Tracey’s Review

Well, they say, if you can’t beat them, join them. And that’s exactly what Natalie Bishop’s done. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of the fire ignited by the Upper East Siders, Natalie is not about to go down without a fight. And she knows just how to give them a fight that they will never forget. But in her quest for revenge, will Natalie lose herself?

The Cruel series by author K.A. Linde is a study in the art of the game. Reading these books is like having a reality show on loop, with drama galore, and shenanigans that you just can’t look away from. As Natalie evolved into the newest version of herself in this last book, I found myself wondering whether there would be the redemption that I was looking for, anything that made the Crew less monstrous than they appeared to be. The intrigue, the backstabbing, the non-stop drama had me waiting and wondering.

Kyla keeps the reader guessing right up until the very end, with twist after turn after jaw-dropping revelation, and the build-up is both nerve wracking and delicious. In the end, she delivers with her usual flair, making both the climb up the rollercoaster and the sheer drop worth every single minute, giving the perfect wrap-up to this series.

Blog Tour-2.jpgExcerpt:

I head straight for the pickup counter, where I see my skinny vanilla latte waiting for me, my name written on the side of the cup in Stella’s familiar scrawl. Without hesitation I grab it, inhaling deeply before I take a sip. Just a tiny sip so I can savor it. I close my eyes for a second, maybe two, and when I open them, I find a guy standing there.

Watching me.

And he’s not just any guy. He’s cute. Wait, no. Not cute. He’s…hot. Dark hair. Blue eyes. Wearing a suit that fits him perfectly. I know just from looking at the fabric that it’s custom. Expensive.

He’s smiling at me. And I’m scowling at him in return because the caffeine hasn’t quite hit my bloodstream yet, so I’m not on top of my game.

“You looked like you were having a moment.” His voice is deep. Rich. His face…vaguely familiar?

I stand a little straighter. Take another sip of my coffee as I contemplate the man in front of me, because for some reason I still can’t come up with anything to say.

Listen, I always have something to say. But this guy. This gorgeous, well-dressed maybe-stranger, is leaving me a little…

Dumbstruck?

Huh.

“That moment you were just having. With your coffee,” he continues, gesturing at the cup I’m clutching in both of my hands, like it’s my baby. Which this morning—every morning—it is.

“She loves coffee,” Stella says from behind me.

Glancing over my shoulder, I give her a look, one that says shush.

“I can see that.” The amusement in his voice is obvious. He thinks it’s funny. The sacred moment I was having with my latte made him smile.

I wouldn’t mind coming up with other ways to make him smile.

Whoa. Where did that thought come from?

“What I want to know is, how did you get such special treatment?”

I blink at him like I’m an uncomprehending idiot. “Excuse me?”

“Well, I’ve been here for the last fifteen minutes. First, standing in line.” He gestures at the line of customers that trails out the door. “And now, waiting for my order.”

Guilt fills me. Just a tiny bit. Sweet Dreams Café is the most popular bakery and coffee shop in Carmel-by-the-Sea. All the tourists love it. All the locals love it too. It’s been in Stella’s family for generations.

“Yet you skip past the line, walk straight in here and grab your ready-made drink within a few seconds of your arrival. Do you have a Fast Pass?” A brow lifts, and I’m hit with a quiver. Like Cupid just drew back his bow and shot that arrow right in my heart.

Or perhaps that arrow struck me in, ahem, other places.

Who knew a brow lift could be so sexy?

Michel’s Review

Whenever Monica Murphy releases a book I know I am for an entertaining read. Save The Date did not disappoint. Save The Date is the first book in The Dating Series and is a charming second chance romance.

A sexy workaholic groom,  a cheating bride who makes Bridezilla seem tame, and a menacing social media haute couture fashion model all make Caroline Abbott’s life crazy. Between her job and these three, she has her hands full. She’s an expert in wedding stationary, she can pick the best save the date cards but what she is not an expert in is the world of the spoiled wealthy elites.

What starts out with a “too early” morning appointment and lack of caffeine turns into a reunion with the boy she shared her first kiss with. While Caroline is thrilled to reconnect with Alex, she’s not so thrilled with his demanding fiance. Pushed into making a rush order is somewhat annoying but when that order is delivered to the store rather than their home, it’s downright aggravating. She is now forced to deliver their order to their home. What she witnesses is not something she wants to share with her old friend Alex. His bride is cheating on him with another man.

Alex Wilder is a workaholic. His family hotel chain demands more of his attention than his bride does. He thought he found the perfect woman, one who understands his work obligations. What he found was a cheating gold digger. Losing his finance hurts his pride more than his heart. It seems like his heart kickstarted when he walked into a coffee shop for a quick cup before a wedding appointment and reconnected with his first crush.

