“This is a series I urge every single person to read. It’s so unique and artistic and has me hanging off of every word.”
– Amo Jones, Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author

Fighting for Rain, the second installment in The Rain Trilogy everyone’s raving about from BB Easton, is out now!

Fighting for Rain final ebook

The world was supposed to end on April 23, but Rainbow Williams’s world ended days before that.

The mass hysteria caused by the impending apocalypse claimed everything she’d ever loved. Her family. Her city. Her will to live.

Until she met him.

Wes Parker didn’t have anything left for the apocalypse to take…he’d already lost it all by the time he was nine-years-old. His family. His home. His hope of ever being loved.

Until he met her.

Brought together by fate and bound by a love that would last lifetimes, Rain and Wes were prepared to die together on April 23.

They were not prepared for what would happen on April 24

Excerpt:

“Did I pass?” Rain asks as I stop at the bottom of the tree house ladder to give her a hand up.

“I think I’m the one who passed.” I give her a swat on the ass as she heads up and chuckle when she yelps in surprise. “I know your song.”

“Oh, really?”

When I climb in behind her, Rain is sitting, facing me with her arms folded over her chest.

For a guy who has nothing to prove, I fucking love proving myself to this girl.

I sit with my back against the plywood wall and strum something softer and slower and definitely sadder than anything I’ve played for her before. I’m afraid it might be too much, considering how far she’s come today, but fuck it. It’s the truth, and right now, the truth—and this guitar—is all I got.

“I think you might be a Paramore girl.”

The simple, soulful melody is synchronized with every beat of my own bleeding heart as I open my mouth and sing the first line.

About a girl watching her daddy cry.

Rain clutches the blanket to her chest and listens as I tell her the story of a woman who’s afraid to get hurt after watching her parents break each other’s hearts. She tries to protect herself. She tries to avoid the pain of being left. But when she finally falls in love, she realizes that it’s worth the risk.

I hope she’s fucking right.

I can’t really see Rain’s expression in the dark, but as I let the final note fade out, I know I’m going to find tears before I even reach for her face.

“How did you do that?” She sniffles, and when she leans into my touch, I know I got her.

I shrug. “When you’re in the system, you get good at figuring people out.”

She inhales deeply and sighs. “So, what’s the name of my new favorite song?”

I place the guitar in the corner and crawl over to her. Laying her down, I take the wadded-up blanket out of her arms and set it behind her head like a pillow. “‘The Only Exception.’”

Gazing down at her, I know now that that’s exactly what she is for me. The only exception to all of my rules.

No getting attached.

Leave before you get left.

Supplies. Shelter. Self-defense.

Survival above all else.

Now, they’ve all been crossed out with a giant X, and next to them, in murderous block letters, are the words Protect Rainbow Williams. That’s all I fucking care about now. Keeping her safe. Keeping her—period.

“Wes?” she asks, her voice small and shaky as she slides her fingers into my hair and pushes it away from my face. “Will you still be here when I wake up?”

Bracing myself on my forearms, I lower myself onto her soft, warm body and press my lips to hers. Blood explodes through my veins on contact, but I don’t move. I hold that kiss until I feel her relax beneath me. Until I know she’ll believe me when I finally promise, “Forever.”

Satisfied, Rain pulls my face back down to hers and kisses me like forever might actually exist. Slowly. Sweetly. Without the ticking clock of April 23 looming over our heads. Without blood on our hands or ash in our hair. Without wonder or worry about how it will end. Because we started at the fucking end.

Now, we get to begin.

Michel’s Review

2020 Favorite

Fighting For Rain and Dying For Rain by BB Easton are my most anticipated novels of 2020. After reading Praying For Rain I could not wait to see what happened on April 23rd to Wes and Rain.

April 23rd has come and gone. They survived but what exactly did they survive? What happens on April 24th and everyday after that. What has become of the world they knew and the new world emerging? The only thing they thought they could depend on was each other but that is another fallacy that is proving to be a lie.

The only truth is the survival instinct has only begun. The world has changed and everyone has choices to make. Some will become leaders, some will become saviors, some will become liars, some will righteous, some will become repulsive, and some will become recluses. Society has broken down and the new world emerging may not be worth surviving for. Dying may be the only option.

I hung on every word and was completely shocked by the direction this trilogy has taken. It is unpredictable, hair raising, adventurous, and philosophical as well as being a red hot romance. Who ever thought the end of the world would be so sexy? Who ever thought the world would end and humanity would be redefined?

BB Easton has my complete attention and my calculated anticipation. I cannot wait for Dying For Rain , the final book in the trilogy to release.

I can easily see this trilogy being made into a major motion picture! Well done BB Easton!

About BB Easton

BB Easton lives in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, with her long-suffering husband, Ken, and two adorable children. She recently quit her job as a school psychologist to write books about her punk rock past and deviant sexual history full-time. Ken is suuuper excited about that.

Praying for Rain is BB’s first full-length work of fiction. The idea, fittingly, came to her in a dream.

If that sounds like the kind of person you want to go around being friends with, then by all means, feel free to drop her a line. You can find her procrastinating at all of the following places:

SYNOPSIS

Terminated for inappropriate behavior.

I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.

Nine years.  Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.

All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends—a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought…

Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.

