Welcome to my absolute favorite book yet in the Highlands series from author Samantha Young. THROUGH THE GLEN is romantic suspense done well, with a plot that drew me in from the very beginning and an unlikely couple that had me rooting for them from the go.

Sarah McCulloch has grown so much from the earlier books in the series, and it’s evident even from the very start of this book. She’s got a whole life that very few know about, and the fact that she can throw Mr. Theo Cavendish for a loop is one of my favorite things about their story. She has developed both self-knowledge and self-worth, thanks in large part to her beloved grandfather and cousin, and I truly appreciate that she is able to set boundaries and stick with them as her relationship with Theo progresses.

I adore Theo. Did I think he was a smarmy so and so before this book? Yes, yes I did. Did I fall absolutely in love with him during the course of this book, finding him to be one of my favorite of Samantha’s male characters ever? Again, yes.

The chemistry between Sarah and Theo is no less steamy for it being a bit of a slow burn. The evolution of them from co-creators to couple is not without trouble, but I think that this is what makes it sweeter and more satisfying to me as a reader. And seeing them come fully into themselves by the end of the book had this romance lover doing a happy dance. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in The Highlands series, but Theo and Sarah hold a special place in my heart.

Next up in the series is Jared McCulloch’s and Allegra Howard’s book, SKIES OVER CALEDONIA, and I can hardly wait. In the meantime, make sure to get caught up with Sarah and Theo. I guarantee, you will love them. Happy Reading. ❤️

“Cute.”

She jumped again. “Gronk. Gronk.”

I tried not to react, but she was just too damn adorable.

Josie pointed at my face. “There it is again. The elusive Mr. Grumpy Pants smile. It’s kind of…dare I say…nice.” She made an exaggerated gasping sound and covered her mouth. “Oh no. I hope it’s not too painful.”

“Alright, wiseass. I get the point. How about you take your oinking ass out front and grab one of the small two by fours I left on the porch? I’ll show you how to make an easy support to hold up the drywall while it gets screwed into the ceiling.”

Josie strutted to the door. The woman was wearing a white tank top and long, pale pink, flowy skirt to do construction. It looked like she was going on a picnic date, rather than hanging sheetrock—though the tank top hugged her in all the right places, and there was something about her collarbone that I couldn’t drag my eyes away from. She bent to pick up the wood out front, and the top of her tank gaped open, giving me a clear view down her shirt. I forced my head in the other direction, though my eyes managed to slant and continue looking.

“Jesus Christ,” I grumbled to myself. “I need to get the fu¢k out of here.”

I absolutely fell in love with The Highlands series when Samantha Young released BEYOND THE THISTLES earlier this year, so I was highly anticipating seeing more of this beautiful place and the people that live there. AMONG THE HEATHER, the second book in the series, is just as beautiful, and the story just as magnetic, as the first, and I could not have enjoyed it more.

Let me just say that I LOVE the fact that North Hunter is a man that knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it, even when what, or rather who, he wants is Aria Howard, and she’s having none of it. I also love the fact that this is not an insta-love kind of story, but that Samantha actually allows the relationship between these two to develop over time, for them to make their way from enemies to lovers in a way that makes sense.

Samantha has given us the perfect blend of romance, steam, and suspense, as well as showing the emotional growth and evolution of both Aria and North in a way that had me rooting for them from early on, and celebrating with them as they overcame those things in their pasts that had kept them from being truly free for so many years. I sped through this book, for no other reason than that I could not put it down, both because of needing to know what was around the next curve and because I needed them to get to their happy. Suffice to say that I was not disappointed, and that I cannot wait to get the next book, although I kind of want to kick a certain son of a viscount in the head. 4.5 well deserved stars for AMONG THE HEATHER. I knew that this book was going to do me in from the first page. That Amy would make Dakota’s and Ryder’s story one that would steal, break, and rebuild my heart and leave me a complete and utter mess in the process. And I was not wrong.

How could we help but see that Ryder and Dakota were soul mates, from first to last, no matter what? That no matter what forces conspired to keep them apart, they were meant to be, and that a man that appears to be all hard edges and a woman whose softness belies her strength were the missing piece that the other needed?

No one writes romantic suspense quite like Amy does. The grittiness, the danger, the passion that all lead, always, to a beautiful end. And she is totally pulling out all of the stops with the Time River series, delivering two amazing books that I could not put down, and that will stay with me for a very long time. At this rate, I’m not sure that I’ll recover from Ezra’s book, but I cannot wait to see what she’s got for us. If you haven’t read these books, you are totally missing out. Make room for them on your TBR. You will not be sorry. ❤️

Yep, Amy has totally brought her usual bombshell of a read with LOVE ME TODAY, the first book in her new Time River series, and I am SO here for it.

I have to be honest, I fell in love with Evelyn first. Amy writes kids so well, and Evelyn is one of my favorites so far. Her sweetness, her resilience, the unbounded love living within her beautiful little self, had me falling fast and hard.

And Caleb. There’s just something about a dark, dangerous, and broken man, and he is all three. Who could resist trying to save them?