When Caroline spills the beans, she instantly gains a very angry stalker, a new friend who happens to be Alex’s assistant, and a new fake finance. Alex needs a finance to go to Paris with him for business negotiations in purchasing a prominent hotel. It’s not the ideal romantic Parisian trip but it is the perfect way for Caroline and Alex to really reconnect.

I absolutely enjoyed Caroline and Alex’s story. It was fun, sexy, and romantic. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this new series.

I highly recommend Save The Date by Monica Murphy. It is delightful!

Excerpt

“Would you like a beer?” the cute bartender asks me.

I glance at the pile of mint leaves on his cutting board and hesitate. “Sure,” I say. But the mint looks so fresh and pretty.

“I could make you something different.”

“Beer is great. A cold…”

“—lager,” he finishes. “No glass, no opener.”

When I look up to flash him a smile, my heart does a little somersault. Those kind eyes are smiling at me, too. “Thank you,” I whisper.

“It’s really no problem.” He turns toward the beer cooler. “You’re an easy customer, trust me.”

But I really meant—thank you for remembering. As he leans down to grab a bottle for me, I find myself admiring the strong muscles in his back. Stop it, I admonish myself. It only gets worse when he turns around and places the bottle in front of me. I’ve never seen hands like his. I didn’t even know wrists could look muscular.

Even so. Ogling him is not why I came here. I pull out my keychain opener and remove the cap from my beer.

He discards it, gives me another pleasant smile and then picks up his paring knife again.

I take a sip, wondering when he’s going to mention my show at the Coconut Club. He was there. I saw him.

He separates some mint leaves from their stems and says nothing.

I last about seventeen seconds. “Well?”

“Well?” He looks up. “Sorry?”

“Jesus lord.” I close my eyes and then open them again. This is not going how I’d hoped it would. “What did you think?

“Of…?” His amazing eyes are studying me.

“Forget I asked.” I take a swig of beer.

“Think about what?” He pushes the cutting board aside, and his smile turns knowing.

“My set at the Coconut Club! I saw you holding up that wall in the back. Don’t lie.”

He tips his head back and lets out a sudden laugh. “I’m so busted. I loved your show, but I didn’t expect you to spot me.”

“You loved it so much you weren’t going to say anything?” The sentence sounds crazy to my own ears. I put down the beer. “You know what? Never mind. I’m just being psycho right now. This town is getting into my head.”

“Listen, girly.” He braces both (muscular!) hands on the bar and looks me right in the eye. “I loved it so much that I don’t even know what to say about it. From that moment at the beginning—when you shut that asshole’s maw? To the part where you made a lady cry.” He shakes his head. “I couldn’t look away. And I never wanted it to end.”

I give him a slow blink, just trying to take that in. It’s so much more than I was even hoping to hear.

“Shit, Delilah. If that set doesn’t win you whatever contract you’re looking for, they don’t even deserve you.”

Something warm and unfamiliar settles into the center of my belly. “That might be the nicest thing anyone ever said to me. Which only means you’re still trying to get my phone number.”

He laughs immediately. “Can’t both things be true? Both my musical assessment and my interest in your evening plans?”

“Because you know so much about music.” I flip my hair and take another sip of beer.

“Look. I don’t know shit about music. But I know plenty about talent.” He leans down on a set of forearms I shouldn’t be noticing. “I know that talent sometimes takes a nap at just the wrong moment, but it never stays asleep for long. I also know that luck matters, too. If they don’t give you what you want, it won’t be your fucking fault.”

“Thank you,” I say quietly.

But he’s not done. “I saw something else valuable the other night. You’re good in the clinch. And that counts for double, I swear to God.”

“The clinch?”

“Yeah. You’re not just good at practice.” He pauses, wrinkling up his interesting nose. “What word would a musician use? Okay—you’re not a rehearsal musician. That stage was like your home. Either that or you fake it really well. That’s going to pay your rent someday, I promise.”

“Wow.” It’s like he looked right into my terrified little soul and found the very thing I needed to hear. Those beautiful eyes of his are practically burning me right now, so I have to look away. “Thank you. Really. I really needed that pep talk.”

I make the mistake of looking up at him again, and, for a split second, I see pure yearning. It’s like our souls vibrate at exactly the same frequency. And I have no idea what to do with that.

