Oh, my gosh, this book. This little book, this novella in the Fight For Me series by author A.L. Jackson, has got me all hot and bothered, y’all. Originally part of the GLAMOUR Anthology, HUNT ME DOWN is Amy’s take on the Little Red Riding Hood story, and, let me just tell you, if Broderick ‘Brody’ Wolfe is chasing, I might just have to let him catch me…

I fell in love with Gingham Lakes and it’s citizens when I read SHOW ME THE WAY, the first book in the Fight For Me series. Lily is one of the Rynna’s friends, but here in this book, we get to really meet her, and see what makes her tick. And, for all that this is a novella, Amy has packed plenty of story into it, so that I really felt like I was getting the total history of Lily, Brody, and how they came to be together.

I’m not a huge fan of insta-love, but, in this case, I’ll totally make the exception, because, I guess, when you know, you know. And, hot? Lawdy, hot doesn’t even begin to describe it. The chemistry between Red and her Wolfe is so off the charts, I swear that I heard my e-reader sizzling.

While HUNT ME DOWN is Book 1.5 in this series, it can absolutely be read as a standalone, and can (and maybe should) be read before SHOW ME THE WAY. 4.5 fiery little stars for this book. Add this total feel-good story to your TBR and enjoy.

His brows slanted down, and then his expression cleared. “You’re worried about me? Bright eyes, you don’t have to be.”

Either he was lying to make her feel better or he’d missed the cold calculation in Alethea’s eyes when she’d watched them walk out. If he didn’t dance to the tune she set, she would have no problem killing him. She wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep at night over it.

Charlie gripped his hand tighter. “Promise me.”

“You know I can’t. I’ll do whatever it takes to see this through, and if that means getting into another situation like the one we just left, I won’t hesitate.”

She wanted to shake the stubbornness right out of him. “Even if it means you don’t walk out alive?”

He started to give her a pat answer. She saw the second he registered that she was actually scared for him—not herself. The mask slipped, and something like wonder dawned. Aiden pulled her into his lap and framed her face with his hands. “The end justifies the means. You know that.”

She’d thought the same thing earlier. Now she wasn’t so sure.

But he wasn’t going to listen to her tonight. Either he hadn’t seen the danger or he was determined to downplay it. If she kept pressing, it might mean a fight, and that was the last thing Charlie wanted. She’d never been more aware of time flowing, a river that she couldn’t fight. Aiden wasn’t hers. She couldn’t protect him. She didn’t even have a real right to demand he take more precautions. She was just a woman whose aims had lined up with his.

“Charlie—”

She kissed him. There wasn’t anything left to say that they couldn’t communicate with their bodies. She shifted to straddle him, the move making her dress ride up to indecent heights. All Aiden’s careful control was gone in an instant, replaced by a frenzy that matched her own. He slid his hands up her thighs to her hips, pushing the dress even higher, and grabbed her ass, grinding her against him.

All her fear and anger turned to desire, creating an inferno bound to incinerate them both. She could care less. Charlie reached between them and undid his slacks to pull out his cock. She palmed him. “Condom?”

He opened his mouth and then considered. “Fuck, I don’t have any.”

Damn. Disappointment soured in her stomach, but she shoved it away. “Then I guess we’ll have to get creative. I need you inside me. I don’t care how.” She pushed away his hands and slid down the seat to kneel between his thighs.

Or she tried to.

He caught her halfway through the move and shook his head. “No, bright eyes.”

“What?” Surely he wasn’t rejecting a blow job? That had to break some kind of international law. It just wasn’t done. “You’re starting to give me a complex.”

Aiden lifted her back to his lap, this time facing away from him. The passing lights showed her reflection in the glass separating them from the front seat. Her blue eyes were wild, her hair tangled from his fingers, her dress in danger of slipping off her breasts. Behind her, Aiden was barely a shadow. He moved her hair to one side and kissed her neck. “You come first, bright eyes. Second, too, if I have any say in it.”

She licked her lips. “One of these days, I’m going to tie you down and give you all the blow jobs I’ve been craving.”

“One of these days…” He bracketed her throat with one hand, keeping her head tilted to the side, and coasted the other hand up her inner thigh, spreading her legs further. “One of these days, I’ll let you.”

She nodded. “Good answer.” The move increased the pressure of his hand against her neck, and she squirmed, turned on far more than she should be.

His wandering hand reached the junction between her thighs, and he parted her, idly stroking. “I think I like that you’re worried about me.” His finger circled her clit and away. “I like it a lot.”

“Mmm.” What was she supposed to say to that? She’d already had to face the fact that she didn’t have the right words because she didn’t have the right.

