New Release + Blog Tour + Excerpt: Too Enchanting by Bethany Lopez

Today we are pleased to be participating in the blog tour of TOO ENCHANTING by Bethany Lopez. Too Enchanting is the forth book in a contemporary romance series, The Lewis Cousins. Check out the blurb and buy links below.

SYNOPSIS:

When she was young, Serena Lewis was uprooted from the life she knew. Her parents took her from everything and everyone she loved, including her best friends… her cousins. Rebelling against the change, Serena became a young woman she knew her family wouldn’t like. Now that she’s moving back home, she hopes to keep that part of herself in the past and become the woman she’s meant to be.

Jed Monroe is a self-made man. Forced to grow up at a young age, he’s always taken care of himself and worked to get what he needed. Working construction has given him stability, but working with wood is where his passion truly lies.

On the outside, petite and perfect Serena and rough and hardworking Jed have nothing in common. When Serena moves into the house next door, Jed is determined to ignore the sexy art gallery manager, who he just knows will be a pain in his ass.

But their shared loved of creating beauty from pain, along with the intangible chemistry that fires whenever they’re in the same space, forces them to dig beneath the surface to find their vulnerability. Jed will soon see that whether he likes Serena or not, she’s Too Enchanting to ignore.

Too Enchanting is the fourth in an all-new small town romance series by Bethany Lopez. Follow the Lewis cousins of Cherry Springs, the kind of place where there are festivals for every occasion and everyone knows your business, as they learn about love and loss.

EXCERPT:

Jed

We stood there for a few moments, in the middle of a standoff. Not speaking or moving, until Serena couldnt stand it any longer.

What do you mean no?she asked, as if Id just said it. That is what youre doing here, right, selling your creations?

I nodded.

Yes, Im selling them, but I reserve the right to sell to who I want.

To whom,Serena said automatically, then when my eyes narrowed she muttered, Sorry, probably realizing the way to get what she did not include correcting my grammar. But, I dont understand. Why wont you let me buy it?

I sighed. Its not that I wanted to be a dick, but the river table was currently my favorite creation. Id spent a lot of time getting it exactly the way I wanted, and had an internal debate over keeping it for myself. When I decided to sell it, I knew the buyer had to be perfect.

And yes, Serena fuming with her perfect face and gorgeous hair that begged to be tugged between my fingers was perfect for most things but not for this.

New Release + Release Blitz + Excerpt: Hot Daddy by Lila Monroe

Welcome to the Billionaire Bachelors series, where the sexiest men in the city are about to meet their match…

Playboy CEO, Cal McAdams, lives life in the fast lane: hot women, hotter deals, and… a fake fiancee? I signed on to help reform his reckless image and win custody of his god-children, but I wasn’t expecting to come face-to-face (and mouth-to-mouth) with my wild Vegas hook-up from three years ago.

AKA, 6”3 of tanned muscle, sharp suits, and ‘undress me’ eyes.
AAKA, the best thigh-clenching, bed-shaking sex of my life.
AAAKA, the man who couldn’t be more off-limits if he had a uranium belt wrapped around his, um, assets.

I’ve never been one to break the rules, but Cal has me wanting to rip them up – and roll around naked on the scrap paper. But with just three weeks to turn this bachelor into a DILF, can we keep our crazy chemistry from derailing his plans? Or will gold-digging relatives, rambunctious pre-teens, and a little thing called love leave us both crashed out of the race?

Find out in the new sexy, hilarious romantic comedy from Lila Monroe!