Michel’s Review

Superfan by Sarina Bowen is more than a new addition to the Bruisers Series. This book brings the Brooklyn Bruisers Hockey Team full circle. We met Silas Kelly, the rookie goalie, in the first book of the series where he struggled to hold onto his position. His athletic abilities and talent to guard the net just needed to mesh with his psyche. He proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he belonged with the Bruisers. He also proved that he was a stand up guy that his teammates could depend on no matter what. He’s proven his worth in the professional arena, he’s accomplishing his career goals, and he’s made lifetime friends. He only has one regret is Delilah , the one he let get away in order to save his hockey career. The girl who he felt connected to the moment they met. Delilah Spark is now one of the biggest rising pop stars in the music industry and doesn’t even know his real name.

Delilah Spark was trying to get her big break in the music industry the day she walked into the bar for a much needed break and beer. The cute bartender, Ralph, made her laugh and forget all the frustrations in her career. This guy was perfect and down on his luck just like she was. The first time he kissed her it made her realize she might need more than her music.  She finally agrees to a date with Ralph only to be stood up. Three years later she’s had her big break but she still remembers the cute bartender who disappeared when she was just a struggling girl with a guitar. A controlling manager, a hijacked album, and unbreakable contract have stalled her career. It’s time for changes in her life. Who knew a hockey game and a twitter challenge would change everything. It’s a good thing she’s a girl who likes a challenge.

Silas and Delilah reconnect and their passion for one another is exploding. These two were meant to be together. Delilah needed a good guy by her side. Silas needed a girl who would appreciate a “nice guy”.  Now they have both made it and their careers have become very demanding. Living on different coasts with very conflicting schedules is going to be challenging but this time around they aren’t going to let it tear them apart. First they have to deal with Delilah’s career interruptions, their public affair, and the entire nosy, medling Bruiser Team entourage. No worries… Georgia can manage their public images & dates, Heidi can manage their day to day needs, Rebecca can keep the Bruisers in line, Nate can keep Silas employed, and the rest of the guys can become  Delilah and The Sparkle Puppies fan club members if all else fails.

I just love everything Sarina Bowen writes. She brings every character to life and makes their story unforgettable. They jump off the pages and demand your full attention. Her romances are blazing hot while being extremely tender. I love that she keeps includes the former characters from previous books and lets their unique personalities help the hero & heroine find their true love.

I highly recommend reading Superfan by Sarina Bowen! Silas and Delilah will melt your heart one mojito at a time.

The Lemon Sisters by Jill Shalvis

Release Date: June 18, 2019

LemonSisters cover.jpeg

The Lemon Sisters, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Jill Shalvis.

When Brooke’s older sister, Mindy, shows up at her door with her three kids in tow, she barely recognizes her sibling who looks like she’s on the verge of a total breakdown. While adventurous, wanderlust Brooke was always the problem child, eager to slip free of Wildstone and its small-town constraints, Mindy was the golden child, who never had a hair out of place or a GPA below 4.0. The Mindy that arrives at Brooke’s apartment however, is a far cry from the ever-perfect doctor’s wife.

Brooke’s further stunned when Mindy asks to trade places with her for a few days so she can pick up her pieces and put herself back together. What Mindy doesn’t realize is that Brooke is just as broken. Her sister needs her though, so Brooke takes the kids and returns to Wildstone.

But how does one go home after seven years away and what feels like a lifetime of secrets? It doesn’t take long for Brooke to come face-to-face with her past, in the form of one tall, dark, sexy mistake. But Garrett’s no longer interested, or so he says. Only his words don’t match his actions, leaving Brooke feeling things she long ago shoved deep.

The sisters begin to wonder if the childhood taunts were true, are they lemons in life? In love? True or not, they know one thing—you can’t run far enough to outpace your demons. And when long-dead secrets surface, they’ll have to overcome their differences and learn that sometimes the one person who can help you the most is the one you never thought to ask.

Excerpt:

“Okay,” she said. “Time for me to go to bed.”

“Or you’re running,” he said. “Again.”

She closed her eyes and told herself to ignore the soft taunt. No matter what they’d been – or hadn’t been – to each other, she wasn’t looking for love with anyone, and certainly not a wash and repeat with the one man who could destroy her. It wasn’t as if she’d been a monk. She’d dated, but she hadn’t let anyone in. Not ever. Even Cole had complained about the brick walls she’d encased her emotions in.

And he was right. She could get involved to a point, but she always pulled back.

“You don’t have to run from me, you know,” Garrett said. “There’s no reason for there to be anything but honesty between us.”

Yes, there was… “Maybe I’m just not feeling it.”

Another soft laugh. “Okay.”

“Hey,” she said and poked a finger in his pec. His hard, ungiving, sexy pec. “If I was feeling it, you’d know.”

“Yeah? How?” he challenged.

“I’d be …flirty. I certainly wouldn’t be thinking of all of your faults.”

He grinned. How like a man to not be worried about his faults.

“So what are these so-called faults?” he asked, curious. Still not concerned.