I didn’t think he’d actually respond.

I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.

Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.

Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.

But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.

It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.

Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

Michel’s Review

I have been a huge fan of Vi Keeland’s writing since she began her publishing career. I have watched her develop her craft, hone in on her reader audience, join forces with Penelope Ward to become part of one the most popular writing teams, and trade her career to follow her heart. She has earned the well deserved success in the romance publishing world. It has been a delight to witness her growth as a writer as well as becoming one of her fangirl Violets. The one thing that has made her a success is staying true to herself and her formula. Nobody and I mean nobody writes a hero like Vi Keeland. Her hero’s are sexy as sin, smart mouthed, dirty talking men who can back up every single word while still being vulnerable and flawed beneath the surface. Their confidence and masculinity is a result of intelligence, sense of humor, ability to value those they love, to respect women at all times, and tune into their personal emotions when push comes to show. Oh and did I say they were sexy as sin … always in a Vi Keeland novel. The best part of Vi’s writing is her ability to match the hero with a saucy heroine that can handle everything he dishes out and give it back with whip cream on top.

Inappropriate was more than an inter-office romance. It was the beginning of something both Ireland and Grant needed in their lives. They had both lived through emotional trauma. They both understood both sides love, the ugly and the beautiful. They both deserved a chance to grasp the beautiful and build their own love story. First they have to get past human resources, the law, family business partners, a bridezilla,a crazy grandpa, a sassy teenager, and crappy contractor. Oh and maybe their very own flawed hearts. Let the fun begin… Grant and Ireland are in for an Inappropriate sexcapade Vi Keeland style!

I absolutely loved Inappropriate by Vi Keeland . There is nothing like a Vi Keeland reading adventure!

EXCERPT

“Harry Potter geek?”
She nods. “Dad and I used to read the books when I was young. It’s our thing, you know? We share our love for mythical creatures and magical worlds.”
She smiles widely. “When I was at my mother’s, I used to read the books by myself and wished I was at Dad’s instead.”
“So now you get to wear a unicorn necklace and look like a fairy?”
Suddenly, I see darkness pushing her bright face. She grabs the handle and starts closing the door. “Thank you again for everything.”
“I’m supposed to stay with you and binge watch a series or just watch a rom-com,” I say, showing her my arm where I scribbled my notes.
Her expression smooths, and her lips slip into a charming grin. Her mouth is framed by a pair of inviting dimples that enchant me.
“So tell me about this first day,” I ask. “We could share some of the chocolate chip cookies I got you.”
She steps aside, inviting me in. “First experiences suck most of the time.”
“First kisses never suck,” I tell her.
“Of course they do,” she protests with conviction.
I brush a strand of her hair, leaning forward. “There’s always that little moment of hesitation. When everything is almost happening. Like, right when you’re about to touch her lips,” I say, my lips are so close to hers. “You wait though.”
“What do you wait for?” she asks with sweetness and innocence.
“For her to step back or lean into the kiss.”
“What if she doesn’t move?”
“That’s my favorite,” I answer before I brush her soft lips with mine.
She gasps as I dip my mouth to hers. This is pretty much like going down the slope at high speed. I can’t stop, I can’t hesitate. One wrong move and it’s a bust. I have to control every movement, lead her. Lean where I want us to go. I slide my tongue across her lips, and she opens them while she wraps her arms around my neck.
I don’t rush it though. If this is the only kiss I get from Hannah, I want it to be perfect. My heart hammers as our kiss leads to more than just demonstrating to her that a first can be extraordinary.
The small whimper she makes as I slide my hand around her waist and pull her into me gets me worked up. I hold nothing back, and she doesn’t either. I move my lips to her jawline, nibbling her soft skin all the way to her earlobe.
She tastes sweet. Like lavender, vanilla, and honey. I could eat her. Nibble every inch of her skin, drink her all.
As she pushes her hips up against me, trying to get closer, my eyes open. Our gazes connect. I want to consume her. All of her. The pain from climbing the tree is gone, replaced by desire—a hunger I’ve never come across before.
I run a hand through the back of her neck, my fingers curl around her skull, gripping her head tightly.
“Waiting?” she asks between shallow breaths.
I nod. “You’re in charge, do you want me to continue?”
She rises on her tiptoes, leaning closer. This time, I devour her. Our tongues tangle and fuck if the fire isn’t consuming us.
Lust and adrenaline rush through my veins. I run a hand up and down her round, tight ass. My length is turning into a piece of steel. Throbbing, needy steel that wants to slide inside her. A sexy moan escapes her lips as I move between her thighs and push her against the door.
Her legs wrap around my hips, and anything besides fucking her is off the table. There’s no restraint. For her, or for myself.
I break the kiss, gasping for some air. “Are you sure about this?”
“I have this theory,” she says. “Being with a guy for the first time being awkward and meh. Do you want to prove me wrong?”
“Challenge accepted.”

Michel’s

Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa is the perfect combination of  a frenemies romance and forbidden love with his sister’s best friend. Add in a few more ingredients such as another Spearman sibling and daughter of  Kaden Hades- famous rock star (My One Regret) and it makes the flavoring all the better. The magic ingredient is Claudia Burgoa’s  ability to spin an entertaining, emotionally charge romance that keeps readers glued to the pages.

