska has been having these crazy dreams where people are being shot at and there is a lot of pain and suffering going on.  She does not understand why these dreams are happening until the day she meets Stuart Knight.  He came by the gym with a message for Kenny and Mariska could see that he was hurting and offered to make him one of her famous smoothies.  One brush of the hand and she knew that she was connected to him somehow.  Her grandmother told her many stories about her visions and taught her how to read turkish coffee grounds.  She trusted her gut and when the opportunity arose to go see Stuart at his uncle’s ranch she only hoped that she had the power to heal him.

Stuart is stunned when he looks into Mariska’s hazel eyes and feels a sense of peace wash over him.

“Just looking at her beautiful eyes seemed to help me relax, and her cheeks blossomed with that rosey glow.  My gaze dropped to her full, pink lips, and a force inside me pulled.  it didn’t make sense, but I wanted to explain why I couldn’t stay with her, why I couldn’t take her with me.”

I found myself fanning myself one minute and tearing up the next.  Tia writes a very powerful story about drug addiction and withdrawal filled with hope and healing.  Her characters are complex and have insatiable chemistry as well as a spiritual connection to each other.  I have loved this series from the beginning and was super excited to be reunited with Derek, Melissa, Kenny, Patrick, Elaine, Slade and Lane.  I can’t wait to read what Tia comes up with next.

Mariska

If you asked where this sudden surge of bravery came from, I’d have to be honest. I had no fucking idea. Stuart rode into the barn looking like sex on two legs… very tired sex on two legs, but sex on two legs all the same, and I made up my mind. After the way he kissed me yesterday, I didn’t care what type of bullshit line he tried to spin, Stuart Knight was in the same space as me. He was fighting hard, but he wanted this.

Now I was in his bedroom ordering him around, and he was actually allowing it. Humoring me, more like it. Not for one minute was I suffering from the delusion that this man took orders from anyone. Still, for whatever reason, exhaustion or simple curiosity, he let me take the lead.

Once his shirt was off, I couldn’t hide the hitch in my breath at the site of his lined torso. Ridges crossed his abdomen, lines stretched across his broad shoulders and down his arms. He lay on his stomach across the mattress, and it was all I could do not to run my tongue over every inch of his beautiful body. Instead, I quickly took off my boots, and for increased mobility (yes, that was my excuse), I removed my denim shorts.

Lightly I smoothed my palm across his lower back, trying to remember the touches I’d learned in the few massage therapy classes I’d taken. Why hadn’t I taken more? Kneading a little harder, I knew I had to get lower, down into the pelvic area to give him relief.

“Do you mind if I remove your boxers?” My voice was breathless and trembling. Those snug, dark briefs didn’t hide much, but I knew once I saw that ass, I’d be a goner.

“No.”

One word. He’d sounded almost as cautious as me when he said it. Closing my eyes, I shook myself. Now was the time. This was my man. If I was going to make it happen, if I was going to make any of this make sense, from the day I left Bayville to this moment, I had to go for it. Fate had dropped this opportunity straight in my lap.

Inhaling a quiet breath, I gently pulled the waistband out and lowered it down his legs. I knew what was on the other side, pressed between his pelvis and the mattress, and I didn’t want to hurt him. Miraculously, I got his underwear off, and

Oh.

My.

God.

Square and tight, with palm-sized indentations on each side… For a moment, I could only stare at his backside. Perfect and golden as the rest of him.

Climbing back onto my knees, I took the quietest deep breath in the history of recorded time. It trembled going in, and my hand trembled reaching out. I touched him. He seemed to breathe at that exact moment as well—almost as if he’d been holding his breath, too.