“Well, for starters, you’re wearing black knit boxers with bananas on them.”

This made him laugh outright. “Someone sent me a subscription box. They come once a month. Last month’s pair had cocks all over them.”

“Like … chickens, or…?”

He was still smiling. “If you’re curious, I’ll be happy to wear them tomorrow and give you a peek.”

“Whatever,” she said. “And the fact that some woman sent you a subscription to undies is another reason I’m not feeling it. You’ve stayed friends with every single person you’ve ever met.”

“And that’s a fault?”

She shrugged. Of course it wasn’t a fault. It was the opposite of a fault. “Well, except for me, of course.”

“Because you don’t answer phone calls, texts, emails…” He tilted his head. “Tell me something.”

Oh boy. “What?”

“Why did you and your last boyfriend break up? That Cole guy.”

“I told you, he’s my boss.”

“But you’re sleeping together,” he said, his eyes holding hers prisoner. “Or you were.”

“How do you know that?”

He smiled grimly. “You just told me.”

Dammit. She crossed her arms over her chest. “We’re not together if that’s what you’re asking.”

“Why?”

“Why what?” she asked.

“Why aren’t you together?” he pressed.

“Because I don’t like him like that.”

Did his eyes warm very slightly, or was that her imagination? “Because you’re just not feeling it?” he asked mockily, using her words.

She rolled her eyes. “You think you’re funny. How about we talk about you. Tell me about the girlfriend you said you don’t have. The one who called you the other day for a hookup.”

“It wasn’t a hookup. She dumped me.”

She snorted. “Right. You expected me to believe a guy who looks like you do, and is funny and smart like you are, got dumped?”

“Actually, I expect you to believe whatever I tell you.” He shifted close until they were knee to knee. “Because I’ve never lied to you, Brooke. Never will.”

Tracey’s Review

Our earliest relationships, the ones with our families, are often the ones that define us, prepare us for all of the others that will come after. Sisters Mindy and Brooke Lemon were, once, closer than close, the best of friends, but time and circumstance have brought distance. When Mindy, always the perfectly in control sister, shows up in Brooke’s life after seven years, she’s a version of herself that Brooke doesn’t recognize. Brooke shook off the dust of Wildstone years ago, but agrees to go back to take care of Mindy’s life back home. Brooke has ghosts of her own in Wildstone, and going back may be the hardest thing she’s ever done…

Goodness gracious, how I loved this book. I mean, it’s Jill Shalvis, so that was a given, but THE LEMON SISTERS is just the book that I needed to read right now. I love all of Jill’s books, every single one of them, no matter the series, but there’s really something special about the Wildstone books, and this one delivered in every way. The place, the characters, their stories, these books are more than the average romance, and ones that immediately end up on my favorites list.

I adored every one of the main characters in THE LEMON SISTERS. “Carefree, but not really” Brooke, “Wife/woman on the verge” Mindy, “Checked out but ready to change” Linc, and Garrett, the “broody, moody, still in love but can’t open up” man that Brooke left behind all those years ago. Communication, forgiveness, and the willingness to change are themes that each of them have to deal with, and Jill has written a story that gave them, and me, the closure that they are looking for. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I fell in love with Mindy’s kids and Garrett’s menagerie. They really just made this story even more special.

THE LEMON SISTERS, and the other two books in the Wildstone series, are not Jill’s standard style, but they are a breath of fresh air, and a welcome addition to my TBR. Fans of not only romance, but women’s fiction, will enjoy them, and I highly recommend them.

Michel’s Review
Why haven’t I read any Teagan Hunter books prior to her latest release? A Pizza My Heart is a fun, witty, sexy friends to lovers, second chance romance. I instantly fell in love with both characters and their sassy, snarky, quick witted personalities. I easily related to both of them because they were pleasantly ordinary people with ordinary baggage and ordinary problems. They could easily be your friend, neighbor, co-worker, or sibling. Tegan Hunter’s writing brought them to life in a fun, memorable sexy romp. Who knew falling in love was as delectable as a mouth watering piece of pizza.
Wren Daniels and her twin brother became friends with Foster Martlett when they were thirteen. The three were inseparable until Foster up and moved to California to marry a girl he met at the beach over the summer. Wren was devastated when Foster left because she felt like she lost more than a friend but another brother. Four years later Foster Martlett is back, sitting in her section with a date at the Slice, her father’s restaurant. The date is definitely not his wife and she’s definitely not old enough for him.
Foster is back in town after a disastrous marriage which ended in a nasty divorce and bad credit score. He’s sleeping on Winston’s couch (a sketchy resting place) until he can get his life situated.  Foster isn’t  back to lick his wounds. He’s back to claim the life and the love he should of claimed when was twenty-two. He’s ready to start building a life at home among friends and family. The first thing he does is gets back in the saddle and starts using a questionable dating app. Mistake number one is using the LustStruck dating App. Mistake number two is taking the dates to the Slice where Wren works. Mistake number three is letting Drew, Wren’s best friend and co-worker, convince him to practice dating again before actually dating. Best mistake of all is practice dating with Wren Daniels, the girl who has always owned his heart. Challenge accepted, he’s ready to win Wren’s heart. He’s going to date Wren so hard that she won’t know what hit her.
This book had me hooked within the very first chapter. I was rolling with laughter and loved every single character. The sexy, sassy banter was creative as well as snarky. The build-up and sexual tension had me fanning myself. I think what I loved most is these two just fell in love like normal people. There wasn’t a huge fight or cause for separation that required an epic reconciliation. There was no drama or angst, just perfect ordinary romance. My heart melted and I want more from this series.
For a fun, sexy rom-com… A Pizza My Heart by Teagan Hunter is the perfect book!