Hannah Hades has grown into an incredible woman. While she is just as sweet as she was when she was a child, she is also a bit jaded and emotionally cautious due to her emotional scars from her mother in childhood and past romantic experiences. When she meets Alex Spearman, she’s not quite sure how to handle him. She doesn’t want a relationship, she hates his assumed arrogance but she can’t seem to stay away. He’s a champion in the bedroom, a fun companion, and he’s willing to take on her cat. The best thing about Alex is he’s willing to take her on.

Alex Spearman may be an olympic athlete but he is also a man who carries his own scars. Losing his professional athletic career because of an accident has left him a bit lost. His business is thriving, his sister is managing his professional life with ace precision  but there is something big missing. When he meets Hannah he knows she’s the answer. She keeps pushing him away and he’s determined to win her over. He’s an olympic champion, he has faced easier competitors than Hannah and won. Alex has accepted the challenge to win Hannah’s heart.

Claudia Burgoa once again delivered a fun and delightful romance that kept me thoroughly involved until the very end.

Tracey’s Review

Y’all. Every single time that Meghan March introduces a new couple, I think, ‘This is my favorite couple of Meghan’s!” Let me tell you, friends, this might be it. Scarlett and Gabriel and the group of people that they love are the deal, and THE FIGHT FOR FOREVER, the perfect wrap-up for one of my new favorite set of books from Ms. March.

Each of the two previous books has been a great read in their own right, but this one has all of the action, all of the love, all of the feels. Scarlett and Gabriel are turning the typical Cinderella story on its ear, coming together as the power couple that no one was expecting, and writing their own happy ending. Edge of my seat much? To the very last page, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Meghan kept me guessing right up to the end, paving the way for what I am hoping is the story that I cannot wait to read. Was that my jaw on the ground? Why, yes, yes it was, as Meghan proved once again that she is at the top of her game as one of the reigning queens of contemporary romantic suspense.

If you’re a fan of Meghan’s, then you know that this book, and, indeed, the whole Legend trilogy, is a must-read. If she’s been on your TBR, then go, right now, and grab these books. Go. Now. You can thank me later… ❤️

Tracey’s Review

Aleatha Romig has proven time and again that she can craft romantic suspense like nobody’s business. SPARK, the first book in her Web of Desire trilogy, is another example of this type of book done right, and it was fantastic from start to finish.

An offshoot of the Sparrow Webs series, this trilogy focuses on Patrick Kelly and Madeline Miller. Without giving too much away, suffice to say that these two have one heck of a past, one that Madeline has done her best to put behind her by reinventing herself. Both she and Patrick are completely different people now, both with secrets that they’re keeping from each other and those close to them.

And, darn it, but what a jaw-dropping cliffhanger Aleatha gave us, revealing both everything and nothing. Like the queen that she is, Aleatha dropped that mic and walked offstage, leaving me wondering how in the world I’m going to make it until FLAME (Book 2) releases and gives up some of the answers. Fans of romantic suspense will eat this book up, and deservedly so. If a fast-paced read with a mafia vibe are your thing, make sure to add it to your TBR, and enjoy. ❤️

I lean in closer. “Be careful, your mask is slipping. You almost seem like the girl I grew up with right now.” I both love and hate seeing the real her. It’s driven me out of my mind that for years now, Mara has put on a mask around everyone but me. “Wouldn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea and see that you’re actually a caring person.” I lower my voice. “I have nothing to say to you.”

The hurt flashes across her eyes but is gone within a blink. In my mind, I see her when she was ten, when she thought I was ignoring her for a week because my mother wouldn’t let me go play with the princess. She locked me in my room when I snuck out, not letting me out for so long I thought I’d die in that bedroom. Those were the dark days with my mother, the days I still try to stuff down inside. I’d give anything if I could erase them from my memory. The hurt on Mara’s face back then when I was able to go outside again but didn’t tell her where I’d been or what had happened…it’s the same look I saw just now.

It’s these snapshots of us in my mind that make me turn back to her, make me think maybe there is a way…maybe we could have a chance.

Princess Mara Catano is having an even harder time adjusting to the changes in the kingdom since her younger brother married and became king after her father was arrested for murder. Her mother has been banished from the palace, her father is awaiting trial, her new sister in law has taken her brother’s affection, and the kingdom has changed in a blink of an eye. The worst is the man she has loved since childhood no longer wants anything to do with her and has eyes for another. What is a spoiled princess to do but act out to get attention, make headlines for her bad behavior, and turn on her trusted brother due to her parents manipulation. Never a dull moment ins Niaps.

Mara has been in love with Elias since she was a young, neglected princess desperate for love and attention. She valued their friendship and fell deeply in love with the boy from her youth. It didn’t matter that he wasn’t royalty and filthy rich, he loved her for being Mara not Princess Mara. Now Elias is her brother’s advisor and has his own issues in life. He’s hiding things from both her and her brother.

Spiteful actions, immature decisions, and malicious intent keep them apart until they both finally see the truth. The lives are being manipulated. They are pawns in a wicked game of deceit and loyalty. Will they finally grow up, take control of their lives, and dictate their own destiny? Are they strong enough to weather the storm or will they blow away in the wicked windstorm created by the former king?