His finger pushed into her slowly. “I won’t be without a condom again, bright eyes. Feeling you so hot and wet around my finger makes me crave the same around my cock.” He pumped as idly as he’d touched her to begin with. “A woman like you could make a man forget himself.”

It was hard to think, with his hard body behind her, his erection pressing against her ass, and his hand moving between her legs. She tried despite that. “Only for a while.”

“No, bright eyes. Not just for a while.” He dragged his mouth down the line of her shoulder. “When I’m inside you, all I can think of is you. When I’m near you, all I can think of is getting inside you again. If you gave me half a chance, I’d be buried to the hilt right now, condom be damned. That’s crazy.”

She rocked against his hand, letting her head fall back to rest on his shoulder. He let go of her throat. The only warning she got was his thumb brushing her sternum and then he pushed down her dress, baring her breasts completely. Aiden cursed. “Next time you forget such a vital part of your wardrobe, the moment I find out, I’m going to fuck you. I might give you the option of dragging you to the nearest bathroom…if you’re lucky.”

“Wrong…I’m going to keep us both alive, bright eyes, and that means I call the shots and you obey, no matter how much taking orders from me chafes.”

As a fan of romantic suspense, I am absolutely in love with The O’Malleys series by author Katee Roberts. These are characters that I shouldn’t like, but how could I not? Three crime families, at odds with each other, yet inextricably entwined with each other. Love, honor, and commitment are the flip side of violence, corruption, and passion, and these books just keep getting better and better.

Aiden O’Malley has been the dark horse of the series for me. Having stepped in to fill the shoes of his retired/deposed father, he’s done his share of things in the name of making the O’Malley’s the reigning crime family in Boston that have driven his family apart. With new players on the scene, Aiden seeks out Charlie Moreaux to help keep the balance of power in his favor. How was he supposed to know that the game that they were playing would bring higher stakes than he’d expected?

Charlie is awesome. She is the perfect match for Aiden, in every way. She’s been burned before, and she’s not going to allow herself to be the weak one ever again, and she’s more than happy to keep him on his toes, all while bringing a balance to the O’Malley’s that they didn’t think they’d ever get back. To say that Aiden’s and Charlie’s story is passionate and steamy is an understatement (seriously, someone, hand me a fan…), but there are deeper layers at play here, and I really enjoyed the way that their story unwound. Neither one is about to back down, but Aiden’s gotten more than he’d bargained for in Charlie, and all of the O’Malleys will be the better for it.

UNDERCOVER ATTRACTION is action-packed, and a real page turner, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Although the books are all standalones, it’s helpful to have read the other books so that you have an understanding of the politics at play, and the alliances that have been forged. Now, with Aiden paired off, I can’t wait to see what happens with Keira O’Malley and Dmitri Romanov, because it is sure to be a fiery, passionate, edge of your seat read. In the meantime, 4.5 HEA mob-boss stars for Aiden and Charlie. This is a series not to be missed, and fans of the mafia read will want it at the very top of their TBRs.

“I’d like a try.” It was the stranger with the green eyes.

Hot damn.

Of course the night would ramp up right when I announced I was leaving. I looked up at him expectantly, but he didn’t approach. I realized he was waiting for my invitation. He was definitely new. Everyone else knew Miss T was one of the most ready and willing participants in the room—to the point where some tried to take advantage of it. I never needed to issue invitations, but I often needed to reinforce boundaries.

“What are you waiting for, then?” I sat up straighter, ignoring Chuck’s grunt of complaint.

The stranger came forward with slow, swaggering steps. When he reached me, he loosened his bowtie a little before lowering himself to one knee at my side. He placed his arm next to mine on the chair, his fingers barely grazing my skin. Goosebumps sprouted up my forearm all the way to my neck, and he hadn’t even bent in to whisper yet.

Trish Bisceglia, personal assistant to one Hudson Pierce, leads a double life of sorts. All business and straitlaced by day, wild, free, and anything but vanilla by night, she strives to keep her professional and private life completely separate. Which has worked well for her, until Nate. Nathaniel Sinclair of Reach, Inc. (yes, THAT Reach, Inc…) is more than meets the eye. A chance meeting leads Trish and Nate into an explosive, chemistry-filled liaison that soon turns into more than either one of them expected. (P.S. If you’re really really careful, and you don’t blink, you’ll see this couple for just a moment in DIRTY FILTHY RICH LOVE. Who knew one little snippet could pave the way for such a steamy duo?!)