New Release + Release Blitz + 5 Star Review: Letters To Molly by Devney Perry

Molly Alcott didn’t expect
to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between
bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over
fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the
man she’ll never forget.

Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in
the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a wound. Each holds the
confession of the man who still owns Molly’s heart.

The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be
told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.

Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one
sending them.

Tracey’s Review
Finn and Molly Alcott are meant to be together. From the very beginning, from their first meeting, Finn knew it. But after meeting them in THE BIRTHDAY LIST, it didn’t seem like there was any way that there was ever going to be anything but animosity and bitterness between the two of them. There had been, after all, a betrayal, one big enough to end them as a couple. Two people that seemed destined to be two halves of a whole, meant to be together forever, had reached their end. Fast forward, six years. While they may not exactly be friends, Finn and Molly have reached a place where they can co-parent their kids, both take part in family gatherings, and stand to spend time around each other. They’ve reached a detente, of sorts, and things are working. And then, the letters begin to arrive…

Devney Perry is one of my go-to authors. She serves up small-town love stories with equal parts passion and angst, writing characters with back stories that draw readers in and make them part of the world that she’s created. I was all in with LETTERS TO MOLLY, Devney’s follow-up to THE BIRTHDAY LIST, from the very beginning. Why? Because the kernels of Finn’s and Molly’s stories had been planted in the first book, and I wanted more than anything to see how things had evolved for them.

I generally enjoy a second-chance love story, and LETTERS TO MOLLY is second chance done right. Alternating between the past, via Finn’s letters, and current events, Devney paints a story of two people that have the opportunity to look back at what brought them together, what went wrong, and finally make their way back to each other.

LETTERS TO MOLLY is a five star read for me, and one of my favorites this year. Like THE BIRTHDAY LIST before it, this is a book of new beginnings, of love recovered, and the opportunity for hearts to be healed and made whole. This is a book that will stay with me for a long time to come, and is one that I highly recommend.

Blurb:
Look, she started it.

She issued me a challenge I couldn’t back down from. Make her purr like no man has done before.

Fine, she’s my business partner’s daughter. All right, I’m also working in the same damn practice with her. Yes, she happens to be my ex-fling. But that was seven years ago, and it was barely a week-long thing.

Except, Sloane is still the one I can’t stop thinking of — brilliant, sexy, captivating Sloane. Maybe a week of taking her to new heights will get her out of my head.

So what if we spend a few nights on the town too? So what if I romance her across Manhattan? It’s all in the name of scientific pursuit of more magnificent Os.

Until the rules change…

Excerpt
I meet Sloane’s gaze then go for it. Because this night has only one destination. “We should go to Tahiti.”

“Tonight?”

“Too long a flight?”

She lets go of my hand and holds up her thumb and forefinger. “Maybe a little. Not that I’m turning down a trip to Tahiti. Wait? Are you saying you want to take me to Tahiti? Because I can pack like that.”

Smiling, I slide my hand to her ass, squeezing. I whisper roughly in her ear, “I’m saying I’d like to escape with you. Like we’re getting away for the night. Let’s fuck away all this hot, wild desire.”

She exhales then goes quiet, perhaps lost in thought. “But I thought we were going to resist kissing.”

I brush the backs of my fingers along her jaw. “We already failed that test.”

She pouts. “I was supposed to be an un-vixen.”

“Didn’t work. You’re the opposite, and I want you so fucking much.” I press against her. “You have me so wound up. I’m pretty sure you’re wound up too.”

She pushes back. “You know I am. You know I want you too. That was never the issue.”