Although I liked the premise of this story and the theme of the series, I feel like the story that propels this cast of characters is falling apart.  The characters are hard to embrace and hard to believe. Their selfish actions and repetitive manipulations overtake the goodness the author wanted readers to embrace. I feel like there was not enough explanation of the political motivations to validate this world. I think this series could go much further with a bit more attention to details, a better development of characters, stronger world building passages, and a more mature plot line.

I am still very invested in this series and look forward to reading more. I think I had a hard time connecting with Mara and Elias. I loved the first book and hope the next will have that kind of vibe.

Overall I am glad I continued reading Exposed because I got to see the other side of a very mean, spoiled princess. I got to see Princess Mara evolve into a better woman rather than a spoiled royal brat.

Excerpt

It was funny. I’d spent almost half my life surrounded by the biggest, baddest criminals the state of Georgia had been able to capture. Yet, I was terrified of a five-foot-five woman who for some asinine reason was still in love with me.

I couldn’t be around her. Not if I wanted to keep my head straight and my eye on the prize. I had three years before I got off parole. I needed to get a job, tuck away some cash, and, the second I was allowed to leave Georgia, get the hell out of there. Maybe, if I was lucky, I’d be able to convince my sister to come with me. We didn’t have to go far. We could stay in the south if she wanted. South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee—there were schools everywhere. Nora wouldn’t have trouble finding a job. The hardest part would be convincing her to leave Thea.

However, maybe if she did, Thea would finally move on with her life and stop obsessing about me.

I’d known they lived together for a while. I didn’t want anything to do with Thea while I was locked up, but I was happy as hell Nora had someone to lean on. I had been under the impression that Nora had gotten her own place when she found out about my release. I had been under that impression because Nora had straight-up told me she was getting her own place after I’d declared there was no way I was living with Thea.

Now, I was hiding in my room, waiting for Nora to wake up, open my door, and escort me to breakfast like a damn bodyguard so I could avoid confrontation.

Next up in my efforts to kill time was a workout. Sit ups, push-ups, planks, running in place. This was when I realized Nora hadn’t bought me any deodorant.

Another shower.

Another naked lap around the bedroom, and this time, I managed to keep my hands off my cock.

Finally, I got dressed. This required me to pick through a bunch of preppy shit Nora had bought for me to find tattered jeans and a fitted green tee that clung to my chest like a damn glove. In my closet, I found a belt and a pair of distressed brown lace-up boots that maybe could have doubled as combat boots if the war was taking place on a runway. But what the hell did I know about style? I’d been wearing orange or puke beige for almost half my life.

When I was done with all of that and there was still no sign of Nora, I sat on the edge of the bed and decided to give the phone thing a try. I wasn’t totally out of the technology loop. We had computers at the library and we were allowed to use them if we earned the privileges. But they might as well have been dinosaurs compared to the phone she’d bought me. I couldn’t even get it to read my face with the fancy secret laser thing. I gave up trying pretty quickly.

So there I was, bored out of my mind, starving, and poking at my newfound wrinkles in the bathroom mirror, when I heard a knock at my door.

“Ramsey?”

I froze, my eyes locked on the mirror, panic staring back at me.

Thea.

Jesus. I needed to find somewhere else to live.

Leaning out of the bathroom, I stared at the door. If I was super quiet, maybe she’d think I was still asleep and go the hell away.

When I didn’t reply, she knocked again. Her voice was timid and sweet, not at all like the fearless girl I’d grown up with. I hated it.

“Ramsey? You hungry? I’m making breakfast? I was wondering if you wanted something?” Everything from my name to the fact that she was making breakfast was a question, as if maybe she was asking permission to cook in her own house.

My stomach was currently feasting on my backbone. Still, I said nothing.

She sighed. “Okay. Well, if you change your—” There were several seconds of silence.

I quirked my eyebrow at the door, trying to figure out why she’d abruptly stopped talking, and then cursed my inability to develop x-ray vision.

I held my breath, hoping to hear her footsteps as she walked away.

No. Such. Fucking. Luck.

The door swung open and she came walking inside with her hands stacked over her eyes. “Look, I know you’re awake. I heard you running earlier. I also heard you take at least three showers. Sorry, but the house isn’t that big. Neither is the hot water heater. Are you at least dressed so I can open my eyes?”

Brave. Unapologetic. And completely oblivious to boundaries. Now that was the Thea I knew.

“Get out,” I barked.

“Dressed? Not dressed? Help me out here?”

“Get. Out.”

She kept her eyes closed. “You gotta eat, Ramsey. You can’t stay locked up in this room forever.”

I wanted to tell her to get the hell out again. Honestly, it was on the tip of my tongue. But it never made it past my lips because my traitorous eyes stole a head-to-toe of her lithe body. She was barefoot, wearing jeans—tight ones that tapered at her ankle. They looked like mine in the sense that they had a rip in the knee. They didn’t look like mine in the sense that they hugged the curve of her hips and more than likely her ass too. A pink tank top stretched across her chest, and I swear on my life, fuck x-ray vision because I could see the pebble of her nipples beneath the fabric.

It wasn’t a ridiculous dress.

It wasn’t stupid fucking heels.

She wasn’t wearing a face full of clown makeup.

