Sawyer Bennett has a fabulous new series featuring hot hockey players. The Cold Fury series is a Stanley Cup win! I am addicted to the Cold Fury icemen.
Alex is book one in the Cold Fury series. He is a superstar player on the ice with a very nasty attitude. He is not a team player. He has anger issues that follow him outside of the rink. He is the most hated player in the league and on his team. Does he care? Hell no! He is biding his time, playing the game as long as he can, socking his money away, and looking forward to giving the sport his preverbal finger when he no longer has to play. But until that time he has to jump through the hoops and learn to play nice. Management has ordered him to fix his public image and do community service.
What starts out as a mandatory visit to help social worker Sutton Price with her anti drug project turns into more than wanting to get into her pants. She has a way of drawing people in with an understanding smile, a non judgmental attitude, and actions that speak louder than words. Beta by Jasinda Wilder is the sequel to Alpha. It is quite different from Alpha and came as a complete surprise. I was thoroughly hooked from the first paragraph until the very end. When I finished, I wanted more ! I cannot to see what happens next.
Beta is a much darker book than Alpha and cannot be read as stand alone novel. Alpha sets the perimeters for Beta. Beta is more of an erotic romantic suspense novel that delves into a darker subject matter. In good conscience I must warn readers that this book might touch upon some of their hard core reading limits. This is not a New Adult / traditional Contemporary romance novel.

Alpha created mixed reactions among readers because many of Jasinda Wilder fans were used to the New Adult genre. She clearly classifies the book in the Erotic Romance genre. Many of her fans were expecting a romance that was similar to her New Adult and Contemporary novels where the formats focused on emotional angst and new love. Alpha clearly focused on the sensuality and sexual side that is expected in an Erotic Romance. If you are looking for a sensually hot read that has an strong element of suspense combined with erotic romance, Beta is the book to read.
Beta picks up where Alpha left off. Roth and Kyrie have built a strong relationship based upon love, respect, and chemistry. They are traveling the world and celebrating their newfound love for one another. All seems perfect in their lives until Roth’s past comes back to haunt them in a horrific way.
Roth has disappeared, people are trying to kill Kyrie, and she is stranded in France alone. One phone call to Roth’s security specialist, Harrison, sets the wheels in motion. Kyrie and Harrison will have to infiltrate the dark underworld of one of the most powerful crime families in the world. They will have to risk their lives to save Roth’s life.
Roth’s past has come back to claim him. His past business affairs and life style delved into the other side of legal business practices. It will take the strength of their love to heal the horrific atrocities they survived.
The love that Roth and Kyrie share is strong and resilient. Their commitment to one another is the only way to defeat their enemies. Their passion for one another will heal their souls.
Just when the reader feels good about Roth and Kyrie finally finding the peace they need for their future, Jasinda will drop the bomb. The ending is a cliffhanger that will make the readers scream for more.
Jasinda Wilder brought her A game with Beta. I was glued to the pages. She wrote a beautiful romance that survived the ugliest depths of humanity. I am hoping that we will see more of Roth and Kyrie’s romance in the future. I am hoping that Harrison will get a book as well.
I highly recommend Beta. It is a dark, thrilling, erotic romance.