I have to get closer to her. I need to have her. “Let’s give in. Just once.” I slide my fingers into her hair, she leans her head against my palm, and I continue making my case. “I can take you places. I can make you feel extraordinary, like I’ve always wanted to.”

She hums. “You’re making it hard to say no.”

“True. I’m very hard to resist.”

A smile spreads across her face. “You are, Malone. You’re terribly, impossibly hard to resist.” She nibbles on her bottom lip. “One night. Our secret. What happens in Tahiti stays in Tahiti.”

“Absolutely,” I say as my dick high-fives me.

“And where is this alternate universe?”

I curl my fingers around her hip bone. “My place isn’t far. There’s also a hotel down the block. Either way, I intend to strip you naked, get my lips all over you, and make you feel as fucking good as you looked when you were watching me sing.”

She shudders. “I looked good when I was watching you? How so?”

I run my thumb over her hip, rubbing in slow, sensual circles. “You’re so seductive. You looked so incredibly alluring. You looked exactly as you are—the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.” My fingers stray to her belly, gliding down the fabric of her dress toward my final destination. “And you and I have unfinished business.”

She leans her head back, and the most delicious moan ever recorded escapes her lips. When she raises her face, she tap-dances her fingers down my chest then runs them over the silk of my tie. “Are you saying we’re going to finish the business tonight?”

“Yes, and then tomorrow . . . we can be friends again.” The thought pains me, but I know this is the only way to deal with our reality.

“Exactly,” she says, nodding her agreement. “We take a trip tonight. We get away to a remote island. And tomorrow we go back to the real world?” She’s seriously considering this. Hell, I’ve already considered it six ways to Sunday in the span of ten seconds, and I say it’s a brilliant plan.

“Let me take care of you tonight. Let me spend the night worshipping your body and driving you wild with pleasure.”

“You say these things . . .”

I grin. “And?”

“And you make it impossible to walk away.” She grabs my tie and tugs my face inches from hers. “But what do you think my voice says?”

I want her to say it. The permission must come from her, and I’m dying for it. “You tell me.”

She brings her mouth to my ear and whispers, hot and sexy, “It says take me to Tahiti. Fuck me hard. Fuck me good. Fuck me senseless.”

That’s the only voice I’m listening to tonight.

Falling in love is easy…

New Hope, South Carolina is my home. It’s where I grew up, got into trouble, and fell in love for the first time. Scarlett Kincaid was more than the girl next door, she was my best friend, until she decided that small town life wasn’t for her. One minute she was here, and the next she was gone.

The girl I used to fish with down at the creek is now the biggest name in country music. She headlines world tours, has won four Grammys, and I haven’t seen her since. Until today when she sped through town in her fancy car. One look at her big brown eyes was all it took to stir up a whole slew of emotions. Emotions I’d long ago buried and sure as hell don’t have time for.

It’s the aftermath that’s hard…

There are two things in my life that matter. My music, and my dad. Twelve years ago, I packed a bag and chased my dream. Leaving New Hope and escaping the gossip mill was the easiest decision I ever made. I never planned to return, but my father needs me, and he always comes first. So, I did what I had to do. I cut my tour short and came home, despite having a sister who hates me, and a community that doesn’t trust me. And then there’s Tucker Andrews.

When he propped an arm on the roof of my car, pulled down his sunglasses and flashed his police badge, I nearly swallowed my tongue. Gone is the lanky boy who used to throw rocks at me and pull my pigtails. Tucker is now a six-foot package of brawny, sexy man wrapped in more muscle than I have hit singles. Did I mention he’s a cop and a single dad?

My goal was to help Dad, and get back to my life. But what am I supposed to do when the life that used to strangle me suddenly fits like a glove, and makes me dream of things I never thought I’d have? What happens when the boy I walked away from years ago becomes one of the most important people in my life? I don’t have room for a man much less love.

Right?

Because it’s impossible to hold onto someone who’s already gone.

About Kristen:

Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

 Regret Duet – Book One

By Aly Martinez

Blurb:

Every little girl dreams of the fairytale. The one where the white knight rushes in to save her from the clutches of evil. They fall in love, have babies, and live happily ever after.

By that definition, my life should have been a fairytale too.

When I was eight years old, Caven Hunt saved me from the worst kind of evil to walk the Earth. It didn’t matter that I was a kid. I fell in love with him all the same.

But that was where my fairytale ended.

Years later, a one-night stand during the darkest time imaginable gave us a little girl. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good.

At the end of every fairytale, the happily-ever-after is the one thing that remains consistent. It wasn’t going to be mine, but there hadn’t been a night that passed where I hadn’t prayed that it would be hers.

I owed Caven my life.

However, I owed that innocent child more.

And that included ripping the heart from my chest and facing her father again.