Tina’s Review

Novella, under 100 pages.
It’s been six months since Finn’s father ran Tess out of town. Now, seven months pregnant, she’s returned to town with only two goals: attend granddaddy’s funeral and see her niece or nephew be born. Then she plans to leave town again before Finn’s father can act upon the threats he’d made against her loved ones. But things are not that simple. The closing scene of WALK ME DOWN overlaps with the opening scene of WALK BESIDE ME, providing a seamless continuance of the story. The characters are the same as before, only several circumstances have shifted or altered. Dialogue is believable, interaction is natural. HJ Bellus writes in a style that flows extremely smooth, making the pages fly by like nothing. It’s a very pleasurable experience. The plot is pretty good, for being so short. While it has plenty of dynamics to carry it, it lacks the fullness of a full-length novel. Several aspects of the conflicting elements were predictable, but it wasn’t until moments before the reveal that I knew what was going to happen (My Opinion: Blech! LOL)! This finale novella closes Finn’s and Tessa’s story off with solidly. I enjoyed this 2-piece set rather well.

Three sizzling-hot erotic romance stories to stoke your mood…

——————-

My Thoughts:
AUTHOR DEBUT — 3 novella anthology, approximately 60 – 100 pages each.
THE INTERN –
Approximately 100 pages. Lauren is a mid-thirties, divorced general practitioner. Her ex-husband left her with the practice and all the bills. She gratefully allowed a buy-in partnership to alleviate some of the financial stress & now is taking on an intern as a favor to an old college friend. Only she doesn’t realize that she’s a he & he’s smokin’ hot! But she’s way too old for a young Adonis like him, isn’t she?
Courtney “Court” applies for a summer internship to determine if this is truly the path he wants to follow before he enrolls into med school. He’s attracted to his new boss in ways that he’d never imagined, but what chance does a kid have with an experienced woman?
A fun, quick story with humorous moments. The cast of characters were unique and enjoyable. Dialogue and interaction was great. The plot was fairly simple as many novella with not a lot of dynamics, but it flowed well nonetheless. The conflict gets thrown out and the results are fairly hot (but a little clinical). There was no predictability. The ending read like it was “wrapped up”, I was left feeling a bit confused and short-changed. Not your typical conclusion.
Score: 3.6, Stars: 4
—– —– —–
MY DOCTOR, MY HUSBAND AND ME –
Approximately 65 pages. Valerie needs surgery on her foot to correct an old injury that did not heal properly and has been bothering her. She been married to Elliott for eighteen years and they have two teen children together. The marriage has not been without it’s faults, but they are happy. But now that she’s seen her doctor, she’s fantasizing of more.
Luka is the specialist that will perform her surgery. He’s handsome with a swoon-worthy bedside manner and hot, silky Eastern European accent. He’s attracted to her, but she’s his patient. Her wedding band hasn’t gone unnoticed either.
A proposal is made at her final appointment… an erotic proposal, a proposal she can only hope Elliott will go along with.
Lead female and her husband are in their early to mid-forties, the doctor about mid-thirties so they are a little older than typical characters. Characters are good, dialogue and interaction believable. The plot is thin, but flows smoothly. The sexual descriptions are sort of blunt and clinical; it does not come off as hot or erotic. There’s not a lot of conflict, no predictability. Again, the ending is written as if it’s a wrap, but you are left feeling cheated…
Score: 3.4, Stars: 3
—– —– —–
SEIZE THE DOCTOR-
Approximately 75 pages. Earlier in the week, Nikki broke up with her boyfriend of a year after he’d cheated on her. Now her friends convince her to go out to the club with them to forget the jerk.
Hunter’s celebrating with his friend when he meets Nikki. After spending over an hour getting to know one another, her friends see his friends playing a numbers game (collecting girls’ phone numbers) and call the night off, dismissing the man-whore douches and their ridiculous “I’m a doctor.” lines.
Little did they realize…
Lead characters are great, seconds are good. Humorous and fun dialogue. The sex scene(s) is/are a bit funny with the over-exuberant commentary and jerking pole terminology, but at least it’s less clinical than the previous novellas were. Enjoyable, light plot with an easy flow. There was a mild conflict that was quickly resolved. Virtually no predictability. The conclusion was the most solid and satisfying of the three novellas. I enjoyed this one most.
Score 4.2, Stars: 4