DIRTY FILTHY FIX is a sexy and welcome little addition to Laurelin’s body of work, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Besides the obvious, the back and forth between Nate and Trish is what kept me turning pages. Laurelin can write a resolution for any dang situation, and the way that she brought everything together here was perfect for these characters. 4.5 stars for DFF, which is a must-read for Laurelin fans, especially if you’ve read her other books (although it can be read as a standalone just as well).

Sienna Landry is the rolling stone of the Landry family. All of her siblings have their roles, but she’s, well, she’s still trying to make her way. Adriana Locke has segued very smoothly into this series. The Gibson Boys is a completely new group of characters, but, with Sienna being a Landry, there are plenty of Landry moments, which makes it feel like a visit home. And I absolutely adored every single one of the Gibson family, including Nana, the unquestionable boss of the whole clan. Addy’s got her work cut out for her with this bunch, and I cannot wait to see what she does with Lance, Machlan, and Peck (secret confession: he’s my favorite, mess that he is. ♥︎).

I adore pretty much any book that Addy writes, and CRANK is no exception (see what I did there?). Having read the Landry family series is not a must, as CRANK is a standalone, but it’s nice to know the references, plus, why haven’t you read them? Fans of family series, of privilege versus working class type themes, of several bad boys in one small town, well, put this on your TBR, because it hits all the marks. 4.5 divine stars for CRANK. I can hardly wait to see what Addy does with Lance Gibson when CRAFT comes along. Until then, I’ll be over here, just waiting…

At the empathetic tone in Sean’s voice, Lotti’s heart and stomach and head all clenched in unison. “What do you mean you can’t give me what I want?” she asked. “All you have to do is walk away.”
“Tried that already,” he said. “And it was the biggest mistake of my life.” He brought her hand up to his mouth and met her gaze over their entwined hands.
He was looking at her like . . . well, she wasn’t sure what was going on in his head, but her thoughts were racing along with her pulse.
“You’re incredible, Lotti. I hope you know that.” Very slowly, clearly giving her time to object, he pulled her into him.
Her breath caught at the connection and his eyes heated in response as he slid a hand up her spine and then back down again, pressing her in tight to him from chest to thighs and everywhere in between. His nose was cold at the crook of her neck, but his breath was warm against her skin. She felt his lips press against the sensitive spot just behind her ear and she shivered. “You’re trembling,” he said, his voice low. “Are you cold?”

We’re not-so-slowly wending our way into holiday season 2017, and the books are not only coming, they are here. I’m happily starting to fa-la-la my way through my list of Christmas reads, and HOLIDAY WISHES is making me sohappy.

The last person that Lotti Hartford expected to see in the group of pre-wedding guests that booked the weekend at her B&B is Sean. Because Sean was Lotti’s very first love, her first heartbreak, her first everything, and seeing him now brings up memories that she’d very much prefer remain unremembered, thank you very much. But this Sean is very different from the boy that took her heart and broke it, and he’s bound and determined to make amends, and more.

I’ve loved Sean O’Riley since SWEET LITTLE LIES, the very first book in the Heartbreaker Bay series. He’s the errant youth redeemed, the lost boy that is finally coming home, and seeing him get his HEA makes me all kinds of tingly.

HOLIDAY WISHES is a quick read, but it absolutely hits the spot. Because, not only is it a Christmas book, not only is it a love story, it’s a second chance love story, and second chances can be all the sweeter. This book has all of the things that make it a classic Jill Shalvis story. The close-knit circle of friends, the witty dialogue, a story that immediately feels like a visit to a place that you love, all of these are there, as well as the sexy, romantic, ‘oh, my gosh, my heart’ moments.

A happy addition to my list of must-reads for fans of Jill, feel-good stories, and romance readers that don’t mind a little heat with a lot of heart, HOLIDAY WISHES is a definite 5-star treat, and one that you will love.

We’ll be in the middle of the holiday season before we know it. Soon enough it will be all hustle and bustle, so making time to read books that remind me of the finer things about this time of year is a must. LOVE ME BY CHRISTMAS by author Jaci Burton is just my second seasonal read this year, and it’s a lovely addition to my holiday catalog.

In the five years following the death of Ellie’s husband, John, she has come to rely on his brother, Nick, for pretty much everything. Nick completely stepped up to be the man that Ellie needed in her life, being a friend, a co-parent, and a source of support. They’ve been the best of friends, but, lately, Ellie’s feelings towards Nick are different, and she’s conflicted. She’s grateful for all that Nick has done to give her and her son, Henry, a normal life, but thinking of him as anything more than her brother-in-law is throwing her for a loop. Funny thing, though, because Nick is having some more than brotherly feelings himself, and he’s ready to go all in.