I’ve been stranded at the hotel bar in Vegas alone for exactly twenty seconds before a guy sidles in beside me. “Buy you a drink?”
I glance up. He’s at least twenty years my senior, with pleated khakis and an obvious comb-over. I shake my head and smile tightly. “Got one, thanks.”
“Aw, come on now,” he says, plunking himself down in the empty seat beside me. “You in town for the conference?” Then, in spite of the fact that I haven’t asked: “Medical devices.”
His name is Greg, he continues; he sells surgical equipment and has a hundred dollar per diem he hasn’t blown through yet today, if I want to rethink that drink offer. “I’ll spring for nachos too,” he says magnanimously. “I’m a generous guy.”
I’m sweeping the room for the closest exit, contemplating an escape worthy of Danny Ocean himself, when a hand lands on the back of my barstool. “Hey babe,” a deep voice says casually. “Making friends?”
I whip around. This guy would look right at home with Clooney and Pitt. He’s tall and dark-haired, wearing a shirt rolled halfway to his elbows and an expression that clearly says, just go with it. “I got my ass beat at roulette,” he continues with a sheepish grin. “There goes private school for the kids, right?” He sticks his hand out to medical device guy. “Cal. The husband.”
I almost choke on my paloma. Still, something about the sheer ballsiness of this particular play–and, okay, how hot this guy is–has me playing along. “Hey hon,” I say, laying a hand on his pleasantly solid bicep. “Greg here was just telling me all about the free swag at the medical device conference in town.”
Greg’s gaze darts from me to Cal, then back again. “I guess I’ll leave y’all to it, then.”
“Good to meet you,” I lie, smiling my cheeriest smile.
Once he’s gone I turn to Cal. “So, on a scale of like, one to Disney Princess, how badly did I look like I needed rescuing?”
Cal tilts his head to the side, considering. “I mean, your undisguised expression of misery kind of gave it away.”
“Maybe that’s just how my face is!” I protest, laughing in spite of myself. “Resting miserable face.”
“Eh. Maybe.” Cal shrugs, all confidence as he settles himself onto Greg’s recently vacated barstool. “You don’t look so miserable now.”
Right away I feel my cheeks flush. It’s been a long time since I flirted—or, more accurately, since I was competently flirted with. “So how many kids do we have, exactly?”
“Not too many,” he reassures me, nodding at the bartender for another beer. “Like six or seven, max.”
“Six or seven!” I snort. “And here you are just gambling their lunch money away like some kind of degenerate.”
Cal nods gravely. “I’m a real scoundrel,” he agrees.
“Clearly.” I stick my hand out. “Jules Robinson.”
“Nice to meet you, Jules Robinson.” He gives good handshake, firm but not bone-crushing, all long fingers and the faintest scrape of callus on his palm. His eyes are a deep, friendly brown. “So what brings you to Vegas?” he asks.
“I’m with a girlfriend,” I explain. “Or I was, anyway. At the moment she’s out on an… exploratory mission.”
Cal grins. “Sounds exhilarating.”
“Oh, I’m sure it is,” I assure him. “What about you? What are you doing in town?”
“Auditioning for Thunder from Down Under,” he says immediately. Then, off my laugh: ”Callback, actually. I aced the first round, they couldn’t get enough of me.”
“Right, no, obviously.” The ads for the all-male revue were plastered all over the strip when we got here this afternoon: beefy, longhaired guys in bow ties, cummerbunds, and not much else. “So what’s your character?” I ask, rattling the ice in my mostly-empty glass. “Sexy fireman, sexy cop…?”
“Sexy medical device salesman,” he deadpans. “See, you’re laughing, but I have a whole bit I do with the x-ray machine. It’s a real crowd pleaser.”
Casino bars don’t ever really empty out, but this one is taking on a distinct after-hours vibe, low light and quiet conversations; the Bud-guzzling bachelor party bros are long gone. When I finally check my phone to see if Kelly’s texted—she has, she’s safe, and she’s having a truly epic time with her mountain man—I realize it’s after one. “Holy shit,” I blurt. “How’d it get to be so late?”
Cal raises his eyebrows. “Keeping you up?”
“What? No!” I blurt, immediately embarrassed by how eager I sound. “We just had an early flight out this morning, that’s all. I’ve been up for like twenty hours.”
“I’m teasing you, princess.” He smiles at me then, slow and easy. It’s the most intimate smile of my entire life. It’s a smile like sitting in front of a campfire in October and reading the paper in bed on Sunday morning; it’s a smile, frankly, like getting good and fucked by a man who knows you down to your most essential particles. “You wanna get out of here?” he asks.
I knew it was coming but still there’s something bracingly scandalous about the idea, being propositioned by a total stranger. I’m imagining it now, I can’t help it: that broad chest pressed against mine and his capable-looking mouth on my neck, long fingers reaching down between my legs and—
“Tempting,” I tell him truthfully, laying a palm against my flaming face. “But I probably shouldn’t.”
To his credit Cal keeps smiling, a little rueful; he doesn’t try to convince me, either, just touches my arm and catches the bartender’s eye to settle up. “Fair enough,” he tells me, pulling his wallet out of his back pocket. “Well, it was really nice to be married to you for five minutes, Jules Robinson.”
“Yeah,” I agree, feeling my whole body get warm. “It was nice to be married to you for five minutes, too.”
I’m surprised by the sharp pang of longing behind my ribs as I watch him go a moment later, the strange sense that I’ve somehow given up more than just a roll in starchy white hotel sheets. Still, it’s not like I’m about to just get up and follow him out of here. He probably does this every night, sure. But I’ve never had a one night stand in my entire life.
I’ve never had a one-night stand in my entire life.
The thought stops me—after all, I’m a grown-ass woman with a newly minted law degree, aren’t I? I’ve got nobody to answer to but myself. And this is Vegas. What happens here, et cetera. I swallow down the rest of my tequila, set the glass back down on the bar. “Hey Cal!” I call, slinging my purse over my shoulder and hopping down off my barstool as quickly as my tiny dress allows. “Wait up.”

Didn’t stop me the second time either. Only made me want a third.
My lifestyle suits the savage I am, and she doesn’t.

EXCERPT

“That you, Temperance?”

My gaze searches the darkness, interrupted only by the Chinese lanterns and fairy lights hanging from the trees, until it lands on the red dragon emblazoned on the back of a black silk kimono, topped by a fluffy white head of hair.

Shit. My landlady.

“I’m so sorry to disturb you, Harriet. I’ll just—”

She spins around, spry for her advanced age. “Oh, girl, you’ve got sex hair. At least that makes one of us.”

I squeeze my eyes shut in humiliation. “I . . . uh . . . got—”

“Done up right by a real man, I’d say. About damn time, girl. I was starting to think you were a lost cause of all work and no play. Almost wondered if I’d have to find a new tenant to get some entertainment around here.”