Left Behind by Vi Keeland and Dylan Scott was amazing. It was an emotional book that took the characters on a journey into the past as well as dealing with the present and finding the hope in the future. The characters were compelling. The readers could easily identify with their lives.
Left Behind starts out in a very different format than most books. There are duo story lines that are completely separate from one another. These duo story lines feature the leading characters and their lives. Once the reader gets a good grip on who they are and how they have been molded by their life experiences, the stories begin to join together. It moves forward to present day. The two characters are brought together by coincidence. As they begin a special friendship, they come to realize that even though their circumstances are different, they have more in common than they thought. They understand each other’s emotional pain that has affected them both deeply. Soon the friendship evolves into a beautiful love affair that is healing their souls and giving them hope for the future. But the past has a way of catching up with them and tears the beautiful bonds to shreds. Secrets will be exposed that will fracture their souls. Fate brought them together, fate is tearing them apart. Can they change their destiny and make Fate their champion. True love will always survive if you are willing to open your heart.
Zack Martin loved one girl his entire life. Emily was his best friend. Their friendship moved forward into a committed relationship. Zack and Emily are on the fringes of adulthood and maturity. Jon shakes his head. “It’s weird, because I’d never really thought about ‘love’ when it came to my dad. It wasn’t something I’d ever really looked for. I knew some kids had that–hell, I knew you had that, with the way your dad doted over you–but I just assumed you were all lucky, or special, or somehow extraordinary. Contessa by Lori Otto
If you have not read the Emi Lost & Found series, this review may contain spoilers.
Do you remember your first true love? Do you remember the passion, the overwhelming feelings that you experienced? For me, everything felt incredibly intense. I felt completely safe in the arms of my partner, as if nothing from the outside world could hurt me. I existed in an imaginary bubble. I felt protected. Imagine experiencing your first love at the age of sixteen. When you couple the experience of falling in love with teenage hormones, you have a real recipe for drama, angst and heartbreak. The immaturity and inexperience of a teenager makes it especially hard to maintain an ongoing relationship. Author Lori Otto has done a fantastic job of capturing this scenario in Contessa as Livvy Holland falls in love with Jon Scott.
Although not required, I recommend reading the Emi Lost & Found series before beginning Contessa. There are events, family history and background information found in that series that is extremely relevant to the Choisie series. Reading the Emi Lost & Found novels will help you to appreciate and better understand the family dynamic found in Contessa. As an extension of the Emi Lost & Found series, the Choisie series focuses on the adopted daughter of a wealthy philanthropist and his wife who live in Manhattan.
Olivia Sophia Holland was adopted by Jackson and Emi Holland at the age of four. At the beginning of Contessa, Olivia is nearing the age of sixteen when she is reunited with Jon Scott. Jon and Livvy previously shared a workspace at Nate’s Art Room, a program for underprivileged kids who show promise with the arts. Livvy is a talented and flourishing artist. Although clearly not from an underprivileged home, she has been allowed to attend classes because both of her parents are part of the foundation for Nate’s Art Room. Jon is two years older than Livvy, but his age difference doesn’t deter him from approaching her father to ask for permission to date her when she turns sixteen.
Relationships are a primary focus in Contessa. Livvy is young, but she is at the age where she wants to exert her independence. She has always had a close relationship with both of her parents, but more recently, she seems to be growing closer to her mother, while simultaneously pulling away from her father. Jacks is a wealthy philanthropist, well-known in Manhattan, which places their family in the crosshairs of the paparazzi. Jacks can be overbearing and protective as he struggles for some semblance of control over her social life, preferences and decisions. This includes micromanaging time and experiences between Livvy and her first love, Jon. Livvy has also developed a fatherly-type of affinity for a talented artist whom she never met, which further drives a wedge between her and Jacks. All of this combined has created a division between them that seems too great to overcome.
I have mixed feelings for Livvy in Contessa. She is a hard character to love in this novel, but I do. She can be impulsive, selfish and hurtful towards her parents, but I also see the good in her. There are moments that her inner beauty shines through. This leads me to believe that Livvy will grow by leaps and bounds as this series progresses. Her relationship with Jon is both intense and extremely sweet. Because of his age and family obligations, Jon is more mature than Livvy. He has lifelong goals and sees Livvy as a part of his future. I can only wonder what Lori Otto might have planned for this couple.
Contessa is the first novel of this series, the main characters are young, and there is a whole lot of story that remains to be seen for Jon and Livvy. There is plenty of room for character growth for many of the characters, including Jacks and Emi. Novels written by Lori Otto tend to bring out the strongest emotions in her readers – anger, sadness, joy and satisfaction. Lots of tears. To this day, Otto is responsible for the ugliest cry that I have ever experienced from reading a novel, and I totally mean that as a compliment! With Contessa, she was able to bring out the best and worst of my emotions, and that is a sign of a great book. Contessa is most definitely a 5-star read! Congratulations to Lori Otto for an outstanding start to her new series!

Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).
She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. I am a huge fan of the Reaper’s MC series by Joanna Wylde. I have been looking forward to this book, Reaper’s Stand. Throughout the series we have gotten some really harsh glimpses of the perilous leader of the Reaper’s MC. Reese “Picnic” Hayes has inserted his bad ass attitude through out the series. At the same time we saw some vulnerabilities that made the reader’s crave his story. We wanted him to find a woman that could stand up to him and love him, regardless of who he is. What Joanna Wylde gave Reese “Picnic” Hayes was a lot more than he bargained for. She gave him a strong woman that could hold her own in his world and give him a special place in her world.
With the upcoming troubles with the cartel, the future of the Reaper’s MC is looking grim. War is coming to the Reaper’s MC and their allies. The last thing Picnic needs is a woman. Especially a woman like London Armstrong. She is not a part of his world and doesn’t belong in it. He’s had the love of a good woman, lost her, and raised his children alone. He’s had the best of the best and the worst of the worst. There’s something about London’s honest attitude, dedication to her family, and hard working ethics that appeals to him. Not to mention her natural beauty and smoking hot body.
London Armstrong owns the local cleaning business. She has taken on some contracts for the Reaper MC club. She has been raising her niece alone for the last six years and dealing with a very troubled teenager. She doesn’t have time in her life for a man. Especially a man that brings trouble of his own. I absolutely loved Reaper’s Stand. No only was it an intense love story, it was the climatic ending in the ongoing war the Reaper’s have been fighting. This story was suspenseful and thrilling. Reaper’s Stand not only focused on the club but also focused on the importance of family. It also portrayed the honest emotions that go into parenting and protecting your children no matter what age they are.
The romance between London and Reese was steamy. Although these two were mature adults, they found the playfulness and excitement that most experience in their youth. They are realistic with their expectations in their relationship. When trouble comes knocking on the door, both will have to make some hard choices. These choices aren’t about their feelings for one another. They are choices that will affect their families, the club, and the future.
I love the Reaper’s MC series. It is one of the best Biker series in publication. The characters and their club life are very real. Joanna not only gives the readers badass bikers, she also shows the very human side of their lives. I highly recommend this book and series.

As I lay there, trying to swallow a loud, obnoxious yawn, I remembered something he’d said when we first met, about life being too short. I imagined he had firsthand experience with shortened lives while he was serving. That mentality came from experience. I got that now. Could even understand it, but there was something I didn’t understand.
“Why?” I asked.
There was a beat. “Why what?”
Jax sounded tired, and I should shut up or point out that I was now tired and could sleep, so he could leave. But I didn’t. “Why are you here? You don’t know me and . . .” I trailed off, because there really wasn’t anything left to say.
A minute went by, and he hadn’t answered my question, and then I think another minute ticked on, and I was okay with him not answering because maybe he didn’t even know. Or maybe he was just bored and that was why he was here.
But then he moved.
Jax pressed against my back, and the next breath I took got stuck in my throat. My eyes shot open. The sheet and blanket were between us, but they felt like nothing.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
“Getting comfortable.” He dropped an arm over my waist, and my entire body jerked against his. “It’s time to sleep I think.”

“You can’t sleep when you talk,” he remarked.
“You don’t need to be all up on me,” I pointed out.

I freaking begged to differ on that point. I started to wiggle away, but the arm around my waist tightened, holding me in place.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he announced casually, as if he wasn’t holding me prisoner in the bed.
Okay. The whole prisoner thing might be melodramatic, but he wasn’t letting me up. Not when he was getting all kinds of comfy behind me.
Oh my God, this was spooning. Total spooning. I was spooning with an honorary member of the Hot Guy Brigade. Did I wake up in a parallel universe?
“Sleep,” he demanded, as if the one word carried that much power. “Go to sleep, Calla.” This time his voice was softer, quieter.
“Yeah, it doesn’t work that way, Jax. You have a nice voice, but it doesn’t hold the power to make me sleep on your command.”
He chuckled.
I rolled my eyes, but the most ridiculous thing ever was the fact that after a couple of minutes, my eyes stayed shut. I . . . I actually settled in against him. With his front pressed to my back, his long legs cradling mine, and his arm snug around my waist, I actually did feel safe. More than that, I felt something else—something I hadn’t felt in years.
I felt cared for . . . cherished.
Which was the epitome of dumb, because I barely knew him, but feeling that, recognizing what the warm, buzzing feeling was, I fell right asleep.