She was just Thea.

The nostalgia pumped through my veins like acid even as my cock stirred. Fuck, I should have jerked off again in the shower.

“I’m dressed,” I bit out, desperate for her to put her damn hands down and maybe use them to cover her tits instead.

Her long, brown lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes. Those fucking eyes had once owned me. As a huge smile lit her face, I felt the claim all over again.

“Oh, look, you chose one of the outfits I picked out for you.”

Of course I had. Of fucking course. As soon as I got her out of my room, I was going to take the outfit off and light it on fire.

Michel’s Review

Once again Aly Martinez has commanded my complete attention and insisted I stay glued to the pages until I finished RELEASE, her latest novel.

Thea Hull and Ramsey Stewart lives became intertwined when both suffered their own personal tragedies. They were kids trying to survive the loss and heartache while surviving the next phase of their young lives. Their friendship gave them strength to survive childhood. Their friendship gave them an undeniable passion for one another that is only found once in a lifetime. That love was supposed to be the beginning  of their happily ever after. The night that should of been a celebration of their love turned into another tragic event that destroyed their future. For twelve long years they have both suffered the consequences of that ill fated night that changed their lives forever. The one thing that never changed was their deep love for one another. They must find their way back to one another and learn to trust in that love once again.

Release is more than a tragic love story. It’s a story of faith, trust, love for family, and a willingness to forgive. It’s about everything that really matters in life.

Once again Aly Martinez nailed it and held my complete attention. I loved RELEASE!

New Release + Release Blitz + 4 Star Review: Just Kidding by Lani Lynn Vale

Let’s do a calendar, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.
Well, they—i.e. Kilgore Police Department’s public relations specialists—were wrong.
Now, every time Dax Tremaine walks around a corner, the women of Kilgore, Texas can’t help calling him Mr. January.
Mr. January, can you fix my flat tire? Mr. January, can you cuff me? Mr. January, can you sign my boob?
It goes from bad to worse when even on a SWAT call, the women won’t stay away.
***
It was the worst time of her life. Rowen Roberts had finally admitted to herself that the man she loved would never love her back. She was just fired from her job for violating client confidentiality, and to make matters worse, she’s held up at gunpoint in a convenience store where she only wanted some ice cream to help mask the pain.
The moment the gun is pressed to her forehead, she knows she has a decision to make. Follow the rules and maybe possibly live, or go down swinging where at least she can salvage just a little bit of her dignity.
And when Mr. January himself tells her to do what the gunman says, she’s had enough. Rowen has never really been a girl that does what she’s told. Mr. January won’t have to save her. She can dang well save herself.

Tracey’s Review
I don’t think that Lani Lynn Vale can write a book that doesn’t leave me smiling and happy that I’ve spent time in Kilgore, TX. JUST KIDDING, the first book in her SWAT Generation 2.0 series, is a zany, sexy, feel-good time, and just what I needed to kick off my year in reading.

The thing that I love most about Lani’s books is her characters. They are just so unique, so irreverent, so take-no-prisoners that I can’t not adore them. Rowen Roberts may seem like she’s getting the short end of the deal here, but she’s a canny little thing, and more than able to hold her own with everyone from her nemesis Shondra to the fine folk of Kilgore to Mr. January himself, Mr. Dax Tremaine.

There are some moments of intrigue, good cross-over from previous LLV books, and, most importantly, a story that won my heart so completely that I can’t wait for the next book. All of Lani’s many fans know this already, but if you like your romance with plenty of sass, some laugh-out-loud moments, and just overall good times, this book is for you. Go on, grab it now, and thank me later. ❤️

Blurb:
One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace.
No names.
No promises.
Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and
grief.
In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with
her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania.
When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him.
At least I’ll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with
memories I’ve fought to forget.
And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful
than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen.
Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this
time I refuse to let her go. They say you can’t bury the past, and they’re
right. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core,
I have no choice but to watch her walk away again . . .

Michel’s Review
Come Back For Me by Corinne Michaels is the first book in her new captivationing Arrowood Brothers series. Four brothers shared a horrific, abusive childhood that not only bonded them but also drove them away from each other and their family home. They made a pact that they would never return home and would never have children to carry on the Arrowood legacy. They have returned home to bury their abusive, drunken father. They are going to sell off the family farm and never look back.  Their abusive father is going to strike out one last time from the grave with his last will and testament. He is determined to destroy the last bit of joy in the Arrowood name. All four brothers will once again pay a high price for being born an Arrowood. They may hate their legacy but the past they left behind includes more than despair and heartache. They may have left the only shred of happiness they will ever have in life. Vows can be broken, souls can be bruised and battered, but the heart will continue to beat until the love that was meant to heal can do it’s job.
*
Connor Arrowood is forced to resign from the Navy Seals due to a leg injury that hasn’t healed right. Instead of a heroic, joyful release from military service he is forced to return home for his father’s funeral. He’s hoping the money from selling the farm will finance his next step in life.   Rather than getting an inheritance he is getting an ultimatum. His father’s will demands that each of the four Arrowood Brothers spends six months home on the family farm or the inheritance from the proceeds of the farm will be forfeited. Each brother has to comply or they all lose. Connor is expected to be the first to stay on the farm because he is not tied down to a career and has time on his hands. He is also very handy and can repair the broken down farm.
*
The only good memory Connor has of Arrowood Farm and Sugarloaf, PA after his mother passed away when he was seven is his last night there. The night before he shipped out for the Navy. He had an exciting, anonmymous affair with a woman who captivated his heart and soothed his soul. Their promise of one night only has stayed with him all through his adult life. He never dared to dream he would come face to face with the woman of his dreams once again. Nor did he ever imagine that seeing her again would change his heart towards the Arrowood Farm.
*
Ellie met Connor on the night she found herself at crossroads for her future. She chose the right place to lay her weary heart but chose the wrong road the next day. Once again she’s at the crossroads in her life. This time she can’t choose the wrong road because her daughter’s life also depends on it. She never dreamed she would meet Connor Arrowood once again and that he would be her shelter in the storm.
*
Their lives are tied together from the past and their future is dependent on letting go of the secrets from the past that bind their nightmares. Only they can choose to love one another no matter what. A little girl is depending on their love for her happy future.
*
The Arrowood Farm may not be living hell after all. It may be Ellie and Connor’s slice of heaven.
*
I can’t wait to see what happens next in Arrowood Brothers saga. These broken men are coming home.