I really enjoyed the comfortable relationship between Ellie and Nick, and the life that they’d created, but, while I understood her reservations about taking things to another level, I think that she made it harder than it had to be. They had already been a couple in every way except taking the step to move beyond friendship to something more. Her concern over what other people would think about them acting on their feelings was frustrating, although somewhat understandable, but I have to admit that I was ready to shake some sense into her by the time she figured things out.

LOVE ME BY CHRISTMAS is both sweet and passionate, with just the right amount of heat. Jaci’s focus on the importance of family and friendship is perfect for the time of year, and made this a 4-star read that is perfect for those looking for a feel-good story with a HEA.

Somehow, Grace managed to pass Graham and get in the bathroom, where she used the time to try to calm the hell down. If she didn’t come up with an excuse to leave this room, something combustible was going to happen between them. She had to get out while she still had all her wits about her.

When she’d finally got her breathing under control, she left the bathroom, walked toward her suitcase, and stubbed her toe on the bed.

She let out a curse and hopped around a little, imagining what she must look like with her bedhead hair, red plaid flannel, and Christmas socks. Very sexy. Unlike the delicious, muscular god walking toward her.

She tried to use the pain to distract herself from how her mouth had suddenly gone dry and her knees felt as wobbly as a one-year-old’s, but it wasn’t really working. Worse, Graham stepped a little closer.

She splayed out her arms, warning him back. All that lean muscle, all that raw, masculine heat—it could not come near her. She would throw herself at him, smooth her hands over all that hard, bountiful muscle, and beg for things. Her body could not be trusted. “I’m fine. Really. Just stubbed my toe.”

“Want me to take a look?”

His gaze was torching her, like paper in a fire that turns immediately to ash and blows away.

He was so close now, she could smell the soap from his shower, see the little beads of water on his shoulders. His fingers gripped her elbow, and she swore it tingled from his touch. Other parts of her were sort of on fire too. So not good. “Let’s see it,” he said, the smile morphing into a wicked grin.

“Graham, I’m fine.” She tried to shrug away. He dropped his hand, but still she felt pinned in place, unable to move or even breathe. Electricity buzzed and snapped between them. She didn’t want him to see how much he affected her, yet she was helpless with him so near.

His gaze homed in on her lips. He was going to…yes, he was. Kiss her. Her heartbeat thrummed in her throat, and every muscle froze in anticipation.

She wanted it. Wanted him. So, so badly.

Graham lowered his mouth. The dip of his head was so familiar, yet it made every nerve stand on end. At last, their lips met. His were soft and pliant, and they brushed against hers, carefully and slowly. Her hand was trembling as she wrapped it around his neck and pulled him toward her until their bodies were flush, fitting together like they were always meant to.

That simple move blew careful and slow right out of the water. His mouth crushed hers, devouring her with deep, sensual kisses. His tongue slid inside her mouth, and she met it with equal vigor, desire roaring and crashing between them, unleashed like a storm surge, uncontrollable and insatiable.

Suddenly, Graham pulled back, out of breath. He cradled her face in his hands and looked at her tenderly. “I missed you,” he said. “I missed this.”

Sometimes love just isn’t enough, as Grace Alberts and Graham Walker found. Sometimes tragedy is more than two people can withstand, and, even deep feelings just won’t hold things together. Although they’ve gone their separate ways, finding themselves in the same place at Christmas opens up all sorts of old feelings. Maybe it’s that Christmas magic…

Second-chance love and a holiday read?! Sign me up! As an unapologetic fan of both Christmas and finding love a second time, CAN’T MISS CHRISTMAS by author Miranda Liasson hit all the marks, and did not disappoint.

Graham and Grace are charming and quirky, and obviously still harbor lasting feelings for each other. Their relationship moves pretty smoothly back into comfortable territory, and once they find themselves riding out a pre-Christmas storm in Mirror Lake, Connecticut, they’ve got nothing but time to figure out just how comfortable. The residents of Mirror Lake are wonderfully unique, and accept the visitors as part of their town with no ceremony whatsoever, and make it really easy for the town and Christmas to work their magic.

CAN’T MISS CHRISTMAS is a novella in Miranda’s Mirror Lake series, but even though I had not read the previous books, I fell right into the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, which kicks off my annual holiday romance fest, and happily recommend it for fans of holiday reads. Bonus, I also got to meet some folks that I’d like to go back and visit very soon.

Oh, my gosh, oh, my gosh, OH, MY GOSH. I have been waiting for MOVE THE STARS, the final book in the Something In the Way series by author Jessica Hawkins for months. MONTHS. Sitting, waiting not so patiently, for Jessica to bring me back from the sob-fest that was the end of SOMEBODY ELSE’S SKY, I had plenty of time to ponder exactly how things would play out. I could not have even imagined what she had in store for Lake and Manning, and I am still in book hangover land.