Excerpt:

Life had never been easy for me. Chaos had been following me like a dark cloud, looming and hovering, casting its shadow far and wide despite how bright the path in front of me should have appeared. After growing up the way I had, where happiness had been more of a privilege than a choice, I knew better than to believe that that moment would be anything other than fleeting.

And one second later, the universe proved me right.

I opened the door to see who had rung the bell—a cursory check revealed an empty hallway.

And that’s when I heard it: the sound that changed not only my entire life in the present, but my life for all future days to come.

At first, it was just a grunt, but as if that baby could feel my gaze, the minute my eyes made contact, it let out a sharp cry.

Confusion hit me like a lightning bolt, sending me back a step. I used the door frame for balance as I took in the yellow blanket with a hole only big enough to reveal a pale-pink face.

“What the fuck?” I breathed. Glancing around the hall, I waited for someone to jump out and start laughing. When no one spoke up to issue a punchline, I took a step closer and repeated, “What the fuck?”

I was utterly unable to process the absurdity in front of me.

Of course, I knew the facts.

It was a baby.

On my doorstep.

Alone.

But the why in that equation was glaringly absent.

“Uhhh,” Ian drawled, peering over my shoulder. “Why is there a kid at your door?”

“I have no idea,” I replied, staring down at the squirming and now-screaming bundle. “It was just there when I opened the door.”

Ian shoved me to the side so he could stand beside me. “You’re shitting me, right?”

“Does it look like I’m shitting you?”

He looked from me to the baby, then back again. “How did it get there?”

We were two incredibly smart men who had created a technology empire out of nothing. But, clearly, a baby was too big for either of us to wrap our minds around.

I swept an arm out and pointed to the kid. “I have no clue, but I’m assuming it didn’t catch a cab.”

A light of understanding hit his eyes. He moved first, stepping over the crying baby and hurrying down the hall, searching around the corner near the elevator before returning alone.

The party continued behind me, but even with the door open, the loud chatter was no match for the ear-piecing cries happening in that hallway.

Veronica suddenly appeared beside me, her body going solid as she stammered out. “Is that…a baby?”

“Back up,” I urged, throwing my arm out to block her path as though the infant were going to suddenly morph into a rabid animal. And let’s be honest, I knew nothing about babies. Anything was possible.

Ian dropped to his knees, scooping up the wailing child. Meanwhile, I stood there like a gawking idiot, paralyzed by a weight I didn’t yet understand.

“Call the pol—” He stopped abruptly and reached into the top of the child’s blanket. “Oh shit,” he whispered, his wide, panic-filled eyes flashing to mine.

“What?” I asked, stepping toward him to get a better look at the kid. Only it wasn’t that tiny baby cradled in his arms that made my heart stop and bile rise in my throat.

There, in my best friend’s hand, was a folded piece of notebook paper that had been tucked into the child’s blanket. From the looks of it, the paper was unremarkable in every sense of the word. Blue lines, white spaces, hanging remnants from where it had been haphazardly ripped from a spiral bound notebook. Even the crease was crooked. But it was my name scrawled on the outside in messy, black ink that made it the most remarkable paper in existence.

I snatched it from his hand and, with blood roaring in my ears, opened it.

Caven,

I’m sorry. I never meant for this to happen. This is our daughter Keira. I’ll love her forever. Take care of her the way I can’t.

Written with regret,

Hadley

The hall began to spin, my head feeling like every ounce of blood had been drained from my body. The thundering in my ears faded and the loud chatter of my guests, who were suddenly aware that something was happening at the door, roared to life.

And then the chaos finally found me all over again—the past playing out in my head like my life flashing before my eyes.

I sucked in a deep breath and looked at the baby in his arms. The blanket had fallen off its head just enough to reveal a patch of fine hairs, more orange than its mother’s red.

“Call the police,” I declared, turning on a toe and walking back into my apartment, leaving Ian standing in the hall with Hadley’s child.

Shoving through the crowd of concerned onlookers, I headed straight to the bottles of liquor lining the counter. I didn’t bother with ice or even a glass. I threw back that bottle of vodka, hoping like hell the burn of the alcohol could numb the panic coursing through my veins.

Through it all, that baby never stopped crying.

Michel’s Review

Aly Martinez is the queen of cliffhangers. In her latest release Written In Regret, book one of the Regret Duet, she has once again floored her readers with a mind blowing cliffhanger. The cliffhanger leaves her readers wanting the final book yesterday! Readers won’t have to wait long for the final book, Written With You.