Corinne Michaels has once again captured my heart with Come Back For Me.

The wait is over! Gilded Lily, the second standalone in Staci Hart’s Bennet Brothers Series, is LIVE! Trust me when I say you do NOT want to miss this one! Lila & Kash are everything. Grab your copy today on Amazon or snag this beauty in Kindle Unlimited today!

They say there’s no such thing as perfect. But I’ve built my life to perfection—the perfect boyfriend, the perfect apartment, the perfect career planning celebrity weddings. My job—my only job—is to make sure every event is absolutely and completely perfect. What’s not perfect? Kash Bennet. And I wish I didn’t find that so appealing. I could have told you every perfectly imperfect thing about the gardener at Longbourne. Like his hair, lush and black and far too long. Or his nose, the flat bridge of a Greek god, bent a little like it’s been broken. Or his size. Beastly. Roped and corded with muscles, gleaming with sweat and peppered with dirt. There’s no escaping him, not if I’m going to use his family’s flower shop for my events. But nothing is what it seems. And in the span of a heartbeat, my perfect life is turned inside out. They say the best way to get over somebody is to get under somebody new. When Kash offers his services to the cause, it sounds like the perfect plan. What’s not part of the plan? Falling in love with the gardener. But they were right—there’s no such thing as perfect. And I’m the fool who finds out the hard way.

A SPADE’S A SPADE

KASH

Heaven existed within the walls of our greenhouse.

