One month shy of eighteen, one year shy of college, and eighteen long years of being a dirty little secret is more than Rachel Kress can handle. Like most things in life there are two sides to every story. Rachel is a casualty. She is also a gift for Frederick Richards, a man who lost himself many years ago to become Freddy Ricks. He’s not perfect and he’s not trying to become the perfect father. He just wants to get to know his daughter and show her all sides to his very flawed personality.
Both Rachel and Frederick are going through life changes. Their lives are on very separate paths that are colliding together in a imperfect yet beautiful way.
Sometimes it’s not about forgiveness but about acceptance. The willingness to open your heart to love without conditions. Loving is never a bad thing, it is what makes you a better person.
Sarina Bowen has this gift of bringing characters to life in a very realistic, humbling way. I think every reader of every age can identify with the characters. While one character is just beginning her path in life the other is learning to change theirs. I absolutely loved this book.