I blink twice as she shuffles toward me, fluffy pink marabou slippers on her feet. “You were going to kick me out because I work too much?”

I knew my landlady was a little nutty, but I didn’t realize she was downright crazy.

“It would’ve been a last resort. I was going to send you a male stripper first. Girl, you need some fun in your life, and you do nothing but go between here and work. Boring as hell.”

Her point is finally sinking in, but part of me is still in shock. “I’m boring?”

“Of course you are. I swear, you go out of your way to stay that way too. But not tonight. Tonight, you look like you got dicked down by a real man.” She takes a seat at the outdoor patio table and reaches for a bottle of wine. “Here’s a glass. Now, sit down and consider part of your rent spilling the juicy details.”

Dumbstruck, I close the distance between us and take a seat at the table. “It’s nothing. I swear.”

“Girl, you’re practically walking bowlegged. I’ve been around the block plenty of times. You won’t shock me.”

I reach for the glass of wine and take a long drink. Good Lord, I needed this.

“I shouldn’t even be admitting what I did tonight.”

Harriet’s aged eyes practically light up as she grins. “Those are the best stories. Come now, I’ll take it to the grave.”

I squeeze my eyes shut. “I think I accidentally went to a sex club.”

Harriet’s wineglass clinks the metal of the table. “I knew this was going to be good. How do you accidentally go to a sex club?”

I tell her about the note that came to the office, and rushing to meet the appointment, assuming I was there to sell whiskey . . . and end with the part about running from the room.

Harriet claps with childlike excitement. “There’s hope for you yet, Temperance. When are you going back?”

I’m stunned at her reaction. I didn’t exactly expect her to judge, but I sure didn’t think she’dcheer me on.

“Never. I can’t. That’s not me. I’m not . . .”

“Interesting? Sexually adventurous? Up to be manhandled regularly by a real man?”

“I don’t even know his name!”

Harriet waves off my concern. “If I had a nickel for every man whose name I didn’t know, I’d be even richer than I am now. You can’t take life so seriously. You’ll never make it out alive. Now, you go upstairs, take the rest of this bottle of wine, and get tipsy enough to forget all the shouldn’ts and can’ts. If you need me to do some stalking to find this guy, just let me know. I have connections.”

Tracey’s Review

Holy freaking whoa, y’all. So, all of the books in the Anti-Heroes Collection by author Meghan March have been hot, hot, hot. Let me just say that Meghan is keeping it scorching in SAVAGE PRINCE, the latest book in this collection, and the first in the Savage trilogy. Steaming, scorching, ‘where the heck is that cool drink when you need it’ hot, friends, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it more.

Fans of the Mount trilogy, previous books in this collection, have met Temperance Ransom, COO of Seven Sinners Distillery, and right hand to Keira Kilgore. But SAVAGE PRINCE shows us a completely different side of Temperance, and, y’all, oh, my goodness.

SAVAGE PRINCE is equal parts kinky revelry, romantic suspense, and a merging of friends from all over the New Orleans world that Meghan has crafted. I couldn’t stop turning pages, and, man, that ending? Bring on Books 2 and 3, like, now, Meghan, because this ride is crazy-good. If you’re looking for answers to the questions that this first book throws out there, you’ll have to wait for IRON PRINCESS and ROGUE ROYALTY, but that’s no hardship, because you will love the heck out of these books. Stop what you’re doing and dive into SAVAGE PRINCE right now. You will not be sorry!

What were you thinking about just then?” His gaze fell to her mouth. “Never mind. You don’t have to tell me. It’s written all over your face.”

She licked her lips as he stepped closer, as he backed her against the wall and bracketed her in with his hands on either side of her head. He felt bigger in this position, as if his shoulders could block out the very sun. You have to get him to back off. You’re too close. She leaned against the wall, the move arching her back just a little. Beckett’s gaze dropped to where her breasts pressed against her blouse, and he dragged in an unsteady breath. As if he was using every ounce of willpower not to touch her. He dragged his eyes up to meet hers. “You were thinking about that night.”

She could deny it, but it would be pointless. “Yeah.”

Slowly, oh so slowly, he moved one hand to sift his fingers through her hair. When she didn’t immediately answer, he leaned closer yet. “I think about it, too.” He trailed his fingers through her hair until he reached her shoulder and his thumb dipped beneath the fabric of her shirt. “All the fucking time.” He dropped his hand farther, the tips of his fingers tracing over her breast in a touch so light she was half sure she imagined it.

Might have convinced herself she imagined it if her entire body wasn’t tuned to his in that moment.

Touch me.

As if reading her thoughts, he shifted closer, his leg sliding between hers. The move forced her skirt up as she spread her legs to accommodate his thigh. Higher and higher until he was firmly pressed against her clit. It throbbed in time with her heartbeat, and it was everything she could do not to rub on his thigh like a mindless version of herself.

She felt mindless. Samara gave up her determination not to touch him. She couldn’t wrap her legs around his waist because of her damn skirt, but she ran her hands up his chest. “We can’t.”

“I know.” But he didn’t stop. He slid his hands down to her ass, urging her to grind against his thigh. Slowly, so incredibly slowly, as if he had all the time in the world. He dragged his mouth over her collarbone, the faint rasp of whiskers drawing a whimper from her lips.