The shuck of my shovel against the iron wheelbarrow was the second hand on my day. Rich soil mounded on my spade, and I transferred it into the bed of Black-eyed Susans, turning it to feed the sleepy dirt already gathered at the flowers’ feet. I caught sight of the snowy top of my father’s head between stalks of amber amaranth down the row where he knelt, hands in the earth. He hummed along with the music playing from the portable speaker on our work cart, and with another shuck, I drove my shovel back into the wheelbarrow. It was peaceful and familiar, the rhythm of our day, the slanting sun, the humid air and smell of flowers. I’d worked in my family’s greenhouse during high school—as had all my siblings—but where they made their way into the world, I hung back, content to hang back at Longbourne with Dad, unable to leave Mom without anyone to fuss over. And if there was one thing Mrs. Bennet required from life, it was someone to fuss over. I found myself smiling at the thought. She’d see us all married off—in fact, she played the matchmaker like it was her full time job—but I had to wonder what she’d do with herself once we were all gone. Press us for grandchildren and divert her attention to them, if the rest of the Bennet brood was lucky. The crack of the swinging metal door against the wall wiped that smile off my face. I shot up from my task with a hard look, appalled and accusing, prepared to smite whoever had disturbed our sanctuary. Lila Parker blew in like a gale, heels clicking like hammers against the cement floor. At the sight of her, my fury abated, replaced by a curious wonder and the incremental slowing of time that always accompanied her entrance. She was a study in white, pristine and stern in a pantsuit that belonged in some fancy lady’s luncheon, not a greenhouse. Her legs were ten miles long in those white pants, the matching jacket cut low. A sliver of silken nude fabric was the only thing to mar the line of her cleavage, which my eyes followed before climbing up her lily-white skin, up the long column of her neck, to the set of her uncompromising little jaw. God, she was pretty when she was mad. Shame she had a boyfriend. I’d known Lila since high school, the notorious rule follower and teacher’s pet, thumbing her nose at the trouble the rest of us got in and refusing invitations to parties in favor of SAT prep. Her sister, Ivy, worked here then and stuck around like I had, and though Lila’d had every opportunity to join the gang, she’d happily declined. She’d ignored me then, and she ignored me now, outside of storming into our flower shop to get onto us—or me specifically—for whatever wedding we had, were, or would provide flowers for. As a high-profile wedding planner, I supposed that was her right. The only bearable thing about it was the chance to give her just a little hell, simply because I knew she could take it and I could take whatever she gave back. As she approached, her lips set in a firm line, red as blood against the milk of her skin. The bridge of her nose was short, though long enough to look down at everyone from her high horse—or high heels, as it were—but her eyes always struck me beyond all else, cool and gray as a winter’s afternoon, tight with suspicion, hard with the bite of demand. Incongruent to the impeccable, pallid shades of snow was her hair, a shining crimson too bright for all that ivory. It was as perfectly right as it was utterly unnatural, the only indicator that she ran on hot coals and gasoline, just waiting for a match to strike so she could ignite. Just as she had once a week—typically in my direction—since she’d started using Longbourne’s flowers for her events. That red hair bounced with every click of her heels as she rounded the corner of the aisle and marched toward me, her eyes narrowing another tick when they met mine. Tess, our lead florist, followed with an apologetic look on her face. My lips tilted higher on one side. And with a shield of calm, unaffected charm in place, I leaned on the handle of my shovel, ready to catch whatever Lila threw at me. “Coral,” she snapped as she approached. “You were supposed to give me coral chrysanthemums for the Berkshire wedding, and you sent pink.” She stopped a few feet in front of me, crossing her arms. I offered an easy smile. “I cut those flowers myself, picked the best stock from our Gigi mums, just like you asked.” “Then why were they the wrong color? Do you have any idea the tantrum Johanna Berkshire threw over those flowers? She tried to get me fired.” A chuckle through my nose. “Sounds like she needs to get some real problems.” She eyed me as she drew a breath to fuel her furnace. “For years, my sister has begged me to bring Longbourne business, and I refused for exactly this reason. If it hadn’t been for all your recent press, I never would have put my ass on the line. But if I say coral, I expect coral. Not pink. Not fuchsia. Not goddamn watermelon or flamingo or anything but coral.” “Sorry, Ms. Parker,” I answered lazily. “Won’t happen again.” “You’re damn right it won’t.” “How about we issue the Berkshires a partial refund for the trouble?” Suspicion sparked in her gaze. “I’m sure that would help.” “Then consider it done.” Those cool eyes narrowed even more. “I need someone to come to a venue in Midtown to measure for arbors and garlands. They’ve requested an archway, and one of you needs to come take the measurements.” Dad cast me a glance that said not it. The way Tess glared at the back of Lila’s head, I figured she’d just as soon claw her in the back with a hand rake than help her measure anything. Lila’s sister Ivy—who was a florist at Longbourne—was entirely too pregnant to measure anything but her uterus, and Wendy, our newest addition, just wasn’t experienced enough. My brother Luke might have done it, but something told me I wanted to be the one to handle Lila Parker. “Sure. When and where?” “Tomorrow, if you can manage it. I can meet you at three, 49th and 5th. I’m going to need an archway long enough for the wedding party to stand inside, and the arbor will need a special design built in the shape of a triangle. It’s at the—” She paused, lips flattening. “Shouldn’t you be taking notes?” I tapped my temple. “Got it all right here.” Color rose in her cheeks as she drew a slow breath through her nose. “I really think you should write it down.” “What, don’t trust me?” “I don’t know what instills more faith—that you can’t tell the difference between shades of pink or that your shirt says Can You Dig It? on the front.” I glanced down at my chest, flicking at a streak of dirt like I gave a shit what she thought. “Listen, Priss. I’ll be where you say, when you say, ready and at your service.” A pause while she stared me down, seeming to weigh her options. “All right, Filthy. Can you at least wear a clean shirt? This venue books for two-hundred-thousand per event, and I don’t want to have to get you in through the service entrance.” “Deal,” I said, extending a hand in challenge. It was as filthy like she’d said, with crescents of dirt under my nails and enough soil in the creases of my palms to grow zucchinis. Her eyes dropped to my hand, and for a moment, I was positive she’d refuse. But somewhere in that pretty little head of hers existed some form of manners and a healthy helping of pride, so she slipped that spotless, manicured hand into my dirty, callused one. It was soft and warm, though her fingers were strong, gripping my hand and pumping it once, firm and definitive, before taking it back. Instantly, I felt guilty for daring her—her skin was spoiled with streaks and flecks of dirt. To her credit, she didn’t even dust it off. Instead, she held up her chin and gave me a quietly confrontational glare. “I’ll give Ivy the exact address. At least I know she’ll write it down.” “Whatever you have to do,” I said, returning my forearm to the handle of the shovel, not missing the flick of her eyes to my shoulders and the cross of my arms. “Tomorrow, then. Don’t be late.” She tugged tugged the hem of her jacket, straightening it to match the yardstick that was her spine, and once again I lamented taking her hand. A scuff of dirt now sullied the very edge of that white tailored coat. Before I could apologize, she turned on her heel to walk away. What she didn’t realize—the cat had taken up post directly behind her. The moment stretched as she tilted in a successful attempt to avoid impaling Brutus with her heel, and when that heel came down, it caught in the seam of concrete. Her long legs twisted, arms shooting out for balance but finding none. Fast, but not fast enough, I moved for her, the shovel hitting the ground with a clang as that pristine white ass of hers landed flat in the Black-eyed Susans and that fresh coat of soil I’d just laid down. Brutus took a seat next to Tess’s feet, curling his tail around himself and watching Lila with what I swore was a wry smile. My urge to laugh was so intense, it caught in my chest, frozen by the sheer outrage on her face and utter hysteria of the sight of her, so clean and white against the browns and greens and golds of the flowerbed. A slow heave of her chest as she breathed fire. The pink of her cheeks flaring to red. The gray of her eyes igniting into a cruel shade of blue, illuminated by the inferno of her thoughts. I stepped up, unable to school my face as I extended a hand, this time to help her up. But she scowled, slapping my hand away. “I’ve got it,” she shot, planting her palms in the dirt to push herself up. As I backed out of the way, I watched her swipe at her ass, too furious to realize she’d only smudged the dirt around. Tess removed her hands from her mouth, unable to right her face any better than I had. “Here, let me help you—” “I said, I’ve got it.” Lila’s voice was deadly calm, and at the sound, Tess pinned her lips between her teeth and stepped out of the way. “Tomorrow,” Lila snapped at me over her shoulder, smoothing the shining waves of her hair, which remained undisturbed by her tumble. “See you then,” I answered with a nod. And then I watched that dirty ass stride proudly out the door. The second it swung closed, laughter bubbled out of Tess, and at the sound, there was no containing my own. Even Dad joined in, shoulders shaking gently. “Oh, the poor Susans,” Tess said, swiping at a tear. “Look, her ass print is still there,” she squeaked before succumbing to another bout of laughter. “The look on her face,” I said with the shake of my head. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody so mad. Not even you, Tess.” “And that’s saying something,” she added, resting her palm on her belly like she’d just done a hundred sit-ups. “God, if Ivy and Lila didn’t look like twins, I’d never believe they were related.” “I didn’t remember her being this…” I started. “Bitchy?” “I was gonna say bossy, but okay.” Tess sighed. “She wasn’t kidding about sticking her neck out. She’s handling this huge celebrity wedding on her own, and her senior is a total asshole, breathing down her neck and micromanaging her at every turn. Addison is constantly looking for reasons to throw Lila under the bus, and if we screw up, Addison will blame Lila. But even though she’s a pain, the business is good for us. Archer Events handles the biggest weddings in the city, and that’s putting us in the spotlight. We’ve just gotta deal with all the stress that comes with doing weddings.” “Like bridezillas and entitled wedding planners?” I asked. “Exactly.” Tess sighed. “Although, I don’t know what we’re going to do with Lila when Ivy is on maternity leave and isn’t here to manage her. Today was bad enough, and Ivy was just at a doctor’s appointment.” Dad dusted off his hands. “If she got past you, Tess, I fear for us all.” “I tried to tell her it wasn’t your fault,” Tess said, her eyes full of apology. “Those flowers went through three florists before it got to the wedding—which I told her—but she stormed right past me to yell at you about it.” I shrugged. “Don’t worry about me, Tess—I can handle her.” At the disbelieving quirk of her mouth, I added, “I mean it. She can get as mad as she wants and I won’t get riled. I’ll hold the bucket so she can dump all her rage into it, and when she’s empty of it, I’ll get whatever done that she needs done. Trust me when I promise you this—Lila Parker cannot get to me.” At that, Tess laughed. “Famous last words.” And oh, if I’d only known how right she was.