Stay With Me by J. Lynn is another fine addition to the Wait For You series. It delivered an emotional romance that brought me to tears. This story showed readers the true meaning of unconditional love. It redefined the term “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. It also showed how building ones self esteem and confidence can heal more than the wounded soul.
Stay With Me is quite different from the other books in Wait For You series. Unlike the other books, this book takes place off campus. It also has an edgier plot that has some violence. The background and undertones of this book are bit darker than campus life. It depicts the ugly underside of a failing small town. But in all it’s darkness the characters make this book shine brightly.
Calla has endured many ugly things in her young life. Her mother is a junkie and has brought the dregs of society into her home too many times. Calla finally thought she escaped her mother for good when she left for college. Her mother has managed to pull her back when she takes all of her college money and runs up her credit cards. Calla is forced to return home to get her money back.
When she arrives home, not only has her money gone missing, her mother has gone missing as well. Left destitute, she cannot return to college. She is forced to take a job as a waitress in the family bar. She is dreading going back to that hole in the wall where she spent many of her childhood years. But like most things in life, the bar has changed since she has been gone. It no longer seems as seedy as it once was. There is a better crew running the place in her mother’s absence. One of these people is the sexy bartender Jax.
Jax sends her world spinning with his sexy flirting, genuine concern, protectiveness, and fun personality. He gives her a chance to let her guard down and be the person she really is. He gives her the hope that she can finally find a real boyfriend, experience a real kiss, and maybe find a love loyal to her.

Stay With Me was loaded with suspense and mystery. It also had all the elements we love in a new adult romance. The wonder of new love, the recognition of self worth, and finding the inner strength to build a better life. Some of the old characters from the series put in their appearances and we met quite a few new intriguing characters.
I highly recommend Stay With Me. It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.

Wow, Riding Dirty was a complete surprise. I was expecting the typical type of biker romance that we have all come to love. Biker Romances that can either have the reader fully engaged or throwing the book across the room because of the ridiculous portrayal’s of the MC life. What Riding Dirty gave the readers was unique. Yes, the main character is a lifer in the Dirty Eleven MC. But this book did not revolve around the Dirty Eleven MC and their club activities. The Dirty Eleven MC played a crucial role in the plot but was not the main focus. Riding Dirty focused on the individual member himself and his life. This book portrayed how the Dirty Eleven MC molded Cole “Shank” Shephard from childhood to present day. We saw how he evolved from a wild teenager to an enforcer and officer in the Dirty Eleven. We saw how not only was he related to the president of the Dirty Eleven MC, but was also part of the brotherhood that embraced their own codes of living. We also saw how this kind of living has damaged Cole’s life and tarnished his soul. We also get to see how Cole evolves from a ruthless, lawless man to a man that wants a very different kind of life. After years of imprisonment, Cole wants a new life with intimacy, commitment, peace, and meaningful purpose. But once you are part of the brotherhood, the only ticket out is death or expulsion. Cole struggles with his new desires and turning his back on the only family he has ever loved. This time the choice has been taken out of his hands and has forced him to choose life or death. This book was a dark erotic romance. There are quite a few sexually explicit scenes, including a F/F/M ménage scene. There is a lot of violence and explicit language.
The writing was flawless. The plot was well delivered with the right amount of twists and turns. The tension and suspense were thrilling. The focus on the main characters lives in their violent world made this book stand out in the Biker Romance sub genre. The sexual tension and bedroom scenes were sensual and daring. Riding Dirty was the perfect combination of Erotic Romance and Romantic Suspense.
I highly recommend Riding Dirty by Jill Sorenson. I am looking forward to the next book in The Dirty Eleven series. I hope it will be Ace’s story because his character is full of dark intrigue.