Samara dug her fingers into his hair, and he went still. Waiting. She pulled him up and took his mouth the way she’d wanted to since she’d snuck out of that hotel room six months before. She flicked his tongue with hers, teasing him even as he resumed the delicious movement between them again. Yes, yes, do that, don’t stop.

Beckett let her have control for all of two seconds, and then he deepened the kiss, pressing her more firmly against the wall. He took with his mouth even as he gave with his body, hitching her higher until her toes barely touched the floor and she was completely at his mercy. Pleasure sparked through her, and she kissed him harder. It wasn’t enough, might never be enough, but she couldn’t stop.

Not when she knew that, as good as this was, what came next was even better.

“Well…” I
stop to clear the rasp from my voice. “If there’s no picture of us together, we
should take one.”
“Good
idea.” He crooks his finger at me, unwittingly sealing his fate. “Come here.”
I put my
jacket on downstairs when I thought we were leaving, but I take it off now,
simply letting it fall. “I want you in the mayor’s chair.”
His eyes
stray to my pooled jacket, then tick to mine. “You what?”
“In the
picture. I want you sitting in the chair.”
“Oh.
Right.” He slides out the brown leather, high-back executive chair and drops
into it. “What about you?”
My bravery
slips. Whose wouldn’t? This powerful, gorgeous man sits before me, outlined by
the city he’s been elected to run. His thighs are thicker than my waist, his
sleeves caught up around his elbows. A strong man. A man of conviction who will
not be seduced unless he really wants to be.
Or is driven
out of his mind and can’t resist.
Before I
can second-guess myself, I move between his outstretched thighs and ease myself
onto his lap. “Addison.”
I send him
an innocent look over my shoulder. “Yes, Captain?”
His chest
rises and falls. Once. Twice. “Take the picture.”
The fact
that I’m playing with fire stops psyching me out…and begins to excite me. Maybe
it’s the gravel in his tone…or the big fists that come to rest on the desk.
No…it’s definitely the way he presses his nose to my hair and inhales. As if
I’m not going to notice. But I do. I do and it makes me braver. Makes me throb
between my legs.
“The
picture, Addison.”
“Sorry.” I
lean across the desk where I set my purse, taking my time digging through to
find my cell before pulling it out, searching for the camera app. All the
while, his muscles bunch beneath me, harder and harder…and that’s when I feel
it. His erection lifts under my backside, so thick and glorious, I bite my lip
to stop from crying out. I want to, though. I want to sob at the proof that
he’s physically attracted to me and at least I have that much.
My hands
are shaking as I lift the camera, my instincts screaming at me to grind down.
Elijah’s breath is pelting the back of my neck. Other than that he’s completely
still, though. But when I flip the camera around to selfie mode and get my
first look at his face, there isn’t a jury on the planet that would rule him
unaffected. His eyes are closed, nostrils flared, mouth open against my hair.
“You’ve got five seconds,” he says. “Take it, or—”
“Or what?”
Elijah stands up and takes me with him, my ass pressed to his lap, feet
dangling off the ground. As if I weigh nothing more than a child. It only lasts
for a couple mind-blowing seconds, though, before he settles me on the ground
behind his desk. His heat begins to leave me and I sense my chance slipping
away, so I twist around to face him. Still mere inches away from me, he pauses
with his head tipped forward, hands flexing at his sides. “We could be more
than friends.” After easing myself backwards onto the desk, I snag his necktie
and tug him closer, guiding his hips between my open thighs. “Just for
tonight.”
His laugh
is more like a rough expulsion of air, the scent of bourbon hitting me. “That’s
not how things work,” he says, his palms scraping up my thighs, twisting in the
hem of my dress. “Goddammit, Addison. You’re not supposed to tempt me like
this.”
Tempted.
He’s tempted. My blood cells crash together. “I don’t always do what I’m
supposed to,” I murmur, leaning up to bring our mouths close, a breath
separating them. “If I wasn’t your friend, would you kiss me right now?”
His eyes
fasten on my mouth, seeming darker than usual. Predatory. “You felt what you
did to my cock, sugar. You know the answer to that.”

Excerpt:

“Iris?” August’s frown, the concern on his face, in his voice, remind me where I am. “Baby, you okay?”

I blink down at him dumbly, swallowing my tears, eating my memories whole and digesting a nightmare from long ago. I nod, my lips a cold, wobbly curve.

“Kiss me,” he whispers, his eyes so tender, so intent.

I remember a magical night under the stars, under a streetlight on the eve of greatness. A night filled with laughter and confidences, pregnant with promise. And I see him so clearly, my prince, asking for a kiss.

And I do.

I kiss him like the world might end tonight because I’ll never take this for granted. Not his kindness, when I’ve known cruelty all too well. Not his tenderness, when I’ve been handled roughly in the past. Not his love, when I’ve been possessed and owned and mistreated.

He thaws me with his kiss, my prince, and I melt into him. We’re chest to chest, with August’s number crushed between us. I take his cock in my hand, aligning our bodies, and two become one in a carnal slide of flesh. I anchor myself by my elbows hooked around his neck, and we kiss until I’m dizzy and our breaths tangle in a cloud of bliss. Under the jersey, his palm spans my back, digging into the naked flesh as our hips lock and roll and grind. My body clenches around him, and we pray, we curse, we moan, we mate like our bodies were made for this moment.