Tracey’s Review

I have a confession to make up front…I have never read a book by Staci Hart before. Why, I couldn’t tell you, because I sure loved the heck out of GILDED LILY, the second book in her Bennet Brothers series. I wasn’t sure that this book was going to work for me, because, at first meeting, Lila was not my most favorite character. Driven, totally Type A, and not particularly nice, Lily has worked hard to secure her place as event planner to the A-list. But as I got to see more of her, and especially after spending more time with Kash, a whole other side of Lila emerges, and it’s like the sun coming out. Kash, the master gardener, nurtures and cares for her in a way that previous lovers have not, and the Lila that emerges is lovely in every way. Kash. Kash Bennet is the real deal of book boyfriends, y’all. He is the most literally down-to-earth of the Bennets, being so like his father, and his earthiness, his easiness about himself and with others, make him an ‘0h, my gosh, yes’ kind of hero. And, although it doesn’t seem like it to start, he is just what Lila needs, and, surprisingly, she is perfect for him, as well. GILDED LILY is an easy 4.5 star read for me, and one that I happily recommend. It is witty, sensual, and heartwarming, and should be on the book stacks of romance readers everywhere. Now, for the rest of the Bennets… ❤️

Everyone hates parts of their job. Maybe it’s the paperwork. Maybe it’s the day-to-day grind. Maybe it’s that client who never knows what they want, or the guy who always cooks fish in the microwave. But not me. I love every corner of the Longbourne Flower Shop, every flower, every petal, every stem. I love the greenhouse, and I love Mrs. Bennet, my boss. I love creating, and I love being a florist. I don’t hate anything at all. Except for Luke Bennet. The Bennet brothers have come home to help their mom save the flower shop, and Luke is at the helm. His smile tells a tale of lust, loose and easy. He moves with the grace of a predator, feral and wild. A thing unbridled, without rules or constraint. When he comes home to save Longbourne, I almost can’t be mad at him. Almost. He doesn’t remember that night I’ll never forget. That kiss, touched with whiskey and fire. It branded me like a red-hot iron. But it meant nothing to him. Everyone hates part of their job, and I hate Luke Bennet. Because if I don’t, I’ll fall in love with him.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