This entire story gripped me from the first page of the first book, and Jessica did not disappoint with MOVE THE STARS. With truly no idea of what to expect, I was completely sucked into this third book, and could not put it down. With intensity, passion, and angst galore (it’s Jessica Hawkins, after all!), this was a book that I devoured. I mean, unstoppable. There was no way that I could not keep reading to find out the fate of this star-crossed pair.

MOVE THE STARS is one of those reads that made me both uncomfortable and over-the-moon happy, sometimes at the same time. There were times that I found myself wondering what in the world Jessica was thinking, that this was absolutely not the way that things were supposed to go down, but she brought everything together so beautifully, so masterfully, that any reservations were laid to rest, leaving me with a heart full of love for this exquisite story.

MOVE THE STARS is the perfect way to wrap up Lake’s and Manning’s story. It pushed my boundaries, swept me up, and carried me away, and I could not recommend it any more highly. It is 5+ gorgeous and emotional stars, and, along with the rest of the series, ranks in the top of my recommends for 2017.

I haven’t seen Mia in almost a month, since the last time she was in town staying with Max. I didn’t realize she’d be back a full week before her other brother Chase’s wedding, and am I ever glad to see her again.

She makes all parts of me quite happy indeed.

By happy, I mean hard as a rock.

Okay, fine. It’s not like I’m operating at full power this second. I’m thirty-three, not fifteen. I have plenty of self-control in the “when and where to pitch a tent” arena. All I’m saying is this woman gets me going, and I feel that zip down my body when I see her.

She’s on the phone, her eyebrows pinched, her expression harried. She drags her hand through her caramel-blond hair. As I walk closer, I hear her say, “I understand. Yes, I understand. Things happen.”

And that’s the sound of someone being disappointed.

Which is a terrible thing for this sexy-as-a-fiery-sunset woman to experience.

She huffs, rolling her eyes. “I’ve known you for months and you didn’t tell me you had a cat. Friends don’t hide pets from friends.”

She’s not in town that often. She hasn’t ever been to my apartment. And I don’t take Zeus upstairs to Max’s. But I’m not going to state the obvious. I’m going to have a little fun with her. Flirt with her. Because . . . that’s what we do.

“There’s a reason for that.”

Her eyes go wide, and she taps her toe, waiting. I drag a hand through my hair. Evie says my light brown hair is floppy, and she tells me this is a good thing. The ladies love floppy hair, she says. She’s been right so far. My hair’s been a big hit with the ladies, and other parts have, too.

“It’s a good reason,” I add.

As I walk along the trail, the lightening sky keeping me company, I think of Mia, and all the times we’ve shared. I think of our nights, our days, our moments. I’ve been so caught up in whether they’ll become more than that, that I’m not sure I’ve seen them completely for what they are. My perfect days…Mia is the life I’ve imagined. She’s the dream I want to make real.

So, Patrick Milligan. He’s no stranger to fans of Lauren Blakely, having made his first appearance in JOY RIDE, as upstairs neighbor and friend of Max Summers, the very same Max Summers who’s got a sister named Mia…Yes, I am totally in love with Patrick. Why? Because he knows what he wants, and he’s ready to go after it, whether it’s creating the life he wants, or winning the girl. There is no, erm, pussyfooting around for Patrick (yep, see what I did there?). He’s had it bad for Mia from their first meeting, and is all about going all in to make sure that she knows it.

Lauren’s heroines are always strong, self-sufficient women, and each of them has won me over. I adore that Mia is so down-to-earth, making her the perfect foil for Patrick. She’s funny, loyal, and passionate, and her personality shines. Like the ladies in the other books in Lauren’s series of romantic comedies, Mia is someone that I would love to call a friend.

And, then, Zeus. Because, this story would not be complete without Zeus the hiking wonder cat. His inner dialogue is spot on, and, seriously, who else but Lauren would have, as a main character, a cat, let alone one that hikes, rides around town in a backpack, and has his very own Instagram account? We all need a Zeus in our lives.

Lauren is the undisputed queen of the romantic comedy, and HARD WOOD rounds out this series of standalones perfectly (And, as an unabashed fan of epilogues, let me just say that LB never disappoints!). Although Patrick and Mia are the last in this group of friends to get their HEAs, I hope that we’ll see more of everyone in future books. 5 sexy, swoony, ‘oh, my, that shower scene!’ stars for Patrick, Mia, and Zeus.