Ours is a love that reimagines—that peels back the sky at high noon searching for the stars, collecting them like shells in a bucket. We bathe in stardust, drink from the Milky Way, and dance on the moon. We pierce the firmament, peer into infinity, and tread on time and space. There is no before. There is no after. Now gives birth to forever. This moment may die, but this love never will. Time is not a line. It’s a circle, and we, August and Iris, we stand at the center.

“A STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND READ THIS NOW kind of book. Don’t hold your breath, this story will steal it from you.”

J. Sterling, New York Times Bestselling Author

Tracey’s Review

Life is a constellation of decisions, connected by coincidences and deliberations, painting pictures in the heavens. During the day, when things are brightest, we don’t see the stars, but they are there. It’s only in the contrast of night, when things are darkest, that the stars shine.

When a new book by author Kennedy Ryan goes live, there’s no question that it will be right at the top of my TBR. Doesn’t matter what or who it’s about, if Kennedy wrote it, I’m reading it. So, LONG SHOT. I knew that it was a sports romance, that it takes place in the world of basketball, but that was really all that I knew. So in I went, ready for the angst and passion and everything that a typical Kennedy Ryan book is. Let me tell you, I was blown away, totally sucked in and immersed in this beautiful, tragic, redemptive story, and I could not put it down.

Kennedy writes from the heart, and her passion and love for what she does are evident in this book. Iris and August and their story raised me up, brought me to tears, and lifted me again. Such passion, such strength, such certainty that one day, some day, the timing would be right, and everything would click into place. These characters, this story, are ones that will stay with me. LONG SHOT is a story that needed to be told, and Kennedy has done it with her usual poetry, her voice that speaks brutal truth and beautiful strength, and I absolutely loved it.

No question, then, that LONG SHOT is one of my favorite reads of this year, and maybe ever. 6 stars, 10 stars, a LOT of stars, this book should be on your bookshelf. I guarantee you that it will touch you and change you, and you do not want to miss it.

JACOB’S LADDER: ELI by Katie Ashley

Blurb:

One wouldn’t expect a sexy-as-sin rocker like Eli Renard to spend time with a woman just as a friend, but that’s exactly what Emersyn Wallace is to him. Just a friend. Even though she’s matured into a beauty, Eli still doesn’t remotely see his childhood pal as a sex-object. When tragedy brings her back into his world, Eli moves mountains to help Emersyn get back onto her feet by finding her a job as a backup singer for Jacob’s Ladder. At first, Eli is thrilled that Emerysn is along on tour, and he sets out to do his best to help her forget her sorrow through a range of crazy friend dates. But after spending so much time with her in such close quarters, Eli finds his feelings beginning to shift. He no longer sees Emersyn as the once awkward young girl he played some of his first songs with. Soon it’s not only his body that reacts to her, but it’s also his heart. He’s about to learn what a dangerous game it is to dry a widow’s tears.

After losing her husband and singing partner in a tragic accident, Emersyn Wallace spent the last eight months drowning in a sea of grief. With the bills piling up and her family and friends concerned about her emotional welfare, she reluctantly agrees to join the Jacob’s Ladder’s tour. While recapturing her lost love of singing and performing, she finds both comfort and healing in Eli’s gregarious personality and outrageous sense of humor. But as the anniversary of her husband’s death approaches, she finds herself in turmoil over her new amorous feelings for Eli.

Can Eli and Emersyn find the perfect melody to transition from friends to lovers, or will their relationship end out of tune?

EXCERPT:

Tonight, as I trudged back to the bus after our show, I wanted nothing more than a scalding hot shower and to fall into bed. After our Meet and Greet, Id stayed back to have a beer with some of the roadies while Gabe and Emersyn headed for the bus. After Harry unlocked the door, I pounded up the stairs. I swept my shirt over my head as I started down the hallway. The curtain to Emersyns roost was closed, so I figured she had gone on to sleep.

All right, bro, youve been in there long enough. Give someone else a shot at the shower.I grabbed the handle and jerked open the bathroom door. A high-pitched feminine squeal pierced my eardrums, and my hands flew up to cover them. As a whole lot of naked female flesh entered my vision, I should have covered my eyes instead.

Oh fuuuuuck. It hadnt been Gabe in the shower. Instead of seeing my brothers junk, I had just managed to see more than I ever should have of my best friend. Like tits and ass kind of more. While most women didnt care if their girlfriends saw them naked, it was a completely different ball game when it came to male and female friends. Yes, I mightve accidentally grabbed Emersyns boob once, but that was nothing like seeing her practically naked.

Eli!Emersyn shrieked as she fumbled to cover herself with a towel.

Averting my eyes, I ducked my head, but then on second thought, I spun around so she could get decent. Im so, so sorry. I thought you were Gabe.As I got a delicious flashback of perky tits in my mind, I mumbled, So not Gabe.Oh Jesus, had I actually just thought of Emersyns tits as perky and the flashback as delicious? What kind of pervert was I? There was no way I shouldve been having those thoughts about my best friend. When I grabbed her boob in my sleep, I had felt so disgusting I wanted to cut my hand off. Well, you know, except for the fact I kind of needed it to play guitar. Next thing I would be doing is filing the images of Emersyn away in my spank bank to relive at a later time. Oh, fuck no!