Hadley and Caven share more than a horrific past from their youth, they also share a precious child from a disastrous one night stand. Hadley not only left with Caven’s wallet and laptop, she also left with his DNA. Nine months later she is returning Caven’s precious DNA on his doorstep.  Rather than celebrating his six hundred million fortune he is gifted with a new born baby girl. His baby. He is forced become a father rather than a playboy millionaire conquering the world. Who knew fatherhood would become his most successful and rewarding endeavor?

Four years later Hadley’s back and she wants her baby. Caven is not going to let Hadley steal the most precious thing in his life, his daughter. He’s not even willing to share her for a few moments. The only problem is the DNA test proves she is her mother and she has a very good lawyer. Caven is willing to sacrifice his millions to keep his daughter. The law says he must compromise, his heart says he needs to hold her tight, his head says to be patient and diligent. He has no choice, Hadley is back in their lives and it looks like it is permanent.

The one thing Caven has learned is people are not always what they appear to be on the surface. Hadley is not the same woman from four years ago. He also knows he is responsible for the demons that caused Hadley to run in the first place. It’s his fault that she was so broken. Where has she been for the past four years? What else is she hiding?

Hadley is having to earn Caven’s trust and respect. She wants more than a shared past and limited moments with her daughter. She wants both their love. She still has secrets that could destroy everything and Caven’s older brother ,who is a cop. is figuring it out.

CLIFFHANGER!

Aly Martinez is the queen of delivering emotional cliffhangers. The Regret duet is going to be a page turner that keeps the readers captivated.

Written In Regret by Aly Martinez is pure gold!

New Release + Release Blitz + Excerpt: Breaking Without You by Carrie Ann Ryan

BREAKING WITHOUT YOU by Carrie Ann Ryan is available today! Get your hands on the first book in her new contemporary romance series, Fractured Connections, now!

About BREAKING WITHOUT YOU

Available April 16, 2019

From NYT bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan, comes a brand new series where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew.

I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time. And when he left, I thought my life was over. But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant. Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one. Though given that our families have been forced together after losing one of our own, I know there’s no turning back. Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

~~

I never wanted to hurt Violet Knight, but there were reasons I had to leave all those years ago—not that she’d believe me if I told her what they were. I not only left her, I also left my foster brothers. Honestly, I didn’t want to come back to Denver to help run my father’s failing brewery. But when it comes to my brothers, I know I’ll find a way to make it work. Perhaps I’ll even earn Violet’s forgiveness and face the connection we both thought long forgotten in the process. Because I wanted her then, but now I know I need her. I just hope she needs me.

Read an excerpt from BREAKING WITHOUT YOU:

My head was fuzzy, and it wasn’t just because of the liquor in my system. No, it was because of the man in front of me, the one who currently had his lips pressed to mine. This was such a mistake. This was beyond a mistake. I should have found a way to get into my own ride share and gone home on my own.

But when Beckham asked me on the way back to the pool room if I wanted to get into Cameron’s car or go home alone, I had said that, of course, I wanted to go with Cameron.

Yes, I was drunk, and I was making poor decisions. But, apparently, Beckham thought he was a matchmaker. And he hadn’t wanted me to be forced into a situation I wasn’t comfortable with.

So, yes, while he was a nice man, I was still going to beat him up. Just like I was going to hurt Cameron.

But all thoughts of that fled my mind when Cameron’s hand slid through my hair to cup the back of my head and pull me closer to him. I wrapped my arms around his waist, pressing my body against his as I kissed him even harder. I had forgotten what his kisses felt like. I had forgotten what he felt like. Yes, he was larger than he had been even seven years ago, more muscular, a little sharper-edged. But he still felt like Cameron.

My Cameron.

Yes, I was drunk, but I wasn’t drunk enough to actually think that he was mine.

Yet I couldn’t stop kissing him.

I just wanted to feel. I just wanted to be. I didn’t want to think about Allison, I didn’t want to think about work, I didn’t want to think about my ex-husband and his new wife, I didn’t want to think about the fact that I still had to worry about the rest of Allison’s stuff.

I didn’t want to think about what life would be like without her.

So, I just kissed Cameron. I knew it was selfish, knew this was all a mistake.

But I didn’t stop.

He was the one that pulled away first. And then he leaned his forehead against mine and let out a ragged breath.

“What are we doing?” he asked, his voice rough.

“I don’t know, but I want to keep doing it.”

He pulled back, his brows lowered as he frowned.

“If we do this, it’s going to change everything. We’re not kids anymore.”

“It meant something when we were kids too, though. And I just want to feel. I know it’s all complicated, and I know that this is wrong and stupid. But I have just enough liquor in me to make me brave enough to say it, though not enough where I’ll be taking advantage of you, or you’ll be taking advantage of me.”

He studied my face. “I would say that that’s just the right amount of liquor, the right amount of drunk. But I can’t take advantage of you.”