Did you ever hear of knocking?she squeaked. I wasnt sure I had ever heard her voice so shrill. Who knew the way to get her to reach a new vocal range was to scare the shit out of her by seeing her naked?  Although I was pretty sure she would object to going on stage in the buff

I threw a tentative glance over my shoulder, and relief filled me when I saw Sonny was now sufficiently wrapped in a towel. Turning around to face her, I asked, Yeah, okay, so I didnt knock, but didnt you hear me when I said I was coming in?

Emersyn wildly shook her head. It was all muffled because I had the towel over my ears to dry my hair.

Im really sorry, Sonny, but ever since Abby got with Jake, its been just us guys on the bus. When youve seen one dick, youve seen them all.

Tell that to all the men enamored with sending dick pics.

After throwing my head back with a laugh, my eyes met hers. Good point.

Nibbling on her lip, Emersyn said, I guess this was bound to happen with us being in such close quarters.

True. But from now on, Ill make sure to knock. Ill make sure Gabe gets the memo as well. In fact, we might even instate a shower schedule where youre ensured to have the whole bus to yourself.

Emersyn rolled her eyes. Im not that much of a special snowflake that I cant take showering on a bus with you two.

Yeah, well, I would argue your horrified scream at the sight of me could have broken glass.

She laughed. It wasnt that bad.

Im seriously surprised the mirror didnt shatter.

Whatever,she replied.

When my gaze zeroed in on the area directly above her cleavage, Emersyn shoved me. Jeez, didnt you get a good enough look a few minutes ago?

What are you talking about?

Youre staring at my boobs.

I laughed. Trust me, Im not staring at your tits.

You could have fooled me,she huffed, pulling the towel tighter against her.

You still have the scar.

Excuse me?

With my index finger, I motioned to the slightly discolored area below her collarbone. The scar you got that time we were climbing trees.

Emersyns eyes widened. You remember that?

You scared the hell out of me. No lie. I can still hear the thump sound when you fell to the ground.

Pinching her eyes shut, Emersyn began reliving the memory. You were reaching your hand out to me when my foot slipped on the limb. A branch jabbed me in the chest as I fell. When I landed, it knocked the breath out of me.Her eyes popped open as a small smile curved on her lips. Ill never forget the look on your faceyou were pale as a sheet. The worst part was I couldnt tell you I was all right.

I grinned. Im not going to lie I probably pissed my pants a little that day.

Because you were worried our parents would kill you if youd maimed me?she teasingly asked.

That was part of it.I shook my head. More than anything, I was worried Id killed my best friend. I couldnt imagine my life without you in it.

You really thought that?

I sure did.

I froze when fresh tears pooled in her eyes. I couldnt believe as hard as I was trying not to upset her, I had somehow managed to set her off. The next thing I knew she was throwing her arms around my neck and pressing herself against me. Oh Eli, everyone should have a best friend as wonderful as you,she murmured, her breath fanning against my ear.

After I brought my arms up to embrace her, something from the darkest recesses of my brain switched on. For the first time in my life, I noticed the soft curves of Emersyns body. The perfect way she fit against me. The way her breasts pillowed against my chest. The flow of her hair down her back. The sweet smell of her perfume. The silkiness of her skin.

It was everything a man would notice about a prospective lover.

It was everything I shouldnt have noticed about Emersyn.

Clearing my throat, I quickly pulled away. Anyway, Im sorry about that day, and Im sorry about bursting in on you.

Emersyn gave me sweet smile. A chaste one she would give to her older brother or friend. Youre forgiven.

I jerked my thumb at my roost. Ill give you some privacy and let you finish getting ready.

You dont have to do that.

No, no. I dont mind.

Before she could protest anymore, I turned on my heels and hurried down the hallway. After jerking aside the cover on my roost, I dove onto the mattress. As I lay back, I pinched my eyes shut. While it was probably crazy as hell, I began repeating in my mind, there is no way in hell Im hot for Emersyn, there is no way in hell Im hot for Emersyn, there is no way in hell Im hot for Emersyn.

Nope. Nada. Not happening.

It was hate at first sight……

Affton

I hated Cable James McCaffrey.

He was entitled, spoiled, a user…and an addict.

He was out of control and didn’t bother trying to hide it.

He had everything anyone could want but still seemed miserable and lost.

Every move he made, every mistake he stumbled his way through, rubbed me the wrong way. However, I couldn’t stop myself from trying to save him from himself when no one else would. In the sweltering heat of the summer, Cable taught me that having it all means nothing if you can’t have the one thing you want more than anything else.

Cable

I was obsessed with Affton Reed.

She was rigid, uptight, and no fun. There was something about her innate goodness that called to me.

She acted like she was above all the normal faults and failures that clung to the rest of us like the scent of smoke after a fire.

I was infatuated with her, but that didn’t stop me from acting like she didn’t exist.

In the scorching heat of summer, Affton taught me that there is always a way back from the brink of despair. She showed me that the trick to having it all was realizing that it was already there, in my hands. All I had to do was hold onto it.

The road to recovery is full of twists and turns no matter who is in the driver’s seat.

EXCERPT:

I took another swallow of cinnamon-flavored booze and made a face as it burned down my throat. Maybe I could breathe fire. I needed to be able to if I was going to make it through the summer with Affton Reed looking over my shoulder. She had some of the strongest shields I’d ever seen. If my fire wasn’t hot enough, it would bounce off her and burn me to a crisp.

The sun was down, and I was pretty much sitting in the water now. I thought about lying down and letting it lift me up and carry me wherever it wanted. I wasn’t drifting anywhere good on my own. I heard splashing and felt the air behind me stir. No longer alone. No longer left to my own devices and bad choices.

I took another swig from the bottle, draining it, and looked over my shoulder at the girl making her way toward me. Her hair looked silver in the darkening light, and there was no mistaking the annoyance on her unmade-up face. She looked at me then shifted her gaze to the empty bottle in my hand. Her lips pulled into a frown, and her eyebrows tugged down into an angry V over the top of her nose.

“You aren’t going to make anything about this summer easy, are you, Cable?”

I had a thing for her voice. It was a little bit husky and a lot sweet with that slow, southern Texas twang in it. The way my name sounded when she said it, all exasperated and frustrated, was fucking sexy. It made me wonder what it would sound like when she whispered it in the dark while I was inside of her. I’d imagined that more times than I could count over the last eighteen months.

“I don’t really do easy, Reed.” I looked at the empty bottle in my hand and contemplated tossing it into the Gulf. Knowing my luck, I’d hit some endangered marine life and give the judge one more reason to add months onto my sentence. Instead, I reached up and handed it to the leggy blonde who was now standing next to me, the water well above her ankles.

“Jesus. Did you drink this whole thing?” She sounded incensed, and when I rolled my eyes up to look at her, it was clear she was contemplating hitting me over the head with the very weapon I’d just handed to her.

I shrugged. “Pretty much.” The bubbly teen girls barely had the chance to put a dent in it before I swooped in and snagged their stash.

She sighed from where she was hovering above me. I jolted in shock when she suddenly lowered herself to the wet sand next to me, the water immediately soaking into her frayed cutoffs and swirling around her ankles and hips as she copied my pose, my empty bottle caught between her feet. She leaned forward, rested her cheek on her knee, and gazed at me steadily out of those mesmerizing eyes. “I tried to tell your mother this was hopeless. I warned her there is no helping someone who doesn’t want to be helped. I don’t want to be here, Cable.” Her voice was hard, and I was surprised that her admission hurt a little bit. I didn’t want to be around me most of the time, but I was used to other people flocking to me, vying for my attention. “I don’t want to be here, but I have to be, so that means you’re stuck with me no matter how difficult you decide to make the next couple of months. I don’t have a choice.”

I wanted a cigarette. I needed something to occupy my hands and my mouth. I’d left the smokes and m y t-shirt on the steps of the deck off dad’s house. The steps led to the beach, just a few feet from the water. It was a beautiful house on a prime piece of property. With Affton here, it was nothing more than an expensive jail cell.

I knew exactly what means my mother had gone to in order to get Affton to agree to this madness. She told me outright she was blackmailing my former classmate, I think in a thinly veiled attempt to make me care about someone else’s future if I wouldn’t care about my own. I knew if I drove Affton away, her father would lose his job. It wasn’t fair, but my mom had been nothing short of ruthless in her pursuit of my sobriety. “My mom can be very convincing when she puts her mind to it.” She could also be tough as nails and immovable when she wanted something.

Affton snorted and shifted so her chin was resting on her knee instead of her cheek. She looked out over the endless landscape of water and sky, and I shivered even though it wasn’t cold. I lifted a hand to run it through my hair. My unease lived inside of me, crawled all around my bones and under my skin. I wasn’t used to it making its way to the surface because of someone else. There was a lot unsaid between me and this girl. The few words we’d exchanged were powerful, important ones that hung heavy between us. It was so much easier when I looked at her, and she refused to look back.

“I don’t think convincing is the word I would use…more like conniving. Either way, she tied my hands, so succeed or fail, you are stuck with me until the end of summer. Let’s get you into the house so you can sleep this bottle off and pray you don’t get popped for a piss test tomorrow.” She grabbed the bottle from where she had plunked the base in the sand and lifted a pale eyebrow at me. “You should have picked something…” she trailed off and gave me a shrug. “Less wussy to enjoy your last binge with. This stuff tastes like toothpaste.”

She offered me her free hand, and for a second all I could picture was grabbing it and pulling her under with me, letting the water cover us both and take us somewhere we would both rather be. I didn’t. I took her hand and struggled to my feet. Months of forced sobriety tumbled away under the wash of cinnamon whiskey. I wobbled and almost went back down, but before I could nose dive into the shallow water, Affton was there, arm around my waist, empty bottle pressed into my side, a chilly reminder that I’d already fucked this up and it was only the first day.

I had no idea how either one of us was going to survive the summer, and if we did, I had no idea how I was supposed to survive beyond that when I was once again left to my own devious and duplicitous devices.

New Cover Reveal + Excerpt + Trailer + Giveaway: Lilith by Willow Aster

A note from the author: For me the word is exactly what Lilith feels about herself … it’s more than her profession, it’s her lack of self-worth, her shame, and her weariness with the lot she’s been given. It’s the word that’s been stamped across her chest and what she’s carried her whole life. The word that I’ve never liked just felt right, but I get how people who can’t see inside my head might not appreciate being blasted with the word. There’s only one other title I can accept and that is … Lilith. Because really, it’s always been about her and I want to keep it that way.

Not your typical prostitute … this is a story of unconditional love.

“I need a reason to exist.”

Beautiful, intelligent, independent, strong-willed, wealthy—Lilith Fontenot seems by all appearances, to have it all. But that’s not how the highest paid prostitute in New Orleans sees herself.

A stain on society. A scourge. A waste. Outsider. Prisoner…

Any idyllic dream of the normal life she may have once imagined, Lilith buried long ago. Her only plan now is survival.

But mob boss Nico Santelli and community center owner Soti Christos have not given up on Lilith. Each has his own very specific, very opposing, plans for her, and neither will rest until it becomes a reality.

LILITH is a singularly bracing take on an ancient tale of tireless love, betrayal, and the possibility of redemption.

I take a sudden deep breath and my breasts brush against his chest. The contact surprises us both. I do it again, intentionally this time, trying to gain control in the only way I know how. His neck flushes and he takes a step back. I enjoy the rush it gives me, knowing that I affect him too. “Hey, would you like to come around the corner with me to—” I swallow my surprise and shake my head, holding my hand up before he says anything else. “Please,” he says louder. “What’s your name?” “I am Sotirios … Soti.” “Soti, what makes you think you know anything about me?” He tries to make eye contact, but I focus on a spot just past his left ear. “I just want to help you…” His words trail off. The wind blows my hair forward, a sheet of black coming between us until I smooth the long strands down on either side. I gaze down the street and see a blurry little girl with black hair down to her waist in middle school, standing shy and hopeful in front of a group of girls. “We know what you are,” they said. They hurled spit and names on her and she stood there, taking it, until the teacher came and helped her. Help only got me so far. “You listen to me, okay?” I say so softly he leans in to hear me. “I was born for this.” When my eyes finally land on his again, I know his face will haunt me forever. He looks as bleak as I feel. I clear my throat. “Now, if you’ll excuse us.” With that, I loop my hand through the arm of my next income source, calculating how I can get the most money out of him for the least amount of time. It takes every ounce of willpower I own to not look Soti’s way one more time. Once we round the corner and I know he’s out of sight, all the adrenaline leaves my body, and I’m actually glad to have someone to hold onto. I avoid my reflection as we walk back to the house. I don’t want to know what the rest of the world sees when they look at me.

Excerpt:

Felicity didn’t charge off to find Gabe. She needed to get her bearings first. It wasn’t just Nadia Ainsworth and whatever was going on with her—and between her and Gabe— but being around him, his energy and drive. She didn’t want to get sucked in and lose herself, or at least her focus. She had a high-profile event coming up in her hometown. She was working. She had a job to do…  She spotted Christopher Sloan walking toward the popular restaurant from Main Street. He was the youngest of the five Sloan brothers, a firefighter in town

Gabe had always been tight with the Sloans. Really, why couldn’t Gabe have stayed with one of them? Christopher was on his own and lived in the village. Surely, he had space.

Of course, a Sloan hadn’t bought the old Flanagan place.

Gabe would be gone in a few days, and if his stay helped him get over any emotions about the property being out of Flanagan hands, that wasn’t a bad thing.

Felicity noticed her Rover was getting warm. She turned on the engine and rolled down the windows just as Evelyn Sloan walked up the street from her house. She was in her eighties, using a cane these days but otherwise in good shape. She was the widowed grandmother of the six Sloan siblings, still living on her own. She paused at Felicity’s old Land Rover. “I thought that was you. How are you, Felicity?”

“Doing well, Mrs. Sloan, thanks.”

“You can call me Evelyn. I don’t mind. I understand your parents are traveling a lot these days. Good for them. Go while you can.”

Felicity smiled. “They’re enjoying retirement.”

“They’ve earned it.” She leaned in closer, as if she had a secret to share. “I heard Gabe Flanagan is staying at your house on the river. Are you two back together?”

“We’ve always just been friends.” And for a while, not even that.

Evelyn frowned. “Just friends? Okay.” She straightened, adjusting her cane. “Have a nice afternoon. I don’t care for this hot weather, but it does feel nice on my old bones today. Back in the day I’d be tempted to take a dip in the river myself. Gabe stopped at the farm for a rope. I understand he plans to go out to your swimming hole on the river. You kids used to have a blast out there. It’s a lovely spot. Still, it’s never a good idea to swim alone.”

The “farm” wasn’t a working farm these days, its old barn instead the offices for Sloan & Sons, a respected, busy construction company in town owned and run by Evelyn’s son and his wife and grandchildren. Gabe had worked for them through high school and until he dropped out of college.

Felicity started to say something about swimming holes, but Evelyn was already on her way up the street. “A rope,” she said, rolling up her window. “Leave it to Gabe.”
